It's amazing how even five years ago before it became cool to collect, the Saturn was still expensive to collect for. Really says a lot for the fun and uniques titles available for the system. Seriously underrated under appreciated system. Thanks John. 👍
Just picked up a Saturn for the first time two weeks ago and have been loving it. Got about 20 games so far, but knocked off some of the heavy hitters like Panzer Dragoon Saga. This was an awesome video which definitely shed some light on some must-buy games - so thanks for putting it together. Thoroughly enjoyable as always John!
That's what I did for my collection. I bought my Panzer Dragoon Saga in November for $325. I'm glad I bought it then because it's now $500-$600 on eBay.
I gave up on getting a legit copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga, and just bought a reproduction. But, my only plan is to play it, not sell it or anything. So I don't really see it as that much of a deal, that I don't have the legit copy.
I was shocked when I looked up U.S. Saturn games prices. I'm so happy I'm getting three games with my Saturn when it gets here. I also have the cartridge to make it play the import games.
An awesome collection! I used to have a lot of those games years ago but sold them off like an idiot! I just got Dragon Force back recently and I'm now actively searching for Iron Storm... what an awesome game! Man have the prices gone up since you filmed this video! Great video and keep up the good work!
great video john! birthday boy and I our starting our Saturn collection strong. bought hercs adventures, Albert Odyssey and 14 other great titles for $50! guardian heroes is now on the way as well lol. keep up the great videos my good sir, Sam and I love watching them!
Nice work Mr. Hancock; always appreciate when the Saturn gets love. Like you, I was able to pick up many of these games years ago; so glad I did. I love my Saturn and collecting for it, but the price are crazily prohibitive now!
I literally just started a Saturn collection today. It's going to take a long time to acquire the games I want, but I'm excited to get into a system that I've had almost zero exposure to.
Radiant Silvergun was the definition of greatness on the Sega Saturn to me, that's the one must-have title for me. I bought a Saturn specifically to import that game, and I was not dissapointed.
Nice Collection And Very Good Commentary I Really Love The Sega Saturn So Much I Really Wish That I Have The Sega Saturn Right Now With All The Great Games You Have I Really Love Watching All Your Videos John Great And Awesome Collection Great Video As Always.
Nights is an amazing game, one of my favorites from Sonic team. SF Alpha 2 on the Saturn turned me into a fan of 2D fighters, that is a great fighter and managed to do what none of the versions of the legendary SF 2 could. This is maybe the best console for fighters, with the best controller for them and so many near perfect ports of them from the arcade (although I still prefer the games the Dreamcast had). It's hands down the best console for imports. Anybody who owns a Saturn should do themselves a favor and get an Action Replay, especially if they like 2D fighters. Just recently got a copy of Vampire Savior for mine for a good deal and that alone was enough to justify getting an AR for me
Great Overview! I really want a sega saturn. someday, right? i bet it is a pretty cool system to collect for. one day i will find a good deal on one. great vid 😀
I love the Saturn so much. My friend and I played the li gb the gun games for YEARS like crazy, both virtual cops, area 51, maximum force, but mostly Virtua Cop. I don't have room for a CRT where I currently live so it's been some time since I've played them. I was never able to find a US version of House of the dead. It was much easier to import the Japanese version. I wish Shining Force 3 could save directly to the RAM cart. I've never been able to complete it because the watch battery inside the system memory always goes out
I'm really loving my Sega Saturn consoles. Since I have two versions of them, I need the silver one though. And I'm living my X-Men vs Street Fighter for it too. Faster loading times too.
great video! i just wish I would have focused more on collecting Saturn when I first started collecting, because the current prices make it almost impossible.
I bought a Saturn on ebay in 06 with like 7 games including nights into dreams and some other good ones for about $50. I sold it like a year later because I don't play video games that much anymore. I wish I had just kept it, it would have been worth playing now and then.
Great video. Little request though, when doing the close ups of the games, please remember to keep the camera a little more still or slow down going up and down the case. Was starting to get a bit motion sick at the start of the video but it was better later on though. Looking forward to the next video.
What a great console! My favorite console of all time. Unfortunately I had to pay over $300 dollars for Saga. It was worth it tho, my favorite game of all time.
Awesome video, good sir! Most saturn games these days are really expensive but are totally worth it, especially the imports. Fun fact that Magic Knight Rayearth was never released in Europe and it was the final Saturn game released in America. Europe's final Saturn game was Deep Fear, if I'm not mistaken. I will admit that the cases for the Saturn games in America and Europe are trash but the Japanese version's jewel cases in my eyes are the way to go. Sega Saturn 4ever!
Wow that camera movement, I felt like I'd taken some bad acid. If this was done 5 years ago, you should have done a new one. Love ya work still, keep it up!!
The cheapest i see that Dragoon Saga go for is $250. Then past $900! I got a Saturn a couple months back. I bought the Action Replay immediately. Been wanting some good Japanese shmups but they are expensive! I bought Galactic attack. Do you know any affordable shmups for this system? Thanks.
John Hancock you are legendary. I love your videos and respect you knowledge of all things video games. I want to start a Sega Saturn collection and this video reminds me of how underrated that system was. Everyone I think forgot just how awesome Sega used to be, well besides Sega CD. My question for you sir is will you be traveling to Texas this year for Retroplalooza here in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area? I would be honored to meet you and discuss some stuff with you.
Talking about the store Video game wizard in Portland off SE Foster Rd? Back when I was there had a 7 Eleven next door I used to live right around the corner from that store and got all my 64 games from them.
Hi, John, great videos. You have an awesome game collection, great. Two questions; Do you have a lot of game guides? Do you store all your games in the basement? Thank you Andre
I have all of the U.S. Saturn games that you showed except for Panzer Dragoon Saga & Dragon Force. My personal favorites from my collection is either Shining The Holy Ark or Magic Knight Rayearth
I've started my Saturn Collection. I'm quickly realizing that it's tough to find the cases in good condition. I've been buying up multiple copies of sports games just for the case if it's good.
Please make more videos about PS1 collecting, like the average price on common titles editions and versions, also PS2 collecting is amazing please make more videos about that too
you definetly need to do an updated version of this, the camera is messing with my eyes too much and pricing and info is off, yes i read the description, i think you've gained a lot of experience with your camera since filming this, and the saturn deserves better, and from the way you talk about the games i think you would agree
As a Saturn collector I have a question that has been bugging me, I got a copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga a few years back and I never noticed it until recent, but the cover to the manual is the same thickness as the rest of the pages. I think that's odd since every other Saturn game I have ever seen the cover is much thicker than the rest of the pages. So my question to you is that normal??? Or did I get ripped off buying a copy with a reproduction manual? I've been trying to look up info on the internet with no results. So if you have a copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga in you collection let me know if the cover is thicker or not. Any information on the subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
I'm a big Sega fan I mainly collect Saturn I can tell you imports are just as expensive I have 110 JP Saturn games about 50 of them cost between 40-90$ 26 of them 100$ and out of some of those are in the range of 200-400$ blast wind, image fight xmultiply final fight revenge street fighter zero 3, crows the battle action game and a few more. If your starting to get into it I suggest getting RPGs us only, fighting and shooters arcade games all jpn most are exclusive.
shining Force 3 scenario 2 and 3 have been translated and patched. Buy a legit Japan copy, rip it, patch the region code to u.s., and patch it up. Do a swap trick (or buy a Action Replay 4 in 1 and flash with Pseudo Saturn) and play in full English, including the ability to port your save game from Scenario 1!!
I hope I can find strikers 1945 because that is my favourite type of game. All top down shooters are my favourite even the bad ones. Truxton is my absolute favourite top down shooter.
Some of the games cost so much that it's cheaper to modify your Saturn to play repros and make your own copy. That's about the only way anyone is going to get to play Albert Odyssey.
I don't understand why US Saturn and Sega CD game boxes were so ridiculously oversized. It's not like they were going to fit snuggly with any other game boxes.
A Saturn Console itself isn't too expensive if you pay more then 70 or 80 dollars then you've paid too much the next thing is an Action Replay 4 MB RAM Cart which is about $35 or $40. This thing is wonderful you can transfer saved games to it as well as it has a cheating device on it & inside it has a 4 MB & 1MB RAM for X Men vs Street Fighter & Street Fighter Zero 3 or any other game that requires the RAM cartridge. It also bypasses region locking as well so you can play Japanese Saturn games. But the games are even more expensive then when I bought my Saturn back in 2009 American games mostly but Japanese games are pretty cheap.
Saturn is one of the best systems for imports, for sure.
It's amazing how even five years ago before it became cool to collect, the Saturn was still expensive to collect for. Really says a lot for the fun and uniques titles available for the system. Seriously underrated under appreciated system. Thanks John. 👍

