Your wife must really love you. In the states, we’d be divorced if we traded bikes so often. Hmmm. Maybe I will try the interesting content excuse! I really love your channel, and look forward to every post.
Haha, I get that. My wife is Brazilian, so quite laid back when it comes to things like this. Thanks for your kind words of encouragement. Stay safe :)
I changed 6 bikes for 7 years and when I got Ducati Diavel Gen2 found what I was looking for. Not the best bike by all means but the gives me a smile on my face every time I open the throttle. Hope you could find yours and stick to it as long as you have fun.
Thanks, Nik. My new bike should hopefully be here by the end of the month and I am quietly confident that I have found the right model for me. Fingers crossed :)
I totally understand your reason mate for selling the bike and I'm glad to say that your videos made my mind and I'll pick up my Trident today! Keep up the good work!
Congratulations on getting one of the best bikes around at the moment, and possibly the best bike under €10-12,000. Thanks for your support and enjoy the Trident :)
There is a burnt orange coming in the next few months. I ordered a trident yesterday and the dealer has allocations for the unannounced colour from July onwards.
Tbh my heart sank a little when I saw the video, I knew why you did it but still, before watching it I was afraid of hearing that it was because of something bad. But I totally agree with everything you said in the video. Your friend is very lucky! As always great video and greetings from Greece.
@@RocketMan_Moto yea I think I will never sell the trident (hah big words I know), it will be my workhorse. Btw would you consider getting the Indian FTR R? If not I vote for the tenere
Thank you for your insights on this bike. I'm gonna enjoy mine for some more years I think. Your vids were very nice about the bike! Good luck in the future with other bikes!
Hello RocketMan. I am from India. Here the cb650r costs $14500 while the trident is $12000. I found both very easy bikes for heavy traffic use. Am 5’10” with short inseam but bulky body. Please advise which of these two is a better everyday bike with occasional long trips? I disliked the feel on z900. I also took a long test ride of street triple, however due to heavy traffic the engine overheated and the bike shut down refusing to start for almost 40 mins standstill
Wow, that's no good, is it? Hard to say which bike is best for you, but I really enjoyed the Trident. Best bike I ever sold, lol. I found the Honda a bit boring in comparison :)
@@RocketMan_Moto Honda cost of service is 1/3rd to that of triumph. Hondas are easiest bikes to ride, that’s why they seem boring. It’s for riders like us who always get left behind in a group ride. I am great full to your suggestion, it helps my decision! Thank you sir
Haha, thanks David :) I'm pretty sure (hope!) you're going to approve of my next bike. Ordered a couple of days ago, it should be here in about a month, so not too long to wait :)
Interesting to see what you got next. I've just bought a CB500x and actually used some of your videos to help me decide. So far its been an excellent choice 👌
Glad to know my videos have been of some help to you. The 500X is a really decent bike, but I personally have grown out of it, mainly due to the lack of power. Hope you enjoy yours :)
I found your channel by sucking up all the info i could get on the trident, and after mine finally arrived i hoped to get more insights as you have given me before. And i love my trident. I´m sad for not getting more trident info from you, but i´m curious what else is to come. 👍
I ordered the new bike this afternoon and apparently it will be here in about a month. I think (hope) you will approve. In the meantime, enjoy your Trident, it's a wonderful machine :)
Whenever my misses has a go at me for changing bikes too often I mention your name, the longest bike I have owned and still own is my Triumph Bonnieville T120 brought that in 2018, then last April brought a BMW gs1250, and also in April I ordered a Honda crf300l as I like going off-road that should arrive in August, I have tried to convince myself that’s it no more, but you don’t help my friend, I love your work and look forward to what’s coming.
Well I'm glad someone has beaten my record for the shortest ownership ever! I was hoping to get to the Speed Twin launch but wasn't able to go either due to the last minute Covid rule change. Hey ho, the new Speed Twin looks amazing, I am sure you'll enjoy it. Content wise, it would be the perfect next bike.
Haha, even by my standards, this was a quick turnaround. Such a shame Triumph didn't think me worthy of their press launch at the weekend. Several TH-camrs based in the UK were unable to attend because of the travel restrictions, but I live right next door! What makes you think the next bike is the Speed Twin? I love torque, classic styling and massive brakes...and Triumphs... I can't see the connection ;) Keep up the good work, I always watch your videos!
@@RocketMan_Moto I wouldn't take it too personally, there's so many of us creators now and such limited spaces. It's a shame though as it would have made sense for you to go though being a local! If that is indeed your next bike, I will be very envious. Thanks for the kind words, appreciated. Your content is very informative and to the point. I waffle a lot but that's me! :D Ride safe! Dan
So it is the speed twin huh! The new updates with the new suspension and the higher spec brakes do make it a tasty option and it is so so good looking!
