The battle for Naboo really is highly underrated. The Gungans' stand, the battle at Theed, the assault of the droid control ship, they all get pretty overshadowed by the Duel of Fates. Not to knock the duel of course, one of the best movie fights of all time, just sad so many people forget how good the rest was.
The gungan battle is dumpen down by the "comedy" of Jar Jar... I guess something Marvel does nowadays where no serious moment can last more than 1 second and we need a joke.
Ummm..well the music is great as usually of John Williams..but remember what red letter media said about the battle? That the lightsaber battle looks too choreographed, you actually have no idea where the trio are battling (seriously what was that room?), the fact that anakin was even allowed in the battle and that since the audience is so confused by what is actually happening and why, the battle is made less important. When you wonder “why should I care about this Maul guy when all he ever does is just stare menacingly with almost no lines? What’s his story? Why does he serve the emperor? Actually what was palpatine’s plan here?”The reason why the original fights stand out is because 1)why the fight takes place in those circumstances makes sense, 2)you care about the characters having gotten to know them, 3)the limited special effects forced the actors to play as real life knights/samurais. This added to the tension. Your mind tried to envision how a sword fighter would overcome his opponent. This actually was something the original trilogy took from Japanese samurai films there’s a Japanese film where Two swordsman are dueling each other. Except that the duel…has no flashy effects, it’s just the two of the them walking around each other with music, each character trying to gauge the other’s fighting style, and when there is action, the duel ends pretty quickly. It is an incredible fight scene that has little fighting but so much character writing. The older master beating down the younger challenger. This actually got a tribute in Star Wars rebels where obi wan beats maul in a second.

And the theme of a literal nine-year-old destroying a giant spaceship. That's some metal shit, dude.
@@tinobemellow Funny thing is I don't remember if I meant this more thinking of the music or the cinematography of it, but both are true, really.