Naw back down to 300-400
I gave up on getting a legit copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga, and just bought a reproduction. But, my only plan is to play it, not sell it or anything. So I don't really see it as that much of a deal, that I don't have the legit copy.
Dang man. You give great information but please use a tripod. You shake both the camera and whatever you are holding in front of the camera.
I'd love to collect for the Saturn. I've yet to ever get my hands on one, and by price alone, I doubt this will ever happen. Great video as usual!
great video john! birthday boy and I our starting our Saturn collection strong. bought hercs adventures, Albert Odyssey and 14 other great titles for $50! guardian heroes is now on the way as well lol. keep up the great videos my good sir, Sam and I love watching them!
Nice work Mr. Hancock; always appreciate when the Saturn gets love. Like you, I was able to pick up many of these games years ago; so glad I did. I love my Saturn and collecting for it, but the price are crazily prohibitive now!
Another great video John! I love drooling over your collection.
Was hoping he had Die Hard Arcade! GREAT arcade beat em' up!
Think i have finnished that game a 1000times
It's never boring
Panzer Dragoon Saga and Shining the Holy Ark are probably among my favorite games of all time. Those two are special!
I literally just started a Saturn collection today. It's going to take a long time to acquire the games I want, but I'm excited to get into a system that I've had almost zero exposure to.
Radiant Silvergun was the definition of greatness on the Sega Saturn to me, that's the one must-have title for me. I bought a Saturn specifically to import that game, and I was not dissapointed.
you are a true inspiration to me man. thanks for all the great videos! hope to shake your hand one day.