@@RocketMan_Moto How DARE you ... ;-) The ST 2021 is on my shopping shortlist. I remember that I asked you what you think about the new Speed Twin 2021 - and you answered you almost bought a 2019 ST, but felt it was too expensive for what it offered. The small updates 2021 convinced you to buy one? Interessting ... :-)
@@RocketMan_Moto If you havent been able to join the press launch date 1-2 weeks ago - so yo needed to do a blind buy without testride? Or could you catch a view on their tour? Before other maybe less important info ab the bike from my side (all 3rd hand, I cant testride it before 08-2021), I do have one hopefully interessting info/hint for you: Its about the stock tires, the crazy Metzler Racetec RRs. I just read 2 days ago that Triumph on customer request will put Pirelli Rosso III on the bike from factory. I dont believe the will really do it in production factory, but most likely this sounds like a cost free change at the dealer at day one. I do have the Rosso III on my Street R - on total free choice on my bike as also the ST 2021 I would opt for a modern sports tourer tires like Mezler Roadtec SE 01, Pirelli Angelt GT2, etc. - but for sure the Rosso III is the way more daily use reasonable choice. In portugal the wether may be close to ok for the Racetec, but consider, if you dont give those tires the full beans all the time, on just cosy riding around they wont reach optimal operating temperature.
Good choice. I had a triple and second gear under load started to jump. I sold the bike ( telling the new owner about the problem.....I'm not evil ) then found out common problem but really expensive to fix as when it breaks, it takes the whole gearbox with it. I will never have another triumph because the parts costs are almost harleyesque in price.
Everyone says that the throttle is a bit "slow" which means that as you roll the throttle it takes some time for the motor to accelerate. So there is a slight delay. You know what i mean?
Just watched this again. This has reminded me of why you sold it. Great engine. Triumph, Portugal didn't get back to you. That doesn't surprise me. Nick
I just got my Trident two weeks ago and I can assure you it was your videos about this bike I found most useful and unbiased. Although I'm sorry to hear you already sold it (no more videos about Trident :( ) I can totally understand your reasons for doing so. No matter which bike you'll get, I'll keep watching! Highly entertaining! The only question is what will you make videos about until september? :D Greetings from Denmark
Thank you. Well, I ordered the replacement this afternoon and the dealer told me it could be here in a month, so not too long to wait. I hope you are enjoying your Trident, it's a fabulous machine :)
I'm trying to decide between the Trident, XSR 700, MT07 and (even though quite different) the Rebel 1100. How would you compare the reliability, maintenance cost vs ride comfort.
Tbh, I’d probably go for the Hornet now. It’s the most modern and most fun to ride, and very good in terms of maintenance & reliability. If you can live with the uninspiring looks🤔 I like the idea if the Rebel 1100, but I’m not a fan of the engine or DCT gearbox.
I sold my Suzuki to buy a car, as I became a parent last year (been driving two wheels since I was 14) and I live in Portimão and I recognise a lot of locations in your videos. I absolutely enjoy them. Keep the brilliant work you're doing! Once I get back on two wheels we should meet up for a ride. ;)
Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. Ah yes, parenthood requires some sacrifice, but it's worth it :) I am often in Portimao at the Honda dealer, and the motorbike club I have joined usually starts from Staples car park (there's a good pastelaria just opposite) :)
Lol, still waiting on my Trident 660 to arrive. And you are selling yours or should say sold yours. Big thank's you and a few other's that I follow for reviews. Can't wait to get back to riding.
The wait must be frustrating, but it really is a fabulous machine. Despite selling my Trident, I still believe it's one of the best bikes around under €12K. Enjoy :)
Glad to see another video from you, I was only looking at your channel other day to see if I’d missed anything from you. I follow your channel with interest because I also live in the Algarve and recognise many of the locations you film. I’ve just bought myself a KTM 390 Adventure to explore the miles of gravel roads the Algarve offers because I found that my Triumph Bonneville wasn’t exactly suited to off-road duties 😂 I must say I’ve been very pleasantly surprised at how good the little KTM is. 😀👍
Thanks, Rick. Where exactly are you? I haven't ridden the 390 yet, but I've heard lots of good things about it. Where's the KTM dealer located in the Algarve? Ride safe :)
@@RocketMan_Moto I’m currently living in Lagos but should be moving to Silves very soon. There are two KTM dealers on the Algarve, one in Loule (MotoFM) and one in Chinicato (R&S Motos). I got mine from Loule because I didn’t realise there was a dealer on my doorstep. I rented a CB500x and a BMW G310GS before choosing the KTM 390
@@RocketMan_Moto if you want to take my 390 for a spin you’re more than welcome, although unfortunately you’ll have to wait until September because I’ve literally just arrived in the UK. Bad timing I’m afraid. 🤗
I also decided to trade in my Trident after one full season and 8,200 KM of riding. I am in my 50's and opted for something more my style - the 2022 Street Twin. With it's recent updates to hp, I think I will be quite happy with the power, torque and style of the bike. I loved the Trident and it really got me confident riding again after being off a bike for many years. But now I need something more mature, classic looking and welcoming to a pillion - my wife! Thanks for your videos and perspective.
I,m in my 50s and have had a St twin, from New for 3yrs. It's been a great, well built and torquey bike. But I,ve got use to its performance now and just fancy a change. So, about to do the exact opposite of yourself. 🤓And get a trident.
Downsizing like Stuart Fillingham? He has either four or five bikes in his shed. I was surprised at the sale of the Trident, but look forward to the reviews on the new bike(s).
