the style nowadays is high rise for every body type. i’m not plus size but i wouldn’t feel comfortable in low rise jeans cause i don’t want my crack hanging out when i sit or bend over
I really appreciate you saying something about how most of these "rules" are to make your body appear smaller. I work in a plus size clothing store and so many of my customers are scared to try new things because "oh, that won't be flattering" or "I'll look fat in that." Fat bodies are not bad or wrong, and "flattering" doesn't have to mean "looks thinner".
That's so true and something I learn right now. I always wore baggy black clothes to "look slimmer" and now I try out clothes I really like, f.e. flared jeans and blouses. They show off my curves, don't hide them and that's still kind of weird to me, but it suits me so much better.
You sound amazing. I always try to tell people that, if they can afford it, they should go get a personal styling workshop. And ofcourse in a store with people like yourself! It should be a store that sells clothing in the widest range posible (very small to very large. Or if you are on the large side a plus size store to begin with.) So that you're sure you won't get looks and just get suport! In those type of stores they not only are kind and suportive; they also know how to dress plus size woman. And we all can learn, atleast most of us can, so we won't keep buying clothes 2 sizes to big to hide, but buy our real size and look&feel good wearing it!
@@89spezzini So proud you took that reallt big step! That's super scary but you took it anyway, and I'm sure it will pay off! (Meaning you'll get used to it and feel more confident and positive 😊
@Glühfunke That's why it's good to have stores that give workshops. Everyone can use that so ofcourse plus size people too. If it's a good store they'll know how to dress a plussize person and know how to treat her. (It can be pretty emotional). And eventually it comes down to understanding buying&wearing 2 sizes to big doesn't do any good. It's perfectly fine wearing your own size. That's usually the thing; we either think it's; lets go 2 or more sizes to big or so small it's super tight and squeezes all our curves together. So we need to learn what our real size is. And that is the one in which nothing gets squeezed and nothing is stretched so far you cam put your leggs in there; but just comfortable, a little room in the fabrik is enough. Often we need help to find that size because we either hang on to what size we used to be or what we feel will hide it all bigtime. So we just need to ask for that help because we are all worth feeling comfortable and good about ourselfs!
Unfortunately those rules apply to everybody, not only plus size people (unless you are really skinny). I know a lot of average weight girls who avoid clothes they genuinely like because they're afraid they'll look "fat".
If you have a large chest you are told not to wear anything high cut, low cut, baggy or form fitting. You can't win. Had a reduction for pain reasons, and that also gets judged. I feel like women can't win no matter what. I just wear whatever makes ME happy now. 🤷♀️
YUP. I have always had a larger chest, even at my thinnest, even when I was 13, whatever. I’ve always had a bigger chest and it never mattered what I wore. Low cut? Showing off. High cut? Showing off. Baggy clothes? Look sloppy. Form fitting? Showing off. Like ffs people, worry about yourself and your unhappiness with trying to stand by your own rules and leave me be -_-
People seriously judged you for not wanting to be in pain?!?! I'll never understand these toxic types, but you're better off without them and certainly shouldn't listen to any of them
@Awesome Videos So? Look in the big and tall section. They have his size. Age doesn't matter people develop differently. I am telling you he will be way happier in clothes like that. They will fit his butt trust me. I come from tall people who shop in that section
Love this series. I’d love to see you do a “breaking personal style rules” as an idea, there’s so many I impose on myself like I never wear maxi dresses because I think they make me look to tall and wide. Could be interesting to see what sort of styles and clothes you intentionally never wear or even try on.
We do sort of see this in other video's of her's :). One being "clothes I hated" which someone already mentioned below (or above, not sure if my comment comes above or below the older ones haha😅). And in video's she does with a friend in which they both pic a few sets of clothing which often involve outfits she would normally not wear. Aswel as a video she made in which she forced herself to choose one item per day from her own closet that she's never worn since buying it and styles the best she can with other items on her closet. But I do like this idea aswel! I just think it will be a little harder to do since she buy's it all herself ofcourse so she'd be able to take it all back or film all of it in the store... But the idea is lots of funn!!
