When I was doing my 49 Merc 4 door, I put on a working paint job on it too. Mine was done in primer grey. And everyone called it an elephant. So I added some ghosted in primer flames with black primer, and red oxide primers, and the words "Grey Ghost".I kept that paint job on it for 5 years. When the car was as finished as far as I wanted to go, it had the original engine with 3 dues carbs , and the quietest exhaust system I could find.! .... Then added cut-outs to lake pipes. .......Wicked Awesome ride my friend. And the paint job looked as good as new! (touch ups are a breeze with rattle cans eh)
The "Roadster" really looks great!! Amazing what the all-one-color did to the body!! That tonneau cover came out very nice!! Keep up the good work!! Cheers!!
Honestly, he's got it figured out. Doing a "project" car perfectly, 100% down to the last bolt, really drains you. And if you consider it done, then all that's left is to drive it, or sell it. Look at the original hot rods of the 50s and 60s, ratty, and a never-ending work in progress. I think a lot of guys forget how cars were wrenched on every spare minute back then, and were never truly "finished".
I think you are correct - it is quality entertainment. I am impressed with your approach and results. Your work ethic is not lacking. I don't think there is anyone else out there in TH-cam land that puts as much effort into their projects.
What I like to do Dan to avoid getting dry spray is to open up the vent on the paint lid with a 3/16" drill bit. It seems the 1st time you move the gun it plugs the vent so a larger opening allows the paint to get back in the gun.
It is amazing you accomplished this much after your full time job just at nights and weekends in 30 days. How many of the complainers would put that many hours in after a full time job with a small budget? If you have a huge budget it is easy to buy from a catalog instead of being creative and using what you have.
great job your abilities are quite impressive, what I admire the most is you fabricating things to fit and function and not just building this from refurb or re pop parts, keep up the good work.
Like I've said previously, your an absolute machine. I love how you build junk from junk. Stuff that's destined for the scrap pile, you put in the work and while not perfect make it something you can cruise around in and enjoy. That's hot rodding 👍🏾
Hey Dan. I love how even though your workshop has stuff all over the place ( like mine) You knew exactly where your paint stirrer was. Just reach up and back and there it is. GOLD. Shes looking awesome dude. From a Tri Five lovin Kiwi from New Zealand.
Hey Dan, it really looks good. I can't wait till spring to see it finished. Don't know what color you plan on painting it but sure it will turn out nice. You definitely know your tri-fives. See you in the next video. Great job.
Dan awesome that you have your lady part if the project your living the dream i always wanted a small garage to restore a car I want in the near future
Wow Dan your doing an amazing job with this former 4dr 57 Chevy I've been a fan since I was a kid my dad owned a black on black Belair convertible with a 283 fuel injected my mom convinced my dad sell it when I was 6 seeing your 57 Chevy brings back memories I know when you complete this car it will very fun to drive
Perfect description........Quality Entertainment!! I've enjoyed the journey, Dan. Watching a sad 4 door hardtop become a sharp convertible. I didn't think that was possible. Rock On, Dan.
Car is looking great! Years ago I became sick of seeing Red Oxide primer. Now it looks fresh and different, and I think I’m sick of gray primer now lol!
Very impressive - what a change in a rusted POS to a great project hot rod. . You are fearless in your efforts and while they may not be show cars they are fine tri-5’s that you are preserving and moving forward into the future. You have a very wide range of skills and abilities you should feel proud of your efforts.
You have the greatest car guy’s girlfriend EVER! She totally supports your car addiction and she even operates the camera for you! It doesn’t get any better. Dannie is the coolest girlfriend on TH-cam.
Hi Dan and Danni, Dennis here from Filer, Idaho USA. Here to watch another update on the 4dr to 2dr conversion build. I sure enjoy your channel. Thank you
Wyoming Ron here, it's nice to know I'm not the only one that throws things when I'm pissed off. But I actually break some things. Remotes don't last very long in my house. But at least I can laugh about it! Oh yeah, the convertible looks killer! Another great job bro!

The first stuff I worked on was a buddies 57 Chevy in red primer with a 327 in it. Brings back sweet memories❤️. This ragtop conversion is genius. Keep doing what you do👍
The transition from an ugly hulk with the only solid part of the car being hacked off and thrown away to be turned into a real beauty and watching the progression; makes me anxious to see the finished product and you and Dani cruising down the road together in it. That "fake" convertible looks better as is than a lot of genuine rat rods I see on the road here in Michigan each summer.
