Don't Take This Bus In Sarawak 🇲🇾 Journey From Kuching To Sibu

- After having spent quite some time in Kuching it was time to leave the place and travel on as we are a traveling family. Everyone said it will be very difficult to move around in the Sarawak part of Borneo and I can say they are right. We were planning on taking a boat up the Sarawak river as there is a lot of infrastructure for this. That is... they had this before the Corona pandemic. But now they have cancelled all of those river busses sadly. There are only tourist boats that you can use to go for certain rides at that is simply not what we are doing. We just need to move, we try to find out how people travel in their world, not going to look at tourist rides or watch actors dressing up in traditional clothes. But there are busses, not as many as there used to be and had we been better organized we would have done a different trip, so I can only blame myself. The original thought was to travel to Sri Aman and from there then to Sibu after a couple a days. Be it as it will the next bus there is was booked out so there was no Sri Aman for us. We did enquire about busses to Sibu and they said it is 5 hours with that new highway, so we though okay, 5 hours is the maximum for the kids so let's do it. Was it only 5 hours? Or was it a lot longer...? Let's find out.... please leave me a comment in the section and give the video a like. If you can please sent it to someone or share it on your social media.

Slow and steady. No rush. Safety comes first.
Hello, I hope you are always healthy and that everything with your family is made easier
thanks a bunch
Bye bye Kuching. Hello Sibu..here comes the Swiss family to visit you. Yeah, a very nice and clean bus.... lust greenery along the journey. Sarawak is a huge state. Too bad that the journey takes more than 5 hours. Curious to know whether the bus stops for any bathroom break since the journey is a long one. Anyway, great that all of you have finally reached Sibu safe and sound. Happy exploring Sibu. Cheers, Mr Moonshine and family.
Yes, the bus stopped once and there was also food. But 2 hours longer than promised is not so great...
what a wonderful family u has :) Enjoy your stay in Sarawak and stay safe as always.
Thank you! 😃
Hi,am sha from Kuching,l so much enjoy your vedios
Welcome to Sarawak., and enjoy your holiday
Thank you! 😃
First like 💪
👍👍👍
This is my go to bus to commute from Bintulu to Sibu even from Bintulu to Serian. Just having a little adventure on my own apart using the flights. Love their individual seat. And the journey is more than 5hours
Enjoy Sibu Swiss family! ❤️ Great experiences take care
Thanks so much, yes definitely not 5 hours...
👍🙂....thank God the Sarawak Pan Borneo Highway is nearing full completion. You are one lucky tourist to experience the highway first. 👍🙂
They did tell me that but it seems it was not too quick still... maybe not all the way finished...
Have a wonderful journey along Pan Borneo Highway. Its long hour trip😊😊
Yes true
Looking at your video... It seem you did not go & miss out the visit to Sarawak Culture Village (not far from Kuching) & also the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre (where might have the opportunity to see the Orang Utan). By the way... Hope you can visit some good places along the way from Sibu until Miri.
If you wish to go to Sabah by Land, then you need to go into Brunei before you can reach Lawas/Limbang (still part of Sarawak, Malaysia).. Border to Sabah.
Tq for visiting Sarawak. Enjoy & Safe journey to you & family.
thanks mate
Enjoy your stay in Sibu. It’s a quiet, peaceful and relaxing town in my personal opinion. I traveled between kch to sibu quite often nowadays, prefer to drive my own vehicle as the journey is about 4 hours per every trip each round . Road condition is much better now as compared to many months back. I actually just came back to kuching from sibu few days back, having a pitstop over at sri aman for the “benak” @tidal bore even, which is a first for me 😅
Next video will be from Sibu again, I liked it a lot.
While in sibu, its a must to visit the biggest wet mkt in malaysia. Yes,its in sibu. Theres plenty of food kioks on the 1st floor.
sure thing will do
I think you should bring your family to Sri Aman because there'll be an event call Tidal bore festival(Pesta benak Sri Aman) from 29/9 to 1/10
Tidal bore festival in Sri Aman this weekend. But if you're looking for a place to stay during the festival week, it's a bit difficult because all the hotels are fully booked.
Oh I am sure
Welcome to Sibu. Do enjoy local foods like Mee Kampua, Kompia, Umai, Kasam ensani and Iban foods....
sure will do
I think that river is Sungai Rajang/Rajang River. There are lban and Orang Ulu longhouses plus many Chinese cultural attractions as Sibu is a town with Chinese majority. Well, hope you and family will visit a longhouse there.
