I've wondered about that too but I think it's somewhat like Sora, like how only GBA, DS and 3DS have anything with Kingdom Hearts not a single full series title on a home console. @@TheMainMii I'm not the kind of person who adheres to the fan-rule that third-party characters in Smash Bros. must have a close history with Nintendo, but I feel that out of all of them, Kazuya, and by extension the entire Tekken franchise, has the least history with Nintendo. Just to compare: - Snake: the original MSX Metal Gear game had a not so great port on the NES, but it was popular enough for Konami to make an exclusive sequel, then there was Ghost Babel on the GBC, Twin Snakes on the GCN, Snake Eater on the 3DS, and a collection of various MGS games was released on the Switch; - Sonic: needs no detailed explanation, despite his origin as direct competitor to Mario, the Sonic series became present in all Nintendo consoles after SEGA became a third-party developer; - Mega Man: the series debuted on Nintendo consoles and, with the exception of the Virtual Boy, all Nintendo consoles had a Mega Man game; - Pac-Man: the original arcade game had a port on the NES and has appeared in all Nintendo consoles, save for the Virtual Boy. Not to mention that Miyamoto himself wanted Pac-Man to appear in Smash, since it's his favorite video game character and that Pac-Land was an inspiration for the original Super Mario Bros. - Ryu & Ken: Street Fighter II and its updated versions had a sold a combined total of over 12 million copies on the Super NES and the series has been present in most Nintendo consoles, with the exception of the Virtual Boy and Nintendo 64; - Cloud & Sefirot: he was probably the most controversial addition to the roster, given that it's well-known that Squaresoft cut ties with Nintendo to work with Sony and that Final Fantasy VII was the game that solified PlayStation's dominance in various regions for a long time, but the Final Fantasy series started on the NES, Cloud was featured in Kingdom Hearts: Chains of Memories on the GBA, and the original FFVII was finally released on the Switch; - Bayonetta: at this point she's an honorary Nintendo character, since Nintendo funded the development of its sequels; - Simon and Richter: Castlevania debuted on the NES and the series had a presence in almost all Nintendo consoles, and Richter's game, Rondo of Blood, had a port on the Super NES; - Joker: similar to Cloud, Joker's game of origin was on the PS3, but his series is related to the Shin Megami Tensei which had plenty of releases on Nintendo consoles, not to mention that there was Persona spin-off game featuring Joker which came out before his reveal in Smash, and P5 Royal would later arrive on the Switch, as well as some spin-offs; - Hero: the Dragon Quest series has always been closely tied with Nintendo, only VII and VIII skipped Nintendo consoles, but they were later remade for the 3DS; - Banjo-Kazooie: they don't need explanation; - Terry: just like Ryu & Ken, there were plenty of Fatal Fury games on the Super NES, as well as KoF on the Game Boy, and other SNK games featured Terry had been released on the GCN, Wii, GBA, DS and Switch; - Steve: Minecraft was ported to the WiiU, 3DS and Switch and is one of the best-selling third-party games on Nintendo consoles, Nintendo has collaborated with Minecraft in many ocassions; - Sora: yes, none of the mainline KH games are available natively on Nintendo consoles, but there's the Cloud ports, which while not the best way to play the games is something, but there were also some important spin-off games on the GBA, DS and 3DS, and there's that rhythm game on the Switch; - Kazuya: there's only 3 Tekken games on Nintendo consoles, and only 2 of them feature Kazuya, and Namco hasn't bothered releasing a Tekken game on Switch;
@@jetsto5612 yeah, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was actually featured with the WiiU's reveal. I don't know if it performed well, but being a WiiU title I don't think it did that well. I don't know why Namco didn't bothered to port it to the Switch. The Tekken series' producer, Katsuhiro Harada, has mentioned that his team tried to port Tekken 7 to the Switch, but it seems they couldn't manage to run the game at a reasonable performance, though seeing other impossible ports on Switch, I'm not too sure about that, though I've also heard that Tekken 7 run on a version of Unreal Engine 4 that's not compatible with the Switch and perhaps they didn't saw a reason to rework the game so it could run on the Switch like how Enix did with Dragon Quest XI However, in some recent interviews Harada mentioned that he'd love to bring Tekken 8 to the next Nintendo console, we'll have to wait and see if that happens
Played this for like 10 minutes when I modded my 3ds, talk about the worst way to play tekken. the 3ds dpad is crazy awful for moves like electrics or even short strings. i find it particularly strange they wanted ALL of the movie on the cart. maybe without that, they could've added an actual arcade/story mode. it is basically just tekken 6 after all.
