- Live versions of the songs, filmed in an old Pompeii amphitheater. Songs included are Echoes (split into 2 parts), Careful with that axe, Eugene, A saucerful of secrets, One of those days, Set the controls for the heart of the sun, Mademoiselle nobbs (Seamus, but with Rick's dog on vocals). "Careful" and "Set the controls" are shot at night with minimal lighting, setting a beautiful mood. And the live Saucerful just has to be seen, with Waters jumping around in the sunlight banging the huge gong. The 80-minute version features studio footage from the recordings of Dark side of the Moon, with alternate versions of Us and them, On the run and Brain Damage, as well as interviews with the band.
Pink Floyd filmed playing live in an ampitheatre in Pompeii. Several tracks from 'Meddle' as well as earlier LPs are included. Also includes interviews and clips of the band working at Abbey Road studios on what would become their landmark 'Dark Side Of The Moon' release. - เพลง

I just had a horrible day, thank you.✌️
I believe in you too bro
Rick Wright Is So Underrated. So Many People Leave Him Out of the Equation. He Had So Much Talent.
We share the same bday. July 28th.
Waters is the inventor, Gilmour is the heart, Mason is the muscle and Rick the cherry on the top of the cake!
@@lgomesdix he's much more than a cherry on top of a cake my friend.
Syd,… Syd was the creator, there would be no Pink Floyd without Syd. He was a brilliant mo fo, till he lost it.
Oh how I love the Pompeii ‘concert’ so epic
As I've gotten older I've gained a real appreciation for their older stuff.
Me too 😂
Me too.
This was my favorite era of Pink Floyd, still is
Ditto
Meddle and Piper at the Gates Dawn are fantastic ❤😊
All these years, I knew about the Pompeii album but never watched/listened to it. My loss. But we live in amazing times when I can catch up on TH-cam. I’ve caught up on so much good music I missed and discovered music I’d never heard of. Who could have imagined 40-50 years ago we could have instant access to so much great music. The internet is kind of like fire, it can be destructive or beneficial depending on how you use it. I choose beneficial, got no time for destruction.
Kindly share some links that your found from your finding from TH-cam .. Thanks in advance
This has to be one of those very rare seminal moments in the history of music
indeed it is...
The Berlin Wall is another moment. My 7th grade English teacher got to witness the teardown. Pink Floyd is just on a whole nother level
I went to Pompeii and spent all day looking for this amphitheater. Finally found it. Pompeii is larger than you might think.
Hamhead…funny story. I went there 2 years ago and first thing i did was ask where it was. It was pretty far away and was surreal to be standing in the middle of the amphitheater. INCREDIBLE!!
Pompeii has two entrances, The second one is near to the amphitheater.
Like you guys, it was several hours before we found it. Anyway every step was worth it, such a magical place.
Im going to Pompeii this summer! Might wear a floyd shirt with floyd the barber in pink. Can't be too on the nose.
They have only uncovered a small part of it. Its huge. In fact, recently they uncovered new wall paintings and mosaics, that look unbelievably fresh.
My brother had this on video in the 80’s. We all used to drop acid and watch it. Great days
One of the greatest music films made. Use to get stoned out of my mind and watch this masterpiece.
Pretty much the universal experience for all of us back then. 😂😂😂
@@misterE-1989 i am 79 and still do! It is legal now in Germany! Cheers!
Take it easy on acids because you are more for eternity than for life. @@legion_prex3650
I think the best hard/medium/or mild tripling content thats ever existed.
You can just feel how great the chemistry is here. Each instrument perfectly in sync with the others. This is how magic happens, and it definitely happened here.
Man, what a concert. Best versions of echoes and sucerful of secrets. I've loved it for 47 years.
Its taken until Im 53 to realise just how pivotal this idea is in the history of music.
Its unlikely 4 humans will ever make anything as good as this again, certainly not with the resources available to these guys at the time.
I used to be dismissive of Floyd but now at the age of 53, I realise I was just a young naive blinkered pr1ck.
"Echoes" is a sheer work of art that nobody in the future will ever surpass.
Bless you Richard Wright, R.I.P.
One afternoon I ran away from school with three of my friends to go to the cinema to see this film. There's emotion... so many memories. It was 1975.
I was in a hippy band in the early 70s , we used to do Echoes as our end of the night tune ... We had a residency at an inner city pub , the singer would announce we were taking a a break and then we would play Echoes ... the place would empty , the manager would scratch his head , then a bunch of red eyed stumblers would flood back in and sit on the dance floor and bliss out for the 20 plus minutes we wrung it out to ... Listening to this again after all this time , I would opine we made a pretty fair fist of it ... All concerned went on to long musical careers , and most of us are still gigging
Echoes is a really poetic and insightful choice at this site. A ghostly intro, an emotive and empathetic message. It's like part epic, part love letter to this ancient tomb. The lyrics can even be interpreted like it were a villager's perspective. The town living in the shadow of the volcano, now an echo of a distant time, the chaos and confusion which suddenly befell upon the people, and a sort of unrequited love, a sorrowful existential impasse. As they say, dust to dust, ashes to ashes... Or: All we are is dust in the wind...
I've seen these brilliant guys three different times beginning with the Dark Side of the Moon and of course I saw the animals in 77 in the wall in 1980 in Los Angeles. One of the most brilliant bands I've ever heard❤😊
the best live version of song in history