Not sure these seem all either commercial, private or far away
Bye bye... Super
Thanks mate
Enjoy your long way journey 😊
Thank you! 😃
Welcome to Sibu ❤
Thanks mate
❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏 Oliver your son Vincent they are all happy
I am glad
What a beautiful dealer nice smile little big teeth❤️❤️❤️🙏
We have melanau Muslims melanau Christians.. You should go pitstop to mukah.. Where the melanau are from.. It's a small village, they have fresh fish, as its a fishing village. You can try the melanau's food.. Sago it's some sort little pepples made from the sago flour, umai.. Some sort like sushi. The sago worms eatable.. Try and can ask the people there. Everyone are kind and friendly, him le and helpful in Sarawak.. For the night can stay at kingwood hotel in town. After mukah it's good to also go to bintulu. After bintulu to miri.
thanks for the tip
I have not travel with MTC. no longer a vip coach since 15 years ago. You can try BA buses ( Bus Asia) same name company.
Yes saw that, but timing was bad.
I just realized you are a Swiss, whereby time precision is a way of life. Malaysians are bad with timing in whatever we do, we are never punctual. Comparing Swiss and Malaysian is like sky and earth. Even in Germany the trains delay quite often unlike in Switzerland.
So when a Malaysian tells you about timing, please expect delays and provide some buffer time. It is a culture that is ingrained in the community, can't change!
In future, use your phone to check Google Map and see how many hours by road. That can keep your expectation low.
Yes I am quite aware of that. I have spent so much time abroad and in most countries people are not punctual and that makes it hard as it's something I can't get rid off, it is the only real Swiss thing I have left.
So end up, Google is only your best friend. Whatever the transportation company's staff tells, you just take it with a pinch of salt. Borneo is an untouched world and full of natural beauty. Bruno Manser used to live with the Penans. His disappearance is mystery. Hope you have a pleasant trip ahead.
Welcome to Sibu, Malaysia...😊😊🚙🚙🛻
Thanks mate
And I was surprised the bus operator said 5 hours journey from Kuching to Sibu. Driving my own car with speed above 120km also took 6hours including toilet breaks.
Oh wow, that is quite some time.
Some bus driver are actually drive faster than 120mph most of the time during less trafics
@elwwmatrix but if used old road that take 5 hour but if used new road only take 3 or 4 hour that why i dont like travel a lot😅😅 i hate sit in car for long time and it bored for me
Btw me from kuching,sarawak
welcome to my hometown kuching serawak❤
Thanks a bunch
உங்கள் பயணம் சுகமாக அமைய வாழ்த்துக்கள்
Wow so sweet! From India?
It's amazing that Covid is still affecting so much in Malaysia. We used to cross from Miri to Brunei via Bus. Since Covid happened they stopped them and never restarted them again. It's totally ridiculous, visitors have to walk across and its a good half mile between immigrations. And of course there are no buses at the immigration in Brunei. It's almost like they don't want visitors. Also I read today that if the world was as densely populated as New York, all 8 billion would fit into Texas. Makes you think.
Yeah, that really is crazy. But then again, everything involving this pandemic is kind of crazy. They also stopped all the boats. You used to be able to have great journeys on these rivers. All gone now. And does not look like it is coming back.
Covid was brought by immigrants and foreign tourists to Malaysia and they were not honest about their health at the time.
All the best🙌🙌🙌🇮🇳
thanks mate
Come 2 bintulu.. International kite festive.. 27.9 until 1 Oct 2023
On the way
Welcome to sibu,😊
thanks mate
Come to bintulu sarawak.. now there is a kite fiesta..
Will do
Just like the bus I took from Balranald to’ Griffith in Australia
The Gods of three mountain king in the temple was in a shrine at my primary school teacher's house...i guess powerful Gods, and now housed in a good ood sized temple. Enjoy your visit in sibu, smaller and the chinese mostly originated from country side of Foochow in China...notice there are many Methodist church in sibu.
alright, noted
Have safe journey Inshallah
Thanks mate
On the positive side, everyone seems to be in good spirit at the hotel even after that 7 hours' journey that shouldn't be...
Yes, we have been disappointed before and there was a hotel right there., was well after all...
Olive is cute with a shorter hair style!!!