I wasn't really aware tekken 6 was so basic? I suppose that's the right word. I think adding the movie as a novelty left the game to take a hit when it really needed more attention
@TheMainMii tekken 6 as a package actually has quite a bit. it's the first one with a story mode iirc, where you play as Lars & Alisa in a Tekken Force type of mode. I can imagine why that wouldn't make the cut but no arcade mode is crazy.
This game functioned really well and was great looking but its not something that works well on portable devices. The D pad was very hard to use for advanced techniques that are already difficult.
3DS fighting games have been crimanlly overlooked. While many of them lack content, they actually play really well. My only complaint is 3DS dpad. They're not really suitable for many traditional fighting game gesture and feel really fragile.
I'm pretty interested to take a look into some more of the fighting games on the 3DS based off this comment and others similar. I had played Street Fighter 4 3DS before but outside of that only played DoA demo through the Kiosks a couple times back in the day
As someone who at least has some knowledge of the competitive side of Tekken, 3D Prime is at the very least interesting. The unique stages are interesting and while the balancing is mostly the same as 6, there are a few balancing changes mainly to Heihachi (although IDK the full extent of the balancing changes since this game is never talked about in nerdy Tekken circles). It is an odd release which is lacking but I still find it to be an interesting piece of Tekken history which Tekken die hards never talk about.
MainMiiSwe? MainManMii? idk but tekken 3ds is yes, since my psp cant hold battery anymore but my 3ds can I play while traveling and this game is one of the most I play
This was my first handheld Tekken game since I didn't play the GBA or PSP games. I was a fan of the series before jumping into the N3DS game, but I still had fun with this title regardless. I actually thought the inclusion of the Blood Vengeance movie was nice and after watching it, not groundbreaking, but for me, it's not bad.
@@TheMainMiiMaybe on the Switch 2, Tekken 8 on Switch 2 will also mean Nintendo customization items for the characters (just like in TTT2 were characters like Paul can dress as Mario, Alisa as Zelda, Miharu as Sheik or Lars as Link) Is worth telling that the movie is supposed to be a promotional for TTT2, a game that came days later than the movie and had a demo called "TTT2 prologue" were the only selectable characters were the 4 movie's protagonists (TTT2 is also the only Tekken to this day were Alisa and Xiaoyu act like friends when in the main line they don't know about each other) So it looks like Tekken 3D Prime edition had the movie because the main point was to attract Nintendo players to buy Tekken Tag Tournament 2 that was also released on the Wii U However TTT2 only sold 2 million copies on it's run so we can conclude the promotionals for TTT2 didn't worked as expected
I might have been one of the last people to play Prime 3D Online funly enough. A friend of mine and I decided to test out the netcode for Prime 3D last year and let me tell you it was god awful. The game ran at half speed and inputs were severly delayed, truly the absolute worst of delay based netcode, it was hilarious. I dont know how they got it to work that badly, many other 3DS fighters had gotten delay based netcode to work incredibly well (SFIV 3D being a big example of this) T3D Prime Edition is ultimately a very dissapointing game, lacking in content and a reason to keep coming back to it outside of how fun Tekken is as a game. The movie is not that good either... but I will admit seeing the whole thing portably is a bit fun but theres not much else after its over. Insane how we went from a really good port of Tekken 5 DR to the PSP, which they used as the base for T6 on PSP which was a fairly good time... and then they put that on the 3DS with better visuals but with way less content... What a shame.

