Honestly this is one of the greatest depictions of Mimir I've ever seen. The personality? Spot on. Same with the voice. I feel like they've really done Him justice!
Nonsense! Kratos kept all is inventory in his underwear. They do house massive balls of rage and courage afterall. Joking aside, hammer space is is always hilarious in any game. I busted out in ludicrous laughter when watching the Walking Dead game and character just animates sticking a 4x4 in his back pocket.
The mixing of the mythologies actually confuses me. Like don't they have different creation myths and different theories about the nature of the universe? Which one takes priority?
@@sireregor6633 but that's kind of my point. The Greek stories of their gods and the titans weren't creation myths of Greece, they were stories about how the entire universe and all of reality were created. Likewise the Norse mythology of their gods, the world tree, the different realms and Ragnarok weren't restricted to Norway. They were stories about the creation of all reality and all worlds and the destruction of all people (not just Norwegians).
8Rincewind there is a theory and this is probably true where there is other earths for example midgard is a diferent earth that kratos comes from so the other earth
@@sireregor6633 to answer your first question: according to the novel kratos confess that he was brought by wolfs from greece to midgard by a mysterious woman which she was fey. so fey summon kratos. to answer your 2 question they knew about each other but probably to protect each other they probably agree to not interfere this proves it more since tyr was able to travel to many worlds in the game and mimir was friend of tyr so is very likely he learn about this things
This game manages to do something so many sources of media, from film to games fail to do. Introduce a character, catch your attention and keep you intrigued from the start, and in an extremely short amount of time manages to make you FEEL for the character, his swap from being a bit of a goof and cheerful to dead serious at 2:57, his tone, his facial expressions, his cadence, everything is fucking spectacular. And this scene is just one example of the many times this game manages to pull off fantastic story telling, pulling in it's audience and keeping them close. For me personally, I haven't been able to sit down and really play a game and have it retain 100% of my attention since I was a little kid. But this game, man I sat down and played until my eyes were closing on me and I had to rest, got up the next day and finished the game, I did every side quest, explored every secret, sat in the boat and listened to the games dialogue between Kratos, Mimir and Atreus always happy when another story queued up. First game I've Platinumed too, turned me into a bit of an achievement junkie. This and now Ragnarok will be games that I will always revisit, even in old age should fortune be on my side.
Mimir and the dwarves and the midgard serpent such great and funny characters even though they don't even try to be funny it would be cool to meet ratatoskr as well in the mythology he hates odin so we may get to meet ratatoskr and help us get to other realms without the bifrost ratatoskr is a funny character as well i hope to see him in the sequel m
I’d really like to see fenrir the wolf in these games feel like he will be in ragnarok cuz in Norse he’s the one that kills Odin so my wild theory comes here. Maybe we need to recruit fenrir by freeing him from the chains (maybe something similar to god of war 2 with the titans) and he can help us in ragnarok by fighting Odin? Edit:freeing him from the chains could be a similar mechanic on how u free the dragons
@@punchoponcho5238 In retrospect, the shit i said here was out of my ass and kinda just speaking my love for the myth. I didn't actually think they'd add Ratatoskr in the game and would actually be our reason for the seed travel throughout the realms or would as well be a comic relief character as I've said lmao. Glad im right.
The cinematography in this game is so good, I never noticed just as Mimir mentions "the old magic" at 2:46, the camera pans to bring the red forest into frame, where Freya is.
I love the way Kratos and Atrues both turn away when Mimir speaks of Jotunheim. It's like they're both on the same frequency for the first time. Cory Barlog has created a masterpiece.
And there it is ladies and gentlemen, this is the best thing that happened ever to gow franchise, the best piece of both the games, MIMIR. these games wouldn't have been the same without him
If you ever find yourself trusting Odin, believing he is such an endearing old man, remember that Mimir was stuck in a tree and tortured by the All-father himself everyday.
109 years of torture, that is enough time to go insane then get so bored of being insane that you turn sane again and that is a mind so powerful it's worth it's weight in gold
Mimir: I have an answer to your every questions! Kratos: You ever hear the tragedy of the Greek pantheon? Mimir:......OK, there are a few gaps in my knowledge.
2:41 i love how atreus still try to cut bonds of the tree even if mimir told them this is impossible. also, i am imagining if mimir met the head of Helios.

I just realized that the reason why Sigrun is the hardest Valkyrie might not be just because she is the leader of the Valkyries, but also because she sees Mimir's head hanging from Kratos hip, so she goes all out to kill the man who beheaded Mimir.
Honestly this is one of the greatest depictions of Mimir I've ever seen. The personality? Spot on. Same with the voice. I feel like they've really done Him justice!
if this was like the old god of war version, mimir's head would had magically disappeared in Kratos infinite pocket space
Nicolas Ceresoli its still there
Some call it ass dimension
Nonsense! Kratos kept all is inventory in his underwear. They do house massive balls of rage and courage afterall.