You said saga was only $200? Really I’m seeing it go for like $700 now😂
it surprised me too but this was almost 3 years ago he posted this. amazing though how much that game went up in that time
Lol I am looking at it now more like 1100$
@@benozkleenex $1250
Lowest I see on EBay today is 1,400
Great Overview! I really want a sega saturn. someday, right? i bet it is a pretty cool system to collect for. one day i will find a good deal on one. great vid 😀

great vid! I love collecting import Saturn games, there's so many hidden gems.
SOMEBODY GET THIS MAN A SATURN BOMBERMAN!
I have one, I just did not have one 5 years ago
okay makes sense now bc you said an expensive $80. now its a extra expensive $250 (on a good day!)
get the japan version, it is like $20 or less, and there is no language barrier, its frigging bomberman.

You bet
LOving the good work man keep it up

Great list John, just missing Saturn Bomberman, Sonic Jam, Fighters Megamix, Policenauts, and Radiant Silvergun!
love me some saturn. good stuff John.
Awesome collection brother
I love the Saturn . I remember cutting people's yards for weeks to buy my first console. It was the Saturn with virtua fighter remix
Wow that camera movement, I felt like I'd taken some bad acid. If this was done 5 years ago, you should have done a new one. Love ya work still, keep it up!!
Wow. I have the Japanese version of most of those games so nice to see recommended by you!
Thanks.

I am limited to what shows I can go to and attend. I am open to any shows that want to fly me out lol
+John Hancock that's too bad. Keep doing the great work man. I will be watching everything you do and thank you.
Love the Saturn vids!
Desperately needs gameplay videos. It's like trip to brewery where they do not let to taste the beers.
awesome, but you made my head spin with the camera movements. lol
The information in your videos is as good if not better than Metal Jesus but I would go nuts if your video editing and setup matched his :(
Talking about the store Video game wizard in Portland off SE Foster Rd? Back when I was there had a 7 Eleven next door I used to live right around the corner from that store and got all my 64 games from them.
Night Warriors is my favorite game on the Sega Saturn!
Hi,
John, great videos. You have an awesome game collection, great.
Two questions; Do you have a lot of game guides?

