The 'i' stands for 'eye' - to convey that the console has a camera.

I'm guessing it probably just been sitting for a while on the battery contact somehow oxidised.

  • @AWalYT

I'd refrain from formatting any DSis. The eShop service has been discontinued, so you cannot install new software without hacking the console.
Not to mention that you'll have to open that console again if you do decide to install any software. Current methods to gain lower level access to the system require either installed DSiWare, or rewriting parts of the device's eMMC.

I'm new to the DSi modding scene but there is a way to install DSiWare on a original console, no CFW. I deleted the DSi browser 10 years ago, and a week ago i was able to get it back. And not from the DSi shop of course. I know it's useless but i wanted to have it anyway.
The only risk with doing that is that you must not exceed available memory blocks on your console, otherwise guaranteed brick.
Anyway, i used the Memory Pit exploit, TWLnf, and CTRtool (to convert apps from CIA to APP)
However there are of course more detailed guides online, but it's just to say that it isn't impossible on a clean console.

    • @AWalYT
      @AWalYT 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@gio0042 Memory pit is the shizz...Unfortunately it showed up just a few months after I got all the gear together to brute force my systems. You bet the moment I found out about that I was telling everyone that still had a DSI lol.

@@AWalYT I was lucky lol, a week ago i decided out of nowhere to use my DSi after 10 years and mod it, i found a guide, and in 2 minutes i was playing backups like i used to do 10 years ago with the R4 card. It was very easy for me with this exploit, i guess it's a new thing but i never modded a DSi in my entire life before so i didn't know what options were available before... And it isn't permanent either so if someone doesn't want to mess with the NAND it's perfect.
Yesterday i ended up installing Unlaunch because i needed full access to Slot 1 tl edit a save in a cartridge, and i can say i should've done it way before. I can't imagine my DSi without it now, it's so useful and in case of brick i can restore a NAND backup

@@gio0042 Yeah. As far as homebrew accessibility on the DSi goes they made more progress in 2019 compared to pretty much any year previous lol.

Nice video,it really helped. I have the exact same DSi as you and it has the same problem. I checked the fuse and it has no continuity. So I will try the fuse cable and hope it works, because the f1 fuse is too small and I lack both skill and tools to actually put a new one in. If you have any suggestions on how to resolve the problem or if the fuse cable isn't meant for long term use please let me know. Thanks

  • @jjthedark

Hey near the end where you have it working and then you are working on putting it back together it cuts away to you powering it on again and it not working. I had a similar issue, it was working and then nothing. What had happened was when I was testing the battery I got it flipped upside down and touched the connectors for a split second. This resulted in burning out the F1 fuse. Maybe check the fuse again if you haven't already fixed this?

@@olivareszaragozadiegoisrae5685 Hey! I actually did after many hours of studying the schematic for my DSi XL, I had to replace the power board (the board that holds the battery and sends it's power to the motherboard.) For whatever reason when I reassembled my DSi that component stopped working. Even though it was working fine before I took apart the DS, it went bad after I resembled the Dsi. I bought a replacement for my DSi XL for 15 bucks. I would try ordering a new power board, at least it's the best thing to try because the orange blinking light just means the power from the battery isn't reaching the motherboard. Hi dude, I have an issue with this console I thought I’d ask incase you have some insight.
It just freezes like mad. It’s not the reader slot because I’ve cleaned it and all contacts look fine, it even freezes without a game in. Sometimes when I hold the power button to reset it it doesn’t come on straight away, it’ll show the blue light and no image but then misty it does come on, plays games for a little while and small tap or shake or sometimes even left on a table to play the intro of some games it’ll just freeze up and crash. I’ve looked everywhere and at first I thought it might have been the upper screen ribbon cable but then again I don’t have any screen problems whatsoever.
Does this sound like it may be coming from the same fuse or board you mentioned? I’ve cleaned a tiny bit of gunk on the white part underneath the fuse and it seems you also have a bit on the same spot at 8:40 where the back of the battery pins are soldered.
I really would appreciate any help with this because it’s driving me up the bend and there’s seems to be no information online about anything similar.
I’ve done every software related solution and ruled out that possibility entirely
