The third is one of my all time favorite movies. It pulls elements of the good the bad and the ugly, my favorite. The second is a great film and really 2 & 3 are one long movie. People like to say the first is the best, but I disagree. It's rare for a film to have so many characters that come to life, and the third gives us a great ending for all of them.
Not what I was expecting but some fine points made. Why do I remember everyone ripping on the 2nd and 3rd movies? Was it because we weren’t used to a cliffhanger ending yet?
This triology is far from perfect. The first movie was the absolute pinnacle and peak of fun, action, storywriting and whatnot. But the second movie? It was a serious down hill compared to the first one. Bringing back Barbosa, I didn't like at all. It completely destroyed all the impact of the first film which was about Jack's revenge on his once considered best friend and ally.
Really? I felt like it was am amazing decision. Bringing back Barbossa and forcing him to go save Jack made the revenge ever sweeter for me. Not only did Barbossa lose against Jack, he now has to go and bring back the person he initially betrayed. And honestly, Barbossa was way too good of a character to waste on just one movie. Legit my favorite and some of the only parts of the last 2 movies I enjoyed where all the scenes with Jack & Barbossa. Was it absolutely necessary? No definitely not, but I strongly believe the benefits to the movie overall outweighed the costs.
