It's interesting to see how Strider has evolved over the years. Starting with cartoons, moving onto food and lego and now entering the realms of video games(which he has done a bit before). I think its quite impressive how he can cover so many topics as some content creates can't do that. Good on your strider :3

I guess it because you know some people grow out of joy of watching cartoons. I know I have. I used to love watching Steven universe , Gravity falls, StarVsevil, SpongeBob, Fairly odd, Adventure time, etc. If I was still a younger dude today I think I'd like those new toon, but I found it hard to sit down and watch them. Sometimes cartoon humor can frustrating and I feel like I couldn't give the same enjoyment as I did as someone below my 20s. I recently like Harley Quinn, but I wish they would tone the Crassness a little.
P.S. I also have a sorta TV childhood back in the day so I really wished I trade that in for friendship. So trying to better my mental health.

Weird, yes, but the gas mask game boy thing is actually brilliant. Surgery is a terrifying concept for adults, but for children it’s a literal nightmare. Letting them play their favorite video game as they’re slowly sedated keeps them calm and collected. I really like that idea.

Been using... can't remember what it's called, but it's a liquid designed for cars, comes in a can with a thin, plastic nozzle which can spray the liquid under the joy con flap. Doesn't fix the issue permanently, and when it does fix the issue for a while, I sometimes still have to put up with VERY minor drift, but nothing unbearable and it works. Point is, it's a non-intrusive, non-technical, temporary fix, so how does the gullikit stick work? Is it simple to set up?

To me, this seems like an answer manufactures had for a long time to fix drift but didn't implement because it kept production costs lower.
I mean, there had to be engineers at these companies who knew of a different mechanism to use.
But hopefully these new sticks become standard.

You can just pour isopropyl alcohol in the stick and rotate it a bit. Really easy fix. When you get stick drift, pour isopropyl alcohol in the stick area and rotate it for a bit and you’re good to go. Save that money on buying a new controller my friends unless you want multiplayer.

Joycon drift isn't just a Nintendo problem. I have my PS5 controller experience something similar with the camera. For the past couple months, it keeps going to the left after a random amount of minutes after using it. It's an on and off problem but one that is really disorienting to me, especially when doing photo mode with the games I play.

    • @HylianBean97
      @HylianBean97 ปีที่แล้ว

I don't get how these idiots think the drift defect is a Nintendo exclusive issue when it happens on other companies controllers as well, its not like Nintendo CREATED the drifting issue on purpose, it probably only happens more quickly due to how poorly executed the Joycons were designed since they're small as fuck, it's not entirely Nintendo's fault but it still kinda is and the fact these Joycons are so fucking expensive doesn't help 😑

Nintendo Switch Online is just shit, since you don’t pay for anything. Nintendo isn’t even maintaining servers or anything. All their online is done peer to peer (completely dependent on Wi-Fi). Making the connection slower. And they don’t have to spend a dime. It was free during the Wii, DS, Wii U and 3DS era. I don’t mind paying for it, if they actually enhanced the experience. But it honestly feels like the Wii U had better online.

One I had heard about was for those extremely frightening horror games, the sensor could pick up how frightened you were and make things... arguably worse. Nothing like letting a horror game know you're scared to make it make it worse.

The real reason for R.O.B. was that, because of the video game crash of '83, retailers no longer wanted to sell video games. Nintendo came up with this gimmick to originally sell the N.E.S. as an "Interactive Toy with a Robot." This ploy got the console into stores, as well as the games. Once Super Mario Bros sold like mad, retailers' mentality towards selling video games changed forever and the rest is history :)

I work in game console repair, and can shed some light on the cause of joycon drift. There's a thin metal plate on the back of the Switch's joysticks. Drift is caused by a dent forming in this plate. When the plate becomes dented, it means that there's no longer enough tension to keep the joystick centered. Unfortunately, this means that unless you have the tools to open your joycon, there isn't much you can do about drift. To avoid your controllers starting to drift in the first place, the best advice I can give is to be gentle with your joycons, and avoid pressing down on the joysticks too hard.

