I like this game because someone whos really competent and has fundies can succeed with almost any character and still go far. Its not impressive seeing a Aegis player do good but seeing a Doctor Mario player get this high is really something special

Ok ok so we have a doc main at our local who all in all isn’t super great at the game technically speaking but his mental game and absolute devious shenanigans are consistently getting him wins he’s goated
2:07 it is really a checkmate situation, because even if shirayuki is using up b, doc can just us cape and make a trade hit. doc would be hit by the up b, and coming back to the platform, and the inkling would doing the up b going to the wrong direction and doesnt have any recovery option left anymore honestly, I believe his recovery is still not optimal. he should have incorporating his cape and spike more in his recovery strategy so if the opponent want to check on him, he can make it into a trade kill instead
I honestly think doc is closer to a mid tier character in this game. I think what makes everyone say he’s one of the worst is just because regular Mario exists like Lucina with marth. doc doesn’t struggle with killing, he has good kill power/damage as well as a fairly annoying projectile but the main thing that makes him a worse pick is his movement speed and how short his up special goes the latter mattering more imo. Doc can’t be nearly as liberal off ledge as Mario and needs to be very systematic when recovering. Cyclone is honestly a pretty strong move in docs move set tho. I think by the end of this games lifespan doc will move up the tier list to a solid mid tier.
Doc will probably not get out of low tier because he’s slow and has bad recovery like Ganon and Little Mac. But he doesn’t deserve his bottom 5 ranking right now.
His lacking speed and crap recovery sucks, but as someone who has played a whole lotta hours of both him and regular Mario... being able to regularly KO things at relatively low percents is really nice. JS.
When I used to play Doc I noticed his grounded cyclone was really good. I used to just love landing on people with it and catch spot dodges. It's pretty good at catching ledge get ups too.
A lot of people may not know about this fact, but if they’re using an attack that doesn’t break the move, he can go right through. I love using this move, especially for down throw full hop down b at 60% for most characters. Heavier characters need a bit more percent for the comfirm to work well near ledge. The downside for this kill setup is if they DI in before you get down thrown.
Doc is so fun to play especially when you get the pill + down spike off stage chef's kiss. If he makes it to the next smash game and the actually decide to buff his recovery he would be one of my mains. He's just too terrible off stage.

Tiers, meta... those things shouldn't even exist in the first place, especially in a fighting game. Many years since the release, and like 4 prequel games, and still there's a huge gap between "top tiers" and "low tiers" :/
I don't think Dr. Mario is bad. More like, his skill floor is really high, but so is his skill celling. You would have to put in a LOT more hours into mastering him. Where as other characters can be mastered more quickly, and it's usually those characters that dominate
I’d argue that the reason doc is not ever going to win a major is because you NEED to solo-main him to reach his full potential, but 1.) you could just be playing Mario, who has better neutral, movement, punish game, and recovery. 2.) you NEED at the very least a pocket for matchups like pika, gnw
I don't think he knows anything about doc, he keeps screaming about using the up-b to combos but doing this actually leaves you wide open, unless the opponents get launched far enough. The reason I say this is the doc has a very slow landing after using it and because its doesn't launch far at a range of (0-55%). Its not worth using unless your opponent is a very light character since the opponent will end up catching you before you even land.
I suppose the dtilt after cape at ledge for the confirm is there to allow the player to react to hitting the string. If Tsumusuto just caped and USpecialed, it could be harder for him to react to connecting cape to avoid not doing it if it's a miss... Then again, I'm not a top player and have no such reaction time.
I couldn't decide who to main since the game came out. It was between bowser and Dr. Mario. I play Dr.M the most, but I always love playing the big slow heavy hitters. Yet bowser kept getting faster every game.
… And it’s about the characters. To say that it’s not, is to say that you’re an idiot who has no idea how this game works. Some characters… are better than others. If you and your opponent are at the same skill level, and one of you is playing an objectively better character… they are going to win more often.
I main doc/ regular Mario and I believe that doc is within mid tier, if he got pushed hard enough I think his final spot would be bottom of high tier but hes definitely not low tier!
… And the character. If two people are of equal skill and knowledge, the better character, or the character that wins the matchup, will decide the winner.
Who gives a fuck about tier lists? Tier lists just state how hard it is to be the best with that character. Top tiers only need one hit to take the stock, while low tiers need to play near perfectly in order to even try to take a stock

Age vs experience. I am not always smarter than a five year old yet Magnus Carlsen and I can always pin it to the internet. There are some 50 year olds unable to beat us at games. A teenager can beat me at Smash from faster reflexes and easier gameplay. Chess requires more precision than video games imo.

man ive only been playing smash since the beginning of the year but well versed in many fighting games.. dr. mario is NOT at the bottom of the tier list imo yeah he can be gimped easily but the guy just kills.. like.. he has some stuff especially with slingshot utilization.

Then I moved from southern Californian to NC, and lost any good internet connection, so I started playing my switch a lot more. And Smash finally got to me. It’s been pretty fun, I’m not sure why traditional FGC roasts it so bad, lol. Anyway, yeah, these kills off Docs aerials is nuts. He hits like a fucking train!
@@KingCuba funny enough im 28 and i live in raleigh and played fighting games pretty much forever whether it was mk back in the day or marvel va capcom or melee. i also play doa, played a ton and i mean a ton of doa5 not so much 6 only because other people werent playing it recently been getting in to tekken (lei is so fun and similar to brad wong, which is my main) but i played it as a kid but not seriously or anything, couldnt combo. played street fighter 5 a lot too as well so almost everything! smash has def been fun though its unique for sure. idk if youve seen the doc player on youtube named alexis or something like that he has a bunch of vids of doc just killing, hes a lot of fun

Doc is my secondary character, and two Japanese players I like was Ron (online Kirby player), and now Tsumusuto because how crack he is.

Just as I commented this he did it at 11:57 cause yeah you can just move along the whole ledge to get EVERYTHING.
It also has armor from frames 2-10 grounded ofc (the armor breaks around 10%).