This is like the tall women can't wear heels rule. If I want to be 6'6" in heels it's my business yet people still point and stare. Not everyone is 5'7" and 110 lbs. All that matters is that you're comfortable.
Even at 5'7 people get offended (for lack of a better word) that I dare to wear heels. It's pretty annoying to always feel uncomfortable. When people stare often you still feel the eyes on you even when they aren't looking anymore.
Agree ! And like NO hate im a size 14 with a ugly c section stomach now lol and low rise one falls off , 2 makes your stomach look bigger , and it’s just not comfortable .! But girls ! If you Like then feel good wear it and be amazing :D to me this is personal choice lol
Spring Edition: -No maxi dresses -No mini skirts -No fishnet stockings -No neon colours -No small jewellery (something I came across/overheard in a store)
Am I the only one who didn’t see what she was talking about with her body looking “bigger” in the knit sweater? Like that was such a look and tomorrow I’m wearing it.
It helps that she work tight on the bottom.....I rule I learned is only wear loose on one part, loose bottoms + tight top or loose top + tight pants to help from looking completely shapeless
That sweater looked so good on her! But I do get the "rule" too :/ You can't imagine how many times I've tried on oversized jumpers and they've looked awful on me because they make me look even larger than I am! It also doesn't help that my chest is quite a lot bigger than Sierra's which is also a pain when trying to find anything oversized..
@@ericapearl04 Exactly. People often tend to wear both lose clothing on top and bottem because they feel this 'hides' their figure. But more often then not, wearing all lose / to big clothes makes you look far bigger then you actually are. And if we don't feel comfortable to wear well sized clothing, then it's a really good solution to choose something lose for top OR bottem and something more fitting for the other part. - Usually we're way more beautifully curved then we realise and by wearing too big or lose clothing, no one will ever notice! It's super hard to try but once we do and people start noticing, they start complimenting and we'll feel good enough to dress ourselfs like that more often. -- We just need to realise there is a difference between wearing lose and to tight clothing. To tight is what shows all blubs and lines etc. And no one will feel good in that. But it is so much prettier to wear something that is a little lose, you know, comfortable to move in and a little extra fabric; Then to wear something 2 sizes to big and you start to believe you're not worth being seen!
If anyone can afford it I really advice them to take a workshop styling; one on one (or with a sister, friend) go to a store and get good advice on what suits your body/bodytype. - Just make sure it's a store that sells clothes from wide range, very extra small to very extra large and best a store of which you know is very body positive so they'll not only know how to dress you but also make you feel good and comfortable during the whole proces♡! I did this once and the woman were so kind. If you find the right store they'll really help you well and make sure you are mentally supported. (No use of going to a random store and get looked at and all those awefull things!). -- After doing that you'll see you can 1 wear your real size instead of way bigger to cover yourself up and 2 you can wear whatever the hell makes YOU feel good!
If you ever do a part 3, try wearing low waisted jeans. I think only wearing high waisted pants is more of a plus size rule than breaking one. I understand if you dont want to, I wouldn't be caught dead in low waisted jeans, so uncomfortable and unflattering.
Unless you post yourself up, incredibly uncomfortably, in a chair, EVERYONE gets rolls and looks a little bigger when they sit down. It’s because you lap pushes you stomach up and your posture, when relaxed, pushes your top half down. I used to be so self conscious about that, even when I was a size 0, that I wouldn’t sit down at a bar or club because I felt so fat. It’s disgusting what women put themselves through, physically, in order to feel confident and “better” looking.
my moms the worst about enforcing these “rules”...she’s a size two for a reference. I hate when she tells me i should change outfits because it’s “unflattering” when I feel beautiful.
Hayleigh S. same! I feel like sometimes mum or parents in general don’t get that more people are breaking all these rules. Recently my mum said my t-shirt dress was really unflattering on me and too short for the size of my thighs.
Do not listen you are beautiful as long as you have a kind heart that's all that matters i can't believe a girl would say that to another girl AND SHE'S YOUR MOM!?!? Messed up
Yes!!! My mother has done this countless times. When I told her that she makes me feel bad she got really mad at me telling me she only tried to help me.
