  • The Cartune Company (2003) Ltd in New Zealand does 1uz and 3uz conversions / parts and wiring. We have been working on UZ Toyota V8 engines since 2004 when we did our own Hiace van to transport dirtbikes around NZ. Since then we have swapped to doing mainly just Lexus V8 work from a family owned farm hidden away in our paradise , surrounded by the NZ native bush. We sell parts and simple to follow wiring instructions for the 1uzfe engines. For enquiries email info@thecartunecompany.co.nz Take Care. Kelvin

Normally when you push back and there's leakage it's good providing you lube your pin. On this occasion with twisting your pin with the fluid provided and being stiffer it's been a good result

Plenty of lube is important, enough to make it sticky. Stiff pins make insertion easier too.

I want to get a hilux as my first car but 4WD’s are hard to get because no overseas travel so everyone is getting 4WD’s but I did find some nice 2x4’s

We have lots of 4x4 here. They are very popular. Hopefully you find a suitable vehicle for yourself. Cheers Kelvin

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what’s the point of the electric 4wd selector if you still have to get out to switch the hubs?

So in the factory surf that the electric 4x4 engagement actuator they had an auto engagement system on the front independent front diff known as ADD, or auto differential disconnect. As this vehicle had a weak gearbox to start with it had a swap with the stronger gearbox, but retained the manual hubs as its running a solid front diff. Hopefully this make sense. Cheers Kelvin

Another example of a simple mistake and simple solution. Kelvin is there anything you do apart from a a full standalone that prevents the noticeable drop in performance when the 1UZ's get warmed up (operating temp) ? My only fault is when cold the engine flies like a bat out of hell, when at operating temp it loses a fair wack. Not much on engine that hasn't been checked, replaced or serviced. Maybe that's just how they are ??

Yep. It was funny that the part of the body the ignitors was bolted to fell away when bolt was removed. 1uz normally dont drop noticable amounts of power when hot.
Thats not how they are. There is an issue there somewhere. I connect my scan tool and start looking and start checking. often its something simple as well thats been overlooked. cheers

@@CartuneNZ Unfortunately when my car was wired up they didn't add the round plug for diagnostics. Maybe this is something I can purchase from you and add into the loom ?

Yes. They are able to be added. I may even have a couple spare here atm.