Just keep what you are doing and don’t change. You making the best bike videos here because of your super clean talking, no background noise and no stupid music. I don’t watch the others anymore since you started. Really enjoyable. TMF used to be good but not anymore. Too long and too greedy for subs. Whatever bike you get I’ll watch it 👍
Strange,, after watching your first couple of video's on the Trident and a few other tuber reviews I bought a Matt black one, loved it ,does everything great for the price but was lacking one thing for me, character. So last week I sold mine, I'm now on an Indian Ftr 1200😁 my Mrs just rolled her eyes🙄Looking forward to seeing your new steed🤔
David, That's exactly how I feel about my 2016 Yam FZ09 I bought last summer and I am considering letting it go already. It's great and wonderful and lightning fast but it just lacks character, IMO. I bought a '98 Triumph Sprint a few weeks ago, and yes it's older with older tech but man does it ever have the character.
Starting to doubt my purchase of a trident now (nothing to do with this video by the way)…but how would you compare the trident to the street twin and the z650rs? Those were the only other two bikes I was considering at time of purchase, hoping I made the best choice haha
You may have spotted in my other videos that I have had a Speed Twin for the last year. It has the fit & finish and power that I found lacking on the Trident. The Street Twin is a nice bike, but ultimately a bit underpowered, at least for me. I haven’t tried the Z650 RS, but I’ve heard lots of good things about it and I really like the 900😊
Thanks so much for addressing my question, much appreciated! I think my plan is to ride the Trident for the next few years until I treat myself to either a Speed Twin, Z900RS, or XSR900 for my 40th birthday. Looking forward to more great videos!
Well, I tried Triumph Trident but my local dealer couldn't promise delivery of a bike sooner than in September. So I tried new Yamaha MT-09 2021 and immediatelly fell in love and ordered. I think such of bike would suits you...!!! M.
Remember commentnng when you first uploaded after you bought. When all there was to watch were those strange unboxing videos. Love your channel. Triumph rally pro an option for you?
Go on then I'll have a shot/guess. Honda Forza or a Xmax300. On a different note, from memory do you think your new 5 speed Grom has a lower first gear over your previously owned Monkey.
I did actually re-test ride the Forza 350 last week, but realised it's too big and cumbersome for what we need from a scooter. The first & fifth gears do seem slightly stretched out - if that makes sense - compared to the 2019 Monkey I had. Having a fifth gear, in particular, makes all the difference :)
@@RocketMan_Moto Thanks for the reply. I did own a second generation grom a couple of years back but first gear was a tad high to mess about in the garden and I sold it. Do like the new grom, I,m just waiting though til the 5 speed monkey arrives in the dealers here in France. Both bikes have pros and cons but will probably buy one before year end.
The Monkey is definitely the cuter of the two, but not being able to occasionally take a passenger, as I can (just!) on the Grom was a deal breaker for me :)
Yes, we're very lucky down here. I did think of the Monster, but it's too skinny for me, and the ride height looks odd, almost like a mini SUV/crossover.
I replaced my TriumphTrident already too with a BMW F900R SE. I like the BMW technology and the additional weight which helps stability, the Trident is very light. I did try the F900XR ( like you had) and didn’t like it.
Will be picking up my Trident next week after a 2 month wait. How did you find the stiffness of the front suspension in your ownership? On my test ride it was on the firm side but I'm hoping I'll get used to it/learn to love it...
Great choice! I found the suspension firm to begin with, but with time I think it softened up and/or I got used to it, so not as big an issue as I first thought :)
Just watched a recent video of yours where you mention your Trident quickshifter. Did you have it from the very start of your ownership? If so, did it work from mile zero or would it only work once the 600 mile running in completed?
@@RocketMan_Moto I did. Did about 120 miles on all types of roads - loved it. I miss my old Hypermotard 1100S but the new ones are far too tall. It’s not as bonkers as a Street Triple RS and not as sedate as the Trident. In truth the Street is a better bike but I enjoy the L twin of the Monster and it makes me smile - for me it’s just got more fun factor.
Go for the Rocket! We’ll be interested in seeing more touring around Portugal videos than reviews of bikes. Lots of bike reviews out there but not that many showing the unique landscape and points of interest in Portugal and Spain.
I would love the Rocket, but €€€ :( I try to show as much of Portugal as I can, and hopefully soon I will be able to travel a bit further. Spain is just an hour's ride... :)
@@RocketMan_Moto Oh yes, exactly that one 😊 Also, The one which resonates with the song “Poetry in Motion”, if you know what I mean. The one that looks so good as a package that you want to park it in your living room. The one which makes your heart flip flop just looking at her. Enough said I think 😊 Look forward to your delivery and riding experience. Ride safe. Cheers
@@RocketMan_Moto one sort of afterthought 😊 I don’t like the black end caps at the end of the silencers at all. Wish Triumph had kept the entire exhaust with the same finish. Maybe there could be some solution to that. That and maybe a tail tidy to complete the look. What is your view on this? Cheers
Enjoy your new Speed Twin. 😊 What are you going to do when you run out of new Triumphs that fit your criteria...? Have you tried the Z900RS yet lol ? You have just made a lot of us jealous with your sensible reasons for getting a new bike. All Best it'll be a long month lol 👍🖖
Something that fits in your van...that rules out any taller bike. So it has to be a street bike on the more comfortable side. You mention your aging joints, that also rules out anything on the more sportier side with a tucked seating position. I would love you doing content on the Yamaha Tenere, but that most likely won't fit in your van. Thusly, I will happily take whatever you come up with.
