What a wonderfully kind comment, thank you! I’ve always been blown away by so much of the wonder in the Universe, usually from books when I was younger. And this channel has been my attempt to start trying to share the things that really appeal to my own sense of awe and wonder and I’m so happy to have found that so many others feel the same way. I also think that art and science don’t spend enough time together so I’m trying to do my best there too! Thanks for being on the journey with me and I look forward to sharing many more of these!

Thanks Brian, really appreciate the kind words, sorry to hear about your father, I hope to encourage my kids in a similar way so it sounds like he did a great job. So pleased to hear he would enjoy these videos and thank you for the support, it’s greatly appreciated and really does motivate me to keep heading down this path.
You should give money on patron instead because TH-cam takes like 30% cut while patron takes like 5% (looked it up) so it helps more donating directly instead of through TH-cam, though he still gets 70%
What the hell did I just watch? This video is beyond amazing, after being in TH-cam for 17 years now, the quality and effort put on this content just surprised me a lot. Keep doing this man, good luck.
@@tomraeymaekers3580 Current AI couldn't generate this level of detail, at least not in a way that would make sense. AI is not to the point you think it is if you think it's capable of this clearly human-made masterpiece. Current AI is certainly impressive in many ways, but not for highly detailed cinematic vfx generation as demonstrated in these Epic Spaceman videos. Maybe (big emphasis on the "maybe") in another decade or two with very expensive, cutting edge purpose-made tech, but definitely not now (it would also take additional years of development to train a competent AI to potentially match Epic Spaceman's vfx quality). If a current AI generated this it would be a sloppy incoherent mess of poorer quality graphics that would fail to convey any intelligible information.
everything you said i already knew, that did not stop me from being spellbound the whole time! the production value in this vid alone is staggering!!! instant sub 100000%
I'm absolutely blown away by this - one of the most impressive displays of video production I've ever seen! Aside from that, incredibly interesting to watch and done in such a clever way to make it easy to follow. Wow! 👏
I know you get this comment often, BUT your videos are 10 out of 10. Everything about them is top tier. Graphics, narration, explanation of subjects (esp. for people that have just started to learn more about astronomy), I could go on and on. The hard work and dedication to your videos and channel is noticed. (Coming from a person that has loved astronomy since i was 5 yrs old.) Thank you very much.
What a wonderful comment, thank you so much! I’m so pleased it gave you that sort of feeling, I’m always hoping I can get people there because it’s a feeling I love myself
It has same amount of useful content if you were going to take 3.6 billion minutes of influencer vlogs and compress it into 14 minutes, it blows the mind to think about.
Great video! Made my day! Do you have any plan about making video of the huge gap between stars? Like having a long journey from earth to Proxima Centauri?
Wow, that was absolutely mind-blowing! I'm really into astronomy, and those visuals were way off the scale, even compared to the best documentaries out there. You, my friend, are truly Epic! Please continue to create more of these and keep pursuing your dreams. All the best from Brazil.

