Lilkovo In Bulgaria is a mountain village in southern Bulgaria. It is one of the highest settlements in Bulgaria. It is also one of the largest villages by land area in the Rhodope Mountains. Lilkovo is a very old settlement, entirely Christian. During Turkish slavery, it had a mixed population - Christians and Muslims and was called Demirjiköy /iron village/. It was freed from Ottoman rule on January 31, 1878. In the years after the Liberation, the Bulgarian-Mohammedans gradually emigrated. Its rounded ridges, peaks, and slopes are covered with extensive coniferous forests, in the lower part with beech, dotted with sunny meadows, fragrant with flowers and aromatic herbs and countless cold clear springs
In the center of Lilkovo is the large and beautiful stone church "St. Archangel Michael". It was built by Hadji Georgi from Kosovo, the "chief carpenter" of Rupchos, and was opened in 1859.

Welcome To Mr & Mrs B in Bulgaria :)
We love travelling and discovering new places and meeting new people from all around the world. Currently travelled to 50 different Countries and Islands (Just hit the milestone). Living and working in the UK's "Hamster wheel" was proving more and more difficult to carry on doing this. Our lives were disappearing in front of our eyes. We decided to move to Bulgaria with a 2-year plan. Our plan (God willing) is to rent for 2 years whilst discovering Bulgaria and her surrounding neighbours. Once we have fully discovered Bulgaria and learnt her language, traditions, and cultures, we will buy our "Home" in an area where we feel comfortable. I think the biggest problem is the houses are empty due to not finding the correct owner to sell them ... its complicated 😞
