Hello, I have a pump where the spacer slightly moves to the left and right between the two couplings IS THAT NORMAL? OR SHOULD THE SPACER NOT MOVE AT ALL?
... Did you just use a ruler to check alignment? if you manufacture API equipment please have your clients use a dial or laser. Based on RPM you should be aiming for .05-.09 mil angular and 1-1.5 mil offset. Also is this doweled, flat faced or a spigot? Even a spigot can have a .005"-.0020" slop. Don't for get to check you TIR at the shaft closet to the coupling to ensure you have done the alignment correct
Hello,

IS THAT NORMAL? OR SHOULD THE SPACER NOT MOVE AT ALL?
What is the type of coupling being used?

Why can't you install the motor side coupling beforehand

I don't think so,it will give you correct alignment.... It's just a rough alignment..
