    TLDR: Expose right and use Fujifilm's LUT

    I used to use Premiere, I used it for years actually but I now use davinci resolve and it feels so good having a product thats mine with no subscription and regular free updates even to the next version. Now that im used to the node editing I think Adobe would need to do something very special in order to tempt me back to paying a huge subscription. Thanks for the video I enjoyed it.

      If it wasn't for After Effects, I'd be right there with ya!

      @@matthewpaquette Davinci Resolve can do anything that after effects can, it's much more than just an editor, it has it's own FX system built in. It's a colour grading, editing, special effects marvel. After effects was my hesitation too but now that im on the other side I honestly do not miss after effects and have never come across an editing situation I cannot do with DR. The best thing you could do is download the fully functional free version and give it a good test. I promise you won't be disappointed once you get past the initial learning curve with nodes. Nodes are also a much better way of working than layers imo, for example if you have done a power of effects in after effects it's easy to get confused with what you have done, with nodes you can make super complex changes and still easily make changes to any part with much more ease.
      Btw, I am nothing to do with Blackmagic, I'm just a guy who uses their software. I made the switch in 2020 when I bought a BMPCC4K camera and the studio version came with the camera. It was brilliant being able to edit braw footage too. From then I was hooked and haven't looked back. No more payments to Adobe and every other month there is another free update to Davinci. Try it!

    No seriously it‘s a great tutorial about grading basics!

    I agree, when shooting flog overexposing a tad is way better than under exposing 😢 when you raise that exposure up in post oh my it’s noise central

    "less is always more when it comes to colour grading" you are absolutely right. Unless you really really know what you are doing, a few touches here and there, work great.
    I'm stuck in the middle. I can nail simpler grades but I can't seem to get ahead and get those more complex grades on my own. Hell, even while following a tutorial, I will probably mess it up.

    LOL it`s noisy only in Premiere... Just Try Davinci or even or Vegas Pro. I never see so big noise there like you have it here in this video 4:00. Noise is same as you shot image in 640 iso.

    Could I ask what Software do you need for this? I would love to 'edit' my videos from the xh1. However there are so many editing programmes. It wouldn't be all the time so cost is a factor as I still need lens too etc

    Are all logs the same? S log, f log, c log

    • @matthewpaquette
      @matthewpaquette  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not quite. They all vary in information retention. Some can be difficult to handle others are very simple. Personally I really like c-log the most because it’s so easy to handle but official conversion LUTs are game changing

    Photography is more about computer editing skills these days rather than actual photography camera skill.. The end result being highly edited...Agree ? (probably not) 😉 Love your content tho 🇮🇪
