  • ON 618: The Cosmic Monster
TON 618 is a supermassive black hole, one of the largest known in the universe. Its mass is estimated to be around 66 billion times that of our sun, making it more than 40 times the mass of the Milky Way's central black hole, Sagittarius A*.
Located in the constellation Draco, TON 618 is part of a distant quasar, a galaxy with an extremely bright active nucleus powered by a supermassive black hole. The intense radiation emitted by TON 618 is due to the accretion disk of matter surrounding it, which heats up to millions of degrees as it spirals inward.
The size of TON 618 is truly mind-boggling. Its event horizon, the point of no return beyond which nothing, not even light, can escape its gravitational pull, is estimated to be around 440 billion kilometers in diameter. This is roughly 40 times the distance between the Earth and the Sun.
The existence of such a massive black hole provides valuable insights into the early universe and the formation of galaxies. It also serves as a reminder of the immense power and scale of the cosmos.

The gallows are a symbolic representation of the darker side of history, and I wanted to explore that contrast in this video!

The noose and gallows were meant to symbolize the darker themes we explored in the video. It’s all part of the storytelling!