I love how Kensi’s response to puffer jacket insecurity was a very practical ‘but they’re cozy!’ Practical vs Insecurity... Finish him! Practical wins.
Messy queen over here 🙋🏻♀️👸🏻 My rule is: don’t wear white because you drop food on yourself CONSTANTLY and you have a 3 year old who does the same PLUS he touches your clothes with insanely messy hands 🖐 White clothing + peanut butter and jelly = 🤦🏻♀️
@@jaiden494 The "color theory" is that the same object that is white will look bigger than if it is black. It's kind of an optical illusion. That said, wear what you like!
I know you commented this a couple weeks ago, but I totally relate! It’s like the moment I put on anything white I forget wear my mouth is, my hands are extra shaky, and any food I’m eating is going everywhere 😂😂
In my humble opinion, high waisted jeans make people's bums look "long," which is not a good look. It's not flattering on everybody. To me it accentuates my stomach, digs into my ribs and creates rolls when I sit down. They also ride up my crotch like crazy. No thanks. I just think they're not made for my body type, I prefer a mid-rise - it makes the booty look much perkier.
I've never heard that rule, and I don't ever notice it. Though I think turtlenecks in general are strange because it makes it look like your head isn't attached to your body. 😂
As someone who is really skinny and does have a “flat stomach”- embrace the sitting down pooch! It’s just a part of your body that almost everyone has! (Especially after those food babies😂) I always used to noticed myself happy when I stood up but not when I sat down... but that’s my same stomach just in a different position! Nothing to be self conscious about rock it!!
@@polysteveshusbandandboyfri644 yes. Your ovaries have a layer of protective fat over them that's impossible to get rid of. No cis woman on this planet doesn't have that little bump even the most athletic
Ugh when you showed your pooch in high waisted jeans sitting down 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽that's the kind of representation I need! (and literally what I look like currently watching this video and suddenly feeling 1000x more confident)
Its ok not to like a style that doesnt mean you less “body positive” it just means you dont like it on you. No one thinks they looks good in everything
I am not a plus sized woman, but I have very large breast for my petite size, so anything bulky hangs off my boobs and makes me look bigger than I am. So my whole life I was afraid of wearing turtle necks or chunky sweaters. But I finally decided that I don’t care what others think and if I feel great wearing it than by god I will wear it. The video you make about this topic just reassures me that I will wear whatever I want. Thank you for promoting body positivity!!! You rock
I've been searching everywhere!!! I know it's like the lantern/balloon sleeve....but all I can find are cropped ones. I need whatever size she is wearing!!!!! It's perfect!!
I love oversized tops. In order to not get the “tent” look, I always pair them with more form fitting bottoms. It seems to add a balance that doesn’t make you appear bigger than you are. I was also always told by my sister, who is plus sized, that wearing clothes that are, at least, one size bigger than your “normal” size will actually make you appear smaller. I’ve lived by that rule since I was in high school, and a size 0, and it’s never done me wrong.
I love oversized tops as well. I love to tie them I'm a hairtie in the front then touch it in with some high waisted jeans and sneakers. Always my go to outfit.

flyingrose I didn’t say anything about weight. Promoting an unhealthy lifestyle i do not promote but even if you are unhealthy its so important to love yourself and wearing clothes you feel good in is so important. You can’t begin a weight journey until you love yourself because I’ve tried it and I was miserable. Clothes make me feel better.
This is such a great video! I'm always self conscious about my "pooch" and you're so confident it makes me wanna change the way I see myself and love myself
I had the same thoughts at the gym this morning about my pooch! I was wearing a thinner shirt and embarrassed that my tummy shape was showing through the fabric. But then I thought HEY but this is my tummy and I love it and it doesn’t matter if you can see it’s shape because that’s me! Thanks for the extra confidence to embrace the pooch 🙌🏻
You actually “broke” 3 “rules” with that turtleneck because you also wore horizontal stripes! That’s one I’ve always heard too. “Only vertical stripes to look taller, horizontal stripes make you look wider”. 🙄 EDIT: lmao... guess I shouldn’t pause the video to comment... since you mention that right after I commented. 😂😂
I am from the Chicago suburbs. I have never even contemplated what a puffer jacket looks like on my body. It’s warm and there is 20°F weather here. Those winter rules are crazy. You rocked everything!