I remember getting this game along with Asphalt 3d for Christmas. At the time they were fun because all I had was a 3ds and a ps2 but in reality….this game was pretty dang baaaad.
Its the tekken 6 psp port but in a 3DS, the only better in graphics are the faces that are not recycled of Tekken Dark Ressurection, a lazy game definitely if you compare it by the others fighting games ports like Street Fighter IV 3Ds edition or Dead Or Alive Dimensions, especially DoaD, thats like Doa4 but inclusive a little bit better, SfIV 3ds Edition it's the same thing like Ps3 and Xbox 360 but anyways it has no less content like it had Tekken Prime Edition
Unfortunately the weakest Tekken on Nintendo by a mile for when it released and the GBA release at least added a novel mode with 3 vs 3 tag. Beyond not having a digital release, they made the wrong choice by not having 3D versions of Tekken endings in an arcade mode if they really wanted to cut corners and couldn't include make it a proper T6 port in the same way that SSF43D matched the original or DOAD managed to summarise a whole series. Even if I REALLY wanted to see a movie, I'd probably only want to see it so many times on a portable device if at all. Even if it was exclusive to that game and HD, I'd prefer it not being stuck to a game disc. By comparison, sound tests you can enjoy passively, listen to like an MP3 player or switch music around with are pretty good.
The graphics of this and Tekken 6 is impressive until you look at the PS3 and 360 originals. Do keep on saying it looks like a p s two game and that's exactly the problem. Tekken 6 looks like a HD remaster for a game that never existed.
The worst game in the franchise It’s just a port of the psp port of the port of the ps3 port of the port of the 360 port of the arcade version of tekken 6.
@@TheMainMii and Tekken 6 wasn’t even a good Tekken from the beginning. @@TheMainMii people always gonna say Tekken 4 or Tekken 6 are the worst mainline games. Tekken 4 was different and goes into a different direction with the more open stages and less upbeat ost than the previous games but the story of 4 is basically really great and people actually love it. Tekken 6 is basically too safe. It’s just Tekken 5 with better Textures (all the outfits are from tekken 5) a really useless rage system (Tekken 7 make it better with rage arts and drives) and the worst story mode in the franchise (the mode is fun but it’s just not work as the main single player mode) and the final boss sucks. - Pac-Man: the original arcade game had a port on the NES and has appeared in all Nintendo consoles, save for the Virtual Boy. Not to mention that Miyamoto himself wanted Pac-Man to appear in Smash, since it's his favorite video game character and that Pac-Land was an inspiration for the original Super Mario Bros.