You made me in fall love with science again. Im a big science buff ever since high school and lost touch when I went to work in the corporate world in commerical litigation. I am truly thankful for creators like you that exist on youtube. Thank you kind sir for your efforts, you are appreciated.
This is the best popular science video channel i had ever seen. No bullshit, no "overly dramatic" voice acting, no unnecessary advertisements. Straight forward facts and my God - the astonishing performance at visualising every single sentence. Please, keep it going.
I just turned on my TV at 1AM for this masterpiece, this video is simply the best I’ve ever seen on TH-cam, the CGI, the storyline, the graphics and music, everything are just beautiful. I’m highly recommend to watch this on a bigger screen with high resolution. Subscribed
Just wow, since i was a kid i had this fascination about the cosmos, i just found your channel and i'm blown away... Having the opportunity to visualize this things is so incredible, thanks and keep on creating your art.
Love the video! Btw, spring is around the corner, so the night side of earth is looking to the outside of the galaxy. There are a few cool quasars in constellation Virgo/Leo. Happy star gazing 😊😊
I find this incredibly informative, smoothing, imaginative and entertaining wrapped together beautifully. The production value is absolutely amazing and top notch. I typically only listen to science content as bgm, but this channel got me watching it and engaged for the entire length of the video.
I thought the fancy animation and all that was just a intro and it will be gone in 30 seconds, but a WHOLE 14:01 Minutes video with VFX? OK that's underrated you deserve so much more, Also it was so easy to understand the mass of these insane supermassive Black Holes. You did a great job making this I love it.
Dude. What? You are telling me you did all of this by yourself? This was *WAY* better than anything I’ve ever seen on TH-cam or even tv. I can’t imagine how long this took to put together. How long did it take to render? I instantly subscribed and I’m really looking forward to your future projects. You deserve to do this full time.
Thanks so much for the kindness and super supportive words! It took about 4 months, generally my shots are something like 30s per frame to render, the 4.3million suns shot was the hardest, Blender really didn’t want to do that! Took about a week to render that. So pleased you’re enjoying and foujd this special!
I’m interested in Unreal for sure and have done some tests, I might move to it in the future, you’d be surprised how fast Blender can be though, I did one test render with ray tracing or path tracing and Blender was actually faster. It really depends on the scene, if you can use Lumen then definitely faster and you can build pretty much any sized scene with Nanite which is really the thing that entices me as I often make these absolutely massive sets.
I love your videos. Could you do something on the following? Time Gravity Speed of light Water- ocean depth These videos are absolutely fine art, so educational and innovative
I wouldn't have thought that an educational video would give me goosebumps. Especially your calm voice and the way you emphasize the information with it contributed so much to the atmosphere.
Thanks so much! Goosebumps is the highest achievement I hope to achieve, that wonderful awe and wonder that’s hard to get to in everyday life. Thanks for taking the time to comment!
I was thinking that, this is professional AF, I think Epic Spaceman could be the next Brian Cox or Carl Sagan, educational entertainment is the next big thing imo. Infotainment?
I’ve seen A LOT of videos on this topic, but this one actually left my mouth hanging open. The way you broke it down & explained the scale of these monsters in a way that we could actually understand & visualize, instead of just throwing out these insane numbers that really mean nothing to use because we can’t comprehend them with our limited understanding of outer space from Earth…just amazing. The only problem I see for you in the foreseeable future is being able to crank these videos out quick enough to satiate your undoubtedly growing audience. I’ll be impatiently waiting. Excellent work.
Watched about 10 seconds of the video and subscribed. This channel's criminally underrated on script, music, education, and visuals. Wishing this channel and its contributors all the best for the future.
The production quality in this video is UNREAL. I was absolutely stunned when I started the video. I could not believe I was watching a video on TH-cam, and a solo production at that. This is seriously the best quality I think I have ever seen in media. I cannot begin to imagine how much effort goes in to this, and I hope you continue to make these videos! I will definitely be showing your work off to my friends and family, and I'll be binging as soon as I get the chance! Thank you so much for the incredible educational content!
Ok this is what space documentaries have been missing. Or what you evolved the genre to. Insane video in all ways. I just cant imagine any documentary will beat the visuals in this or the way you present everything. Just finally something new for me
This is a blow in the face of missinformation. I resisted clicking on the video for a couple of days because I thought it was one of those “listicle” videos of nonsensical pseudoscience. But this is totally new. It’s a true passion project, with the human behind it literally in the front! I wish you good luck.
Incredible simulation. Really shines a light on our scale in the universe. We humans are just ants on a tiny pebble. We need to solve our issues and explore this endless vastness of outside our pebble.
Thank you! Sorry it’s taken me a while to get back to you, I’ve only just realised I can filter the comments, really appreciate the kindness and I’m really pleased you enjoyed it so much!
No one has to tell you how hard you worked, or how great this is, or how novel, or how beautiful. No one NEEDS to tell you these things, but here I am, telling them to you, because you deserve to know how much brighter you’ve made all our lives for this video existing 🌌
I've been watching You Tube for years and this is the first comment I have ever left a channel. Epic Spaceman I salute you. Your graphics are amazing and the way you explain the science alongside is nothing short of EPIC. My only criticism is that it takes so long for your wonderful videos to create. Thank you so much, good Sir.
Dude! I've never seen videos of this quality anywhere on TH-cam! I've been a 3d artists for 25 years and I see all the hard work you've put in just this video. Keep this up and you'll be at 1M subscribers in a few months! Subscribed of course! 😁
Thank you so much! Massively appreciate the support and perspective from someone with so much VFX experience, the last couple of years of learning while making has been hard but really rewarding and comments like this really motivate to keep heading down this path. Fingers crossed on the million and thanks for the sub too!
I can’t tell you how many nights I spent looking at the stars as a child, dreaming about all sorts of things I could barely understand. Your video brought back that innocent sense of wonder in a way that I haven’t felt in years. This was beautiful in every way (and ABSURDLY impressive for a one person project). I wish nothing more than for your continued success with the channel :)
Absolutely excellent!! In a time of AI moderators and random B-roll, this production is stunning, interesting like a book you can’t put down, and elegant. I will definitely be supporting your Patreon.