Girl, I live on the East Coast in the northern New England. When my best friend and I were in high school, we wore white puffer jackets in the snow for a mini photo shoot. At the time my friend was a size 2 to 4, and I was a 10 to 12. We both looked liked the Michelin man lol. It really doesn't matter the size, it's always gonna look big! That's just the style. Weird that it's a plus size "taboo". As long as you feel good and it keeps you cozy and warm, especially in cold climates like we have here!
There's also a lot of rules for people that are considered "too skinny", there's literally rules for anyone, it's pathetic. The only rule should be that you dress appropriately, depending on the occasion. Like, not go out naked... Lol
@@campbellporter8676 clothing being tight or oversized doesnt mean they dont fit, it means its a different style of clothing. unless you think its too tight if a fat woman highlights her body but cute when thin people do it.

I think she's the size where, in society, there are literally none : ))) Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but it seems that the standard for "skinny dressing rules" only exist if you're dangerously anorexic and have legs that are literally just bone with skin flaps on them - and then it's "no mini skirts" but other than that I can't think of any bc according to society "if you're skinny everything looks good on you"
@@retheply8092 I think Robyn is talking more about the rules people push where they tell skinnier girls to dress to make their chest look larger/or to appear more curvey, so a video on this would be nice to show skinnier girls that it’s okay not to have a bigger chest and that they don’t have to dress to look like they have a different body type
I’m plus-size, a 20-22, and I have a giant puffer coat/ parka that I wear basically everyday since I’m in a colder climate for the first time ever. I love it, and will joke that I’m a fashionable burnt marshmallow 😂 but really, everyone in my office says the coat is iconic 💁🏼♀️
I wore my L. L. Bean puffer jacket for several yrs. I used to be very self conscious about my body and weight,, but since seeing your videos, I've broken that shell. And I'm way older than you. ❣️So thanks
Im so glad someone finally mentioned "the pooch"!!!!! I always wonder why in fashion videos the ppl never show what happens when they sit down. Ive turned down sooo many outfits because I couldn't handle showing the pooch...
the fact that i break these "rules" every other day but then go back and change because i feel self conscious about how i look .......... this made me feel better 🥺
Do it anyway girl. Besides in my opinion not tucking something in makes your stomach look big because your shirt is hanging over your stomach. But also, that's not a bad thing. your stomach is part of your body. Embrace it! ❤
I have 3 sisters, all talker and skinnier than me. I am 5”3 and a solid size 10-12. I love my mom very much, but when it comes to my weight she compares a lot and those comparisons always made me feel morbidly obese (which I am not) next to my sisters. We are now in our late 20’s early 30’s and it’s until now that I decided to feel good with who I am and what my body looks like. I don’t care what my mom and my sisters think!
I recommend trying to tell your mother how her comments make you feel because it may be that she doesn't realise how harsh her words are coming across. You should recognise that what upsets you is your mother's disapproval rather than the way your stomach actually looks, because I can assure you that whatever your stomach looks like, there is NOTHING wrong with you. Keep tucking clothes in if it makes you feel comfortable.
I’m not plus size, but I do wear some pretty extra clothes and I can tell you one thing You can’t feel like you look good if you don’t think that you feel good

Same here! I'm a small but hourglass woman (it's a struggle to find things that fit properly), and I've been afraid my whole life that wearing one might make me look too 'big'- this year, I decided I wasn't going to spend another winter shivering my ass off lol so I got my very first puffer jacket, complete with fuzzy hood and everything! And I couldn't be happier! It's very warm and cozy, perfect for the harsh winters here, and it even comes with a stretchy waist cincher belt thingy, so it looks very put together and fab :) puffer jacket sisters, UNITE!

