In the, uh, waste management business, seeing a therapist would be taken by his associates as a big weakness when his being seen as strong is critical to his power. I agree. BB is also an excellent show, but I grew up in an environment that makes this series very close to home, so it will always be tough to top for me.
I got to work with James Gandolfini on a movie set in 2005 near St Augustine, Florida. Really nice guy in-person and he treated everyone well from the movie stars to the extras and the people doing the dirty work.
I came across this show about two years ago, and I am 30 years old, I have watched all kinds of great shows, movies, and what have you. And this is by far the best show I have ever seen, especially by character standards.
Just a response to that "I thought he was a good guy" - this was the show that made Hollywood realize that main characters don't need to be good guys for the audience to empathize or engage emotionally with them. Turns out moral ambiguity, violence, downright evil intentions and actions interspersed with normal, everyday general good-guy life make much better recipes for character depth than seemingly morally perfect good guys. Without The Sopranos, we wouldn't have Breaking Bad, Dexter, or several other of the best shows we know of today
Martin Scorsese had been showing Hollywood that protagonists don't need to be good guys for decades. Sopranos just brought it to TV. In many ways, it's a watered-down version of Goodfellas.

A lot of people consider the Soprano’s and Breaking Bad to be the very finest of all the cable TV Series. You guys will LOVE IT, like you did Breaking Bad.
This is my favorite series of all time. So glad you’re watching it, such great acting. Dr. Melli was the wife in Goodfellas and Silvio Dante, Tony’s right hand guy is Bruce Springsteens guitar player. RIP James Gandolfini, he died way too young. Great reactions as usual. ❤
Quick correction… they blew up the restaurant so the murder the uncle was planning wouldn’t take place in it. It would have been terrible for his friend Arties restaurant, no one wants to go to a restaurant where someone was just killed. But they can’t tell Artie that.
You guys are going to love this. The writer David Chase does a great job of mixing in Crime drama, Family drama, and Humor all into one big show. And you'll find out that the actors are really good.
This one keeps getting better and better. I didn't start watching it until the series was over. I'd end up watching 3 or 4 episodes in a row until the early morning hours, then curse myself trying to wake up in the morning to go to work. 🛌😔😅
Although I JUST finished watching this series for the 3rd time, I am SUPER excited to watch it again with you guys!! It is one of those shows that I could watch over and over! Hope you like it!!
Thank you so much for reacting to this show. I know a lot of people say that Game of Thrones gets more views, which may be true but this show is such a relic and yet so many reactors just pass by it. So thank you for taking the time to react to it and I hope you enjoy.
LOL if an Italian on the east coast tells you they’re in waste management… it’s mafia. Glad you guys are watching this show. Best series I ve ever seen. Of course I’m a bit biased it takes place right where I live and part of my heritage is Italian
I haven’t seen the show since it first came out, and I loved it. Watching it again with you two makes me realize how wonderful the show was and how very well written it was!!
Yes!!!!! Best decision you ever made. You won’t regret it. This is the GOAT TV show. Stick with it. It has a slow beginning but gets better and better each season.
I am so glad you both are doing Sopranos. Just finished the Breaking Bad series with you and it was a great ride, needed something more! Thanks Asia & BJ...

You guys are picking top quality shows ! Sopranos is one hell of a journey into the world of mafia but with deep elements of human psychology, relationships and male mental health issues.
Great react! Before this show cable TV was all movies or niche shows. This is the show that revolutionized TV and also put HBO into the stratosphere. So glad you watched this!
If you like James Galdofini, you have to watch True Romance. It has Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Dennis Hopper, Val Kilmer, Gary Oldman, Brad Pitt, Christopher Walken, Samuel L. Jackson, James Gandolfini, Tom Sizemore, Chris Penn, and a few others you might reconize. Great movie.

I have not watched The Sopranos since it aired. My Dad and I watched every Sunday night. It was event TV before event TV was a thing. Hey guys. A little info for you, but no spoilers. Those guys are in the waste mngmnt business. Thats one of the businesses they have their hands in. The strip club belongs to Silvio, he's the one who torched the restaurant, and he runs that club. They burned out Arties restaurant so that Uncle Junior couldn't kill the guy there that he wanted to hit. Tony going to a shrink is a big deal because if the mob guys found out they might be afraid he was going to talk about things he shouldn't. Y'all are going to love this series. It is really good.
How exciting! Love this show. I've rewatched the series about 2-3x's since the series ended. All of the cast is basically from my neck of the woods. Happy to see you guys react! I find that the pilot(Ep.1) is a great set up, but the show (Eps. 2 and on) is way better. We were were all versed in Waste Management, Construction and Meat Store operations after this series.
I’ve seen the complete series 3 or 4 times from beginning to end. I own the complete series on Blu-Ray and can watch it as often as I want. And I agree it is one of the best show ever put on television, period. It is brutal and honest regarding the Cosa Nostra lifestyle. And I believe David Chase loosely based it from the real life mafia family, the DeCavalcante family, from New Jersey. It is well worth watching and I can guarantee you will like it. Plus the more you watch it you will start to see things you never noticed the first time.

Probably the greatest pilot I have ever seen. The way Tony was introduced and how he described his line of work to Melfi. We will never see another show like this in our lifetime.
My favourite tv show ever. There is not a single character in this show that is completely likeable. Just like all of us, they are all deeply flawed human beings. You will laugh, cry and at times be shocked but by the end you will be in Tony's corner. Enjoy the ride.
