The bbc contributed to Steve Wright’s demise i grew up listening to his shows both on radio 1 and 2 total legend

I first heard Steve with Mike Read in 1980. His afternoon show in 1983 with Damian the social worker, Mr Angry from Purley, the Geese and many more. Thank you for uploading this very special show. Rest in peace Steve.

Best radio presenter on BBC 2 ever still sadly missed 😢

He was great in the afternoon and Love Songs too. But I hated his Pick of the Pops. It should be about the music not the DJ - it's a chart run down. When he started singing over the songs it was jarring. Sorry - not the best use of his talents. Wish they'd have been able to launch "Radio 2 Gold" with him as a weekday presenter - perfect.

If some body comes all to replace him and they are good at what they do fair enough , but Scott Mills is not in the same class , Ken Bruce is now at Greatest Hits , but his show is totally different from radio 2 there is no more banter there a rather bland show there okay they play good music but it lacks something , no rapport after15 minutes adverts it is a rather flat station

Steve was my introduction to music in my childhood thank heavens for him, for he is the best and I had great musical years in my young days. He is responsible for giving me the music knowledge into my adult life which is a privilege, for the young ones today have no idea what they are missing. R.I.P You Legend. Such a special person who had no idea the fantastic effect you had on our lives.

I can't actually believe how much I miss him... I have been a fan since he started... We NEED more Jocks of this calibre. There really isn't anyone like him or anywhere near at the moment. He has left radio a diminished amateurish place.

This jingle was played either on the day of the Manchester terror attack , or the Grenfell tower date. Usually you would hear crowds cheering in his intro jingle, if a bad event happened he would remove them and just have the music playing on its own.

BBC radio 2 will never ever be the same again, lost gold and ruined. Steve you’re the best.

Writing after Steve’s death. This interview concentrated on the lay list, which is what Scott Mills show is, a playlist with boring chat about his private life. Steve’s three hours every day was a Show, intelligent, interesting broadcasting, informative, funny, warm. Three hours spent with lively friends every day. How Helen Thomas has held onto her job after this I truly cannot understand.

@3:20ish in I thought for a moment the presenter was going to say something else beginning in sh when she seemed to extend the word shift to describe the SM show. Don’t like SM and don’t lusten to Radio 2 now.
