I have to say it again, Konrad and the Night Lords stayed true to their nature from the very first day. The Emperor knew exactly who and what the Night Lords and Konrad were! Each Primarch and each legion was a characteristic sliver of the Emperor's personality. Konrad and the Night lords were most likely the persona of the Emperor's desire and need to control the masses through fear and terror. To break an enemy's will and desire to stand and fight against the Imperium he was building. I don't think that the Emperor ordered the death of Konrad. I think the Emperor was calling one of his true sons home, but with all mentally unstable individuals, the invite was perceived in a totally different way. We all know Konrad was not the most stable minded person, things went left.
Yeah if only we didn't know now that Emps is all No pucks given about the primarchs beyond... "Oh my screwdriver, sweet!" And didn't feel they were sons at all, never did if I remember right. Those emotions were all projected by PLAYERS, primarchs, and marines. Not Emps. Who also, btw. It only ever stated he used his own DNA to make them. Not that he invested each one with a specific motif. Cawl settled that in the short story about his past. The majority of primarch traits were attributed to their trip through the warp and space/time, and the worlds they landed on. A case of Nurture and nature, rather than any one. But cool non-theory I suppose?

it's interesting how one changes it's tastes with time when I first got into the lore/story of HH my favorite traitors were the TS, SoH and AL but after reading and stuff I've come to appreciate several legions the NL, the WB and the IW have grown on me a lot

think I'm gonna make some night lords bikers for my CSM army. Been wondering what flavour to do the bikes, and I think NL's have good rules for bikes and can take any mark. Also they will look badass converted.
The Imperial Heralds aren't the only legion to be named before their primarch's discovery. There are at least three more cases: the Dusk Raiders (Death Guard), the Storm Walkers (Iron Hands) and the Luna Wolves.

Master Spookums Angron valued strength, I'm sure he loved all of his sons as he alone has the power to still form them into a complete legion, however he respected Khärn's strength because he was the only one brave enough to approach Angron when the Emperor took him from his homeworld.
