    Love to see the ford 10sp off the ranger pulled apart. Mine blew up after 14 thousand ks. Towing the van back from QLD on a cold day. Going down a hill into a township near Wellington it shifted up to 10th gear and all of a sudden started free reving and dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Nothing worse than being stuck in 10th gear.

    I'd like a rundown on the common issues with the 2010 - 2.5lt/5spd Transmission on the Tritons. Mine was doing some funky sh*t last time I was on Fraser in the soft sand.. would not gear down or up (manually) and was just a dog. I had the transmision serviced about 10k ago (it has 215k on the car) I have had it since 70k and I've always pride myself on mechanically looking after my cars but this was wierd.
    Anyways. Great to see another video come out. Take it easy Rocket

      If it happens again drop it back into auto mode and then back to manual and it normally resets it's self, however the problem was that you were running the transmission hot and this is part of it self preservation mode. Fit an oil cooler and you should see this problem disappear. It doesn't code when this happens as well. I had the MN Triton and it is a common problem. Check this link out:
      automatictransmission.com.au/select-your-vehicle/mitsubishi/triton/mn-2-5l-turbo-diesel-5-speed-auto/?make=Mitsubishi&model=Triton&series=MN%20-%202.5L%20Turbo%20Diesel%20with%205%20Speed%20Auto

    • @WholesaleAutomatics
      @WholesaleAutomatics  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Mostly torque convertor and the Dmax doesn't seem to have this problem, just add a cooler in and the Dmax 4 speed is fairly good all round.

    Do / have you seen many failures of the 5sp Jatco in the early Gen 4 pajeros? are there things to look out for? i know they went to the aisen (?) after about 2009, im guessing for " some" reason 🤷‍♂
    cheers again!🍻

    • @jasonfields2793
      @jasonfields2793 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They can have an issue where one of the pins can come loose and eat the transmission but for the most part they Seam reliable

    • @WholesaleAutomatics
      @WholesaleAutomatics  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The early Pajeros used to have two major problem, lock-up shudder where the backing plate of the torque convertor would warp and fry the lock-up clutch and the planetaries letting go big time. Both were very common.

    after some advice.I have 2018 Toyota Fortuner with 6spd auto .Comimg up to 100 000 k.I do quite a lot of 4wd mostly easy stuff,but i do use manual mode quite a bit shifting up and down the gears in low range to modulate speed on the hills. I try to be gentle in that i wont just slam it down a gear,i will brake as i change down to avoid shocks in the driveline. Should i get the oil changed or a flush? I have heard NOT to flush it.
    Cheers from NZ

    Hi guys great video I was just looking through your videos earlier today for a hilux 4 speed auto repair job
    How do you find those 4 speed auto boxes are they reasonably reliable
    I’ve got one and I’m doing a lot of towing and the Ute itself has a tray and canopy camping setup so the Ute is 3ton plus and I’m towing 3plus ton probably going to upgrade to a bigger vehicle soon but I’m looking at a trans cooler plus a nomad valve body what are your thoughts on that
    Is that little box strong enough to handle that or should I really think about upgrading to a bigger vehicle I’m in Nz so doing a lot of hill work the Ute has been remapped and has had a few mods done it tows ok but it knows the van is there
    Cheers

      Regardless of if you are towing or not a Wholesale Automatics oil cooler is must have and if you are towing then I highly recommend the Nomad Valve Body. Here is a web link to what is available for your 4 speed Hilux, We have page for the 1KD and a separate page for the 1KZ:

    After blowing up a VN SS auto 3 times and once in a VP Clubsport I have been a hardcore manual gearbox supporter since. I have recently purchased a 2024 Hilux that comes with an automatic gearbox. What can I do to improve its reliability as I’m sure you can understand my concerns from past experiences?