Thank you
Andre
Great video Jon 👍🏿🤟🏿🇺🇸🎮
I have all of the U.S. Saturn games that you showed except for Panzer Dragoon Saga & Dragon Force. My personal favorites from my collection is either Shining The Holy Ark or Magic Knight Rayearth
Nice vids John.👌👌👌
I've started my Saturn Collection. I'm quickly realizing that it's tough to find the cases in good condition. I've been buying up multiple copies of sports games just for the case if it's good.
The one system I don't own yet... so many fantastic games for it though!
Small saturn collection but you have some greats games here, enjoy that.
John great video! Is that a variant label for virtual on?
Please make more videos about PS1 collecting, like the average price on common titles editions and versions, also PS2 collecting is amazing please make more videos about that too
Man, I wish Panzer Dragoon Saga was still $200 on the second hand market.
I 100% agree with you that Panzer Dragoon Saga is better than Final Fantasy 7.
The immortal collection!
Vampire Savior!!!!! F***in love Darkstalkers. Felicia and Morrigan are awesome
you definetly need to do an updated version of this, the camera is messing with my eyes too much and pricing and info is off, yes i read the description, i think you've gained a lot of experience with your camera since filming this, and the saturn deserves better, and from the way you talk about the games i think you would agree

Yeah my copy has the thin cover as well.
Hi John! Why is Virtua On in black and white? Is iz original artwork? Greetings from Croatia!
Good information, but please, get a tripod and show the whole cover.
RIP WORKING DESIGN!!!!
Your Saturn collection is awesome. Saturn has some good games but I feel like a lot of them are over priced
Good luck finding even a third of these games anywhere
three dirty dwarves was my favorite. you ever play it?
I just can't believe how expensive Resident Evil is for the the Saturn.
Wish I bought one, but I was also very happy with the psOne too :-)
john io love your videos and how insightful you are but i gotta say this has way too much shaky cam for me
My copy of PDS came with an extra disc 4.
looks like both of us are gunning for a resident evil copy lol
I'd add Fighters Megamix cause fighting as the Daytona USA car is just weird and also Daytona USA Circuit Edition since I just love racing games.
I’m proud one of our founding fathers was and is a gamer
Children of the Atom is still my favorite.
I hope I can find strikers 1945 because that is my favourite type of game. All top down shooters are my favourite even the bad ones. Truxton is my absolute favourite top down shooter.
So... I started a little late collecting for the Saturn. Just dropped $1300 for Panzer Dragoon Saga... lol
Nice collection and commenary but I NEVER witnessed a camera work this bad before...
Can you buy empty Saturn cases anywhere like you can regular jewel cases?
Never played on a Sega Saturn, might check one out at PAX :D
whats up with your camera? looks like the video was shot underwater
please warp me to 5 years ago, PLEASE lol
Eric Nolen 10 years ago trust me these games were affordable and cheap.wish I knew then when I started collecting.
Some of the games cost so much that it's cheaper to modify your Saturn to play repros and make your own copy. That's about the only way anyone is going to get to play Albert Odyssey.
I have got to get nights with the controller and panzer dragoon saga.
I don't understand why US Saturn and Sega CD game boxes were so ridiculously oversized. It's not like they were going to fit snuggly with any other game boxes.
ah.. you explained that question away. But still, why did anyone ever decide massive boxes was a good idea? It just seems completely unnecessary.
Any recommendations going into collecting for this system?
Save up your money
A Saturn Console itself isn't too expensive if you pay more then 70 or 80 dollars then you've paid too much the next thing is an Action Replay 4 MB RAM Cart which is about $35 or $40. Hey im a huge fan and i also live in Portland and have bunch Saturn games some i think you may not have
$150-$200 for Panzer Dragoon Saga. I wish!!!!!!! I'm lucky I have a copy because I would not pay what people are paying today.
I really want all the panzer dragoon games
I bought all mine as reproductions just to be able to play them, but I'll tell you. You will not at all be disappointed when you get them!
You need to do something about that camera work buddy. It can make things hard to watch. Good info though.
I'd gladly pay $150-$200 for PDS today.
Releases Japanese horse racing game in USA, doesn't realease the hundreds of playable titles for the Saturn in the US...sounds about right.
John your video's are great but please get A video tripod [ stand ] shaky video :-[
Panzer Dragoon saga goes for way over $200
