    This projector gets the job done pretty well. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxS9P8zTOcmQg-hH0QeUi3dspOLyYgQ6dH Bear in mind it's a mini projector but all things considered the picture quality is pretty good. The attached photo is of the projector projecting onto my white closet doors. I still have not messed with the settings but I can't wait for our first family movie night on a larger scale. If you have issues with volume not working with your firestick, go into volume settings and you will find your solution there.

      @@TheHookUp 100% and thanks for a super in depth breakdown. Just wanted to chime in, as in the AVS forums, some folks are complaining about noise, and some are perfectly fine, and I noticed that this a LOT to do with how fast the lenses have to move given the refresh rate. So setting the my Apple TV to 50hz significantly lowered the noise, and turning on the setting to match framerate with the content, most content is 24hz and the projector is super super quiet.

    Seems to me very strange that since 10 years, projectors losts pretty much all their optical capabilities, switching to electronic correction.

      yup, same, My old Panasonic pt-ae1000u has a large electronic controlled optical zoom, as well as a good range of vertical as well as horizontal lens shift. Had to use projector centrals calculator while looking at new projectors to be sure they would work, and the x3000i JUST fits my 120" screen at 13' 1", any further back and it would be too big for the screen.

      To be fair despite this video saying these are "high end" projectors (it's a great video despite that), these are far from high end projectors. These are very mid range (even lower end depending on how you look at the market) and slanted towards being more portable so they have fewer features than more traditional projectors that are still being made and are great quality. Projectors have in fact been evolving along that normal path alongside both these more portable themed ones and the massively expanding high end (meaning at least double most of the price of these) Ultra Short Throw projectors which are getting quite good as well.

    I recently picked up the Horizon Pro for only $1,275 so at that price I think it's totally worth it. I don't know about the others but this one does 3D which was one of my factor of upgrading from my Nebula Cosmos Max which is only a 4K projector. It's Horizon Pro is brighter and if you thought the sound of that was great on the video the Cosmos Max is still king to me a it has 4x10W speakers which sounds super nice. The sound didn't matter to me as I have it hooked up via optical to my UE HYPERBOOM if I really want to turn it up.
    I think overall Xgimi makes better projectors then Nebula but Nebula has some standout features as well like their phone app which could create a mouse cursor if you need it. My next projector will definitely be 120Hz and up and maybe a UST but my setup doesn't call for that right now so I could wait. I will be looking into getting a portable 1080p 3D projector this year. It has to have USB-C charging though so we'll see.

I am only using a 6in camera mouting stick to hang it up from the ceiging. I knew mechaniics so I amd not worried. My dangbei is projecting 135in on the wall which is covered with screen material. I could not make full use of it because my live room is not deep enough. But I am very satisfied for using it for both video and computer screen that I don't have to waring reading glass. Some food for thought/discussion:
    The physicist in me grows weary when I see a projector with inherent speakers, especially a subwoofer.
    Projection devices are expected to have inherent vibration protection; insulation-specific hardware and software in order to help nullify picture quality deterioration, caused by the device itself & external ambient vibrations.
    The addition of an internal “sound system” is not necessary, in my opinion. I think using a wireless Bluetooth (5.0+) surround sound system would be best overall for any projection system, static or mobile.
    Just my $0.02.

    Currently have the Xgimi and Dangbei in my home unsure of which to keep. If you order the Dangbei from Amazon right now they throw in a tiny dongle with Android 10.0. Dangbei is brighter but Xgimi has slightly better contrast. The Xgimi speakers blow the Dangbei out of the water. And the Dangbei doesn’t support Blu ray 3D. Hmm .. at 06:09 summary you state the BenQ had measured White Brightness of 1853 ANSI Lumens, but at 7:01 in comparison to factory claims there is Brightness Measured as 2269 ANSI (same number as claimed at 5:48) ?? So there is error somewhere. Maybe because that was measured on different modes .. brightest and standard .. as vaguely stated.

    • @TheHookUp
      @TheHookUp  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can pretty much always assume that a projector company will optimize modes for maximum white brightness when listing ANSI lumens. My point is that even though that mode had the brightest whites, I don't think anyone would watch content in that mode because the colors were so bad.

    I got the dangbei projector given it was the cheapest and I wanted something with high brightness to use in day time as well. I must say projectors will take a while to switch tv owners to move to projectors. The keystone is really bad and the image isn't as bright as I had hoped. It's really nice in dark conditions but most people would not be watching movies in the dark id say it would take a fee more years before all of these projector brands get it right in terms of perfect keystone and projectors suitable for day time viewing like a TV.

    • @TheHookUp
      @TheHookUp  ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you mean by the keystone isn’t perfect? Are you moving it around a lot? If not just do manual keystone and set it and forget it. I will say that if you don’t find the dangbei bright enough it will be a while before a projector can satisfy you because it is one of the brightest projectors I’ve ever tested. I actually use it outside 90% of the time.

      The auto keystone isn't great but manual works fine. But I have it on a stand align it perfectly with the screen anyways. • @VI5H
    @VI5H ปีที่แล้ว

    So I took a chance on the Dangbei recently against my better judgement hoping the Amazon 30 day return will save me in case there's any issues and I have to say I'm really not sure if I got a dud or there is something fundamentally wrong with the projector that every "reviewer" somehow just hasn't picked up on. There was literally only one guy out of all the forums and Amazon reviews , who pointed out the flaw I noticed but he thought it was a fault in his device too as no one else has mentioned it . But I'm not so certain it's not just how the product works, hence why its "cheap".
    There's some kind of weird ghosting that occurs in low lighting scenarios and it creates trails/image retention that makes darker content into a muddy garbled mess. It's kind of reminiscent of plasma phosphor trails that used to be an issue on plasma screens in high contrast areas or compression artifacts but this is only in darker / low contrast areas in motion.
    I noticed this on different sources, PC plugged in via both hdmi , chromecast streaming from my phone and during both movies and gaming. I tried turning off all image processing as much as possible to rule out anything like the MEMC but I suspect it's either something software related and potentially fixable or worse hardware related. I compared the same content on 2 other monitors to make sure it wasn't something in the content but both my LG tv and pc monitor didn't suffer any of these issues and I've never noticed anything like this in the 7 years owning my current Epson projector that this one was supposed to replace.
    The reason I suspect no one noticed is because on bright high contrast content, the kind of stuff that reviewers tend to show, the issue doesn't seem to occur and everything is sharp and dynamic but as soon as darker images overall like night time or darker indoor images are onscreen the issue becomes noticeable and ONLY on moving content.
    It's a shame because prior to noticing that issue my main concern with the projector was the inability to fine tune the colour accuracy. It was leaning too magenta and green and I wanted to try balance that out but there was no way that I could see to do it even with the "advanced" user controls menu. I was going to contract Dangbei to see if they could give me a solution but with this image retention issue , I'm just going to straight up return the projector. Once again as they say if somethings too good to be true, it probably is.
