You killed me :D Excellent !
Hahahaha

One of the funniest comments I've ever read on TH-cam.
@Stork Legs actually he's very good at double pedal strokes as well.
Here after watching Rick Beatos interview with Jimmy. 😮💨
Great video
Yup!
Me2
Rick said "and Jimmy, you don't hit the cymbals hard". And Jimmy agreed 😂
You search all video about jimmy chamberlain after that?
Drum cam of an entire show from '94? I must have died and gone to heaven.
Chris Kirshbaum Dude, I would love to be the guy behind the camera! What an epic show!
Well, being there was pretty good too :-)
It's really something of a miracle that this video exists.
16:16 best drummer in the world playing in the 90ees - streamable on demand 30 years later- no-one would have believed that. Maybe someone can feed his technique into an aI to come up with new songs
This is one of the sickest drum vids on the whole damn Internet. Just unreal.
Danny Carey has entered the chat...
@@anthonym612 We get it, Danny Carey’s good

@@hankb7725 Bro stop gatekeeping. Ur closing off the fandom by doing that. Uncool
@@coconut6431 that makes not sense
@@hankb7725 Well calling someone a fake fan simply for liking a song could drive them away from listening to the band. Thats what I'm saying. Plus Geek USA is awesome
This has to be like, the Holy grail for JC fans!!! omg.
liamvg indeed!🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
liamvg - Life's a bummer when D'Arcy can't play with the Pumpkins this year 2088 lol
Fuck yes - look at that goddamn drum setup!
Yes it is. I watch it over and over lol
Matt Cissna
Pure gold my dude.
This is why I play the drums because of this guy.
@Jeff B cringe ass pussy grow up and be a man you can always improve and reach your goals if you work for it
Oh yeah, I get that! I would have played drums too after I played them in school, but I had no way to own a drum set, cuz I loved in an apartment. So I went down Billy's guitar path. I still love playing drums, and sort of dream being as good as this guy. Pro!
Same
This band is half the reason I play guitar
Me too!!!!!
Jimmy's left foot is God.
So that would make his right foot the Devil 🤘 Lol
what about his right foot? did ya every think of that?
Drums part of Geek USA was originally written by God but JC plays it much better.
If it was written by God, that was certainly His finest hour.
Those poor drums…
I’m not a drummer but jimmy is why I like the pumpkins. I love his style.
He completed the Pumpkins the same way Dave completed Nirvana, only he replaced a drum machine, where Dave was the final in a series of drummers.
Few outside of metal and funk were as creative as Jimmy in the 90's.
@@davidtingley9978 i suppose Jazz too, since Jimmy is a traditionally trained Jazz drummer growing up.
Billy acting psychotic, james skipping away at the end, Jimmy drumming like a deity, and Darcy just keeping cool and trying not to be too embarrassed. I love this band
Their live attack, pre-Mellon Collie, was fucking savage! More so than most of their peers at the time.
Jimmy all the way....totally agreed
@@Fakename70 only a band like TOOL or Kyuss were as savage on stage that i witnessed around 93-94-95
@@Fakename70 more so than anyone ever
The broken stick swap at 30:10 during hummer is the smoothest I’ve ever seen. So quick and literally didn’t miss a beat. Mental
Listen to it with your eyes closed, would never be able to tell if he broke a stick there. Have to see it to know
the broken stick swap at 43:53 is even smoother
Such a gifted drummer! His technique is flawless and without overplaying he compliments every song. His snare chops are weapons grade!
I'm pretty sure this might be one of the best videos I've stumbled upon in my history of browsing TH-cam.
As a drummer, i thank you from the bottom of my heart...this truly is a treasure...Jimmy is in a world of his own, where he rules as the Lord of Drum. Hail!
Roll. Triplet. Flam. Triple Flam. Hair Toss. Drink-a-cup-of-whatever. Crash. China. Crash. Splash. Triplet... this is why JC is god.
What about left foot
@@electromuff7870 Does Jimmy even use his left foot? LOL
@@ToneSherpa not sure if it's a joke

@@electromuff7870 Does Jimmy even HAVE a left foot? I've never seen him with one.
Jimmy Chamberlin = Most Underrated Drummer of All Time
Not by me.
wtf are you talking about no one underrates this guy😆
Sure he is no Lars Ulrich or Phil Rudd
Most people only really talk about five drummers:
Neil Peart
John Bonham
Ringo Starr or Keith Moon
The drummer of their favorite band
The drummer they're listening to that second
the best drummer ever!!
Wow. Got to see it to really appreciate how critical Jimmy was to the sound.
