Wow! That view from Franconia Ridge is really something. I haven't done that yet. Not sure how far away from Mahoosuc Notch you are now, but remember to save something for the climb up Mahoosuc arm. It's a steep one. Plan on staying at the Speck Pond Shelter. I'm a hammocker like you and I got lucky. The shelter and platforms were full so the caretaker let me set up anywhere I wanted. Found a spot right next to the pond. Watched the sun set over the water with the mountains in the distance... Fell asleep listening to the trout splashing around in the pond. Never will forget that.
Hey TC. This is Lighthouse. I know our paths haven't crossed again since Damascus, so it was quite a surprise to stumble across your channel and in a way "catch up" with your journey. Anyway, I realize your videos are a couple weeks behind realtime, so hopefully you've summitted or will be soon. I summitted Aug. 7th and it's just been a hazy week of readjustment for me.
You are so content, so happy. This trail is good for you and has changed your life forever. You are a long distance athlete now and everything is easier, happier and fun because you are this athlete. This is what you walked the entire way from Georgia for. You have trained for 5 months and now you are in the show, the big time. Enjoy it. Enjoy the process. Keep smiling and hiking strong because it will be over far too soon. Just rely on the fact that the best is yet to come! geek
Absolutely love your videos! Glad to see you are still crushing it! The AT is soooo hard, much respect! Should rock the scooby Doo backpack permanently! -Chris (met crater lake nj)
Vermont ✔️Welcome to New Hampshire!! 😊 Also 1,800 miles!! 👏👏👏👏. What a nice surprise getting that pie on trail!! 🥧 yum! You are doing great. You look so happy! You did those hard climbs really good! Especially that 🪜 Yikes!! Take care walk slowly and have a good week!! 💪☔️🇺🇸🥾😎🏕️🧗♀️
I love all the "superlatives" of the AT and as a NH hiker, I take pride that we have one of them in our state (The steepest mile of the AT is going up Wildcat D) and another JUST outside (The hardest mile of the AT is Mahoosuc Notch, just after you leave NH). But I always stay that Beaver Brook Trail going down Moosilauke should be "The Most Notorious Trail in the AT." Whoever though "yea, lets put a trail on steep rock slabs next to a waterfall and put wooden steps that will always be slick and wet to "help" folks out maybe was not the sharpest tool in the shed. But you made it down safe so it's all good!
So I heard a SOBO mention that they do 80% of work at 20% of distance while NOBOs do 80% of distance with 20% of hard work. So I guess the last 2 or 3 states are the hardest... Thoughts?
I guess my primary thought is that it’s the same trail… so the same work. I think that NOBOs work through the mental game before getting to the hardest climbs on trail while SOBOS go through the tough stuff first. Both go through the same, it’s just a matter of when in their hike they experience it. But at the end of the day, it’s 2,198 miles whether or not you go north or south.
wow , your doing so good and making great time. You become more upbeat the further you get into the journey. Do you plan to have a TH-cam channel once your finish the trail? I've been enjoying your trip and would so like to see more of your adventures. Wishing you and your trail mates all the best. Keep your positive outlook. Your doing great!
@@appalachianadventurista Glad to hear that your going to continue your channel. I understand that you will need some downtime after your journey is complete. Your positive attitude inspires me. Enjoy the rest of your trip and be safe!
As an Australian, I'm not familiar with the expression "podunk nowhere" How or where would you use it? Im guessing, it might be like our "back of Bourke" euphemisms for anywhere remote.
When Moose thruhiked the Colorado Trail, he came across a moose and talked to it until it crossed the trail. He saw the most moose of us all in the northeast as well.
A couple of soggy days, but what a great sunny day on Franconia. You certainly all earned those views. Thanks for the update and for taking us with you on your journey. 😊
the "oreo: shroon was "old man of the woods"... good eatin when prepared right.... !
Love how you admire the different flowers and nature in general.

Im guessing, it might be like our "back of Bourke" euphemisms for anywhere remote.
It sounds similar. It’s a euphemism for somewhere deeply rural in the back country. Thanks for asking!
How do you get a trail name of whispering moose? I’m dying to know. LOL
When Moose thruhiked the Colorado Trail, he came across a moose and talked to it until it crossed the trail. He saw the most moose of us all in the northeast as well.
was enjoying watching.intil you stay at too many hostels