Absolutely LOVE these! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...As women we NEED to learn as the “beholders” that we look beautiful if we FEEL BEAUTIFUL! That is something it took me 37 years to learn...So young ladies I PROMISE you once you love yourself wholly you’ll feel beautiful no matter what you’re wearing! Thank You for being such a positive force in this world Sierra! 🤍🙏🏻😘
I also really like the idea of women empowering each other, as in, if you see a plus size girl woman on the street and she is looking good, give her a compliment. Sometimes it just makes my whole day to give someone a compliment. Spread the positivity people!
honestly one of my favorite looks was the puffer jacket, it looked amazing on you and i think that crisp white suits you reallyyyy well. LOVED IT definitely wear it again
I want to thank you for such contagious body positivity!!! I recently went shopping and had such an unpleasant experience. Instead of shedding tears and feeling like crap for the rest of the day, I looked at the woman in the mirror, and with a smile on my face, said "Its not you....it's the clothes....you are beautiful and worthy ". Finally, it sank in! I was able to walk out and leave that negative energy on the dressing room floor! Love your videos!!!
The amount of these rules I've heard since I was a chubby kid is mindblowing. Only now in my 20s I'm starting to break them slowly, learning to feel comfortable doing so.
Youre so hecking inspiring!!! So many women act like its against the rules for them to love themselves because they don't fit into typical beauty standards and you promoting loving every inch of your body is so amazing and it such a great influence to younger girls💕 keep doing what you do
I know. It seems the underlying context is plus size people should quietly go away and not be seen because they somehow offend others' sensibilities by existing. I would hope people could stop having to make videos like this, go about their life looking however they want with a "who cares what others think" attitude. The best answer to this sort of size-ism bias in other people is to simply ignore it.
@@calicoquilter4472 hm I believe talking about it is better than ignoring it. But never to justify ourselves, we owe nothing to mean short-sighted people :)

I've been trying to lose tummy fat, not to look better, but to feel better. I have trouble breathing sometimes because my lungs are just really weak. But all my fat builds up in my tummy. When I told my friend that I wanted to lose tummy fat she was worried and cut me off. Then she said "So you think you're ugly? You are beautiful the way you are." And "You are already so thin!" (even though i'm two sizes bigger than the average for my age but that's besides the point) Then I explained to her how it's hard for me to breathe. Then she said that I should build muscle instead. But I can already move a 200 pound closet no problem. I've been called names like "anorexic" by my siblings. When I do eat AT ALL my siblings call me "obese" I think that is what formed my problem because sweets helped me cope with my sadness and confusion. BTW I am sharing this story on a kind of unrelated video because I feel like Sierra's channel is a place where I can share my stories because she's a body positive QUEEN.
society really out there teaching women to hate every aspect of themselves from the day they’re born huh. unlearning all of this self-loathing is difficult, but i hope that every single woman out there manages to do just that. we all deserve to live happily in our bodies and embrace them as they are, not be constantly, desperately trying to change them to fit society’s expectations. love yourselves, ladies, you are allowed to exist in this world exactly as you are. 💙
You're such a body-positive inspiration queen! The way you're able to recognize that it's your own hyper-awareness of your figure when you're in the go-cart is amazing because it's a thought so many of us confuse for being the thoughts of the people around us. As a 20-something-year-old, I hope there are younger girls watching your channel because hearing you work through any negative thoughts about your image in a positive way is something I know would've benefitted me so much in those harsh teenage years
Thank you for showing how you look sitting down. Seeing you embrace your body even when you're sitting is really helpful and comforting. I'm someone who definitely struggles with how my body looks when I sit, and I'm working on it.
That puffer jacket look is so iconic you look amazing and badass in it you inspire me to go get one and I've always been scared of looking too bulky in them but wow you look stunning??? can't handle it
Do you ever hang out with your friends who are thinner and get jealous because it makes you feel bigger?? This is a problem I struggle with and it has nothing to do with my friends they are amazing and I love them it’s just something I’m trying to get over. Love your video btw!! You are beautiful and I loved the look from day 2, I wear leggings with cropped sweaters and shirts all the time
This happens to me and I’m a size four. It just the way our society has trained us to think: size, color, etc = value. That’s not true at all. People are valuable because they are people and even more than that it is our actions and our love of others that defines us. Keep on being you! ✨
I have the reverse problem (wich is not enhanced by medias), I always felt way to skinny, but since I started wearing clothes with bright colors and patterns that are fun and joyful, I feel better most of the time. Because I chose what aspect of me draws attention. Maybe if you find a style that makes you feel special it can reduce the negative comparison with others ? I don't really know, we have different pressure from society too
I actually think that first sweater is super flattering. I tend to think oversized sweaters are so cute on everyone else and feel like they make me look bigger. But it's all in my head. It doesn't make you look bigger at all!
