Awesome! I'm on the same path, well I aim for 315 :D I thought fall and winter would be boring dark times again, but so far I feel like the weeks have been good and gone by very fast. Lifting weights is a positive force in life.

Hey Pete, I have been watching your videos for ages. I am wondering if you could give me any advice in the gym. I am 20 years old, I weigh around 200lbs I am 5’11. I have never been to a gym in my life, but watching your videos really motivated me into taking the plunge. I am not that strong I can barely get around 65-70lbs on the bench on my best days. I have been going to the gym for about a month now I can notice a change in energy but not much else. my first week in the gym I hit 90 pounds on the bench 1 time but I can’t even get close now. I have set a personal goal of being able to bench about 200 in a year and I don’t plan on falling short. Thank you for your videos and All the time you spend making them, enjoy your week stay furious. You are an inspiration man thank you again.

anyone who has a decent bench knows that adding 40 lbs to a 1RM in a month isn't possible naturally , you're lucky to add 40 in a year. Not saying Pete's running something but his strength gain is monstrous.
He probably had previous gains that he just hadnt realized.
My bench 1rm went up 35 in a month, with the only supplement I took being protein powder. Pete obviously trains a lot more than I did so I see that being possible naturally.
I love frank yang you do know that he has been strong as shit before he Got sick right? If you havent had an injury after you had been lifting for years then you would ofcourse wouldnt know that it is a lot easier to go up in weight that you Body was used to lift some time ago, Thats why he is progressing so fast
He used to bench in the 400s, this is just the muscle gaining already covered ground. Muscle memory.

Pete thank you for all your vids I have set a personal goal of 230 on bench however I never know where I'll end up after I pulled a back muscle a little while ago deadlifting, and bench is a bit uncomfortable however, I have got some new stretches to fix or at least help this my current bench is 210 I'm also planning a 365 squat goal my current Max is 340 and deadlift is 385
I really wanna try Goku Gains. But not sure if 20 servings a tub is worth it. Anybody have this and can tell me if it’s really worth it?

Merzali i can’t really know if it’s “the same” without actually trying it. All pre workouts affect people in different ways.
In all honesty it's a great product but honestly too much for me. I'm sensitive to caffeine so if I have coffee or an energy drink I can't take it. I have to have 0 caffeine or else it gives me a huge headache and makes me nauseous. Lots of energy and focus but I don't use it enough for how much I payed. Quality is expensive so you do get what you pay for. It's different for everyone though. But safe to say the best pre I've ever had.

question. Since your max is 405, do you bench press weekly? or how often, also since you said to now always go to your max how high do you go?? please just so i can get an idea for me. thanks
His frequency will not be relevant to you unless you have similar recovery levels and strength. If you wanna make continual gains you need to cycle volume and intensity
It depends on your current level, if your max is sub 200 then you would see progress with almost any program. Even something basic like a 5x5 at 3-4 days a week, starting at 60% of your 1rep max and going up by 10 pounds every other day.
A basic way to look at it is first make sure your form is correct so you have a base to build upon(meaning touch your chest and touch the bar to the lower chest), then establish a method of progression like reverse pyramid, 3X5, 5X5 etc and add reps or volume when you can if you are running a powerlifting peaking program the periodization will be built into it. If you are a fairly weak bencher(under 225lbs) a good tip though is to start incorporating pause reps. Other than that hit your weak points, if you have a weak lockout and small triceps you might need to do close grip or more volume of tricep work and so on with the other muscles. Prioritizing Overhead press helps most people as well. I think when I did my bench went up 20-25lbs over a month which is fairly good
Most powerlifters bench 2 to 4 times a week. It is important to keep the frequency high even if the workouts arent that hard. Maybe hit bench heavy once and light 2 times a week. Anyway, Pete has trained at least 10 years.

Mildly unrelated question, is it possible to gain strength and improve lifting while attempting to cut weight (fat, not muscle) or should I focus on just 1 goal
Im in between names. Suggest one if you want I've been doing exactly that for 8 weeks now. However, consider two things: I used to lift years ago (haven't lifted in 3 years) and I have a lot of excess body fat right now (23-26%ish). That said my max bench was 175 for one rep my first day back. Now Im doing 215x5 reps and dropped 15lbs.
Its totalt possible, started lifting 1,5 years Ago and ive gone from 116 kg -> 98 kg while building tons of muscles and strength. Started at 50kg bench and im now at 125kg bench.
If your new or fairly new it's possible if your committed and eat right
When I started going to the gym I started with a 5 x5 strength programme while on a cut and for each of my compound lifts increased. However to answer your question you can gain strength although it will not be as quick as if you were bulking

Hey furious I'm 16 I weigh about 225 right now I can bench 240 deadlift 345 but only squat 295 (acl knee repair so it's pretty behind) but I want to lean up a little bit and I'm not sure exactly what to do because I looooove fast food

Started the gym 2 months ago my max bench was 65kg (140lb) now I am at 105KG (231lb) 1 rep max, My leg press 5 x Reps are at 360kg (793lb) (18 years old) working my heart out for results.
My squats are bad I do 5 x 5 of 120kg (265lb)
