This reminds me of coming home from school every day to my mum listening to you on the radio. The easiest days of my life. I never thought these familiar little intros would make me feel such a way. Thank you, Steve.
Gutted! This has genuinely knocked me for six. A voice I’ve listened to for many many years, in the afternoons and on Sundays. He made you feel part of the gang and family RIP Steve 😢
God the times I’ve listened to that drum roll at 4pm at work and the close theme at 5 going to sign off work for another day. Going to be so strange without it.
Good times listening to him on the way home from school for over a decade. Turned 18 only a couple weeks ago, so long Steve the legend of the airwaves and the greatest to ever do it. R.I.P
It was a huge mistake removing Steve Wright from his afternoon slot. When he left i stopped listening but kept listening as he carried on with his Sunday love songs and was really pleased when Steve was offered the chance to host Pick of the pops. When Ken Bruce left Radio 2 for Greatest hits Radio i followed so i could catch his pop master quiz. I wonder at some point if Steve might have joined Ken.
At 2:28 - 🎶 Steve Wright in the Afternoon.............Great Britain! 🎶 What a beautiful, powerful jingle. Sounds like an original JAM gem. I miss Steve Wright in the Afternoon more than words can say. 😢😢
Totally devastated by the awful news of Steve Wrights sudden passing. He was a true broadcasting giant, someone I'd grown up listening to, first on Radio 1 then on Radio 2. Legend is a word used far to often, but he truly was one. Heaven FM about to get a huge boost, Terry and Steve reunited. Go with all our love and gratitude for a job well done, thanks Steve, Rip
Yes really sad , im gutted as well ,it doesn't seem real , i wish it wasn't. If you listen to him when he was 29 and then listen to him aged 69 his voice was exactly the same . It didn't change in 40 years. I miss him .
This jingle was played either on the day of the Manchester terror attack , or the Grenfell tower date. Usually you would hear crowds cheering in his intro jingle, if a bad event happened he would remove them and just have the music playing on its own.
i think we know why we're all here again. rip to a radio legend 🫡

I'm going to miss Steve so much when he leaves R2. I hope another station is wise enough to snap him up.