Haha, nice reasoning there, I like your style. Reading through the paragraph, I thought you were going to guess it, but no... Ténéré? Too tall, as you say, and too off-roady. You need to be thinking more 'traditional' :)
I know this is a old video but I went to visit the Triumph store here in the states today. I sat on the Trident and all the other models and just have to say, I was amazed at how nice that Trident was. Really sharp, really comfortable to sit on, much more comfortable than the Speed Twin. I’m curious how tall you are? What are your thoughts on comfort having had both models now some time has passed? I really liked it, Triumph really hit a home run with the Trident I feel. Curious if you miss it now?
It’s definitely up there with the best bikes I’ve ever owned, but I don’t regret ‘upgrading’ to my Speed Twin. There’s a comparison video on my channel, if you’re interested😊
@@RocketMan_Moto haha my thinking was it has around 100hp, Brembo brakes, good suspension, Triumph quality all for around £11k... I think I just talked myself into maybe getting one 😂
I need to ride it, but tbh I have a problem with the way it looks: it's too slim and there's too much space under the engine. Also, the headlight DRL shape reminds me of a toilet seat that's melted slightly in the sun :)
RocketMan let me explain my situation. I’m looking for a new bike, watched your about the honda cb500x and decided nope not for me, put a deposit on a bmw f900xr and nope not for me, checked out a trident yesterday and thought it was too small for me, so I’m dealing on a street triple R in Victoria BC Canada
I seriously considered the Street Triple R, having owned the RS 4 years ago. Two things put me off though: the old-fashioned dash and the weird graphics they've just put on the 2021 model. I know these are not vital criteria, but they just put me off a bit.
I completely get your point about having covered the Trident from every angle and my guess is your new bike will be the Yamaha MT-09 SP, as I may be wrong but get the impression that you miss releasing your inner hooligan now and again lol.
Haha, you're right. I did consider the Speed Triple, which I loved, but I would be releasing the inner hooligan a bit too often with a bike like that. The MT09 is closer to the mark, but you're not quite there :)
Sad that you sold it but, I understand. If I had a motorcycle channel that was doing as well as yours, I would use the ad proceeds to keep the bike rotation going. I plan to keep my Trident for awhile. My wife is talking about getting a motorcycle license. If she does, she will get the trident and I will upgrade. If not, I may upgrade to something with a little more power in a few years. Cheers.
Interesting. I would definitely have kept the Trident if I didn't have this channel to maintain. I think/hope you will approve of the replacement, coming in 4 weeks :)
Another subscriber said Triumph will only look at TH-camrs with 30k+ subscribers. The Tracer 9 did tickle my fancy, until I saw MCN’s & Bennetts’ reviews recently😐
If looking for content, heart appeal, practicality and lovelyness, coupled with drama and lots of unexpected happenings, it has to be a Moto Guzzi! Warranty period only of course.
I agree with your choice. I love my trident and your video helped my choice. if I were in your shoes though and needed more content for a channel I would sell it too.
Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. Some viewers seem put out by the fact that I have sold it, but I have to move on. I continue to think the Trident is the best bike for under €10-12K :)
You did an excellent job on the Trident, and I'm sorry to see it off. I guess I'll have to pick-up where you left off then, and get some of your viewers to my channel 😁😁👍 P.S. loving the speed twin material 💪💣
Very nice way of presenting your idea and good luck for your next project; mmm you are thinking about the Royal Enfield!!?? this bike is pure character or the new speed twin!!! ???…I am curious now 🧐😅 cheers 🍻
As usual thank you for the video. I would like to hear your thoughts on the new Yamaha T9 GT, but you already had the similar BMW 900 and it would not fit in the van.. Probably you don't need that kind of bike. Do you regularly use the N125 or do you use Via do Infante ? I guess a light off road or dual sport that you can base on the van and explore for "that" good photo? You also have that unfinished thing with the Rocket.. Anyway I hope you reveal it soon. And happy that you can get some financial return.
Thanks :) You're right about the Rocket - I would love one in my garage, but I can't afford one, and it would crush the van, lol. The Tracer 9GT looked good, but I have seen two quite critical reviews on it recently. I ordered the new bike this afternoon and apparently it will be here in about a month, so stay tuned :)
Probably selling my T660 this Spring/Summer and buying a brand new Honda CBR650R. The T660 is a nice bike and fun to ride, yet limited. Always loved the Honda in-line 4 cylinder so I think it is time for a change.
I understand the need for a change and I agree that you quickly arrive at the T660's limits. I like the CBR, but I'm not sure it's a big enough jump up from the Trident??
