- Not more than a year had passed since the launch of the Xbox and Microsoft tapped a handful of former WipEout devs to complete work on a game very reminiscent of their previous work to fill out their newly launched library of Xbox games.
Let's take a brief look at Quantum Redshift, the future-adjacent, high speed, combat racing game that you can find Only on Xbox!

I was out of commission recovering from a broken femur in 2003, I completed everything and unlocked redshift! You could hold turbo down for the entire lap, it was soooo fast! You could also turn on different Easter egg modes, like racing underwater, mirror image the tracks and more! Wish I could go back and play this again! One X needs an updated version!
Damn, this game still looks pretty astounding, just wish it was more elevated off the ground, like Wipeout or F-Zero. Good review. Makes me want to try this game and see how well it handles.

I have been looking for a copy of this for years, and I finally found one yesterday!
I've spoken with one of the developers about two years back, and he told me that Quantum Redshift's identity was damaged due to Microsoft's constant meddling with the games development. Causing the studio to close their doors from embarrassment and cancelled the sequel

I owned this game back in the OG days. I remember loving the look and concept but never quite got into the gameplay as much. It was super hard though and I’ve never been great at harder games! Thanks for this review; brings back some good memories! Maybe I’ll look at adding it back into the collection some day.
One of the most difficult racing Games I have EVER tried to play I never got to beat the game.... lmao still love the game though
This is one I picked up at a pawn shop years ago, but never played. Not a big racing game fan, but I like the futuristic aspect. I might have to give this a go.
It's definitely worth a shot - little secret for you - if you name your profile "CHEAT" (all caps), you get access to a cheat code menu. Use "Nematode" to unlock all the racers right away, if you don't feel like grinding it out.

I wonder if the post race cut scenes are hiding a loading zone. Is the loading after the cut scene long? Maybe the cut scene trims it a bit.
There's still some loading, but that's a really good point - it's the whole Disneyland method- keep people occupied with something to look at/do and they are less likely to care about or focus on how long its taking to get there. It's crazy that we're starting to hit the point where those load times aren't going to need that buffer to mask it nearly as much as it would have in the early 2000s.
Now this is one I've already got in my collection. I got this one on the cheap in 2014: 3 Xbox games for $9. (Got Grabbed by the Ghoulies and Call of Duty: Big Red One with it.) I had no idea this was done by former WipEout devs, so that's worth something. Maybe I should dig it out...
That's a great deal - shockingly even those early CODs aren't "dollar bin" fodder. You should give this one a try! - thankfully you still have an Xbox in your new setup - this one hasn't been picked for Xbox One/Series X BC yet.

This seems to have an Episode I Racer look to it. The tracks, effects and so forth.
I love that this game was made by the same developers of n-gen racing an airplane combat racing game exclusive to the first playstation.

@@XboxerBriefs absolutely man, i definitely wouldn't be upset if you put out 5 vids a day lol. Yeah dude, you should for sure give Advent rising some of your spare time, it's not a flawless game by any means but it ended up being one of my favorite games for the system. Just like Psi-Ops its a real bummer that it didn't get a sequel. Even though they end on cliffhangers there isn't a much better way to spend some time than either of those games. If you have any suggestions on any games with a similar vibe as those I'd love to hear them. And I'll say it again man, you putting out to notch content, always waiting for your notifications.

There certainly is a diverse cast - For the sake of time, I didn't mention everyone who spoke something other than English.
However, I didn't happen to hear Spanish, French, Italian, or Swedish - which drivers were those?

I feel like a lot of those early Microsoft Games Studios titles had some cringe character design. Sort of generic yet somehow mildly offensive lol. This really is a solid racer though and that rain effect blew me away back then.
100% - they knew who their target audience was, but this is still nowhere close to where some of their other first party titles went (see also: Kung Fu Chaos and Sudeki). Awesome that you've had a chance to play this one!
