The frustration WAS the service, they made it out with a hefty markup, the more valuable parts of Eevee's devices, all whilst holding them hostage for months on end.
The lesson from this video is: Don't trust a random guy to fix your broken things, do it yourself or do some research to find a good guy how's really good on fixing
Your experience was *baaaaaad* the screen flickering is so very simple to fix that anyone with the barest experience could sort in minutes. I really enjoy fixing ds they're pretty simple to sort so long as you get the right parts ^^'
RIP for your ds and thank you for the warning! I'm always leaning towards doing my own repairs but sometimes the shop prices are pretty good. Definitely going to try repair my own stuff from now on and only THEN if I break it I'll take it to the tiny repair shop 😂
Having dug into a few ds systems: Ds #1: sounds like he either couldn't plug in the top screen ribbon cable completely (admittedly somewhat tricky), or he damaged the port it plugs into (really fragile and easy to do) Thr pink ds: there's actually a plastic screen or lens over the top lcd. He likely left whatever plastic covering it came with as your old screen protector may have been difficult to salvage. Also the wait time way very likely due to him ordering the case from a Chinese based seller, further supported by the cheap look. I still couldnt say what the pink screen is about for sure. It may have to deal with the capture card as I have never dealt with those. All in all this guy either didnt know what he was doing or could have been way more upfront.

I had a story quite similar to this So buckle up and listen to my story. (Its a long one) So this was about 3-4 years ago and we had a broken coral pink 3DS that wouldnt turn on and had a few cracks so we decided to send it to a repair company he said it would take 2 weeks so we waited and since I had another 3DS I played some pokemon (White 2 if your interested) while waiting, finally the two weeks had been up so we called him again and he answered to us saying it’ll another week and I just went with it. (Mind you the company seemed pretty shady) 3 WHOLE MONTHS PASSED and then we got the 3DS back. Like most people would when I got the 3DS back it still wouldnt even TURN ON. At this point I was pissed and decided to leave it. We sent in a few other things as well as the 3DS and they worked perfectly fine. Thanks for listening to my story!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!! It goes straight to the point,it gives a good story and it gives a video of the ds and what it actually looks like!!!!!
Yeah there are reasons why I got a Nintendo 2Ds one they're pretty cheap 💵 and two since the 2Ds can't fold I don't have to worry getting a broken hinge
They are very expensive, and don't work with European/British GameCubes, so she would have to import the cables, a GameCube, and a GameBoy Player startup disc from America or Japan to be able to use them
If I was in your position, I'd get some silver tape and fix the hinge myself. Would it look ugly af? Yes. Would it be less practical to use? Yes. Would it be better than being inconvenienced to go to a shady place to fix the stuff? Yes. Would it save money on both the fixing service and the new casing? Yes.
I haven't been this early. But damn. This is probably really bad.edit:NO I DONT MEAN THE VIDEO. I MEAN THE DS THING. IF ITS NOT FIXED THEN IT CAN BE REALLY BAD.
I remember my red 3DS. Ah, such a small 3DS. I had it for a long time, every since I got Pokémon alpha sapphire. After a couple years, I got a galaxy Nintendo 3DS XL. I loved it. it was so much bigger than my red one that I couldn’t even get used to my old one anymore. I still used it though, usually to trade my Pokémon over to the other game. One day, I go to elementary school feeling that I will have a normal day. After school, I went home to try and find my second charger so I could plug in my red 3DS. I couldn’t find it so I simply asked my mom where it was. She looked rather guilty and suspicious. Once again I asked what happened to it. She then told me that while I was gone, she decided to vacuum the house. She blamed it on me for this. Part of my charger was hanging a tiny bit on the groundwork from the outlet being low on the wall. She said she was trying to clean around the area of the outlet and vacuumed the charger which was now torn into pieces.
I know its been ages but, i feel sorry for you, for the charger and your mom, she shouldn't have blamed you, the socket was low she knew this and (i think) thay it would be obvious a charger on the wall, she should have seen it, its not your fault
When you change the shell on a DS, the outer protective plastic covering the LCD is usually also changed because the bezel is colored to match the case. He didn't swap your screen protectors, he changed the case like you asked. The rest I can't speak for, but it was likely either someone new to console repair fixing the problems, or just a series of unfortunate coincidences. It happens, believe me.

One time I dropped my ds, and not only did the hinge break, but the top screen was all black, no matter if you tried to fix it yourself. I ended up getting a new ds, but it is currently the new 3ds xl. I previously had the 3ds. And my brother left his 2ds on a bus. Lucky who found it!