I did a comparison video of the 650R shortly after I got the Trident and concluded the Honda wasn't quite as good for me as the Triumph. So no, keep guessing :)
I'm predicting the next bike unveiling will be a royal enfield meteor 350, or something similar. You'll enjoy this for a few months before trading it in for a ducati diavel.
If you remember I have the Rocket 3 GT and a matt black Trident. The bike I was considering instead of the Trident was the Indian Scout. You seem to have similar tastes so I go with the Scout. More horse power, lower seat and more comfortable riding position. It has a proper seat and suspension. A lot more maneuverable then the Rocket. More suited to your little island getaway. 😁
@@RocketMan_Moto my Triumph dealer just added Indian to go along with BMW and Ducati. So I am spoilt. I really like my Rocket. Very comfortable and is pretty maneuverable when you get used to it. It likes to gently cruise around, but the beast can easily be unleashed. The only drawback is the key fob. The button is not protected so you don't want to put it in uoir trouser pocket, because it will turn off and have you wondering whether you have lost it. The best addition was the American Werks exhaust. Dropping 15 kilos and sounds amazing. The factory exhaust does not match the power contained within when unleashed.
I don't see you doing a Stuart Fillingham, and getting an RE. You do say sometimes 80 BHP isn't enough. REs don't do that much power. You were very gushing about the new Speed Triple 1200, but ageing bones, and cost, I'm not too sure, it's possible ... You've had a Street Triple R, so I don't guess you'll be back there again ... Goldwing, I don't guess you're going to do a TMF ! (and The Rocket was too big ...) You do seem to like Triumph's, and the Rocket did appeal to you at one point, but that's a long shot. However there is a slightly new Speed Twin on the horizon, where they've tweaked some of the first generation's issues away. It does seem to have the power level you like, and my 2019 is pretty comfortable for ageing bones ( I'm ageing too !). You seemed to like the retro looks of the Trident. Plus the 2021 Speed Twin is not quite ready for delivery yet. September sounds about right . They'll be a lot of youtube interest on the Speed Twin 2021. So I reckon in order of likelyhood, the new bike is : 1) Speed Twin 2021 2) Speed Triple 1200 RS (I was going to put down Rocket as number 3, but I deleted that !)
@@RocketMan_Moto Thanks :) I possibly spend too much time watching biker youtuber's content, and not enough riding my pair. On which note , I should really get one of them out of the bike shed !
Great to hear your channel is getting traction. I would ditch the rocket, as I see it more being a show-off bike rather than an everyday one, it also looks like a proper nightmare to navigate within a packed urban environment on it. The goldwing seems like a really steady two-wheeled couch for long distance touring with it's highly praised smooth engine and it would probably be the absolute favorite for Mrs. RocketLady to tag along; t I don't know if that's what you are going for - it is also a mammoth of a motorcycle for my modest proportions :) Royal Enfield have been getting seemingly better in the last few years and are light both on the scale and bank account, so I'd go there, but none of their current offering covers your alleged need for 80/100+ bhp and the devaluation rate on these brands is typically more punishing. Either way I'll surely enjoy watching the content any of those motorcycles enables you to produce. Cheers
Thanks, Sebastiao :) I agree on the Rocket: once the novelty wears off... RE are a bit underpowered... I ordered this afternoon and the new bike should be here in a month, so stay tuned :)
@@RocketMan_Moto I wanted to try the 700cc, but it seemed a bit big for me. TheMissendenFlyer has a great review on the 900cc, of course it can't convey the fit and finish as it is a bit of a personal feeling metric, I hated the silly-looking dash on it
I’m thinking of selling my trident for the new speed twin. The old one was good but a bit lacking on the suspension , the new one should be better. As for what you are going to buy next, I think it will be something totally different. How about a zero! Regards Simon
Speed Triple I'm guessing! Thanks for a continually excellent channel... I'm taking my Trident in for first service this week and am "chuffed" at the prospect of going over 5k on the tach :) Cheers!
I'm a bit late to this video, but as an RE and a BMW owner, I don't think you want t go down either of those paths, My pic is an MT09 or even a 1200 Speed triple - now that would excite one!! Perhaps a second hand Super Duke or a Monster... he wants excitement and spirit, let him choose what he wants! We will wait eagerly! Perhaps he has to rein in his aspirations due to finance considerations especially if he is buying new... something safe - but that's not Rocketman!
Something interesting i hope, You have done Triumph, and knowing the Algarve and its roads, i would suggest a sports tourer, comfortable and fun, I have the Tracer 9GT and it is fantastic

I agree that Hondas are always a ‘safe bet’. I have had 4 and still have a Vision scooter. However, I didn’t like the CB650R very much.
I await with bated breath your new bike, I like the way you finished the episode leaving us hanging! Reminds me of the old Batman series.
Haha, thanks David :) I'm pretty sure (hope!) you're going to approve of my next bike. Ordered a couple of days ago, it should be here in about a month, so not too long to wait :)
@@RocketMan_Moto excellent mate🤙
Stay tuned :)
I enjoyed the trident content. Best of luck with your channel/content.