literally the best video i've ever seen. i was blown away. i noticed a clicking noise throughout the video, though. I will watch every single video you ever make.
Thank you! I’m so pleased you enjoyed it so much! The click I think is me hitting spacebar as I was recording my over my own voice as I recorded it badly the first time, I hoped to cut out all the taps but you’ve got great ears!
@@EpicSpaceman Amazing Video, I did notice the clicking sound too I assumed it was my headset or audio settings as it went off even while mid-word but Spectacular video. It would be amazing to be alive in 10,000 years or 100,000,000,000 years to see what theories are billions of kilometers off or are just a lightyear off
This is quite obviously utterly beautiful in presentation, but it's the monumental illustration of scales that has them falling away from my eyes so that I feel I can truly see the magnitudes at play, no matter how dark their materials. Toby, you epic spaceman, you have outdone yourself!
Just WOW! You're a man of science and you deserve a nobel prize for all your efforts in educating the public. Your videos are like highly budgeted hollywood short films. I can't imagine all the effort that went into making this.
Honestly one of the best videos I’ve watched in a long time. I never left any TH-camrs comments on their videos but after watching yours I was totally compelled too.
This may be the best TH-cam video production ever. In terms of the amount of people behind this beautiful work. It’s only you who created this but somehow this is movie level quality and better looking then most big movie cgi. Beauty all around great work
Wtf! What was that!? First video and instantly better than every documentary I have ever seen! Even Brian Cox could not surpass you! I’m also an engineer and I noticed the level of detail and information gathered. No mistake seen here! Perfect! Glad I saw this in the earliest channel development!!! Amazing!! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
@@EpicSpacemanhave you ever heard of melody sheep? It's a REALLY good space channel Your content is a little better and I honestly didn't think I would ever find that And I've been looking A collab with you guys would be iconic
Super amazing visuals, but there is one big issue. *TON 618 is definitely not more massive than our Milky Way galaxy, it's not even close.* That's a huge error and a common misconception I see a lot. TON 618 has an estimated mass of about ~50 billion solar masses (or 41 billion on the low end like stated in the video) and the mass of our Milky Way is over 1 trillion solar masses. Our galaxy is at least like 20 times more massive than TON 618
Yeah sorry about this, I mention it in the description that I got the line wrong, I recorded that last line the day I released it so didn’t realise I messed it up until too late, I meant to say all the stars in the Milky Way not the Milky Way itself. So TON618 has quite possibly more mass than all the stars in the Milly Way (it’s pretty close) but the MW itself has a lot more mass because it has so much dark matter.
@@EpicSpaceman Ah, I didn’t read the description 😅 Regardless, this is still the best video I’ve seen recently that helps put black holes into perspective. And the gravitational lensing effects are awesome. Cheers
@science.and.beyond no worries at all! Glad you enjoyed otherwise, I need to try and put a note on screen about that, it had to be the last dramatic line!
@@EpicSpaceman nah not just enjoying, this blew me away. Just spectacular presentation with enthusiasm. When you can notice somebody does something with passion, its just something else. Feels authentic and not quantity over quality. Im the one saying thank you!
the size comparison in this is so helpful. even just in terms of the distances between planets in our own solar system it's helpful to see because it's so hard to conceptualize
I don’t remember when was the last time I left a comment under a video, but I could not stop myself. This was hands down the most aesthetically pleasing video about space that I have seen in years, if not ever. You hear these numbers being thrown around, but in reality anything over a few thousand is nearly impossible for the average person to optically comprehend. The way you visually presented the amount of suns that fits in Sagitarius A gave me true perspective for the first time in my life and I have been actively interested in astronomy for a good 20 years now, having watched/read/spent possibly hundreds, if not thousands of hours on the topic. Please please please I beg you, for the betterment of humanity - do not stop and find ways to make this a full time thing!! We need more content from you! P.S. Subscribed to your channel, subscribed to your patreon(my first ever patreon subscription), can’t wait for the next video. Keep up the amazing work!
As a fan of 90's manga and Anime, Whenever I hear the phrase Sagittarius A Star, I'm immediately reminded of the Greek Mythology that went into the plot development of Sailor Moon's last few chapters ntm her huge magical girl Anime blue eyes in shock/ excitement when she time travels to the future and saves herself. I'm getting a little off topic; however, this video reminds me of her diving into the Supermassive Black Hole at the center of OUR Milky Way Galaxy to save all of the planets and Stars that have fallen into it !!! I also find it funny how some artists and star gazers compare the pupil in our human eyes or the eyes of any animal (eagles, cats, fish, etc) to a black hole.
Congrats on 100K but I still couldn’t believe you were not ALREADY larger when I first found the channel. The production in writing is on another level. Still, similar to your simulation, this “pen tip” size channel will definitely grow exponentially as you begin to post videos more regularly and “devour” those subscriptions. Cheers 🥂
Thank you! Hopefully I can get the channel to super-massive territory one day and make a scale video on the channel itself haha. For now I’m just super happy and motivated having comments like yours, amazing and personal feedback is better than any follower count.
Your videos are truly incredible - I can't believe it's just you working with Blender and mo-cap. Not only is it high-quality, but your calm voice and thoughtful manner of presenting information clearly puts this over the top of 99% of content creators.
This is the BEST video I ever seen to explain this. It’s engaging, personal, comfortable, entertaining and most of all, understandable within such a short timeframe. Great work!
HOLY SHIT!! Thank god the algorithm blessed me with this video, this was amazing, your narration, scale explanation and man your vfx work. The fact that it's just you is mental
I just discovered your masterful work, watched 3 videos straight on and this one made me cry, i will leave others for later but i wanted to say HUGE thanks for this. These are the best videos of space i've seen, i'm blown away, thank you so much for sharing this. Someone give this man a team, sponsors for more content please!!!!!
Absolutely amazing. Everything from the sound, writing to the visuals. It's kinda scary listening to an adult talk calmly about something called a galaxy eater. Can't help but feel a little bit sense of dread.
Haha! Indeed, they just like to chomp on their own galaxy… FOR NOW! I think the dread that is totally normal but I find it gets replaced more with wonder over time, though sometimes it oscillates a bit.
This is the BEST VIDEO I've ever seen on TH-cam. The best visuals in the whole platform. Chapeaux! I literally thought that you were part of some company or Hollywood studio - but this is just you? Congratulations from my extremely humble place - you are an example. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, your passion and your art.

