There are 2 additional things that you can do try and rid the code. FIRST is to take a RUBBER mallet and hit the pre-charge pump with medium force a few times. SECOND, find an open dirt road and get up to about 50mph and SLAM on the brakes...do this about 5 times. Sometimes the components in the pump can get stuck and doing this method can free it up. This 2 step method was recommended by one of, if not the most knowledgeable and respected Import Mechanics in North/South Carolina.
You’re a life saver!! I thought I was gonna hafta pay $1600 to replace the ABS module on my 2000 X5 and it really wasn’t even gonna be worth it since the car is so old. I already spent $190 getting the RR speed sensor replaced a few days ago and that didn’t clear my code 50 or the trifecta lights and my speedometer and odometer still don’t work. My mechanic told me that my issue was the ABS module not the speed sensor when I picked up my car. I wish I would have done more research before wasting my money on the speed sensor.
Was that real be a reference as in 5A for ABS short circuit so would that indicate that my ABS is bad and needs to be replaced cuz just as last night or yesterday all my lights lit up as well as my speedometer stopped working but today I got in the car now it works after I try to reset it
Just a quick question !, is it ok to drive the car when the module is disconnected as it doesn't seem to affect the brakes when the plug is pulled out stops the limp mode which makes the car slow to pull away or am i totally wrong !
how to fix the dsc lights on 2003 bmw 525i e39? I replaced the modulator the abs lights and brake lights are gone, but I still have the dsc light on, how to fix it?
+Fix The Bimmer Thanks for getting back to me. Can you send me the link to the seller on ebay? I havn't been able to find a good seller who does this. I appreciate it
BIMMER ZEIT hey I have the same problem with my bmw. I was wondering how would I find someone to rebuild my module on ebay how did you do it can you please help me. thanks.
You didn't drive the car after you installed the fixed sensor, if it's really fixed, the lights won't light up past the 20/25mph mark, but if it's not really fixed then the lights will light up after you start to drive it, . . .can you please confirm this?
I only have DSC lights on when driving 30+ MPH -- its random but it will show up. Should I replace my DSC or maybe the wheel sensor is faulty? Yeah, Ill need a separate ODB scanner for this job.
Super video !!! My 630i got a problem i cant get into the obd2 so it could be the abs module DSC.. ? Because they fixed the ecu that's fixt and reprogramed but STILL NO COMMUNICATION ! I think that's the problem ?
What scan tool are you using on the obdii port? Check if one of the pins bent by accident. Very easy to do, I’ve done it. Will result in no communication error on the scan tool.
Thank you fore you re ansering ! The obd is ok because it can get to other sercuits onley not the abs dsc and motormanagement system , i got it wrong it does not say no communication it say not ditactid 😉 .. but why can it not go in and look .. before it was fine and had no problem to go in 😔
Gr8 video. I have an 02 325i. The ABS and DSC lights comes on and goes off. Comes on and after a week goes off, maybe a day or two comes on again. Brake pedel feels a little hard to stop. What do you think the problem is? Thanx.
Buenos días tengo un Bmw e60 530i 2006 cuando prendo el carro todo bien y de k le pongo la mano al volante prende la luz de abs y el tranquilo amarillo
if I press the dsc button theres no response with the light. I feel as if when I drive my brakes tend to start slowing down the car when ever it wants. I know this because when I feel it ive pulled over and my brakes at smoking. I clean my wheels and the rear rims are always dirty with brake dust. if you can kindly advise me of this issue. thank you
When there is a fault the DSC light will stay on as you describe. I don't think your dusty wheels are related to the DSC issue, but can't diagnose over the internet. I would start with having that module rebuilt from an eBay vendor and having the shop your car is at inspect your brake components for wear.
I have the same issue with my E39, only DSC light is stuck on and had the code 88 pre charge pump failure. Do you know where is the pre charge pump located?
Please help, i had all three lights on I sent the module for rebuild and then when I got a back as soon as I installed it I started hearing ticking noise coming from the precharge pump and it won't go away even when I drove the car and everything so I have it disconnected now, and all lights are still on
I've read in several other forums that you have to bring your car to a dealer to get your rebuilt ABS module reprogrammed. The module is VIN specific and needs to be program to your car.
hey Kevin, did the shop who rebuilt your ABS unit tell you they found a fault in the unit? They should be able to tell you 1. they found a fault and 2. it was repairable. Not all module issues can be repaired with the rebuild service. Sometimes the car will require a brand new module. You would also need to verify that the precharge pump itself is functioning. Did you ever resolve your issue?
I haven't heard of this personally, but there are many variables that can cause your issue. You should start by scanning the car's OBDII port with a tool capable of getting transmission trouble codes and start there. This is the tool I use: th-cam.com/video/yxuWEJx1GiE/w-d-xo.html
@@berniesamuels9923 Bernie let me know what codes you find once you scan the car. In many cases the $60 tool will be less than the diagnostic fee charged by a repair shop. In a pinch you can stop by AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts stores, I believe they can scan the car for you for free to retrieve codes. I'm not sure if they can get transmission codes though, probably just generic engine codes.
The X5 has the same issues but you really need to start by scanning your car to find the ABS trouble codes. I'll have a new video soon about scanning with an inexpensive scan tool so you can avoid paying a shop a diagnostic scan fee
where was the diagnosis? you guessed that it was more likely the abs module and got that repaired..guessing which of the two scenarios is more likely was not a diagnosis..
yes you can, but a plethora of side affects occur: odometer and speedo won't work (mileage won't be tracked), parking sensor stays on (if you have one), mpg as well as miles left on tank and gas levels are all erratic, shift points in transmission will occasionally be different/bad, obviously you won't have ABS and traction control working .
Can you tell us where to send the module to be fixed. I have the same problem on my 328 -2000. The light goes on by it self. Thank you so much. Great video.

hey guy I just purchaced a 2002 530i with a trouble code88 like the one you have on your video. you mentioned of places that will repair them for $100 can you give me a referral or where you had yours repaired. the local bmw shop said the prepump needs to be replaced. so I showed them your video. their interested in the out come. thank you for your help. Carlos, just search "BMW ABS module repair" on eBay and choose a vendor. Send your ABS out to them. It's very common, and worth a shot. Chances of actual pump being bad is slim.
I have the same problems abs brake dsc on ... so I get the use one from eBay $60 and one special obd reprogram $200 from eBay... and way to go keep bm run forever.....

3rd method is to drive to a quiet rock quarry and toss the car over the side .. ....😮

I'm not impressed with how they've resealed your module.
They've apparently more than doubled their price since this video was made....
I saw that too. Still a good value. Prices going up like everything else!!
you could repaired it your self
just take out the cover and solder some disconnected points
soldering joints are extremely small inside those modules.. don't recommend doing it yourself if your not know exactly what you're up to