Thank you, Bob. Stick around, you may well approve of the replacement bike I ordered today. Apparently it will be here in about a month :)
As a salesman, I love the maths equation in your cost justification, good skills :)
Haha, I wonder how many men attempt similar reasoning on their other halves? :)
@@RocketMan_Moto I would think the majority, but obviously not me ( just in case the wife sees this :)
Haha😂
Whenever my misses has a go at me for changing bikes too often I mention your name, the longest bike I have owned and still own is my Triumph Bonnieville T120 brought that in 2018, then last April brought a BMW gs1250, and also in April I ordered a Honda crf300l as I like going off-road that should arrive in August, I have tried to convince myself that’s it no more, but you don’t help my friend, I love your work and look forward to what’s coming.
Haha, sorry about that, Jack. I think you will definitely approve of the next bike. Ordered this afternoon, delivery in about 4 weeks😊
Dan
I certainly relate to your style of video and enjoy them all. Best of all, no annoying background music, pushing merch or begging for likes & subs :)
NICE BACKGROUND? NICE??? During winter time I was so envious. Please keep going, I enjoy your relaxed way of commenting.
Thank you, Michael :)
Speed Twin 2021?
Ahhhh... ;)
It's a very tempting package now they've jazzed up the front end ;)
I have had several Triumphs and never had a problem like that, BUT of course, I sell them well before the warranty expires :)
Everyone says that the throttle is a bit "slow" which means that as you roll the throttle it takes some time for the motor to accelerate. So there is a slight delay. You know what i mean?
Many people have commented on this, but I can't say I noticed much of a problem on mine.
@@RocketMan_Moto Okay thank you, thats reliefing. Now I know for sure i have to test it before buying
I think once you have ridden it, you will be convinced :)
Greetings from Denmark
Thank you. Well, I ordered the replacement this afternoon and the dealer told me it could be here in a month, so not too long to wait. I hope you are enjoying your Trident, it's a fabulous machine :)
Watching from the Philippines 🇵🇭. New sub here 👋 great content.
Thanks :)
Well you’re an interesting gentlemen, that’s for sure. I’ll be watching for your next review and hopefully more of that amazing country!
Thanks, Marty. I aim to please... or at least entertain :)
was litterally watching these videos earlier and got a notification you had released this video
Haha, sorry😊
I'm trying to decide between the Trident, XSR 700, MT07 and (even though quite different) the Rebel 1100. How would you compare the reliability, maintenance cost vs ride comfort.
Tbh, I’d probably go for the Hornet now. It’s the most modern and most fun to ride, and very good in terms of maintenance & reliability. If you can live with the uninspiring looks🤔 I like the idea if the Rebel 1100, but I’m not a fan of the engine or DCT gearbox.
I get it. You like trying different bikes and I love that about you. Your changes do keep us coming back for more so the formula works. #Content
Good to hear :)
I'm in Albufeira, so maybe we could meet up in the autumn?
@@RocketMan_Moto yes, look forward to it. Both my wife and I ride, she’s just got a Benelli TRK 251 as well. 👍
No video about a Trident on the track?
Not really my thing :)
Thanks, Marty. I swapped for a Speed Twin :)
I,m in my 50s and have had a St twin, from New for 3yrs. It's been a great, well built and torquey bike. But I,ve got use to its performance now and just fancy a change. So, about to do the exact opposite of yourself. 🤓And get a trident.
Maybe that new Speed Twin you weren't allowed to ride this last week or two?
Ahhh... ;)
Very tempting bike now they've jazzed up the front end :)
Downsizing like Stuart Fillingham? He has either four or five bikes in his shed. I was surprised at the sale of the Trident, but look forward to the reviews on the new bike(s).
Thanks, Jeffrey. I am proud to confirm that, contrary to the current trend, I am UPsizing by a significant amount😊
Anyone have riden SV650 and this Trident? which is the better and more fun bike?
I believe you'd be limited to Honda, but I'd like to see how you would feel about a DCT equipped bike.
I did think about the new Rebel 1100 with the DCT 'box, but I don't think it would really suit my riding style :)
@@RocketMan_Moto yes and indeed looks as rebellious as Stephen Fry in a bandana!

Still a bit of riding season left? I thought in Algarve it would be all-year riding season, was I wrong?
Well, yes it is all year round here, but I didn't want to rub it in for those watching in colder climes :)

TMF used to be good but not anymore.
Too long and too greedy for subs.

Could you get a Honda NC750X with a 6 speed to review. Would love to hear your opinion of it.
The guys at soulfulbikes have an NC750X, but I didn't have time to try it last week.
@@rtg8point858 👍 my yam xsr 900 was the same, a bike must have that certain thing about it to fully enjoy it..
How do you know it's a Speed... oh wait, 'steed'. Sorry... :)
@@RocketMan_Moto you've let the cat outta the bag now 😏😁
Haha :)
The Trident is a great way to build up to a Speed Twin. Enjoy😊
We need triumph tuesdays. A good brand/bike is worth seeing regularly.
I don't think you will be disappointed, then ;) P.S. I like the moniker!
Well, I tried Triumph Trident but my local dealer couldn't promise delivery of a bike sooner than in September. So I tried new Yamaha MT-09 2021 and immediatelly fell in love and ordered. I think such of bike would suits you...!!! M.
