  • In this video, Wes replaces the old outdated Genie Model 2024 garage door opener with a new Genie Model 7055.
    Welcome to “The Stanley Way” channel where we will cover just about every project that a typical American family will encounter. This is not a “pro how to” channel, just an ordinary guy videoing his own projects.
    Current and future projects include converting two bedrooms and a bath into a movie theater, installing a hybrid water heater, cleaning and painting the garage floor, building a mega shed, Kiwico projects, installing a hybrid solar panel system and many auto repairs.
    We will also post videos of various DIY science projects, mountain bike rides, and whatever else we like to do.
    You may learn something, you may not, but somewhere along the line you will probably laugh as Wes documents even his most embarrassing mistakes.

    You explain things well,
    You’re humble and honest.
    Just a couple of small details not done like the instructions said to do them.
    Rail mounting bracket is supposed to be 2 1/2” to the bottom of the bracket, not the center, look at drawing.
    Pull arm set at 16” from
    DOOR , not from header.
    Anyway no biggie,
    Good job!!
    Thank you!!

    Honestly, you should be doing the videos for Genie! Your video made a world of difference with installing my 7055. Thank you so much for doing this video!

    I have watched A LOT of DIY videos and this is hands down the very best one I have seen! Very easy to follow, and understand.

    Great video. I installed a 3155 model. This video helped. Because of the heat, I did the first part inside in AC. Less than 3 hours because of the many breaks I took. The wiring took the longest because the clips were too small but they worked.

    Thanks for this video. It helped me install the same exact garage door opener. One question regarding wiring…my old garage door opener (an Overhead door model) was wired with 22 gauge wire. Those wires are behind the walls in a finished garage. This Genie model comes with 24 gauge wire. The instructions say to use garage pre-wiring if available. I’d like to do that as the wires will run behind the walls. Do you see any problem with that? Also, can you connect 22 gauge wire with 24 gauge?

      @@robertl9653 in your case yes. You can use the wires that are already installed because they are thicker than your new garage door wires. The lower the gauge size number the bigger the wire. You will have no problems doing this.

    Did you speed up the video at the end of this when you show it open and close? Is there a way to make THIS door opener open faster? I've noticed mine is not fast enough for me.

      I did speed the video up X2 at the end and I am not aware of a way to speed the motor up, sorry. Thanks for watching and for the comment.

    Question.. I have this model, and the belt broke (we recently bought the house). Do you think you could replace the belt, without taking the whole assembly off the ceiling?

    • @TheStanleyWay
      @TheStanleyWay  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it looks like it can be replaced with the unit installed.

    I had bought the same model, and installed today, I think I followed all steps correctly and all lights are ON as expected, but after power-on, the belt doesn't move at all: I just heard a click sound but it doesn't move,, I checked both BILT and Genie and your video here multi-times, still don't know why...

    • @TheStanleyWay
      @TheStanleyWay  ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you set the limits? Mine would not move until I did that.

      after more debug, I figured out, possibly 2 reasons: 1. the belt tension is too tight: I do loose it quite a bit; 2, the wire connection to Safe-T-Beams: I swapped. Working now... great thanks to your video, as I do see your belt is much looser than mine, so I decided to give it a try and it could solve my issue.

      @@icnewer great news, glad you got it going. Yes the belt seems very loose in my opinion but that is how the directions said to do it. I guess they want it just tight enough to keep it on the pulleys with no chance of binding. Thanks for the comment.

    How long did it take, errors and all?

    • @TheStanleyWay

      I believe it only took a few hours, taking my time and videoing (which adds a lot of time). It really wasn’t that bad.
