Bumper Mistake | 9,500 LB Winch Install | Cutting Up An XJ Bumper
In this video, Wes cuts tons of metal off of his winch bumper and installs a winch.
Welcome to “The Stanley Way” channel where we will cover just about every project that a typical American family will encounter. This is not a “pro how to” channel, just an ordinary guy videoing his own projects.
Current and future projects include converting two bedrooms and a bath into a movie theater, installing a hybrid water heater, cleaning and painting the garage floor, building a mega shed, Kiwico projects, installing a hybrid solar panel system and many auto repairs.
We will also post videos of various DIY science projects, mountain bike rides, and whatever else we like to do.
You may learn something, you may not, but somewhere along the line you will probably laugh as Wes documents even his most embarrassing mistakes.

    My 2019 Ford edge AWD made same sounds, but only when turning going forward. I suggested to the dealer that it may be the rear diff fluid. There answer was no way, several people in the service department said it will not fix it. I spent $60 on fluid, changed it and noise gone. Better than the $4000 rear diff change. This was at 51000 miles.

Talked to the dealer again, asked if they do custom LED light ? Replay “no”, went to a mechanic shop, they said they will do so, they installed a set LED headlights slightly blue tint but very dim. Still can’t see anything, went to the auto store to buy the best standard halogen headlights and installed them ourselves. Still can’t see anything, running out of ideas so looking on TH-cam going to attempt to adjust them down wards maybe are aimed too high the headlights seem to be bright just can’t see anything with them. I got a 0400 EGR flow code. I was getting one before, but it was egr valve before, not egr flow. The code went away and I think it smells like exhaust in the car now, not sure because car is always on the road with other exhaust fumes also. I hope it didn't brake down some of my plastic and rubber seals on exhaust system. In summary, I wouldn't do it unless you put a quart in and are able to drive at highway speeds for a long time to burn it up ASAP. @@u.e.u.e. great questions. I can’t remember the mileage at the time of this video but it was in the hundred thousand mile range I think. This test was done 3 years ago so we had it a long time after the test with many miles driven. I used it as a daily driver and drove it every weekend including pulling a trailer with it believe it or not. My daughter graduated college and accepted a job in Texas. She was driving a 1998 Explorer and wanted something more reliable and with better MPG so she took the Fiesta to Texas. She drove it to Texas and used it as a daily driver working 7 days a week with no issues. After making some big money, she traded it in last year and bought another truck. My 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid with 70k miles was fine---then something happened after 5 short driving trips when ABS, Brake, ck engine lights & chime came on. I quickly pulled over. My scan tool reports 4 ABS codes: C0022, U3000, C0001, C1012. What do you suggest I do?

    • @TheStanleyWay
      @TheStanleyWay หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mkd9251 my first question is does the car feel different in any way all of the sudden? Is it hard to brake or steer? Does anything, besides the lights, seem out of the ordinary? If not, how old is your battery? Have your battery checked even if it is new. Bad car batteries can cause many weird symptoms in modern computer operated cars. If your battery is 3 years old or older you may want to replace that first. Have your battery and alternator checked at the same time. A good auto parts store will do this for free. If the battery or alternator aren’t the problem then it could be one bad sensor kicking all of the lights on and sending multiple failure codes. This can be very difficult to troubleshoot in person and would be impossible over comments. If you have the money and know a good mechanic then have it checked out. If you are short in funds then use common sense and make your own decision on whether the car is safe to drive or not. When you have an ABS light on, it just means the computer has detected an ABS issue and has turned the antilock capabilities of the car off. So now you have a car without ABS, meaning if you jam the brakes you will lock up your tires and loose steering control as the car skids. If the car brakes and steers ok and you feel safe driving without ABS then go for it. Make sure to have your brake system inspected to ensure that your brake fluid is topped off and there are no major problems. If the inspection is good and you don’t want to fix it then drive it until you are able to have it fixed.

    Spark plugs and a rear o2 sensor solved my 420 code. 2000 Infiniti i30 250,000 miles. Great car.

    It seems like if a doctor tells you to put a certain amount for a half a tank you should try that in the first time at least instead of doing double what he says I don't know I hope it works out I haven't got to watch the whole video This is where I am in the video right now 2:01

      @@ArkansasMike239 thanks. My main focus was to see if it would harm the car. I added double to use an extreme amount on my own car before I told anyone about it. The car had no ill effects so I tried it on another car with no issues, so I released the video. Check out the pinned comment for the end result.

    Any tips on where to look for the SEL plug?

    • @TheStanleyWay
      @TheStanleyWay 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don’t know anything about the SEL but from what I understand the plug is in the same place it is just a different type. I believe one is a blue plug and the other is a green plug. The SEL being a top model, the wiring is going to be different than mine.