- Ryu & Ken: Street Fighter II and its updated versions had a sold a combined total of over 12 million copies on the Super NES and the series has been present in most Nintendo consoles, with the exception of the Virtual Boy and Nintendo 64;
- Cloud & Sefirot: he was probably the most controversial addition to the roster, given that it's well-known that Squaresoft cut ties with Nintendo to work with Sony and that Final Fantasy VII was the game that solified PlayStation's dominance in various regions for a long time, but the Final Fantasy series started on the NES, Cloud was featured in Kingdom Hearts: Chains of Memories on the GBA, and the original FFVII was finally released on the Switch;
- Bayonetta: at this point she's an honorary Nintendo character, since Nintendo funded the development of its sequels;
- Simon and Richter: Castlevania debuted on the NES and the series had a presence in almost all Nintendo consoles, and Richter's game, Rondo of Blood, had a port on the Super NES;
- Joker: similar to Cloud, Joker's game of origin was on the PS3, but his series is related to the Shin Megami Tensei which had plenty of releases on Nintendo consoles, not to mention that there was Persona spin-off game featuring Joker which came out before his reveal in Smash, and P5 Royal would later arrive on the Switch, as well as some spin-offs;
- Hero: the Dragon Quest series has always been closely tied with Nintendo, only VII and VIII skipped Nintendo consoles, but they were later remade for the 3DS;
- Banjo-Kazooie: they don't need explanation;
- Terry: just like Ryu & Ken, there were plenty of Fatal Fury games on the Super NES, as well as KoF on the Game Boy, and other SNK games featured Terry had been released on the GCN, Wii, GBA, DS and Switch;
- Steve: Minecraft was ported to the WiiU, 3DS and Switch and is one of the best-selling third-party games on Nintendo consoles, Nintendo has collaborated with Minecraft in many ocassions;
- Sora: yes, none of the mainline KH games are available natively on Nintendo consoles, but there's the Cloud ports, which while not the best way to play the games is something, but there were also some important spin-off games on the GBA, DS and 3DS, and there's that rhythm game on the Switch;
- Kazuya: there's only 3 Tekken games on Nintendo consoles, and only 2 of them feature Kazuya, and Namco hasn't bothered releasing a Tekken game on Switch;
@@jetsto5612 yeah, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was actually featured with the WiiU's reveal. I don't know if it performed well, but being a WiiU title I don't think it did that well. I don't know why Namco didn't bothered to port it to the Switch. The Tekken series' producer, Katsuhiro Harada, has mentioned that his team tried to port Tekken 7 to the Switch, but it seems they couldn't manage to run the game at a reasonable performance, though seeing other impossible ports on Switch, I'm not too sure about that, though I've also heard that Tekken 7 run on a version of Unreal Engine 4 that's not compatible with the Switch and perhaps they didn't saw a reason to rework the game so it could run on the Switch like how Enix did with Dragon Quest XI
However, in some recent interviews Harada mentioned that he'd love to bring Tekken 8 to the next Nintendo console, we'll have to wait and see if that happens
I had played Street Fighter 4 3DS before but outside of that only played DoA demo through the Kiosks a couple times back in the day
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Maybe I’ll install this to 3DS
As someone who at least has some knowledge of the competitive side of Tekken, 3D Prime is at the very least interesting. The unique stages are interesting and while the balancing is mostly the same as 6, there are a few balancing changes mainly to Heihachi (although IDK the full extent of the balancing changes since this game is never talked about in nerdy Tekken circles). It is an odd release which is lacking but I still find it to be an interesting piece of Tekken history which Tekken die hards never talk about.
Everyone likes to gloss over a ugly duckling. But I'm glad we can all have a discussion about it.
i really like the original music from this game, sadly the music is not on Tekken 8
The streetpass theme music is awesome loved hearing it.
MainMiiSwe? MainManMii? idk but tekken 3ds is yes, since my psp cant hold battery anymore but my 3ds can I play while traveling and this game is one of the most I play
I never knew this existed but I used to play street fighter on the 3ds but tekken on the psp was better
MainManMii
This was my first handheld Tekken game since I didn't play the GBA or PSP games.
I was a fan of the series before jumping into the N3DS game, but I still had fun with this title regardless.
I actually thought the inclusion of the Blood Vengeance movie was nice and after watching it, not groundbreaking, but for me, it's not bad.
