Both parts of the tutorial was very well done and clear! I've just purchased a Behringer Xenyx 2222usb mixer and this helped me understand most of the features & nuisances of the board. I am by no means an expert so this definitely helped me out!
Good video! This Behringer is routed almost exactly like my old Mackie 1642VLZ Pro, right down to the configuration of the AUX returns. I use the AUX sends and returns for quadraphonic recording and playback of my reel to reel.
Thank you so much! I just got QX1204USB and I'm learning so much from your videos. Excellent content and great presentation. I'm completely new to this space and your videos have been extremely helpful!
Thank you! I have got to the stage where I know enough to know how little I know (despite stumbling my way through mixing open mics for several months now!) which is just enough to start to understand these things you are teaching. SO VALUABLE! Thanks
Great video. I bought this mixer, and I’m disappointed I can’t do 4 stereo monitor mixes out of the sub outs. I thought these would be associated with the 4 aux knobs on each channel. 😢
Great videos, I just purchased this same mixing board so it was really beneficial to me. For the Direct outs can I use that to go back out to like a bass amp or a guitar amp? I realize that I'll only be able to control the part going through the mixer to the mains
I loved this. But at the end, you showed the FX out connection and all you said was this was really handy. Can you give me more detail on that and how that works? I have a Mackie ProFX 16 and I have that but I'm not sure how it is used. Thank you.
If you aren't using the onboard FX, you can the FX like a 4th Aux mix by using this output. This will bypass onboard FX sending the mix to whatever you patch to from the FX out.
This video / series is very detailed and informative...... but....... I have the Behringer 1204 USB (without FX). It is just different enough that I am thoroughly confused. Even the manual from Behringer skips over the operation and function of the "phones/CTRL ROOM" operation. This is my first ever mixer and I have no formal or informal training. TH-cam seems to have a lot of tutorials on the X1204 USB, but nothing much on the non effects version. How would you suggest that I learn how to use my equipment? I am in Southern California. Thx.
Wow, sorry to hear that you're confused, but I understand. Audio is often confusing at first. I'm always available for virtual training/consultation if you like. The best way to contact me is via my business email: proclaimavllc@gmail.com
I am setting up a worship space in the concrete basement. I have gifted to me a TOa 212. I have 16 homesite panels to place on walls to help kill the echo. Any suggestions would be helpful. It is a very long and wide space. I want to put the stage on the long wall. Where should I set up my pa speakers?( far apart? Or close to stage at an angle? Thank you. Excellent training video.
Consulting is available, check my website for more information. As you can imagine, I get so many of these questions, I can't answer them all unless they help support my family. Glad the video was helpful and thanks for watching!
You can, but unfortunately Sub outs don't let you adjust volume individually per channel, they're just a reflection of what the main Faders are doing. Aux Out is a better choice because each channel has its own adjustment knob. For a mono signal into head phones check out the Behringer P2.
I don't have a board to play with (it's on backorder) But we're getting the Behringer SX2442FX. I believe you touched on it but, we need several monitor mixes. Can you use one of the effects buses as a monitor bus? What about using a sub as a monitor send?
Hi Frank. Yes you can use the FX aux as a monitor feed, just patch in on the back to bypass the onboard FX processor. I talk more about that in the first video starting here: th-cam.com/video/T1y8cjigI4Y/w-d-xo.html By the way you can use the the Submixes for monitors but you only have the same mix as your main mix, no individual channel control, only volume control. Thanks for watchin' !
hi Tim in your previous video you talked about mid EQ and frek. when you have fed back how do you find the frequency and know which channel it's coming from, thank you. Bill Russo
Hi Bill, good to hear from you! Excellent question. I generally use an app on my phone. Since I'm an Android user, I recommend Spectroid by Carl Rienke. It's free. For my iPhone try RTA Audio app which is free as of this comment. Just make some feedback and it will show you what frequency the feedback is on. Thanks!
This is more of a live sound mixer and less a recording mixer. I suppose you could put the stereo output into your Focusrite and then record with the DAW.
Can I use the Control Room Outputs for additional FOH speakers? I'll just mirror the main mix on it, will the audio quality be different vs the main outs? thanks!
QUESTION FOR YOU: Apart from using the USB out - how can I output from the mixer to a computer (ultimately into Reaper) ? Thanks for a solution you can offer.
I have a problem with the same mixer, i.e. the vu meter shows no signs of life when I start a signal from any channel, for example, to start music I use a cable that enters the mixer in the stereo channels with 2 jacks and an aux on the phone, clicking main and raising both faders "main and the channel fader" the vu meter shows no signs, I don't know where to turn
@@proclaimav4197 I have checked over and over again and there are no more clicked buttons, I will try to check again, but I don't think this is the problem. Rather I have a friend who has a mixer of a different brand and to see the vu meter give signs from the main a specific button has to be clicked, if this is also the case on behringer, what would it be?
Well Done! My head started to explode but your explanations prevented that messy occurrence
Glad to hear that your head is intact. 😉
Man, you are the best at this. Bless you
Thanks for the kind words.
Great job! one of the best videos about analog mixers on TH-cam, if not the best so far!
Wow, thanks!
Thank you for this. Perfect to get me back up and running after years of working with VSTs. Quadraverb now running through my desk again.
You are very welcome.

