- Oliver has been with us for just over two months now! He is almost finished with his second round of EPM medication and has put on over 200 lbs! Now its time for his follow up vet appointment to see how he is doing!!! We are super excited to find out!

We are all about raising and training our horses, the Missouri Foxtrotter. Our goal is to bring awareness to this breed and showcase just how wonderful they are! We also raise and train our working border collie dogs. And don’t forget the homesteads sheep, goats and mini cattle!!! We also go to occasional auctions and recently have gotten into regenerative farming/agriculture. We are all about learning how to improve our fields/soil.

Oliver’s growing up fast, now that he feels so much better he’s really starting to assert himself but he’s still that sweet natured boy. Fingers crossed once he stops the meds he continues to improve, he’s come along leaps & bounds already with such good care 🤗 Don’t forget to hit that Like button people, every one helps the channel.

You can see how much Oliver has grown; 6 weeks ago the horse was smaller than JR’s shoulders. Now JR is starting to look small by Oliver! Wow, Oliver looks so much better.

It means meaty. A little fat. Both are needed in health.

Awe Oliver makes me sad every time you go to loading him, he’s always hesitant. I’m sure all the trauma of being dragged around to all those kill buying auctions! 😢I’m so glad you rescued him!! ❤❤
Yes he was scared that he was going to leave his home, but he went in the trailer because he trust his family, made me cry

I'm so happy to see Oliver doing so well. I wish I could help financially, but my husband and I are finding it challenging to keep up with expenses on the fixed budget of disability retirement for both of us .❤

I will say, while the DE isn’t toxic to humans (and what you have there is food grade, so you can safely ingest it), you DO want to be careful not to inhale it. You or Oliver. It’s recommended to wear a mask when using it. It works by tearing up the exoskeleton of bugs. It’s like them crawling over glass, so you definitely don’t want those little sharp shards in your lungs!!
Your animals are a testament to the knowledge, love and care you give them.

Oliver is a lovable fellow!! I'm so glad for all his improvements. What a sad guy he was at the auction, about to be sent to slaughter. I think he is still gobsmacked at being treated like a royal prince. Colt and Oliver together is a precious sight!
I’m loving these updates. It is great to see that Oliver is going so good. When you look at his picture when you first rescued him to how he looks now, the transformation is amazing. He was defeated. I love seeing Oliver with his sidekick Colt. They bring out the best in each other. God bless Oliver as well as your family.

Everybody loves a good comeback story, especially one like Oliver's. I always think of the first time JR saw him at the auction, standing alone with his head down looking so depressed and beaten down. He probably will forget all that soon, but it all makes me wonder how much he must have hated the horse trailer cause of where he ended up each time when he got off, all the while feeling worse and worse each day, even watching your buddies lay down and die beside you. It's crazy that he isnt tramatized by the year he spent on the road going from auction to auction. And look at him now, he looks so good and settled. I think that was the most surprising for me to see is how fast he settled and got comfortable at his new home. If that's not a good comeback story then idk what is.

Dear Homestead Horsemanship; Diatomaceous Earth is my #1 for spraying dogs for fleas, a small bead around the outside of foundations of structures to prevent any hard shelled insects like scorpions from entering, organic garden tomatoe plants gets rid of cut-worms…I even use the brand a kind person sent…

There is an easier and less wasteful way of powdering Oliver’s feet… place a decent amount of powder into a large basin and place the foot into the basin and proceed to push the powder upwards into the feathers, any over powdering will fall back into the basin ready for the next foot to be treated. Oliver is looking incredible, you should be very proud of your achievements with him. 😄

Good morning 🐎🐓🐕 Oliver looks amazing! Great to see the Vet & Chiro appointment. The Chiropractic adjustments help with the release of tight muscles which help to improve everything including alignment, blood flow and release of waste materials from the muscles that have been tight hence will assist in holistic healing & overall health. Water is good after treatment as it helps further to flush out the newly released toxins from the treatment. Oliver's gait looks good and his proprioception appears to be firing on point however noticed a little lag on the right back leg when trying to right himself while the Vet was testing and a bit of the right back hoof kissing the front right hoof while you were walking him. Oliver has made so many positive gains with your love and care he will get there just takes time. Nerves generally heal at 1mm a day (which is like the top of a sewing pin a day). Nerves are amazingly complicated - Sensory and Motor nerves. A physiotherapist for Oliver maybe a next step consideration. Neat to learn about the leg treatment. Watch out for Colt he likes to kiss Oliver's legs! 🐎Beautiful to see the love Oliver has for you & you all for him. 💝Wishing you all the Best day!💐💐💐💐

I’ve shared Oliver’s videos with my niece, whose older warmblood is battling EPM. It’s been a great encouragement to her. Her horse is on his second round of meds, and although not showing as much recovery as Oliver, it’s encouraged her to be patient and think positive. She is fine with the fact that he won’t ever jump or do eventing again. Her longterm goal is for him to be able to take her on a slow trail ride, but she will be satisfied to just give him a happy retirement. Praying for him and Oliver.

Love to see how Oliver is developing and growing more healthy and beautiful every day. What I was surprised about is that you are breeding him to another horsebreed. I bred Maine Coon cats and it was not the thing to do interbreeding him with another breed. So I am surprised that you are breeding Oliver, a Clydesdale horse with Sioux a Foxtrotter. Can you explane a bit?
Oliver isn't a ShirebHorse, he's the Clydesdale breed.

The DE is if I remember actually from fossils. And how it works is it slices up the bugs and basically causes them to bleed to death
Its causes dehydration. Diatomaceous earth causes insects to dry out and die by absorbing the oils and fats from the cuticle of the insect's exoskeleton. Its sharp edges are abrasive, speeding up the process. It remains effective as long as it is kept dry and undisturbed.
Its incredible the improvement of his health. There's alot of love right there. 💚 He's a handsome guy 🐎 with a lovely temperament ...So tall and majestic 🐴
