This is very instructive, thank you. I don't know how people lived before youtube.

Thanks for your videos Darren, you do an excellent job. One thing I've always wondered is if you feel pressured to really hurry the repair along. I know your rates are $175 an hour, and it would be pretty easy to charge the customer more than what it would cost just to replace the entire furnace, hot water heater Etc. Or maybe not more, but you would charge them enough where they would be better off just pulling it out and sticking a new one in the hole. Especially if it was old or older. Keep the videos coming, appreciate all your hard work.

We charge based on the industry flat rate. We use the Spader RV service manual to come up with the task time and multiply that published task time by our shop rate. The shop rate represents the certified technician and all the training, certification, and experience that he comes with as well as the shop tools, equipment, and supplies necessary to perform the task on location. So it's not just me going out there punching a clock for an hourly rate - it's everything that comes with me - my service trailer has probably over $80,000 worth of tools, equipment, and inventory! So it really doesn't matter how much physical time I take on a repair task - it's what the flat rate guide listed as. We do that so it keeps it fair for the customer and it keeps it fair for us. Some shops that charge strictly by the hour can take a job in milk it and some shops don't carry the tools and equipment that we have in our service trailer to actually do the job on location. Before we accept the job we have a dialogue with a customer to make sure that we arrived completely prepared. I would say for the jobs that we do we probably have more training, tools, and equipment that we arrived with to a customer's location then a lot of technicians you find at the larger dealerships in order shops.

Are those P 40's always that noisy? Mine sound just as like that. Thought it was the blower, but it was fine.

Hello from the great white North! Have a p40 in my park model and we lost heat two days ago. I replaced the electrode ignighter as the old one was corroded, but still not getting any fire. Tested the ignighter and there is no electrical movement when the furnace kicks on and see no spark or glow. Thinking it's a sensor on the control module. Fan comes on, she's getting propane. Since I installed the new ignightor I had it going for maybe 2 minutes but no luck since then. Any suggestions or thoughts? Thanks in advance

I know it's been a couple months but I'd say either the combustion blower proving switch or the control module.
