    Excellent video. Props to showing us how the airbox assembly is attached with the 3 pins underneath. That really helps with understanding how to wrestle it out, knowing we're not breaking anything when yanking it.

    This engine is also fitted to my variant of the Mk1 Ford Kuga ( also Focus ST /RS) in the UK, i had to swap out my starter motor but on Ford there is even less room to wiggle the air-box up and and out and i think it may have another rubber boss retainer on the right also, additionally, when you pulled out the box and turned it over underneath on the left is like a u shape moulding into which the wiring harness locates to avoid it getting trapped, but you cant see this from above and it looks like its impossible to relocate back when reassembling, however i must of had luck on my side as i did manage to get the wiring back in the clip but i think it was luck it went in first time what with all the wiggling to get the air-box back in position.

    Unplugging that yellow connecter is tough, and now the yellow switch is broken, but I still can move it up; for you, it just pops out. Maybe it is glued; I will try again tomorrow.

    • @motorcarnut

      Yellow part is a lock that slips up so you can get the plug off by squeezing the tap while pulling.

    • @Fern635
      @Fern635 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would apply to a lot of years of a lot of models. The engine is slightly different, but the technique to remove the air box is also perfect for my 2008 C30. I think for most cars with a 2.4i or a 2.5T.

    Thanks for this video. I have to remove the air box to try to loosen the oil filter cap on mine. The quick lube place either super over-torqued it or cross threaded it and it seems to have seized up. The placement is recessed beneath that pleated housing, so it is virtually impossible to get on top of it with a socket and ratchet. I have been trying for days and have stripped the plastic nut on top of the cap. I am going to try to remove the box and loosen the filter with a chain wrench next. This is ridiculous.

    • @motorcarnut
      @motorcarnut  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sucks. Those quick lube places don't know anything and rush to finish. You should make them take it off and paid for the stripped cap. No reason for it to be that tight. They are torque specs for everything for a reason. Good luck bro!

    • @isaacandmary
      @isaacandmary 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      FINALLY got the oil filter cap off. My S60 is a 2014 so there were a couple more hard to reach wires that were attached underneath the air box that had to be pried a-loose before it would come out. After getting on the nut with my ratchet and low profile 32mm socket, the cap still wouldn't budge. I had to carefully apply heat to the area (because it's plastic) with a propane torch. Then I had to bang on it with a rubber mallet and that did the job. Thanks again for the great video and instructions. Please guys, only HAND TIGHTEN oil filter caps.

    Question..do you have video or information on how to get 2006 s40 2.4i air box out so can access thermostat and hoses..REALLY APPRECIATE IT. . .I DID OIL FILTER HOUSING FEW YEARS AGO MYSELF but I Don’t remember if removed completely lol. Thanks again

    • @motorcarnut
      @motorcarnut  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s a pain to get out, hardly any room to work with. There is I believe 2 rubber grommets on the bottom towards the engine that have to be pried out towards the radiator.
