I've had my platypus for over a year now & I LOVE it!! I haven't had any malfunctions yet, it shoots super smooth, & is very very accurate! GREAT purchase.
I've had a platypus for about 11 months now with about 9k rounds. Its ran perfectly and I've cleaned it probably 3 times the only thing I did to it was add a set screw in the trigger and the dawson tool less guide rod.
Ran the Platypus for about 2k rounds now and so far I have had zero issues. Runs smooth, shoots flat, AND it takes Glock mags. 100% worth it in my opinion.

The advantage of the Rock Island DS 1911 over the other options is that if you ever have to grapple with an assailant, at 48.92 ounces EMPTY and pushing close to 4 lbs. loaded, you have a pistol AND a barbell.
As the proud owner of the LFA Apollo 11, the Bul Armory EDC and the Stealth Arms Platypus I'm pleased to see you recognize them. I'd really like to know where you found the price points you mentioned on the Bul Armory and the Tisas. What you quoted is quite a bit lower than the price at which I can find them offered for sale. As far as performance, the Platypus out-performs the Bul Armory and they both leave the LFA far behind in my experience. Not knocking the Apollo 11, I really like mine and enjoy shooting it. However, it is very muzzle heavy and not nearly as well balanced as the other two pistols. All three of them are a whole lot of fun to shoot!

MAC 9DS should’ve been on the list. NO MIM parts, bull barrel, rmr footprint optic mount. They did it right. Installed an atlas trigger and it’s perfect.
I also think the MAC 9 DS should have been on the list. I also did a trigger job on it along with a holosun red dot and 5,000 rounds later it runs flawlessly. I was curious why they would mention Tisas and not acknowledg the MAC 9.

