They are both making much needed changes and updating the land structure. That which one does not see is normally the ones that are the hardest to put right! I applaud their tenacity! Bringing the home, out buildings and the land back to all being usable. Keep it up guys! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💜💙
The good thing about the rain it is showing you where the problems are early on in the development of your land. You have great determination and work ethic on this mammoth task of moving earth with such small machinery. You are a lovely family and I enjoy your updates. Well done on the teamwork, Odin included, he is getting wonderful life skills experience from two loving hard working parents.
I am with you Fiona - even though I get the creeps when watching him driving on that soaked dam 😱😲 Be very very careful Philippe when and while driving on this dam ‼ This almost 70 years old guy having done a similar albeit much smaller job here in Switzerland enjoys your weekly dose very very much! The three of you are such a wonderful family and a role model ❣
I admire Philippe for working in such condition. Raining here in Normandy too. It has been an awful year for rain. Little Odin will soon be speaking three languages. He is so very cute ! it is always awesome to watch your incredible endurance and perseverance with the Mammoth tasks !
One of my favorite videos used to be someone who had set up an automated vacuum and their toddler used to ride it around the living room. It just goes to prove that no matter what toys you buy for your children, they will be far more fascinated by cardboard boxes, vacuum cleaners, lawn mowers, and strimmers. It makes birthdays and Christmas challenging for buying presents!
Episodes are a very good balance of activities. Odin has so many healthy experiences, earthworks impressive as are continuing improvements and conveniences. Thank you.
Great video again. I noticed that Odin is becoming a big star in your weekly stories here. Fun to watch. Big progress as well. Couple of days more dry and it will be finished. Perseverance by Philipe I must say.
Lol, it looks like the mower moving took Odin completely by surprise. I'm sure he'll be trying to take his toys apart soon, he certainly knows what to use the screwdriver for.😉
Great content! Would be interesting to see an overview plan/map/sketch of what you are aiming for around the barn og also the new pond. Great to follow your progress - keep it up!
know there is a great temptation to keep going with the earth moving, especially as you are now so close the the barn wall, but looking at the ground conditions I think now is the time to start working inside. that bund top is looking so slippery now, and by driving over the grass the tracks are just getting deeper and holding water, the amount of earth you have moved so far is epic. It is nice to see the butterflies still in the garden, I counted 6 species flying in our meadow yesterday, but it is getting colder now, time to get more logs tucked away I think. Enjoy your work! Chris B.
I think it's great for your size of property to get the second mower. The one that picks up the clippings will definitely be handy for the areas that you guys use the most , lcosest to the house, less mess coming in on your shoes when it's wet 👍
It's insane seeing the amount of water running through the ground. The dam is hopefully going to be a great way of getting it in one area and being able to use it. I jumped when the cable sparked lol, I can only imagine how you felt. I don't know much about DC voltage but I learned something new about the batteries from your findings. Holding thumbs for you to get some dry days. 👍❤️
These self directional mowers are Brilliant! FB friends in Scotland have one they just programme it and off it goes. Ideal when one has large sections of land! One creates great compost for you too for your growing land! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😃
A bit more progress on moving the soil this week. The rain will really slow u down or maybe just stop until the ground freezes. As we talked about last week. Getting the we excavator up on top of the mound of clay behind the building you will be using the digger the way it’s designed to be used. Faster buck loading and u also have a good view of filling the dumper. It will make the operation a lot faster for u. Even taking that heavey thumb of the bucket will help too. Your we guy is the same age as my boy. Great to be able to spend time with them and get them involved in doing we jobs they learn so much so fast.
Hey Marcus, it is not safe anymore to try and get the digger up there. I should have done this from the start but my inexperience is costing me now.. But almost done and i have more work to do and i will think twice how i excavate!
@@DomaineSauvage my good friend is a digger driver and he will even put the digger on a load of stones to fill the dumper. I learnt so much from him. Even that drain u dug in front of the pile. He would use the grading bucket for that. He would dig out from the side and slope the sides. Stops the sides from falling in and it smooths the sides and bottom of the drain. But TH-cam is a great learning tool how did we ever do with out it.
Taking time to put thoughts into all you undertake to do will pay dividends in the long run. Next year we ourselves have a plan to follow, two Greenhouse’s, more raised beds (I am now in my 70’s so no bending!) solar panels on the sheds, a small pond for the wildlife, reorganising and a few tip runs to tidy up, making space for more growing. 😀👍👍👍
Thought maybe you could buy a a riding car for Odin or a little wagon? Maybe some tools for him? He really seems to like cats and helping his Papa! Greetings from Vancouver Canada
Yuka 2000 new model with digger attachment, then you only have to work the dumper. Where was the water filling the track coming from had you let it away from somewhere - making the area where your dumping look dangerous. Love your little helper,,,,,😄
So having to work in the rain, rather than delay until next year. Lovely lil spring in the tyre track - so hopefully water is not far down in the ground, all year. In the UK we had a slow moving storm last week with a lot of rain, but we've had some nice sunny days since, so it's quickly drying out. We had one week of summer at end of July to beginning of August, and sparodic single days of +25C / +77F
Well the last minutes gave me a scare,Slippery as f**k!! You are a very brave man Philippe(or stupid lol ) but you get the job done ,Proud of you and your family XoXo
Beautiful channel,I only see today,I wish some would see this channel too n subscribe, they are so industrious n dedicated, beautiful people n baby is cute❤
Your futur lake has a name : the Titan lake,??? because you have a mountain.!!!🤨🤔😉😊😊😊😊😊 BRAVO Odin you are a good helper of your father.!!! Bon courage and stay safe
We should have. We have a stream on the property but we can not use it for the pond. So it will have to come from rainwater and maybe a spring that pops up here and there in the garden when it gets really wet.
Was the footage at the end spring water flowing out of a mole hole? I hope you can get to the source if the spring and manage it at that point. As always, nice work outside and excellent editing. Odin is catching on very quickly! Thanks!
Excessive mowing is the enemy though... It makes the soil poor because you export all the grass clippings and don't let the vegetation grow. Brambles and tall grasses can be messy, but they keep the soil rich and aerated. A lawn makes the soil poor and compacted. It's especially bad for the trees, fruit trees get sick after a few years in a lawn. You wouldn't believe how many people on gardening groups ask "what's wrong, my trees are sick/attacked by pest" and the reason is just coz they're mowing the lawn right up to the trees. If people absolutely can't live without a lawn (which is too bad), then they should at least put 20 cm of wood chips around the trees, in a 1-2 meter radius. Otherwise they will suffer. I know a nice manucured lawn can look good, but in the south of France, with scorching dry summers, it is absolutely terrible. Compact dry soil in summer, that gets eroded when the heavy rains come.
I'm not really convinced of Your theory: Drainage, for sure, is important... but this 'wall' of clay, You created, is big, and, if You will not build a concrete dam in front, it will slight... and in worst case, the whole territory above will come to slight... I feel it's dangerous...🤔
@@DomaineSauvage hope You will do the right thing🙏... but in each way, don't wait too long! tons of pressure last on this wall of clay, especially when it rains...and it can easily move on the spring water... please be very careful! A regulary control of the territory above should be the minimum! 🧐❤️
Actually when they were here they couldn’t hear it that much since I am behind the hill. And you live in a rural place. So chainsaws, farmers, dogs, etc.