I like it too
enjoy explore the east part of Malaysia. Cost of living in the east Malaysia is much cheaper compare to the West Malaysia. enjoy!
Thanks so much
👍👍👍👍
Next video clip we can explore dinner
You should try food such as Kampua Mee, Mee Sua, Kompia here. Sibu have 2 night market which is Sibu Night Market and Sibu Jaya Night Market.
Will try
Welcome to sibu
Thanks a bunch
There is lots of energy in the kids even after 7 hours 😀
Haha, they were pretty much full of it yes. Just too long. 2 hourse more than promised is a long time.
@@yvesthesleeve 2 hrs is too much even for an adult.
Time is relative outside Europe...
I see the children will become more demanding as they get older. Vincent certainly appreciated the bigger room. If you keep travelling they will want their own rooms. Believe me I know modern kids. My grandchildren are amazed when I tell them how we travelled as kids. Not for them😂😂🤣 Enjoy your stay in Sibu and some nice Curries! Making me hungry!!
Haha, thanks, but they do not want their own rooms, they want to stay together with us, we are always together, they are not modern at all actually.
@@yvesthesleeve Ah wait until they are young teenagers! The most saintly kids change. Think back to your youth! Most kids do not want to know their parents. They come back in their 20's usually looking for something!!
And you realised there are almost no rest a relax along the highway in Sarawak. Next journey standby with foods
yes true
Hi Ian I got a quick question why you’re are not renting a car and diving in certain areas? . People can drive with international driving licence.
Well, first we do not have an international driving licence (my wife only has a Swiss one, I do not have one) and second this is much more expensive and we are struggling as it is.
Your kids were cheerful enjoying the long hours of bus ride until reaching into the hotel suite. How much is your hotel suite per day?
it is 100 Rm
@@yvesthesleeve Are gym and swimming pool included?
04:37 cik omar from bintulu
Hello Sir, are you guys now still in Sibu? That's my birthplace. Welcome guys
Yes still here
@yvesthesleeve Good. Have you try kampua noodles and dumpling (bian nit)? When I drove back to Sibu, these 2 are my must have one
During a leisure family trip in a bus, can still set your mind on PHD issue like overpopulation, a great citizen of this world you are indeed . Ha, the empty land space on this earth might be more than sufficient to squeeze in all the human being, but there are many other factors that could affect the quality of living, like water, fresh air, food, commodities, transports, employment, education, health, human waste, pollution and other resources might be scarce and not enough to provide for a larger population. Also don’t forget, there are millions of other living organisms sharing this blue planet with us, be it animals, plants, bacteria or countless others.
Well, I am not sure that the plant is so much in danger as certain people are trying to tell us...
Hi...i have send something to you..all the best😊
Thank you very much, greatly appreciated.
Stay safe mate
Thanks mate
Most Malaysians are helpful and they are willing to help if you ask/request...no worries bud
Oh absolutely
That mosque is within an army camp that u passed-by.
okay thanks
Huge shopping complex I think 5 others bus ride to much tired for children
too much if you think it is less time
Why you stand in kuching so short time. They have many place to go in kuching.
We stayed in kuching two months.
Kucing Sarawak to Sibu by 🚍 bus is quite far about 5hours+ is nice hotel at Sibu☆ bye bye
7 hours actually too long
What the name of Hotel u stayed? I think its nearest bus stop? U can take taxi@Grab car from bus stop to Sibu City, its cost Rm15. Bus stop to Sibu city just 10-15 minutes.
Hotel Medan, 15 ringgit is quiet expensive.
If Grab car, maybe 8 ringgit. U can stay at sibu city, so many big hotels are there, like RH Hotel, Tanah Mas Hotel, Premier Hotel, King Wood Hotel. 4-5 stars hotel RH Hotel. 3-4 star like Tanahmas, kingwood and premier. Dragon hotel also. U can go night market, and now sibu festival at Phase 3 nearest Wisma Sanyan mall.
I never understood this psycadelic interior and for a long journey 😵💫
Hai Bintulu
Kuching Sibu ok
One long journey but a scenes journey. It happens
Dylan looks so much like dad
they used to say that about Vincent too but things change
Sarawak is under populated...land size is about whole West Malaysia...pop is about 2.8 millions.
I thought that too
Why u guys did not go to kapit?
We thought about it but we kind of have not so much time left as the visa will run out. Next time. We are going towards Brunei.