What drives me nuts about these "rules" is that they are often contradictory. For example, you can't where a chunky sweater, but you also can't wear a tight turtle neck? Then what the are you supposed to wear?! It makes no sense. Just wear what you like on your own self.
As someone who is very thin and wears super baggy sweaters and sweatshirts literally constantly, I also like making my body appear “bigger” And I looooved that first sweater you had on
I love you Sierra. I love your confidence and the fact that you are so open about it when you don’t feel so confident. I saw your other video where you announced you have PCOS and my heart went out to you. I also have PCOS and I am struggling very much right now to live with it. I couldn’t get pregnant again (I had one daughter pretty young) and it broke my heart. I ended up having a hysterectomy by 27. The weight gain has been unbearable for me. But, it’s also the hair growth on parts of your body that you don’t want hair, and the depression. Nobody ever talks about that. Lastly, the fact that most people with PCOS tend to get Diabetes....it’s just a mess. It would be amazing if you would talk about your journey, how you are handling it, and any things you may have learned that might help. Thanks for all you do.

I know a lot of average weight girls who avoid clothes they genuinely like because they're afraid they'll look "fat".
rules:
“no tight fitted clothing”
“no oversized clothing”
THEN WHAT ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO WEAR?!?!
as a bigger person most people would rather you waste away and die so they don't have to see you anything.
Your "shame"
looser fitting clothes
Jiaxinxo but apparently they can’t wear anything loose fitting cuz they can’t wear anything oversized!!!
Pranamya Pradeep stfu🙄
If you have a large chest you are told not to wear anything high cut, low cut, baggy or form fitting. You can't win. Had a reduction for pain reasons, and that also gets judged. I feel like women can't win no matter what. I just wear whatever makes ME happy now. 🤷♀️
Exactly!! It's so stupid! Just wear whatever makes you feel beautiful, and screw the "rules"!
I'll never understand these toxic types, but you're better off without them and certainly shouldn't listen to any of them
Yep same I wear whatever is comfy and I feel good in 😁
If you can't win anyway that means you are free to do whatever you please 🙌
To the person who see this:
*You can wear whatever you feel comfortable in*
Men's pants are everything.
@Awesome Videos I have found a bunch of men's pants that have butt room. Do you get him clothes in the big and tall section? That makes a difference.
@Awesome Videos So? Look in the big and tall section. They have his size. Age doesn't matter people develop differently. I am telling you he will be way happier in clothes like that. They will fit his butt trust me. I come from tall people who shop in that section
So sweet and true ❤
*So that means I can go out naked?*
Love this series. I’d love to see you do a “breaking personal style rules” as an idea, there’s so many I impose on myself like I never wear maxi dresses because I think they make me look to tall and wide. Could be interesting to see what sort of styles and clothes you intentionally never wear or even try on.
Alli Maree +
She has another video she did on wearing "clothes I hate" that you might find interesting! But I totally agree that that's a good video idea
I'm 5'2", and I don't wear maxi dresses b/c they make me feel short and frumpy. Kind of interesting to see the other side.
Oh my God wear them! High heels aren't for me (I'm clumsy af 🤣) but they amazing on everyone ❤️❤️
I think the biggest plus size rule is NEVER wear low rise jeans
Honestly though! Not even cuz it looks bad but it's just uncomfortable with a tummy!
Those are devil's creation. It's just not comfortable. For me though. You do you 😊
Agree ! And like NO hate im a size 14 with a ugly c section stomach now lol and low rise one falls off , 2 makes your stomach look bigger , and it’s just not comfortable .! But girls ! If you Like then feel good wear it and be amazing :D to me this is personal choice lol
This applies to everyone.