Thx Lise, and yes it reminds us of last year again.. I was talking with Claude and he says never has it been like this for two years now.
The fact that there is a spring on the property is actually amazing! A problem now, you can do so much with it in the future.
It is known here as the land of water and trees 👍 but not this amount of water 😅

Odin is going to be such a healthy man. Lucky kid.

Thank you Susan!
You are doing a great job moving all that earth that little dump truck was a good buy. Your little Odin is just delightful
I think it’s time Odin gets his own channel. He’s so adorable! ❤❤

Thank you 😊
Wonderful to watch others working hard. A British pastime..... Love this channel and I have to say that Philippe's English is excellent.
Iam very much amused with the chickens always following the tractor😂
Haha so are we!
Chicken are not very smart animals, as a rule. But they are able to identify a food resource...😊
Odin is coming on in leaps and bounds! Such a clever boy that learns quickly. He will be one that wishes to learn everything. Love him..💖

Perfect video Phillipe, many thanks for sharing your time with us all ❤❤

So you have enough water for the pond? Great! ❤
We should have. We have a stream on the property but we can not use it for the pond. So it will have to come from rainwater and maybe a spring that pops up here and there in the garden when it gets really wet.

The amount of rain! Unbelievable.
You still should have summer, kind of.
Why did you close up the drainage?
Why not guiding it away from the side?
Because my wood pile is in the way. I need to cut it and store it in a different place soon 😅Normally we should have good weather until November.

Thx Roos!