After 100+ times it's still fucking awesome. Dave is so into it. They had no idea what they were creating at the time.
I love how Mason loses a drumstick during " one of these days" and completely holds the rhythm while grabbing a spare. Awesome !
I saw Tommy Ramone do that too
He also does that on the second part of echoes I think
Drummers do that all the time
Any drummer worth their salt can do that.
good trip to all...
Paris 1977. Huge screen at a cinema. Explosivly loud, and I was completely blown away!! Couldn't have been better.
One of the best musical performances to ever be renditioned live. Dare I say best ever. Phenomenal honestly. Glad I'm around at the relatively same time as pink Floyd to hear what they have for man kind
A band way ahead of their time here it 2024 and their music 🎵 is still blowing everyones mind
Rogers bassline starting at 8:55 is so slick and groovy. Upsets me when people say Roger wasn’t a good bassist because he’s killing it here.
Honestly, I don't think people down him because of his lack of musical skills. Research his history. He's an ahole.
Они забыли one of these days
Maybe it is becaus being a rock band bassist is not like being a funky band bassist.. The rock bassist ismore " in the back".. Waters plays his role perfectly. For me he is, of course, among the greatest.
@@TheGuitarellaon like 1/2 the songs it’s David playing bass
Waters was an excellent bassist. Floyd was the Best!
Cant even imagine how important was for them to give this amazing performance in such a place, full of memories, and history!
it's like the 10th time i've heard this song this week and i still get chills when nick mason does his drum solo
Young kids made it to the stars. What a life. Never took music seriously.
You’re obviously not talking about Pink Floyd.
It is a joy to watch Nick Mason at work.
Great video and sound quality. This is one of the Crown Jewels in music history, and only a tiny handful of people saw it live. Thanks to The Powers That Be for video. Brilliant performances by everyone, with a special salute to the brilliant drumming of Nick Mason. I will never get tired of watching this!
There's a wonderful story about the director going back there for the reissue of this movie to scout for images & locations and a local tourist company was hired to show him around and it turned out that the driver and guide were once little street urchins who followed the crew around everywhere and were privileged to watch the gig! ...they said it totally changed their life and reminded them that there was life outside in the world around them
The lords my Shepard have a great day today youtube.
My biggest regret in life - not being one of the stagehands at Pompeii
🤣🤣🤣 I don't think that was probably much fun! Seen the guy on TH-cam that recreated the gear and then the concert?
You were probably 7 years old
been there my friend, i hear you
so what? leave peoples dreams alone @@gradygordon453
Don’t worry mate. That concert was only for the cameras when they made the movie “concert at pompeii”. I remember when the movie came out and watching it in an historical movie theatre. Great stuff
The greatest live performance in front of ghosts and pure memories.
I never tire of listening to Dave Gilmour. Thanks for sharing!
So young, and skilled... and beautiful. 🤘
Once of my earliest memories in life is watching this VHS in my grandmas basement, where we lived at the time... Also The Wall movie.. i had to have been like 2 or 3 yrs old 88-89ish.. lol.. My parents were awesome.
My friends and I used to watch this on a regular bases drunk and high as hell. I wish I could go back in time and be in that time and place again.
One of the greatest Live performances ever filmed and remains a Top 3 for Pink Floyd.
Epic, nothing to add. I don't think there will be more like Pink Floyd in history. Maybe when I'm gone...
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is Pink Floyd phase 2! Not even they themselves were able to be PF anymore.... it lasted until 1979!
There Wont Be Anyone like this again. Music is now a Dead Art. If You want something Good Go Underground as it Will NEVER Be Found in Mainstream.
No there won’t sadly. 😔. At least we got to experience it though
if you like this type of music you had to check the "lennon claypool delirium " project a band formed with sean lennon (son of john lennon) and les claypool (bassist of primus) a few year ago who got some nice inspiration from pink floyd
This concert has been with me since 1987 when it was broadcast on Polish TV for the first time. And it always will be until the rest of my life. My father called the mid part of the Echoes "the Vultures"
a quell'epoca avevo 3 anni e vivo a 5 km da Pompei, e sapere che i Pink Floyd hanno suonato nella mia terra me ne fa tanto onore
I love this, some of the best songs from old Floyd.
This is the most amazing thing I've ever heard ❤❤❤
Un des groupes les plus créatifs ! Leur musique est unique ...Tous excellents musiciens !
How awesome. Such an insane interlayer of sounds, history, and existential undertone
Sure you're cool...but you'll never be shirtless David Gilmour rocking out in an abandoned Roman ampitheatre cool
Someone said as they played into the night a thousand eyes were upon them. I could feel that , what a feeling , what a marvelous band , what a concept , pompeii.
pink floyd have always been professional noise makers, and thats what I absolutely love about this band so much
Ho visto questo video decine di volte e ancora adesso mi emoziono...e piango !!!
_Mi associo al tuo commento !
Playing in an ancient amphitheater is both Spinal Tap-ish and absolutely awesome.
Even though John Bonham is my all time favorite drummer, this concert showed the talent, skill and energy Nick had. Puts him right up there in 2nd place. :) This concert is beyond great. I'm loving every moment of it. Brings back memories of all the great music, that the great musicians were putting out, one after another, back in the day. I'm glad I was apart of it. :)