Wow, good old quadraphonic. Haven't seen that in a while, but yeah that would work great. 😀

No problem. Keep mixing - experience comes with practice and mistakes. 😁
well explained. man, thanks for this. very insightful
Super!
Fantastic, thank you!! I’ve been trying to figure out how to route my Lexicon unit with my mixing board! Great video
Glad it was helpful!
Again, great video to complete the series-thanks
Thanks again!
Thank you for this video it was really helpful I can say I am confident now, Much appreciated for this
You're super welcome!
"I am a DJ guy" that's cool. Thank you sir for good demonstration....
Hehe. No disrespect intended. 😁
Thanks.I have bought the Xenyx X1222 USB and this will help a lot !
Great to hear!
great explanation. not seen individual channel line outs before. great feature
Thanks!
Enjoyed your videos.... I have learnt alot from you.
Cheers✌️
Awesome, thank you!
You're a good teacher Sir
Thanks. I appreciate it.
Great job on these tutorials, learned a lot with them. Thank you!
You're very welcome!
Great video. I bought this mixer, and I’m disappointed I can’t do 4 stereo monitor mixes out of the sub outs. I thought these would be associated with the 4 aux knobs on each channel. 😢
Yes, sub outs levels only mirror the main mix. Thanks for watching.
Great videos, I just purchased this same mixing board so it was really beneficial to me. For the Direct outs can I use that to go back out to like a bass amp or a guitar amp? I realize that I'll only be able to control the part going through the mixer to the mains
I haven't tried that but I believe it should work. 🤔
6:15 so my church has a Yamaha MGP16X mixer and there is a button that you can press to send the USB to either 2TR or channel 15/16
Ah yes. That's a better idea I think.

You can use Direct Outputs to a web stream mixer.
Indeed, there are many uses. 👍
Good work, thankyou😍
You're welcome 😊
Thank you so much!!
You're welcome!
Appreciate the vid! Can you use the sub outs for headphones? Say I want my mix a lot more drum heavy and my singer wants it more vocals?
You can, but unfortunately Sub outs don't let you adjust volume individually per channel, they're just a reflection of what the main Faders are doing. Aux Out is a better choice because each channel has its own adjustment knob. For a mono signal into head phones check out the Behringer P2.

@@proclaimav4197 That's what I was hoping you'd say.
Thanks for your informational feedback and your videos as well.
Really helpful - I have the 2442USB - can I ask/send you a few questions?
I'm happy to do consultations. Send me an email at proclaimavllc@gmail.com for details.
hi Tim in your previous video you talked about mid EQ and frek. when you have fed back how do you find the frequency and know which channel it's coming from, thank you.

It would be good to know where the mixer is situated. Is it in-between the DAW and my Focusrite?
This is more of a live sound mixer and less a recording mixer. I suppose you could put the stereo output into your Focusrite and then record with the DAW.
Can I use the Control Room Outputs for additional FOH speakers? I'll just mirror the main mix on it, will the audio quality be different vs the main outs? thanks!
That should work fine. Thanks for watchin' !
Are the inputs/outputs balanced on this unit/model?
Everything except the RCA connections on the top. (Some connections are TRS and not XLR but still balanced.) Thanks for being a subscriber!
can i ask that is sound card can be used for performance stage instead of using this kind of mixer?
You might try a tablet controlled mixer if you are looking for something smaller.
How do I assign Mixer channel strips to DAW channel strips?
Unfortunately, this mixer only has a stereo USB interface. It does not support multitrack recording.
why connect effects processor in send and return. Can i connect fx processor in insert ??
Yes you can if you just want FX on one channel you can insert. If you want FX for a whole mix you can use send/return. 👍
Thx man!
You are quite welcome.
I have a question is the headphones out is it a stereo out left and right?
It is. :)
QUESTION FOR YOU: Apart from using the USB out - how can I output from the mixer to a computer (ultimately into Reaper) ? Thanks for a solution you can offer.
If you want multitrack, you will need a multitrack capture device.
I would check to make sure you don't have some other channel solo button pressed down. Thanks for watching!

Under the "Source" section make sure "Main Mix" is pressed down.
@@proclaimav4197 but isn't that for headphones?
Quite difficult. It‘ll take me quite some time to understand.
You'll get it. I'm a hands on learner, so I find it helpful to actually play around with the equipment to learn.