So impressed with the company I bought the MAC M1014 BREACHER 12 GA Turkinelli woorks flawless tooo lol
Absolutely. It 100% deserved to be on this list instead of the Rock island in my opinion. Its also made by Tisas (they do this werid thing where they have like 3 different brand names they make guns under).
Love my prodigy did an Atlas internals and trigger/bow swap just for longevity sake. I also put a Marvel cut in the slide and it’s as smooth as the 3k dollar Wilson combat I just tried out. Not sure where the safety issue complaints have arose from I’ve had both one issue with mine.
My first 2011 us the Tisas. It has been problem free so far. Two months later, i bought a Bul Armory EDC. Just last night, i was looking at the Apollo 11. Thats a good looking gun.
Just got a LFA and threw a Prodigy grip module on it for my wider palms. Polished it up, messed a bit with the sere spring and trigger (2.3 lbs) and have 1,800 rounds through it with no issues other than square tip 147g which is a killer of all 1911/2011. Very happy with. Wish it had an RMR cut but seems to work well with the adaptor albeit a little higher optic than my preference.
Yea....is he saying he has an RMR sized optic on his Apollo? I am loving my new full size Apollo 11 but c'mon please. We need a riser or a dovetail mounted plate and remove the rear sight to use the larger optics.
As someone who owns a staccato p, bul sas tacII, the platypus is objectively better than the staccato. The bul is my favorite, but looking at price I paid for my factory drop new feature platypus, they’re even. And out of your list, the platypus beats them all
Yeah I agree. Have a LFA and Platypus and the platypus blows it away. Tisas and MAC are often good haven't shot those. The fusion taking glock mags and the AF Romulus seem to be headed for the type of the budget price point with the platypus.
So, in your opinion, you would take the Platypus 5" over a Bul SASII 5" TAC? Because I'm between the two. I think I love the Bul, but, damn the Platypus is hard to say no to. From the reviews the Platypus looks like a tack driver. There's just something about the Bul. Price wise, the Platypus also wins. I'm so torn😢😢😢 I'd really appreciate your opinion since you have both. Thanks much.
I own The stealth Arms platypus, and the LFA Apollo 11, 4.15 in. And the Prodigy. The problem I had with the Prodigy was failure to feed not the safety. It was a disconnect that was sticking due to, to much cerakote on the disconnect causing it to stick. The platy is a top 1,2 9mm double stack. That platy eats everything I put through it. I love it more than my staccato. Wow the Apollo 11!!!! It’s now my favorite carry gun!!! I just got it 3 weeks ago and have put almost 3000 rounds through her!! Not one single issue. Great piece to own. But again that Platy is hard to beat when it uses Glock mags and doesn’t miss a beat!!!
If I remember correctly the RIA TAC Ultra Hi-cap in 45 cal. (with standard iron sights instead of fiber optic) became standard issue in the Philippine military in 2017. It's heavy but you may want to try it out, too.
I just bought a Prodigy myself, only have about 200 rounds through it so far, but it shoots like a dream. Unfortunately though, right out of the box, the safety jammed up and literally fell out of the gun, just from actuating it a few times. I was able to fix the problem, I just had to refit the safety and reinstall it. Only took about 15 mins after I figured out what the issue was. Still shouldn’t have happened with a brand new gun though.
My top 2 are Bul EDC and Platy. The Platypus is YOURS and YOURS ALONE...unless you go boring black you will have the only one like it. Both shoot like a dream and both companies support our military with discounts.
Watched this video this morning, saw the LFA in FDE at lunch, fired 500 rounds (124 and 115 grains) of reload ammo at my local range in the afternoon together with my C2 without malfunction. It's a great gun for the price considering it's less than half the price of a C2. I feel that my C2 is just 10-15% better build wise, but the shooting experience is almost the same. Will try to shoot some defensive rounds on my next range trip.
I have an Apollo 11. While it shoots great it has had some issues: 1. Light primer strikes made me have to get a Cheely extra long firing pin. The oem pin would misfire about half the rounds unless it was lubbed to the core. The new pin is not adviced for carry and I carry appendix so I don't wear this often. 2. The grip had some issues that would make the trigger heavy when I tried checkmate mags. The OEM mag was identical to the checkmate I bought but for some reason it made the trigger weight somewhere around 10lb. Armorer said the trigger lane was too large for some reason and it made it deviate whenever I used a non OEM mag. However I had attempted to use a Rock island mag prior to the issue starting so I take responsibility for that. I can confirm other grips work since I ended up with a strippled stacatto grip (cheap, too, it was a hand-me-down).
I just bought a full size Apollo 11 at the end of December. It has been working fantastic so far. I cleaned and oiled it and cycled the parts for an hour the night I got it. Then cleaned and oiled it up again before shooting the next day. It's awesome so far EXCEPT for that dang RMSc optic cut. Wold love for LFA or another company to make a riser plate for a larger optic or a dovetail mounted optic plate that replaces the rear sight.
So for all of these “2011s” are they single action/ double action? Striker fire? Hammer fire? I’m looking to buy a first handgun, and I think I’d prefer a striker fire where there isn’t a long first trigger pull then shorter subsequent pulls or something like that. Can anyone help me understand?
I have a full size Prodigy and the Tisas and I have to say, the Tisas is way better than the Prodigy. Shot it straight out of the box and ZERO problems! I even used the Prodigy mags in it and it still ran like a champ! The Tisas is way worth the money!!!!
Except his bs pricing of $1400! That Bul SASII 4.25 TAC PRO he is swinging around is $2450 (w\o a red dot). You can't touch a Bul for less than $1750 on their smallest SASII UL. I agree with you, except maybe the Platypus. But a decent build on the Platypus is going to be about $1900 (bull barrel, etc). For under a $1K 2011? The Apollo was really the best option on the list. "Entry level & budget friendly" doesn't mean they're worth it. Better to save for a better gun. $2K is really the starting point. I'm my humble opinion.
Bul armor 5’ tac comp out next year is going to be the tits! Can’t wait to see how it compares to my Staccato XC! “with their new aluminum flat trigger” sorry they sold out 10 minutes after I bought mine. @@swivel63 it was yeah they had minor issues with the safeties being mushy and a couple other minor issues. They did jump right on it and fix it. It’s a shame too because there are way better 2011’s out there better than the Tisas.

Kind of surprised no Girsan Witness or MAC 9DS listed. Should probably expand the list. More 2011 pistols are sure to come from other manufacturers. The new fad is the 2011 and will probably follow the same trajectory tat brought bot a flood of Micro 9s.

Prodigy fixed the safety I have 2 and a staccato & platypus and I find platypus to be the best so far. I have xp pro coming Glock mags
i hadn't heard of this issue. i picked mine up a little over a year ago and this is the first time i heard about it. was this an issue with the original or early runs?
@@swivel63 it was yeah they had minor issues with the safeties being mushy and a couple other minor issues. They did jump right on it and fix it. I have both comp and non 5” and both are phenomenal guns. There are a ton of Tisas lovers in here and only reason is the price. It’s a shame too because there are way better 2011’s out there better than the Tisas.
Great video. I appreciate you guys. I have a Sar CM9 first-generation that is awesome! Should check em out if you aren't aware of them. Sarsilmaz is the company. Great guns.
How is the OA 2311 not on here???
I don't even see the SAS II $1400 variant on Bul Armory's website.
It doesn’t exist, these 2 have no idea what they are talking about