YES!!!! THIS IS EXCELLENT!!!! I absolutely love the video, man! Some things I want to point out (watch out, long comment):
    1) If you're wondering why the N64DD was being delayed constantly, the reality is that Nintendo was waiting for a proper install base for the system to exist, which was to have 5 Million N64s sold in Japan. However, the N64 was actually somewhat of a failure in Japan, only reaching 5 Million in 1999 and not really exceeding that number by the time it was discontinued, a byproduct of third parties leaving Nintendo for Sony and SEGA thanks to their consoles using CDs, the N64 being a hard console to develop for, and third parties hating Nintendo's censorship policies and stuff.
    2) Also in regards to the N64DD, in actuality, Nintendo was well aware of CDs being a thing developers wanted to use, but they were unsure about them because disc drives back then were very slow and, during the development of the N64, they hoped that disc drives would get faster when they actually start working on the N64... but they didn't, so they went with cartridges, but made a compromise with the Magnetic Disks, which could hold so much more than cartridges (at the time), but didn't suffer the speed issues that disc drives had. Some developers did like the Magnetic Disks, but as the N64DD's delays happened, they got cold feet and left Nintendo over it.
    3) I have to say, the CD-i section is kind-of wrong in a few areas... but to be frank, that whole story is confusing and probably should be a video in-and-of itself. For one, while Nintendo did snub Sony for Phillips, it was actually because the contract would have given Sony the lion's share of control over the product and games rather than Nintendo, hence the betrayal; it's still stupid, but it does explain why it happened. Also, it should be clear that Nintendo asked Phillips to develop the same thing they asked Sony to do earlier, which was to make a CD-based add-on for the SNES, NOT the CD-i, as that was purely a Phillips product made before Nintendo was involved with Phillips in any way. Finally, SEGA was actually on top of the world when the SNES CD was in development and would still be around for a couple of more years; actually, the SNES CD was cancelled because Nintendo saw the SEGA CD fail and wanted out, along with hardware concerns over the SNES CD working with the SNES, and Sony actually went to SEGA to try and work with them, but while SEGA of America liked it, SEGA of Japan said no, saying Sony didn't know what they were doing in gaming... oh, were they wrong...
NOTE: the SNES CD story is wild, crazy, and complicated... it's definitely worth a look into
    4) For more context on the Nintendo-based CD-i games, Nintendo only gave Phillips the license to use Nintendo characters for a few projects, with Nintendo having NO OTHER INVOLVEMENT in those games' development aside from design approvals; those games sucked mainly because Phillips hired inexperienced developers and provided shoestring budgets to make these games and didn't really care about gameplay, only graphics and technology. It didn't help that the CD-i was not really designed as a gaming device, but as a multi-media device that can do all sorts of things in an okay manner; it's actually a decent piece of hardware by itself, but terrible for game designing (especially of the Nintendo caliber)... although a high price tag is what killed that thing.
I loved the video regardless, Strider!

20:58 The GC controller port and the memory card port are both needed to play GameCube games so I think you should have just said that they cut the backwards compatibility instead of listing the 3 things as different.
You can use the GameCube controller on some Wii games but in that case you should have said (in my opinion) “the Wii mini loses the ability to play GameCube games, meaning you can no longer use the GameCube controller on compatible Wii games if you want to” or something along those lines.

  • @elijahwalton2248

After they created a competitor, they stuck with cartridges. The n64 wasn't a bad system, it was limited because the capacity was inferior compared to CD technology. But on the bright side, cartridges are much harder for kids to break so maybe that's one of the reasons they went with cartridges instead of discs for the system. Because of the lack of capacity, most games had no FMV clips soundtracks either had to be edited down or recreated from the ground up. The soundtrack for the first two Tony Hawk games had songs reworked and looped to save space and the audio soundtrack for Toy Story 2 worked the same way the Mario 64 music did.

Most of all, it pains me that we never got donkey kong country 2 like originally planned. Played under comfortable conditions, it could've been an awesome experience.

Hotel isn't half bad for an arcade style game and the prototype of Mario's wacky world's proves the cdi could make some pretty graphics, if the system were more powerful and with nintendo being more willing to guide philips through development, a decent follow up could've been made to smw1.