You take bus Eva Express bro is good
The next bus was full and we did not want to wait.
Better take maswing flight city to city in sarawak🤭
well, I try to avoid flying as often as possible.
An ordinary express bus travel might not be equivalent to West Malaysia. Maybe an executive coach are an equivalent.
Yes maybe, it is another game here.
@@yvesthesleeve it's more to an adventure here in East Malaysia cos it's less populated.
I think Bus Asia is better.. you should choose that next time..
yes probably.
As a sarawakian, never prefer other buses and always stick to Bus Asia
I am sure it's the best
Wow u in sibu?? Eat mee kampua i was born in sibu, my family originated there
will try
you dont mess with moonshine on a travel day, or you'll get bad review😂
😀😀😀😀 well, best just say how long the trip will take...
Hi
Hi
Haha... if you guys are back in Kuching, let me know 😅
alright
Bintulu sb mama CAFE
Video coming sb mama cafe
Which country are you from?
Switzerland
Yo going to sibu?
We were there, this is the journey to Sibu...
@@yvesthesleeve i live here
Use Google maps to know your journey duration...
I do but that is not always true
I have a feeling that the bus tickets to Sri Aman/Simanggang are sold out due to the Tidal Bore festival…
6:20 He is the same ethnicity as our current Governor.
16:20 Looks like near Sri Aman town. 😄
21:26 No, not Sibu river. Should be Rajang river, the longest river in Malaysia.
22:41 😂 Kuching-Sibu is NOT five hours lah. It’s roughly 7 hours minimum.
Rajang River it is, yes 7 hours.
tell me if this is true - sarawak is the only state in malaysia that doesn't have a railway sytem. what's up with that
Railway was build by british + japanese long time ago. Malaysian just maintain it.
I am not sure but I think Sabah also does not have one.
@@yvesthesleeve i've been to sabah and there's definitely trains there. in fact it's the old type of train, older than the ones in west malaysia. some railways run alongside rivers and really look awesome and nostalgic.
7 hours is a long trip
especially if you think it is two hours less...
@@yvesthesleeve but Vincent and olive and baby did well. Bravo
Bye,bye....
🤫🧏🏻
Not the best coach in sarawak actually, the best is the one travelling inter states from kalimantantan - sarawak - kk in sabah.
I am sure, this one was not very good and two hours late.
MTC is mine melayu tipu cina bro bro
alright, thanks
heyyy... this aint no India 😅...taking a bus ride can be complicated
Yes it's true
Moral of the story is that not recommended for swiss people to take bus in Sarawak….. time issue 😂😂😂😂 honestly I’m surprised you didn’t take the kids to see orangutan, cultural village…or maybe it’s a bit pricey
Videos of these places are hardly watched. We do take longer and much harder trips in other countries but if they say it's 5 but 7 hours it's bad.
I wear a mask everywhere and may have to for the rest of my life. They’re testing me for an immunodeficiency disease (no, not AIDS or HIV) for which they do not know the cause. If all of the tests are consistent with the disease, I will need plasma infusions for the rest of my life. I love how the mask makes people stay away because they think I’m infected.😂
Oh wow, sorry to hear, I hope things turn out well for you. I noticed that many people wear a mask, many not even for Covid.
Bus Asia much better in sarawak 🤔
I will take Bus Asia for the next trip, everybody says it is the best.
Datanglah ke Indonesia ada banyak keindahan alam yang enggak terhingga dan kuliner Indonesia yang menggoda di lidah.. kami menantikan kedatangan anda 😊

How much it cost per/person now adays it's been a long. Haha you going to travel pass my mother house and her village in Sri-Aman /Sungai Tengan 😊 I bet everything already change there it's been a long for me not been back to village for a long time 4-5 years... Sigh.. 😔 Anyway happy travelling Moonshine and stay safe.
Me and brothers and parent when we visit Miri we always used our own car. I remembered we always get trouble like car broken or tyre puncture 😂. Really not safe travel. Long journey between Kuching to Sri-Aman then to sibu then Miri. I love the adventure but really tbh not safe. Definitely need good adventure car to travel long road.
I think what you mean over populated in Kuching centre I think too many people in Kuching. I prefer old Kuching hehe
It was 25 a person. 100 ringgit for all.
Not bad hotel how much it cost per/night? The place ooks new Moonshine