I really enjoyed the video. 👍
Saturday I won a cap at Carter's Country range day in Spring, TX using the Tisas version of the 2011.
You have the Duty or Carry model? I’ve got the Duty and like it a lot. 800 rounds thru mine, only had twp ftf early on but 100% since. I put a 407k on mine. 100 yard shots on steel is easy with this thing.
Kind of surprised no Girsan Witness or MAC 9DS listed. Should probably expand the list. More 2011 pistols are sure to come from other manufacturers. The new fad is the 2011 and will probably follow the same trajectory tat brought bot a flood of Micro 9s.
My first 1911/2011 will be a platypus or kimber 2k11 just gonna wait for the kimber to get some more user feedback but those two guns are beauties.
That blue classic firearms shirt is 🔥
Mac 9 ds from tisas is going for sub $800 rn. Mine has been running like a dream
My fave would be The Platypus
Have 2 Rocks. Awesome.
The platypus is amazing. Would recommend to anyone.
I am surprised you did not mention the Girsan 2311
I've been checking out the Apollo 11 since it came out. I've been thinking about making it my into the 2011 world pistol.
Do the 2311 count in this category? If so, the OA2311 should be number one on this list.
RIA being the only ones offering theirs in 10mm is what made the decision for me.
Miss the original set
I think the MAC 9 DS should have been on the list. I did a trigger job on it along with a holosun red dot and 5,000 rounds later it runs flawlessly. I was curious why you would mention Tisas and not acknowledge the MAC 9.
I would rank the MAC 9DS above the Tisas 2011. Essentially the same gun but the MAC 9DS is aesthetically much better!!
What about apollo 11 ? I have the 4.51" barrel and love it and made in Florida
II have the Apollo 11. Tac Pro 5 and Prodigy Comp 4.25
Reach out to Tim at Stealth Arms. He'll almost certainly send you one. Maybe that can be on CFcontests sometime?
My MAC 9 DS is AWESOME
Yep yep I just said they left it out i agree and love mines
These got me at “Rock Island…made in the US” . These 2 know absolutely nothing if the 2011 market
And no the platypus is literally $2k when you customize it
Missing the incredible Fusion Firearms XP Pro and the GP Arms Forza or Patriot!
We need a af romulus video ASAP
If a firearm has a known problem it shouldn’t be on the list regardless of price. Yes I’m talking about the Prodigy.
Well did Springfield fix problem on fde ine
LFA is selling ported barrels you can just swap out now, I think $179
You should check out the XP Pro by Fusion Firearms
@@OBZ74 they are not fusion dealers so they will never promote it
The Platypus is highly customizable, but not modular.
@@TheFinalBoss405 it’s a 1911 not a 2011 that’s why
Affordable affordable just for the small price of 2 rifles
Still can’t believe Jason drives a ridgeline 😂. And solid find solid buy after telling us the issue with the SA Prod. Weak
Any in 45ACP?
How can you rank a gun you never shot?
Yeah my prodigy safety flew out too lol
Stealth arms Platypus, vudoo priest, and springfield emissary 45 4.25
The lfa can be ported by the company for $90
Yall need to check out the xp pro its better then all listed for $1100
Watch some reviewers. The company is dedicated to improving the pistol, but it has issues that even the company admits in YT videos, which I think is awesome because he is fixing the issues.
Girsan 2311 is nice as well
What about OA Defense? 2311
Borat does pistols….NIIIIICE.
😂😂😂
I picked up a live free armory apollo11 compact...so far so good. Is it as good as a 2k+ double stack 1911?...no...but does it do the job?...yup.😊
no twc9???
That's not budget at 2500.
hit up your local pawn shops they may have a few 1911s layin around around 400ish
No problem so far with 4.25 prodigy comp nearing 1k rounds so far so good no issues as of yet. Like to see what you guys think of the fusion xp pro got me looking at it next.
Check out the recent xp pro reviews. Seems like it is having the same growing pains that the Prodigy originally had about 14 months ago.
Dostum hep aynı şey Glock ve tomarla variyasyonları Ama birde Baykall Viking Bulup Deneyin derim yada Strike one deneyin
They don't make this gun anymore but para ordnance p1445 is a true double stack 45 also they made .40 and 9mm
rubber band over grip safety: one would expect a presenter of a firearms channel to know better
Are you for or against it?
@@Ryan-CF it’s dumb
They should have just put a chili grip on it which takes away the grip safety
what's the " that being said" count in gun tubers videos these days?🤔
Did Classic Firearms removed the video of comparing charging handles when firing different suppressors?
TH-cam removed it. We’ll be reuploading it soon
@ Oh okay cool!
Can't forget OA Defense. Takes p320 mags.