They arent the same band without Jimmy.
This is Jazz/Rock drumming at it's finest. Jimmy is an absolute beast. Nobody else comes close.
Nobody else came close in that decade. But, throughout history, there have been others.
It's awesome but let's not forget the likes of Sean Reinert, Gene Hoglan, and Gavin Harrison who have bridged the gap between rock, jazz and metal so well.
@@ryukan250 or Danny Carrey for the matter ( mixing Tablas and jazz technique to play metal prog )
Awesome! Have never seen this angle before. Drummers will love this.
LOVE the angle! Hate the "I'm a drummer, too" comments it spawns.
it’s a drum cam…not uncommon
Now I understand how to play this song!
Geek USA is 5:13 on the record and they play it here in around 4:40. You can see D'arcy going over to Chamerlin and probably asking him to slow down, to no avail ^^
I understand that live energy makes you play faster -- but its almost too fast to enjoy the song. Billy plays everything super fast live though - he starts Cherub Rock and its the same amount faster as everything else...I dont think it was Jimmy's foot, putting the pedal to the metal...I think it was Billy pushing tempos from the first note.
Sometimes live shows in festivals are like that. They give the bands 45-50min because the other band is coming next so they compress the songs playing faster. Fastcore
Much more likely D'arcy was looking at this right hand to gauge tempo. That's a huge dynamic shift and she probably couldn't hear his ride cymbal pulse in the monitor.
@@alecj3454naw it makes geek usa sound punk and raw, it’s badass!
Wow! Mesmerized by his playing. What a unique perspective of a master at work. Must be a wet dream for all you drummers out there.
G Cummins still nutting.....
💦💦💦
17:30 now I know why he has that big first time....thanks video!
Sigh.....zip
How long until they release watches that can be sync'ed to Jimmy's left foot? I mean, atomic clocks are fine, but I'm looking for actual precision.
I am not a drummer, but I can watch Jimmy forever. Have been lucky enough to see him a ton of times live. Watching him attack Geek USA is an honor as a musician. and... a master class in drumming.
Best rock drummer ever.
lol ok
Sure dude
Jimmy is a jazz drummer. Still the best, just don't diminish what he really is.
I wouldn't say ever, but damn he kicks serious ass.. Always really appreciated his style and technique, one of the best rock drummers for sure.
Jon Theodore riu-se...
Just watched the count me in documentary on Netflix. I kept waiting for him to appear...well guess not. Can't beleive he was not even mentioned! He is the best rock drummer of all time, hands down. Been a fan since 1994!
No way that’s on my watch list! He’s phenomenal it’s a shame he’s not on there!
Jimmy’s the Eddie Van Halen of drumming, fills every conceivable space but tastefully
Alex Van Halen is the Eddie Van Halen of drumming
He makes it look so easy and effortless
30:12 the way he throws the stick and gets a new one without screwing up is the reason this guy is a god haha
Chad Fleischauer My exact thought! And just before playing that fill which closes the intro!!!
Try 43:54
Jimmy is a drum god, but pretty much all drummers can do that. He has sticks at the ready for that very reason, as do all prepared drummers, and switching out while keeping the beat is not difficult.
Besides the other 5000000000 reasons he's a god..
Yeah, sometimes hands get sweaty and you lose grip so he goes for a fresh dry stick. When you've got unlimited amounts of sticks available I guess you become more prone to switching sticks every other minute...
It just gets better and better and better the longer the gig goes on. It's insane
Thank God Smack didn,t kill Jimmy.
No, just the other guy partying with him
Yes, life gave Jimmy a second chance but sadly not for Jonathan Melvoin
This concert brought to you by Pantene Pro V. For glossy and radiant hair like Jimmy use Pantene.
Love you Jimmy. You're an inspiration.
THE JIMMY CHAMBERLIN FOUR, everybody!
while watching this, for a moment I had a sad feeling of being old... and then they started playing Geek USA and it was gone
It's only gotten worse now, but that song still helps.
I saw them on this tour. It still bugs me how they played it all at mach speed. It was even faster than this performance, and Billy screeched virtually every lyric, rather than the breathy thing he does most of the time on the albums - BUT - the saving grace was Jimmy playing all his dynamic, intricate, thoughtful beats at almost twice the speed, without breaking a sweat, as if playing those parts at twice the speed was as simple as turning up the RPM knob on a record player. To this day I've never been as impressed with a live drum performance.
Man, my life was so good when I made this comment, six years ago. Life can really bring you down.