Esto no solo es musica es la escencia de la musica en si misma, un obra de arte, del mejor grupo de rock de la historia, larga vida Pink Floyd.

I LOVE Pink Floyd 🙂
Pink Floyd will still be as relevant and progressive in year 2099 and beyond. Mark my words. Who all agrees with me?❤
Just excellent.thanks for sharing and making my day.👍
I've always thought of Nick Mason being a great "playing to the song" drummer like Ringo but he is absolutely killing it here.
You've been smoking way too much weed
Too bad Pink Floyd didn't stay this way, so innovative, ambitious, grounded and musically growing. After awile the pressures of making record executives more wealthy while not getting any significant portions of what is fairly deserved, challenging. Big egos start to form on who's getting what or not and what contributions are being made to deserve such treatment. Here that was further from their minds ✌🏽❤️
Gracias por subir está eminencia ❤
Thanks! Brought back exquisite memories of that time!
Thanks!

I'm impressed they could find AC outlets to plug in all that equipment at a 2000 year old stadium. Those Romans really were ahead of their time.
Lol😂
Other than the wine, the AC outlets, the roads, and the aqueduct’s… what have the Roman’s ever done for us?

MI BANDA FAVORITA
DE CULTO ESTE ALBUM
*THE* concert. Period.
I still have it on VHS. And a bootleg of The Wall in New York in 1980, on DVD.
Actually went to 4 of the 7 shows they did in Cali. Sports Arena, February 1980. Cost 100 dollars for 2 tickets to each of the 4 shows, I went to.
You had to send a cashiers check, with a letter telling what days you would like and how many tickets. You had to figure out how much money you had to send.
I got the first 3 shows and the last one. Main floor, right in the middle for every night. It was great.
First night, the screen started on fire almost as soon as they started to use it. They had to stop the show for like 40 minutes, to replace the screen. And started over, seeing how it happen right at the beginning of the show.
The last night, I had to walk home down the 405 in the pouring raining, back to the south bay. I didn't have a ride. Got to Torrance Blvd. around 4am.
In fact, I never had a ride to any of the shows. Always found a ride to the shows, and found someone there to get a ride back to the south bay. But not that last night.
And I could never find anyone to go to any of the shows with. My roommate worked nights. So I wasted the other tickets, for each of the shows. They were big on - no scalping, then. Or might of tried to sell them to someone. But never saw a crowd of people looking for tickets, either.
What can you do... I had a blast each night. Even in the rain, walking down the freeway shoulder.
This was truly beautiful... wow
Una vida sin Pink Floyd no es vida.
So many people have never seen this, it shows how good Nick Mason and Rick Wright are/we're.

I went to this exact spot a few months ago and had no idea this video even existed. They had a whole exhibition of photos from that day, inc the setup and the event posters and the band performing, etc. I finally just watched it here and now, omg this is amazing. Cant believe I was never made to watch this
Seamas was so under-rated. People underestimate his howling ability. There would be no Floyd without that doggie
Seamus. Absolutely!

Visited in 2019. Entered via the back gate. As we passed through the portal into the Amphitheatre, one could hear Echoes playing softly. The hair on my neck stood straight up. What an experience. The whole complex is amazing. Visit if you can. Many more ruins here and in Rome are opening every few years. A wonderful country, people, food, wine, architecture, and history.