The MT09 certainly has a fabulous engine ;)
Remember commentnng when you first uploaded after you bought. When all there was to watch were those strange unboxing videos. Love your channel. Triumph rally pro an option for you?
I did think of the Tiger, but it's a bit pricey and too tall to fit in my van :)
You’re amazingly honest.. 👍🏻👍🏻
Try to be😊
Go on then I'll have a shot/guess.
You are blessed with some fantastic riding roads in the Algarve would be great on a Monster, Cheers RM.
Interesting! I went the other way, sort of... Enjoy your F900R :)
lets hope your tactic works out. wishing you all the best
Thank you :)
Yamaha tenere next I think. Hopefully a good size for you and with the power the cb500f was lacking:)
I did like the Ténéré 700 when I rode it a year or so ago... who knows? ;)
The Tenere is probably more off road focussed than RM requires.
Exactly, too off-road for my needs down here :)
@@RocketMan_Moto I had old XT600 and XT660Z Tenere. Both were one of most universal bikes among c.a. 30 others I had within last 30 years.
I never rode those, but I have heard they were great bikes :)
How long did it take you to adapt to riding/driving on the 'other' side of the road?
Lol, I lived in France for 30 years before moving down here, so I’m used to it😊
And it shows, you look very comfortable in doing it.@@RocketMan_Moto
Thanks. The only problem now is when I return to the UK :)
It would be nice to see some vlogs ? Maybe show us your local town? That way you wouldn't need to soley rely on the bike for content
I tried that with the video of my van conversion but it didn’t do very well😬
@@RocketMan_Moto I would love to see some vlogs, I'm pretty sure most of us would. Van conversion was probably off topic I guess 🤷
Maybe, although people did ask for it in the comments
What’s next?
That's the big question. I ordered my next bike yesterday, delivery in about 4 weeks :)
Ducati Monster?
I did consider it, but it's too thin and weirdly high off the ground...
Spookily I cancelled my Trident due to delays etc and ordered the new Monster. I pick it up Friday 👍🏻
It's sportier than the Trident for sure. Did you test one before pulling the trigger?
@@RocketMan_Moto I did. Did about 120 miles on all types of roads - loved it. I miss my old Hypermotard 1100S but the new ones are far too tall. It’s not as bonkers as a Street Triple RS and not as sedate as the Trident. In truth the Street is a better bike but I enjoy the L twin of the Monster and it makes me smile - for me it’s just got more fun factor.
I get that👍
Go for the Rocket!

Cheers and all the best for which ever one it is.
You mean the new one with the Brembo M50 brakes that I can never resist?😉
@@RocketMan_Moto Oh yes, exactly that one 😊

Enough said I think 😊
Look forward to your delivery and riding experience.

Haha, like it :)
@@RocketMan_Moto one sort of afterthought 😊
I don’t like the black end caps at the end of the silencers at all.
Thanks. You know I'm a sucker for massive brakes ;)
They say diversity is the spice of life. Enjoy your new Speed Triple. Thanks for all your efforts.
Thank you. Although you slightly off with the replacement😊
Tuono 660? or is that too similar?
Great bike - apparently, I haven't tried one - but it is a bit too similar to the Trident and crucially there's no dealer in the Algarve :(
Hmmm I'm gonna guess the latest model Triumph Speed Twin! Am I close? 🤔
Extremely :)
@@RocketMan_Moto haha my thinking was it has around 100hp, Brembo brakes, good suspension, Triumph quality all for around £11k... I think I just talked myself into maybe getting one 😂
They are very tempting now that they've jazzed up the front end a bit. Those ancient looking forks and rubber gaiter were terrible. Get one :)
I'd be interested in your views of the new monster some day.
I need to ride it, but tbh I have a problem with the way it looks: it's too slim and there's too much space under the engine. Also, the headlight DRL shape reminds me of a toilet seat that's melted slightly in the sun :)
It’s a shame having to keep your channel varied means having to let go of one of the best bikes you’ve owned.
I agree, but unfortunately I can't keep all the bikes I buy :)
Getting a T7 and going for a ride with "Off Road Off Course" who is another youtube channel based in Portugal?
A great bike that I reviewed a couple of years ago, but a bit too off-road focussed for my needs now :)
@@RocketMan_Moto Hmm based on your variety it is hard to guess so I will assume it is the Harley Pan America :)
Apparently a very good bike, but I can't get past that weird front end styling :)
How about the mt 09 as the next bike
I did consider/test it, but I can't get past the looks and the fit & finish isn't brilliant. Fabulous engine, though :)
Is it so difficult to get bikes for review down there like TMF in England? Maybe you have to have more subs?
However, for me tracer 9 maybe?
Another subscriber said Triumph will only look at TH-camrs with 30k+ subscribers. The Tracer 9 did tickle my fancy, until I saw MCN’s & Bennetts’ reviews recently😐
If looking for content, heart appeal, practicality and lovelyness, coupled with drama and lots of unexpected happenings, it has to be a Moto Guzzi! Warranty period only of course.
