Question my thermostat use to be on cool auto but now it’s on fan on cool. I hit the mode button but auto won’t show up anymore. What am I doing wrong? Please & thank you
My ac was working great never had a problem then my ac started blow out warm air what can I do is it a total loss or could something be wrong with unit from the roof ?
@@Ann-x9j if the AC is running and blowing warm air, then a fuse or breaker will not likely be the error. Have you checked the mixing divider to ensure air isn’t mixing? Covered at 4:30 in the video. Also, what is the temperature outside? It’s possible the unit froze up, can try to run just the fan on the AC and see if it defrosts and kick the AC portion on again. -Todd
Remove the vent with the tabs and remove the screw covers with a small screwdriver. At that point all the screws holding the interior cover will be exposed from removal.
I just bought a camper and it as solar it’s the same unit but my thermostat screen won’t turn on it was on when I bought it and it sometimes comes on but immediately dies and shuts off the ac so would that be a thermostat issue
It very well could be a thermostat issue but I would check the wiring first to make sure there are no lose connections. If your handy with a multimeter I would also ohm out the wires as well. -Todd
Do you guys know where I can find the un-blurred copy of the control board wiring diagram? I found the manual on GE website but they purposely blur the image and text on page 13 which is the wiring diagram specifically for the control board. I am just trying to ascertain which wires do which functions. Hopefully you can help me with this.
No we do not, but if you pull the assembly off and remove the cover to the board, there is a wiring diagram on the cover. For the boards on the lower and upper. -Todd
Above the box at minute 5:26 you'll see the inside coils. You need to make sure that the freeze sensor is plugged into that control box and the sensor properly mounted in the saddle off to one of the sides of the inner coil. That would be a start. Beyond that it would call for more diagnostics using a meter and getting certain readings from the controller and sensor. -Todd
It has a built in diagnostic and could mean the following. Low Voltage Detection: If the 12VDC drops below 10.5, the thermostat will switch to “OFF” mode and the display will flash “Lo”. When voltage exceeds 10.5V, the display will stop flashing, show “Lo”, remain in “OFF” mode, and other modes must be reselected by the user. Check you 12V battery voltage and converter output to confirm you have a proper 12 volts.
@@rotwiler7674 Not 100% on if they will work with that ceiling box. Reliability has so far proven to be pretty good, granted they have only been out on the market for a few years.
Just paid for a THIRD GE air conditioner unit in our 2021 Grand Design MX17. The original went out in just over a year. Mind you, we might have used the camper a total of three weeks for the entire year. Great American replaced it under warranty, but only gave us a ONE YEAR warranty on the replacement which we didn't question. Three months after that warranty expired, the unit failed again despite having the annual maintenance work done at Great American. We had lost faith, so went to another repair shop that replaced the unit giving us the STANDARD two year warranty. ???!! Someone will be getting a call as soon as I pull my paperwork. I did ask about changing from GE, but unfortunately, the wiring has to be changed which would increase the cost exponentially.
Love to know more about the situation, could you please email our Customer Service Team by clicking the link below so we can look into this. Thanks, Todd greatamericanrv.com/contact/customer-support/
@@GreatAmericanRV Actually there is a saddle on the curb side of the coil that the sensor inserts into. If you just jam it into the coil, it most likely will not protect against freeze ups properly. Dometic and Coleman are that way, but the GE sensor location was designed for ease of install, and consistent placement.
@@wtroyer01I think this prevents the coils from getting cold. When mine was running the line was very cold, where the sensor was, but the coils weren't getting cold. I think it's location makes it think the coils are frozen when they aren't even cold
getting blinking “FC” code. Can disconnect power and battery, reconnect and then turn on AC, has about a 5-10 second delay then turns on, give it about 5-10 mins and it goes back to “FC”
This is a communication error between the thermostat and the control board on the A/C. I would start with checking the wiring on the back of the thermostat to ensure there 3 wires are connected [RED (+12V) BLACK (GROUND) YELLOW (COMMUNICATION)]. Ensure all of these wires are nice and tight on the thermostat. Next unplug your RV from any an all 110 power sources to kill power to the top unit. Remove the Filter screen and possibly the entire ceiling assembly on the interior to give you enough access. from there you should find their thermostat wire going into the control box. Remove the control box cover and check the connections on the inside, usually put together with a wing nut connection. If you don't find any issues you can run a test wire from those connections to the thermostat and try running that way. This would verify anything behind the wall causing issues intermittently. If one of these issues doesn't resolve the problem it is an issue with the thermostat or control board. -Todd
If the 12VDC drops below 10.5V, the thermostat will switch to “OFF” mode and flash “Lo”. When voltage exceeds 10.5V, the display will show a constant “Lo” and remain in “OFF” mode until a different mode is reselected by the user. Check your battery voltage, if your battery is not charging while plugged in you need to check your convertor system next. -Todd

Let's find a starting point and go from there, have you tried any of the suggestions in the video? Around 5 minute mark we talk about the air mixing which is a common issue and easy fix. The more specific information you can give the better I can assist. What is the temperature of the air going into the AC and the temp coming out? -Todd
I just got a new trailer with this ac and I feel like the freezer censor is the issue. They have have it attached in a copper cylinder attached to the freeze line that feeds the coils. I'm curious if it's getting so cold it's not letting the coils freeze. I moved mine to be inserted in the coils and going to see if that works.
@@HarveySpecter14 Wanted to make sure you understand, the freeze sensor is to shut the compressor down and prevent the coils from freezing up all the way. You don’t want the coils to freeze up. -Todd
@@GreatAmericanRV totally understand that. But I think the way it's designed, it's causing the compressor to shut off prematurely. I moved the sensor into the coils so it'll still recognize when they freeze.
Only thing I don't like is you have to be quick with the functions to turn it off without kicking the furnace fan on and then have to wait for it to cycle off.
These things are junk I’m on # 3 since 2021 the only reason I still have one is the rv warranty keeps giving me free ones but if I change it I’ll definitely go with another brand. I do know I will not buy another rv with a GE air conditioning. If you want to skip being hot on a trip I’d choose a rv brand that doesn’t use GE.
While I can’t disagree that it’s not the best brand, I’ll suggest that you exercise your A/C by running it for a few days a month. If you have it plugged in set it at 80-85 and just let it kick on now and again. The more you let it sit without used the more likely things won’t work. That goes for all components. You may already do that but just wanted to make the suggestion. Also, make sure the cover it’s under has enough space for air to circulate as it runs. -Todd.
Do you know if it’s possible to change the display to room temperature instead of set temperature?
@@jasont1079 to my knowledge and the info in the manual there is not an option for that. -Todd

You mentioned checking the torque but I don’t think you shared the spec? What’s the torque spec for the four long bolts
Great question, 35 +/- 5 inch pounds. You want to make sure the gasket on the roof mount is evenly compressed.

Great question. You should stick it in the fins about half way up. You should see the fins looking straight up if you remove the air filter.