I can't believe he used to have a second remote set of hi-hats. I don't know why that blows my mind so much. But it does. And AAX Fusion hats of all things. Man he used to love that Sabian AAX stuff too. Now he's all the about the dark Zildian and Istanbul stuff.
I count 11 symbal thingys and 9 drum thingys. A 20pc kit. Wow!
Jimmy fucking rocks. This was nothing to him. Made it look effortless.
How i miss the 90s. Look at that crowd. Not even 1 cellphone in the air.
Also more fluoride in the water now
This is one of the greatest videos on TH-cam. What's more greater than seeing rebellious teenagers body surfing in a fun and carefree peaceful environment while great live music is being played. Pure freedom. The 90's. The last grate decade. A time before the shit hit the fan.
I like this show from the drummers perspective! Usually the lead singer gets all the attention and hogs the spotlight and the drummer is forgotten and last to get any attention. This video reverses that viewpoint and I find it refreshing and a nice change of pace for once! Maybe this could start a new trend of videos from the drummers viewpoint. That would be great! I’d buy this DVD 📀 in a heartbeat because I like and admire great drummers!
Recently got into the pumpkins (late I know) and was thinking hmmm the drummer's pretty good. Further googling reveals he's a beast!!!
Mat Setizar dude same. I’m listening and I’m like “damn, that hi-hat doesn’t stop does it?” And “how the fuck did he play that fill?” And now I’m getting answers lol.
Best drummer in the world my friend
What a sight to behold eight minutes in with a camera behind Jimmy Chamberlin. What a rush! Tremendous crowd.
The sound is great and so’s the viewpoint!. I always watch the drummer first. Thanks!
I don’t know who decided to record this show from this vantage point but I want to thank them profusely. This is amazing!
This is how it’s done!
Watch and learn!
His drum rolls are great!
JC is one of the best ever!
Jimmy’s Mum
This was my generation of going to gigs regular and to see the crowded bouncing en masse takes me back so nicely. The 90s were so good
I would’ve killed to get my hands on this video as a young drummer mystified by Jimmy Chamberlain. I just had to listen to the records about 65 million times to get the licks down
This is the holy grail of drumming here... fkn mind blowing
Jimmy Chamberlain is in my opinion one of the grooviest drummers of all time I just love grooving along watching him play it makes me wanna go sit down on my throne.
Didn't realize Jimmy had such a fast foot. Cherub at twice the speed, good night...
Jimmys left leg = best time keeper on the planet
fuck metronomes haha
One of my favorite drummers of all time.
His stamina is phenomenal...
He's got to be pretty damn fit.
I wouldn’t bet against him being able to play this exact same set list today, either. Dude’s a machine.
I was in the crowd at that fabulous concert . I saw them 2, 3 times after but this was the epitome of The Smashing in full power mode . Jimmy was just phenomenal .
I see you!
This is Brilliant. Thank you
So cool hearing it all through the analogue board and the track adjustment at the start.
this is unreal .The hallmark of 90s drumming
Jimmy is the boss, pure energy and control
aint nobody fuckin with JC when it comes to druming hes in class all by himself wow
One of the best rock shows of all time.Period.
best concert ever in my opinion! im 37 turning 38 and i wish music like this would come back and have fun party and give it everything they have
a few friends & I went to this Festival & witnessed the best SP gig there was in that region during that year . The other bands were good but eclipsed by this wild performance . There is another footage ( officially released by the band in VHS format from the same year i think ) a friend bought at the time . I don't remember how it was called . In the meantime , u can review this Fillmore phenomenal concert ( the whole Siamese Dream 93/94 world Tour Tour was simply one of a kind in rock ) that i just found : th-cam.com/video/M3s02WuWMt0/w-d-xo.html
Jimmy by far the best rock drummer ever with a taste of jazz drumming! amazing!!!
I hate to argue personal opinions...but, to say he's "by far the best ever" is really omitting at least 2 heavyweights with the same influence that preceded him by decades.
@@Fakename70 we could mention ( from the same era ) at least 3 or 4 solid incredible drummers from that provided innovative fills & style for: Porno For pyros , Tool , Primus , Soundgarden just to name a few . Jimmy is unique ...
Best live performance of Hummer. Ever.
you can tell its the final gig of a tour. Jimmy is so deep in the fucking zone here. Silverfuck is one of the best examples of rock drumming that i have found so far on youtube.
Silverfuck is outta control, in the best way. Billy started it way too fast. lol Jimmy delivered.
38:12, I just love how his jazz roots slip in, lol he just starts double time swinging this.
another time, now in 2019, cant stop seeing that video, thx!!
John Bonham, Neil Peart, Jimmy Chamberlin. Same league as far as I'm concerned.