Joking aside, hammer space is is always hilarious in any game. I busted out in ludicrous laughter when watching the Walking Dead game and character just animates sticking a 4x4 in his back pocket.
makes sense, because speaking of hammer, how could he store that massive barbarian hammer from God of War 2
Its nice to see character from different Mythos and land coming to Midgard. We have Kratos a greek god and mimir from Celtic lands
@@sireregor6633 and not necesaryly means come from the same earth it means is far away
Crazy how this became the moment Kratos made a true friend and got each other for life
Mimir is the perfect example of how you can have a great and comedic character in a emotional and story driven plot
Mimir VA here: sad and depressing.
Mimir VA in like 2010: NANOMACHINES SON.
Realy
WHY WOULD ODIN TORTURE HIM? HE SOUNDS LIKE A CHILL DUDE THAT WOULD VISIT YOUR HOUSE SOMETIME AND PLAY SMASH BROS
Sythey lol
Upper God's are always dicks, remember Zues tortured Prometheus for centuries.
King Ramesses II Because he withheld Pandora
Probably paranoia for Ragnarok
The Pasta
That was Hepheastus, different guy but your proving my point.
3:50 pretty sure that's the only time I've heard Kratos use a contraction. Mimir really got under his skin
Fun fact: Mimir's voice actor is the same person who did Senator Armstrong
Nanomachines son
So it's a Prometheus situation all over again 🤔🤔👌🏽
That's exactly what it is. Funny how the Olympians and the Asgardians are similar in almost every myth.
John Bradshaw very similar it's crazy lol
maybe cause Scandinavians copied greeks and romans have u thought about it? i should correct my self not copied... recreated it with different manner
Zamal I mean everyone copied the Egyptians. So that dont really matter in my book. We all know something is copied tbh.
except old man has an accent and no raven eating his eyes or was it eagle?
So he spends the whole game with his face against Kratos ass, being farted on?
Fyi
Just like Kim Jung On
I mean... it’s kratos’ ass
James R watch lollipop chainsaw
God farts can heal you
I felt the pain behind Mimir’s voice 2:57
I LOVE MIMIR! His snarky side comments and sense of humor, wise words of wisdom, not to mention those legendary riddles!
"Who was in Paris?"
0:44
1:07 imagine if Kratos kept talking and said “on this mountain” the journey would have ended and everyone went home
TheHunter Of Hunters ratatoskr is a spirit animal for the bow of the boi if activated he digs out consumables for you
TheHunter Of Hunters and kinda teases you...
Boy do I have news for you
@@punchoponcho5238 In retrospect, the shit i said here was out of my ass and kinda just speaking my love for the myth.
Mimir: "Don't fuck with this ambassador!"
its kinda crazy how much Mimir has added to GoW, amazing character.
2:49 is the last time ever Mimir moves his hand
Am I the only one that noticed Mimir's eye light dying out at 4:00?
The human head can remain conscious after decapitation for up to 25 to 30 seconds
From that day forward, Atreus would have two dads. Very progressive.
Atreus looks so cute trying to cut the tree with his dagher
Mimir made this game infinitely more enjoyable. He has a storyteller's charisma
When he said “he tortures me you know” that shit low key hurt.
Kratos: I am going to cut off your head now.
Mimir: Fair enough.
Love it.
Damn it feels weird hearing child atreus
Yeah me too
Single handedly the greatest exposition machine in fiction. I actually stop my boat rides to finish mimir's stories.
Mimir be like:
Wisdom son, it hardens in response to study trauma
And there it is ladies and gentlemen, this is the best thing that happened ever to gow franchise, the best piece of both the games, MIMIR.
these games wouldn't have been the same without him
If you ever find yourself trusting Odin, believing he is such an endearing old man, remember that Mimir was stuck in a tree and tortured by the All-father himself everyday.
I love the music when he’s talking about Odin’s torture, it’s very pretty.
im not so sure about this detail but when atreus cuts the tree at 2:40, it regenerates
You know the fact that mimir, who seems so good was tortured saddens me......
Mimir * *CUT* * SCENE
I couldn't imagine the first time I played GoW that Mimir would be one of the gratest companions in all of gaming
Agreed
Nanotree, brotha. It hardens in response to physical trauma
Hmm
"I have the answers to your every questions"
Why does the son of Odin hunts us?
.......
Okay, there are a few gaps in my knowledge.
Alright see ya
109 years of torture, that is enough time to go insane then get so bored of being insane that you turn sane again and that is a mind so powerful it's worth it's weight in gold
Mimir: I have an answer to your every questions!
Kratos: You ever hear the tragedy of the Greek pantheon?
Mimir:......OK, there are a few gaps in my knowledge.
2:41 i love how atreus still try to cut bonds of the tree even if mimir told them this is impossible.
also, i am imagining if mimir met the head of Helios.
He’s just trying to see if he can do what he can and see if there was a way to help Mimir without decapitation.
"you value your privacy over your own son?"
"I am going to cut off your head now"
"Fair enough"
Kratos probably had flashbacks from prometheus when he mentioned the torture.