I don't think Nintendo sees Nintendo online as a failure because it's so forced, I have Nintendo Online + Expansion back because my Wii U broke (story bout that between the lines if you'd like to read)
    -----
I'm Canadian, I got my Wii U in Canada, my brother and I LOVED it! We never got a lot of games for it, only like 5 or 6, but we thoroughly enjoyed each game
However, we had to move to England, and we weren't leaving this Wii U behind! So we got a converter and brought it over with us, I think we had our Canadian Wii too, but that broke
On the virtual console, we bought the original Paper Mario, which my sister absolutely loved, she played it all the way through, backwards and forewards and everything
One fateful day, she asked me to hook it up! So I did, we'd moved yet again intoba smaller house so we relied on a power strip, and I plugged the step up converter, which was a bit old and sketchy at this point, into the power strip and sparks flew out of the converter box, I had NEVER moved so fast in my life
It tripped the breaker and we never got a new power cable for the WiiU
    -----
So with the access to older games, that I don't have, Nintendo Online is worth it, it's given me many good experiences with my family and friends, but it's an absolute rip off that you have to pay an extortionate amount for online play! I do like that you get DLCs with it though, but it may be cheaper in the long run to outright buy them if you buy Online a lot

For accessories, we could also add the N64DD (US and Japanese prototype), NES internet adaptor (Japanese exclusive), NES Lottery attachment (Michigan only prototype), the Wavebird (Gamecube wireless controller), and even more that I am completely spacing.
EDIT: The XBand SNES Modem (Prototype)

The mini consoles always seemed so cool to me. I have a Switch Lite now (it was a gift so I didn’t have a say. But I still love it), and my cousin a couple years ago had a Wii Mini and I just thought thought it was the coolest looking thing. Maybe it was the colours. Because like the switch lite it had more variety with the colours, and it just seemed intriguing. Colour = neutron activation sometimes for me. Maybe it’s just my way of coping for having the downgraded versions of everything. Though I also had a Wii U and that seemed like more of an upgrade than anything.

Honestly the Wii mini was a steal
Given it came with a controller and MK Wii the console was basically free

I got a switch lite because I didn't want to pay more for a future I wasn't going to use.

You were doing pretty well with most of the entries here, but then you lost me at #1... Did you do any actual research on the CDi? Cause your description of it was painfully lazy and it sounded like it was mostly based on vague assumptions you had about the CDi without actually knowing anything about it, other than what's on the surface shown in viral TH-cam videos and whatnot.
For starters, Nintendo didn't make the CDi, Phillips did obviously, you can even clearly see Phillips' company name on the console itself, and on the big flashy title screen that pops up before every single game! Nintendo's trademark logo is never shown anywhere on the console or any of the games. Also FYI Nintendo didn't make the Hotel Mario or Zelda CDi games either, in fact they had no direct involvement in the development of any of those games at all. All Nintendo did was give Phillips permission to utilize some of their IP's, and they were left in the hands of chaos.
TBH I don't think the CDi even belongs on this list, considering that it was not made by Nintendo nor does it belong to them in any way. Not to mention that whole atrocious deal with Phillips is probably the reason why Nintendo has become a lot more strict and overprotective of their precious IP's, and won't hand them out to just anyone now.
It's a shame that such a good top 10 list (with an epic guest star) was kinda ruined by a terribly lazy #1 pick... If you ever talk about the CDi again in any future videos, please do some actual research on it before writing a script and making a whole video out of it. Perhaps it'll make you appear more competent than you were at that point in this video.
I understand not including the Virtual Boy cause you've already talked about it before, but honestly I would've just left out the CDi entirely since it's technically not a "Nintendo" failure at all, and replaced it with a different subject that's more fitting, such as the Super Mario 30th Anniversary era for example, where everything felt so artificial with Nintendo enforcing these "limited time" sale windows on just about all of the games and everything they released at that time, and then they just took it all away from us and shut it all down!... TBH I think that would've made a much better pick for this list than the CDi. Maybe not as a #1 pick, but still.

31:02 you do know that Nintendo didn’t make the cdi Phillips did. Nintendo just let them use their characters.

See with the Amibos the figures themselves are overpriced where there’s people who make little cards that take up way less space than the figures and they work exactly like them. I have the ones for breath of the wild specifically and I’ve even used them with other games to get some bonuses. They’re way easier to use on the pro controller and on the rare occasion I do use the joycons. I think if Nintendo realizes hey people like buying or making these cards they’ll probably try to make them but I doubt it’s gonna happen anytime soon

Hence the reason why I sold all my amiibos, and bought a huge pack of the cards from China for like 5 bucks
Seriously, it came with like almost every Smash Bros character (up to Banjo) and they work extremely well

How fitting that this came out today as I have started playing Pokemon Red and Sun on my 3DS for the first time in almost 5 years and I have played a bit with Bayonetta 3, SSBU, AC NH, MK8D and Sonic Frontiers all on my Switch. So it was quite a Nintendo day for me.

Nintendo online xharges yearly, not monthly. I have the family membership for my family. I paid once and have us all in my little group