GREAT COMMENT, I completely agree. Thank you@@EpicSpaceman!

He has been gone for many years, but I know he, too, would marvel at the work you are doing to bring the whole cosmos down to earth. Thank you! Brian A
Thanks Brian, really appreciate the kind words, sorry to hear about your father, I hope to encourage my kids in a similar way so it sounds like he did a great job.
Thank you! Really appreciate the high praise, I’m definitely going to keep working on these, no chance of stopping any time soon!
its AI generated... less effort put in than the other youtube videos you have watched in the past seventeen years
@tomraeymaekers3580 there is no AI used in any of this, 0%, it’s all done in Blender
@@tomraeymaekers3580 feel sorry for you bro

I'm absolutely blown away by this - one of the most impressive displays of video production I've ever seen! Aside from that, incredibly interesting to watch and done in such a clever way to make it easy to follow. Wow! 👏

The hard work and dedication to your videos and channel is noticed. (Coming from a person that has loved astronomy since i was 5 yrs old.) Thank you very much.

It just too great of a content to feel a time.
@@EpicSpaceman Absolutely correct and that is why I will be impatiently waiting to see what adventure you take us on next. You are amazing.

This has got to be the longest 14 minute video, not because it's boring but rather the amount of information packed into it, visually and audibly.
it makes my brain super happy.
A lot of information packed in one small video, just like a black hole
It has same amount of useful content if you were going to take 3.6 billion minutes of influencer vlogs and compress it into 14 minutes, it blows the mind to think about.
No. Wait. I know this one. Time dilation. That’s how.

@EpicSpaceman you're a superstar man this is the best video and the best explanation of black holes on youtube ever great work keep on it❤
@EpicSpaceman why are u not switching to unreal engine 5? Will take you minutes in comparison

@EpicSpaceman . I have an epic idea for you dm I'll give you a 20 second rundown or let me know where I can submit my idea.

*STARLORD
Cheers

Me too, I totally get you. This is my passion so this video is just perfect for me eyes
It's irrationally perfect