Haha, yes good idea. Not sure if there's a dealer here in the Algarve, though :)
I guess I'll have to pick-up where you left off then, and get some of your viewers to my channel 😁😁👍
P.S. loving the speed twin material 💪💣
Thanks. All the best with your channel👍
What about a nice Ducati V2 Multistrada or Street fighter for a change of pace. 🤔🙂

Interesting) im here from your rocket order, so let’s continue )
I love the Rocket, but it's a lot of money :(
As usual thank you for the video.
@@RocketMan_Moto damn. That's my prediction out the window then!

The arch rival, the CB650R perhaps?
I did a comparison video of the 650R shortly after I got the Trident and concluded the Honda wasn't quite as good for me as the Triumph. So no, keep guessing :)

Haha, that does sound like the sort of thing I would do :)
@@RocketMan_Moto :-)
If you remember I have the Rocket 3 GT and a matt black Trident. The bike I was considering instead of the Trident was the Indian Scout. You seem to have similar tastes so I go with the Scout. More horse power, lower seat and more comfortable riding position. It has a proper seat and suspension. A lot more maneuverable then the Rocket. More suited to your little island getaway. 😁
The Scout looks great but unfortunately there's no dealer down here, so I'd be a bit stuck. How do you like your Rocket?
I would love to have a Rocket in my garage, if I could afford one. A fabulous swan song to the petrol age :)
T120 or GSX-S1000?
The first one is closer ;)
@@RocketMan_Moto Speedmaster then!
Getting warmer... I think😊
RE twin... still on the 650, more relaxed and some more cargo capacity. Better for everyday ride without having to carry a backpack.
It's certainly a versatile bike and excellent value :)
(and The Rocket was too big ...)
You do seem to like Triumph's, and the Rocket did appeal to you at one point, but that's a long shot.
So I reckon in order of likelyhood, the new bike is :
1) Speed Twin 2021
2) Speed Triple 1200 RS
(I was going to put down Rocket as number 3, but I deleted that !)
Some impressive powers of deduction on display here, Karlos ;-)
@@RocketMan_Moto
Thanks :)
I possibly spend too much time watching biker youtuber's content, and not enough riding my pair. On which note , I should really get one of them out of the bike shed !
Haha, I think were all guilty of that at times. TH-cam kept me sane during the lockdowns, though👍
Love to see you riding a Tiger 900 , a Tracer 9 , or a Tenere 700 (The bikes I'm considering). Have fun with whatever you choose. =)
Thanks! You might be disappointed; I did consider all of those bikes, but I have gone less adventure :)
Tiger 900 ?
Not too far off, bit tall for my van, though...
RocketLady to tag along; t I don't know if that's what you are going for - it is also a mammoth of a motorcycle for my modest proportions :)
Royal Enfield have been getting seemingly better in the last few years and are light both on the scale and bank account, so I'd go there, but none of their current offering covers your alleged need for 80/100+ bhp and the devaluation rate on these brands is typically more punishing.
@@RocketMan_Moto Tracer 900?
I did consider it, but the fit & finish..? :(
@@RocketMan_Moto I wanted to try the 700cc, but it seemed a bit big for me.
I like your reasoning, Simon ;)
Ahh... the Zero. And with the Big Bore kit, it's smashing! :-)
Really, though, are there any performance mods out for that thing?
I'm sure electric bikes will be great... in another 5 years or so, but they're not for me yet.
I just subbed to your channel and enjoy it thanks!
Awesome, thank you!
Speed Triple I'm guessing! Thanks for a continually excellent channel... I'm taking my Trident in for first service this week and am "chuffed" at the prospect of going over 5k on the tach :) Cheers!
Ah yes, being able to rev above 5000 transforms the riding experience. Almost like a different bike! I would love the Speed Triple, but €€€ :(
I'm a bit late to this video, but as an RE and a BMW owner, I don't think you want t go down either of those paths, My pic is an MT09 or even a 1200 Speed triple - now that would excite one!! Perhaps a second hand Super Duke or a Monster... he wants excitement and spirit, let him choose what he wants! We will wait eagerly! Perhaps he has to rein in his aspirations due to finance considerations especially if he is buying new... something safe - but that's not Rocketman!
Haha, some close guesses there, but you're not quite on the ball. Fear not, the new bike should be here in a couple of weeks :)
Something interesting i hope, You have done Triumph, and knowing the Algarve and its roads, i would suggest a sports tourer, comfortable and fun, I have the Tracer 9GT and it is fantastic
I was seriously considering the 9GT, until I saw a couple of quite critical reviews by MCN and Bennetts a few days ago...
It's the Speed Twin next isn't it. Mo powa baby.. or Speed Triple. I remember you were quite fond of that bike from your ride impression.
I wish I could have stretched to the Speed Triple...😉
Man sells new-ish bike and buys new bike. No justification needed. Everyone else looks on in envy 👍
Lol, thanks, Danny. I ordered the new bike this afternoon and apparently it will be here in about a month :)
@@RocketMan_Moto not even a hint of which manufacturer?
Let’s just say I don’t think it will come as a massive surprise 😉