I can say, yeah spares and repairs are a thing since I did that with my broken 3ds on ebay. I hope whoever bought my old broken 3ds looks after it, I loved it a lot and it broke my heart when the wire broke inside of it. It functioned but if I put my screen to far back, it would turn off. I have a 2ds now and I love that aswell. :D
Luvie I can relate to your story. My old PS3 slim's Lazer broke back in February 2015. Luckily I found a repair shop by my house and they fixed it up. They said it was a brand new Lazer and everything worked fine. But unfortunately, I let my brother in law borrow my console in April 2016 so he can play some games, and while he was playing The Last of Us, the lazer broke again!!!! Long story short, my ps3 ran into more problems and I eventually just bought a new PS3 super slim. Either the people who fixed it did something to cause my ps3 to kick the bucket after the second Lazer failed, or it just died of old age. And as I was trying to get it fixed again, the repair shop people were just giving me excuses on why they took so long to fix it, blah blah balh, which led me to buy another brand new console. Either repair shops can really help you out, or just completely fuck you over! So much for a new Lazer, it only lasted a year!!!!!
TBF the lazer may have actually been new. You had it 3 months working. It was probably a defective lazer they bought. Unfortunate fact is new products are sometimes defective.

@Black Slenderman no, it has no GBA support.

No. This is incorrect and the hinges have electronics in them and putting clay around it wont allow it to fold or it won’t hold.
I have never seen a Nintendo ds screen actually go blank, so I guess take comfort in the fact you have a pretty unique ds. Glad it still worked.

when my DS lite needed a repair for a broken hinge my dad sent it to repair and they gave it an ugly dark blue uncomfortable feeling case where the buttons worked worse than before and the buttons weren't even the problem!!!
Steampunk Goat How do People break the hinges? My First DS(lite), was really abused (sometimes thrown, or being hit), and to this day, it still is fine (exept for the hard to Press D-Pad), it was left for 5 years, in the shelf, and still had full Batterie. Now I have 15 DS Consoles, and the only Issue I had with them, were dead Pixels (that were there, when I bought it used)

Just, if there's a hole in the side, get it replaced, happened to my little bro, and something happened to my old one, it crashes and displays an annoying warning after 20 seconds of being connected to the internet. We both got replacements and turns out, ironically, we both got the inverse colors of our old 2DSs for our replacements

I did end up having to buy 2 lcd screens because I accidentally ripped the cable on the first lcd after the repair. i broke my 3DS XL last year
When me and my family were going camping, i decided to bring my 3DS
left it out in the rain, started up for a second, immediately shut down
Tried rice, didnt work
we decided to order a new 3DS XL (broken one is on the shelf, majora's mask, new one is a pikachu one, currently fine, still use it to this day)
Now finally the Logan Comment bot made a comment that related to the video.

@@airplane6417 rain doesn't affect the battery, its definitely a short-circuit inside that fried some electronics

What? I’m not a confrontational person either but I still would’ve refused to pay for that! He failed to provide the service he promised and so shouldn’t be entitled to the payment! What a dingus!
Those scam artists live and thrive off of people who are too afraid of confrontation to raise Cain over their mistakes and refuse to pay. As much as it pisses me off that they get away with it ... I do it too >_> so much. I treat it more like pay to get the hell out of here than to pay for my product, then proceed to let everyone I know to stay far away from them.

The frustration WAS the service, they made it out with a hefty markup, the more valuable parts of Eevee's devices, all whilst holding them hostage for months on end.

Well, I'm sorry you had to go through all that just to get your DS repaired. Anyways, this is some lovely animation I'm seeing.
Having dug into a few ds systems:
Ds #1: sounds like he either couldn't plug in the top screen ribbon cable completely (admittedly somewhat tricky), or he damaged the port it plugs into (really fragile and easy to do)
Thr pink ds: there's actually a plastic screen or lens over the top lcd.
I'm recasing my old DS Lite right now!

I had a story quite similar to this
So buckle up and listen to my story. (Its a long one)
So this was about 3-4 years ago and we had a broken coral pink 3DS that wouldnt turn on and had a few cracks so we decided to send it to a repair company he said it would take 2 weeks so we waited and since I had another 3DS I played some pokemon (White 2 if your interested) while waiting, finally the two weeks had been up so we called him again and he answered to us saying it’ll another week and I just went with it.

You can stop the screen flickering by turning a small trim pot near the battery under its cover. Just don't break the pot :)
Yes.

She said she was trying to clean around the area of the outlet and vacuumed the charger which was now torn into pieces.
game ing
I know its been ages but, i feel sorry for you, for the charger and your mom, she shouldn't have blamed you, the socket was low she knew this and (i think) thay it would be obvious a charger on the wall, she should have seen it, its not your fault
o_o
There's a reason the side of my bed where the chargers are is off limits for vacuuming. Also, damn you have a powerful vacuum.
i hate when parents blame their kids for what they obviously did
Wow if I went to that place I would never come back again
Your drawings are sO CUTE
When you change the shell on a DS, the outer protective plastic covering the LCD is usually also changed because the bezel is colored to match the case. He didn't swap your screen protectors, he changed the case like you asked. The rest I can't speak for, but it was likely either someone new to console repair fixing the problems, or just a series of unfortunate coincidences. It happens, believe me.

Smh as a tech i can't stand howthe tech industry takes advantige of people's ignorence.
CAN HE FIX IT? No, apparently he can not.