One of the differences between Bonham and other drummers is Bonham always tried to make sure he never played the same drum line over and over again. He always wanted his drum fills and rolls be different throughout the song. His paradiddle combinations were always fresh. Those other drummers play repetitive drum lines.Generic and predictable fills.Bonham's creativity on the drums is unmatched to this day.
Put Dave Abbruzzesse from early Pearl Jam on that list!
jeffrey jones that is such an ignorant statement… i’m not sure if you think I am talking about Matt Cameron but Dave is far from one dimensional
Alex Scott You obviously haven´s heard Rush - there is nothing repetitive or generic about Neil´s playing. Drummers like Bonham or Porcaro are known for their amazing grooves, while drummers like Peart or Copeland are known for their unparalleled creativity.
jeffrey jones Your family is wrong! I know there is a nice guy in there somewhere, capable of showing respect for people and of building meaningful relationships; just fine tune your interpersonal skills. Don´t forget to smile!
How hard this man works...pure gold results too.
He was a jazz drummer originally which explains the french grip but he absolutely rips with it
Jimmy is the Best!! #Jimmycam
Fucking awesome dude. I always wanted a SP live show from jimmy's cam. Do u have more stuff like this?
he doesn't use his left hand always as a dedicated snare hand, he moves around the kit so much its just whatever hand is nearest to it hits the snare beat.
his cover his blown at 17:05. Jimmy has 3 hands...it all makes sense now
Download this before it's gone, what a treasure
This is so pleasing to watch
I was always told not to drum with my pinkies stickin out, but after seeing this....Thanks Jimmy!
Another day in the office, and what a view.
Man, that was some experience. Having some dude do a cracking remaster of a handful of tunes from that gig.....I thought it couldn't get any better. But to get to watch Jimmy Chamberlin in full flow from the best camera in the house.....I'm blown away..
his drumming on siemese dream adds so much to the album, cherub rock c,mon what a intro
This is just a most incredible...most magical camera shot!!! This is RARE folks!!
People really don’t get how hard it is to do what he does
It's insanely hard to play some of his stuff to the level of polish and consistency he has, but at least it's "aproachable"
A wet dream of all JC fans and drummers. Awesome, isolated drum track, astounding perspective. Love him, love SP
Silverfuck live version gives me goosebumps every time
best rock drummer ever.glad to listen good real music
Jimmy and Danny Carey have similar playing styles IMO I love them both Rock ON!!!!
This is absolutely amazing footage. Cudos to the camera operator for focusing on Jimmy Chamberland. Truely historic footage of one of the greatest bands and rock drummers of all time. I saw them that year at Lallapallooza and this brings back great memories.
Awesome footage man. As a drummer myself Jimmy and Dave Grohl have been 2 of my major influences and ive been looking for a drum cam vid of Jimmy from back in his heyday. Love his set up during this era too. You can always tell when hes feeling it and locked in when he starts to play super aggressive during the song and flowing. Its awesome how he is super aggressive but then can also turn this around and play light as a feather. Totally can tell hes originally a jazz drummer to by the chops he plays and always keeping time w the high hat.
totally agree .
The near magical fluidity of Jimmy on drums during Cherub Rock is pure pleasure to watch
What an absolute gem of a find! I can't believe how fast they play cherub rock :)
Happy birthday, James Joseph Chamberlin (June 10, 1964)!
Insane drumming by Jimmy. And he's almost this fast these days also, amazing. Always been my favorite drummer. Skills like few.
To whoever shot, mixed, and produced this: drumming worldwide is in your debt
The show was originally broadcasted on Dutch television by the VPRO. Songs like Rocket, Today, Disarm, Drown (video-material released years later), hummer, Geek USA and Silverfuck made the screens. This single-cam footage shows us the other played songs + extended versions of broadcasted songs.
Thank you so much for the two Pinkpop uploads. Where did you find this video? It's just incredible.
Also, very excited for Billy's new music!
Contender for greatest thing on TH-cam
Drummer hair flick essential to any rock drummers repertoire.
Finally is here! thank you so much
Just wow! On every level. Awesome
July 2022 and I'm here again and also I've seen that video several times between my last comment. JC with Stephen Perkins both drummers that make cry playing drums, thx.
30:11 how he threw one stick and grab another that was cool
Jimmy ChamberGOD.
Not really. Plenty of times he was out of the beat at this gig. He's doing better these days.
dXb you’re a fucking idiot
Been a drummer all over for years... and a Pumpkins fan... super embarassed to be realizing how great Jimmy is this late in the game. MONSTER!