I’m like smaller than a 0 and I hateeeeee low rise jeans literally they are horrible
Spring Edition:
-No maxi dresses
-No mini skirts
-No fishnet stockings
-No neon colours
-No small jewellery (something I came across/overheard in a store)
What's wrong with small jewlery?? Am I too big to be wearing a necklace??
!! I was told the same about the jewellery! If you're bigger you should wear bigger jewellery. I was like wtf.. Why? That's some real bullshit 🙄🙄🙄
Fishnets in general are a no go I feel like it doesn’t matter your size you just have to have a very specific look you’re going for to pull them off
I have tons of maxi dresses. I dont give a crap what anyone says. If I'm not suppose to wear it.. They shouldn't sell it in my size
My fat ass thighs look AMAZING in fishnet stockings!
I thought it looked great. It is all about cut and proportion.
If you ever do a part 3, try wearing low waisted jeans. I think only wearing high waisted pants is more of a plus size rule than breaking one. I understand if you dont want to, I wouldn't be caught dead in low waisted jeans, so uncomfortable and unflattering.
Irene _ I don’t like low waisted jeans because I feel like they are falling all the time and hate having to keep pulling my pants over and over.
I feel like any sane woman - plus-sized or not - should hate low waisted jeans😂
I'm not plus size and you would never catch me in a pair of low rise jeans
Irene _ I am not a plus sized person and I wouldn’t wear low rise either I just don’t like at all
@@AnnaFinke unfortunately high waisted jeans reach my bra lol. I have a short torso so I wear low rise. :/
Hayleigh S. I’m sorry that you have to go through that conquer your fears and your own rules not your mums

White clothing + peanut butter and jelly = 🤦🏻♀️
I LOVE how I look in white, but two kids and two dogs means it's not practical!
Emily Russell Same here, but my ”child” is my dog who drool on everything 😅
I never wear white because I will always end up with crap on me. So I avoid the color white completely. But that's not a plus size thing.
CantTameBeauty i dont think Sierra or the commenter meant that it was a plus size thing, more of a messy girl thing
@@jaiden494 The "color theory" is that the same object that is white will look bigger than if it is black. It's kind of an optical illusion. That said, wear what you like!
As soon as Sierra started talking about how she can't wear white because she's messy, I spilled bbq sauce on my pants.
mpaigeb261 I did the same thing with sriracha sauce... on my new all white dress... god save me

mpaigeb261 omgosh 😂😂👍🏼
I hate white cause it looks amazing on everyone but i cannot go 10 seconds without spilling something on it
I'm confused about the high waisted jeans thing because I feel like they shape your body so much and can really smooth out the stomach.
Not on everybody they don't.
Im not Curvy and Not that Thin but When I wear high waisted pants I Look like Obelix
Ikr. In my opinion for a lot of people the high wasted jeans are the best jeans for confort and asthetic

I always thought the "rule" of not wearing a turtle neck was because it makes your face look chubbier
Trinity Dutton it does :(
Trinity Dutton me too! I always thought you shouldn’t wear turtlenecks so you can avoid basically creating an arrow to your double chin
I don't wear any cause they make my shoulders super wide. I just end up looking like a dude with tits. But I guess that's swimming for ya
I think they also make your boobs look way bigger. Which is why I shy away. She may have mentioned this , I just haven’t watched the whole video yet.
I've never heard that rule, and I don't ever notice it. Though I think turtlenecks in general are strange because it makes it look like your head isn't attached to your body. 😂
this is literally how i dress on a daily basis lmao i didn't realize people thought they were unflattering clothing, their cute so who cares

I am SO EXCITED for the curly girl method vid!!
Girl, I live on the East Coast in the northern New England. When my best friend and I were in high school, we wore white puffer jackets in the snow for a mini photo shoot. @@retheply8092 I think Robyn is talking more about the rules people push where they tell skinnier girls to dress to make their chest look larger/or to appear more curvey, so a video on this would be nice to show skinnier girls that it’s okay not to have a bigger chest and that they don’t have to dress to look like they have a different body type

my mother always tells me my stomach looks big when i tuck something in. it honestly upsets me a lot.