could've been the best portable Tekken to this date, if only they removed the stupid movie and spend resources and space for game modes
The world will never know. Maybe in another timeline
@@TheMainMiiMaybe on the Switch 2, Tekken 8 on Switch 2 will also mean Nintendo customization items for the characters (just like in TTT2 were characters like Paul can dress as Mario, Alisa as Zelda, Miharu as Sheik or Lars as Link)
Is worth telling that the movie is supposed to be a promotional for TTT2, a game that came days later than the movie and had a demo called "TTT2 prologue" were the only selectable characters were the 4 movie's protagonists (TTT2 is also the only Tekken to this day were Alisa and Xiaoyu act like friends when in the main line they don't know about each other)
So it looks like Tekken 3D Prime edition had the movie because the main point was to attract Nintendo players to buy Tekken Tag Tournament 2 that was also released on the Wii U
However TTT2 only sold 2 million copies on it's run so we can conclude the promotionals for TTT2 didn't worked as expected
Tekken 3d was a tekken 6/tag 2 transferable through those 2.. that said, this game was terribly bare booooonessss
They could have added something more
@@TheMainMii I agree I bought Dead or Alive dimensions before Tekken and that game had so much content compared to Tekken 3D
I dont know how they got it to work that badly, many other 3DS fighters had gotten delay based netcode to work incredibly well (SFIV 3D being a big example of this)
T3D Prime Edition is ultimately a very dissapointing game, lacking in content and a reason to keep coming back to it outside of how fun Tekken is as a game.
Thank you for such a solid breakdown of your experience online. Utterly disappointing but still great to hear from first hand experience!
I only care about online,other modes i will get boted after playing once or practice mode,i play survival mode nowadays in 3ds coz no online matches r found ❤
You go play story games which u like, don't review a genre u don't like
Soriyaa
I remember getting this game along with Asphalt 3d for Christmas. At the time they were fun because all I had was a 3ds and a ps2 but in reality….this game was pretty dang baaaad.
everything made sense when you admitted to being a lili main
@@redthecollector everyone has to have a favorite
@@TheMainMii haha, fr. solid video , man ! :)
@@redthecollector thanks so much! Really appreciate the support!
1v1 me little boy put u in da ground mishima only
Hahaha you probably would I'm no tekken expert 🤣

@@coldlfusion593 I can't always be the best in the room 🤷♂️
This went from an overview to a review unexpectedly. Not my cup of tea.
The graphics of this and Tekken 6 is impressive until you look at the PS3 and 360 originals. Do keep on saying it looks like a p s two game and that's exactly the problem. Tekken 6 looks like a HD remaster for a game that never existed.
Who knows they did make 4 and 5 for the Ps2. And could have easily been working on a PS2 version before scrapping it and bringing it to HD consoles
The worst game in the franchise
It’s just a port of the psp port of the port of the ps3 port of the port of the 360 port of the arcade version of tekken 6.
Sounds like a lot of porting
@@TheMainMii and Tekken 6 wasn’t even a good Tekken from the beginning.
All this job because namco started a partnership with Nintendo with games like Project X Zone, Pokkem Tournament and Smash Bros.
The best fighting game on the 3DS is Dead or Alive Dimension. It’s the Itagaki Xbox DOA titles as but as an Everyone is Here and a good story mode.
Based on the comments here it I've learned tekken 6 wasn't THAT ONE. I didn't realize Namco made a partnership though when you look at it based on the games they dropped on Nintendo around this time it definitely makes more sense they would have.
I was always interested in DoA on 3DS so maybe sometime in the future that will be something I look at
@@TheMainMii people always gonna say Tekken 4 or Tekken 6 are the worst mainline games.
I honestly think Tekken 4 is Underrated and 6 is the Black Sheep.
Yeah Namco in the early 10s really was working a lot with Nintendo.
You really need time check DOA on the 3DS is better than owning all the games on Xbox.
@@BensyBens agree with you completely. Love Tekken 4, hate 6 tbh. It's my least favorite next to the first lol
Also yeah, DOA Dimensions is really solid.
this game is just a worse version of tekken 6 for psp
This game is for best only for practice purposes. Content wise, very ass. Stages and OST are lit tho.
I'm mostly a Tekken player, but I think SSF4 3D Edition is the better 3DS fighting game than Tekken 3D. 🫤
I might have to agree with that
Definitely an easy choice - SSFIV not only had bigger stuff to do with touch screen for beginners (imagine having to teach someone how to do the three button ultra combos on a 3DS lol) but also being essentially the whole thing in the 3DS in modes compared to this.