Do it anyway girl. Besides in my opinion not tucking something in makes your stomach look big because your shirt is hanging over your stomach. But also, that's not a bad thing. your stomach is part of your body. Embrace it! ❤
My Mom always tells me not to wear certain bras because Im only 20 and I dont need my boobs hanging to the floor

I really just don’t think it’s cool to say savage and fabletics are “good deals” when you have to pay and EXTRA $30-$40 to even get the good deals...
Hannah Mashburn are you serious?? I’ve never understood how it worked
I guess because they're sponsors they have to say it's a good deal... Who knows though 🤷♀️ those prices are crazy to me.
You can get the first two pairs of leggings for $24 by becoming a vip member (free to do) and then after you just call the 800 number and unsubscribe or skip the month every month on the first so you arent charged the money. I have been doing this with Just Fab. As long as you either call and cancel or skip every month, you can get the “good deal” no problem
Funny thing is, I'm not even plus size and yet I struggle with most, if not all, of these same stigmas and insecurities. That's why I love watching you!!!
You being so confident and working through your own fears inspires me to do the same! 🧡🧡🧡
I love how you empower young girls like me to feel like I can be free in my own skin
society really out there teaching women to hate every aspect of themselves from the day they’re born huh. unlearning all of this self-loathing is difficult, but i hope that every single woman out there manages to do just that. we all deserve to live happily in our bodies and embrace them as they are, not be constantly, desperately trying to change them to fit society’s expectations. love yourselves, ladies, you are allowed to exist in this world exactly as you are. 💙
the puffer jacket outfit is adorable!
I love how it’s cold at 58 degrees in San Diego. Meanwhile in MN that’s bathing suit weather lol
Love the video!
“It’s actually pretty cold, it’s 58 degrees”
Me: *cries in 12 degree weather* 😂
Wails at -15⁰ 😆. But not really because for two weeks it was -40⁰
Crying in 113 degree weather :(
i loved the first oversized sweater 😍 it almost gives me a jedi vibe 😎 we stan!
I’ve been watching Sierras videos for 4 years now and I still love her! She’s so wise and I love the way her channel is now! She’s so inspiring !
That puffer jacket look is so iconic you look amazing and badass in it you inspire me to go get one and I've always been scared of looking too bulky in them but wow you look stunning??? can't handle it
I love white, but it’s never white at the end of the day!
Kayla Ruganis my school uniform is white and it is see through 😭
Smol Potato noo😭😭
Do you ever hang out with your friends who are thinner and get jealous because it makes you feel bigger?? This is a problem I struggle with and it has nothing to do with my friends they are amazing and I love them it’s just something I’m trying to get over. Love your video btw!! You are beautiful and I loved the look from day 2, I wear leggings with cropped sweaters and shirts all the time
Anna Mccue This happens to me all the time so you are definitely not alone in feeling like that!
I don't really know, we have different pressure from society too
i completely understand that and it always sucks being the fat one and the one who has to take the group picture
Yep. I am plus size and tall and have had many thin short friends over the years. Makes me feel like a giant.
Turtle necks give me anxiety lol I feel like I’m being swallowed by a snake!!
I actually think that first sweater is super flattering. I tend to think oversized sweaters are so cute on everyone else and feel like they make me look bigger. But it's all in my head. It doesn't make you look bigger at all!
Sierra, I'm really happy you've come to terms with being plus sized. You are seriously a beautiful woman!!
Honestly, I loved the puffer jacket and don’t even get why that’s a rule.
What drives me nuts about these "rules" is that they are often contradictory. For example, you can't where a chunky sweater, but you also can't wear a tight turtle neck? Then what the are you supposed to wear?! It makes no sense. Just wear what you like on your own self.
There’s other options other than a chunky sweater or tight turtleneck...
Hi Sierra, can you please do a video on " i dressed according to pluss size rules for a week" 😊
As someone who is very thin and wears super baggy sweaters and sweatshirts literally constantly, I also like making my body appear “bigger”
And I looooved that first sweater you had on
I love you Sierra.
