Just want to say what a great channel you have created! The cinematography is great and the very minimal talking along with the on screen commentary about what is taking place is great. Proud to see your such a good Dad as well and work diligently to feed your family. You are the kind of person that strengthens a nation and produces good children! Keep up the good work, I always learn something from each of your vids....
My fuel pump stopped working on my 2006 xterra, But, before i would pull the tank out i checked fuses too, then with eng. off but key in on position i listened for fuel pump humm at tank which normally you can hear. Which i could not this time, now reaching my hand up into the tight space at top of tank i grabbed hold of the fuel pump "connector" and wiggled it and behold fuel pump started working! The pins on connector were losing contact! Fuel pump was good! Put some conductive graphite grease in the pins, snapped it back on and its been working for 7yrs now, no problems!
Great job! I'm having a fuel level problem on a 06 nissan frontier. I've been reading customers with same kind of truck or suv having fuel sending unit problems, fuel gauge not working right. Best way to fix is change everything including fuel pump. Thanks for the video, keep em coming.
@Fix It Angel, this looked like a tough job by yourself. If I lived in your area I would of helped. I’m glad you were able to get the car started. Congrats on these videos! Keep it up!
My dodge avenger fuel pump replacement story: it gave me indications for a month, and did not fail suddenly. The car was wasn’t starting quickly, the vehicle was using less gas than normal, and the scanner showed a lean. Plus the vehicle has 250k miles. Never shop at local parts places: autozone pumps started at $300. I bought one at rock auto for $140, and it was a higher quality part. The fuel pump assembly is accessed from under the back seat, no gas tank removal required. So I did the repair, the car runs perfect now and I saved a ton of money doing it myself.
You made this look so easy. I know if it were me sooo many bad words would be flying around. OK, when you had the gas tank down why didn't you clean it out so the tank would not have nasty stuff in it. I do not go anywhere much during the month , so I don't put more than 25 bucks in gas a month. This gets me down to empty before I put 25 more in. So with not much in the tank I guess with age and trash in the tank from sitting empty so much I think the fuel pump is about done in my truck. So you made a wonderful video of what needs to be done to fix this monster of a problem. Without a fuel pump your traveling days are k- put. I'll get mine fixed ASAP. . REAL A GREAT VIDEO ON THIS REPLACEMENT. 👏👏👏😃❤️
New sub, great video and great work and I look forward to watching more. I just wanted to say that there’s a much much easier way to get to the fuel pump than taking off the tank and all the lines and the drive shaft but I watched it done to a 2007 pathfinder. He lifted the middle/back seat (directly behind drivers seat) and he cut the carpet and then he cut the metal flooring in the shape of a U. It’s exactly right under there.
Really like your videos. Your real and swear like a sailor when you get gas in your eye like a normal human being. I’m about to climb under my pathfinder and replace the fuel pump. It’s nice to know what’s gotta be done Before you even start... keep me coming!
Great job Angel!!! Thanks for posting this video. You have helped me and countless others save time & money. I am forever grateful. I especially like the tooling information( subtitles); this was extremely helpful. Please keep posting car fix-it tutorials. You are doing a great service to the TH-cam community.
This is the best video for Xterra fuel pump replacement on youtube. Thank you for taken your time to created this video. Please keep up the good work. 👍🏻💪🏻
I need to do this for my 02 Nissan Titan. Fuel gauge is not accurate at 1/4 tank or less. I ran out of gas several times. Bigger job than I really like to do but your video does help. I like the way you put it together. It's the true way it would really go out in the driveway. Thanks!
Long story short - Had at least a year old problem 06 Sentra 1.8 L and took it to a couple shops and didn't fix it . It was not revving up no matter if i floored pedal . It was gas pump and I went to junk yard got it for $34 including warranty . That was yesterday now running like a champ like new !! Yeah at very beginning suspected it might be pump but went with shop's recommendation . I trouble shooted it myself
For those of you with the Gen 2 Frontiers that have had the fuel pump fail...did you have a period of time (before it failed for good) that your truck would randomly go dead while going down the road, but you could crank it right back up? My 2006 4.0 did this for at least 2 years before the fuel pump finally went out. It wasn't often, but about one a week it would randomly just die sitting at a stop light or even going down the road, and I'd just pop it in neutral and crank it right back up. In hindsight, I'm pretty sure now that was the early stages of the fuel pump failing.
Sounds like a bad crankshaft position sensor. I had very similar problems in my 2011 frontier and after reading a few posts on clubfrontier I replaced my crankshaft position sensor and have not had an issue since.
I just had to do this on my Focus a month or 2 ago, it must be nice to live in a place where rust doesn't cover everything on the underside of a vehicle body. I have the misfortune of living in the midwest, rust-belt USA, I like your adapter you made for the floorjack to help with the tank; I wish I'd have thought of that at the time
Also, awesome video I love guys like you that do all that extra work to teach by filming and editing all that stuff there’s a handful of things I could film to teach others but I’m too lazy and don’t wanna be on camera plus I’d feel like an idiot knowin there’s a million other ppl that could do it better than me so god bless you TH-cam teachers for real
What year is this Nissan Xterra? I watched a video of a fuel pump replacement on a 2003 Nissan Xterra and according to that video the pump was accessible through the passenger side back seat! Just hadda mention it because after I do this one it'll be 3 different ways that I've replaced fuel pump's! One by dropping the tank, another by raising the side of a pickup truck bed, and now this one by going through the back seat. Kudos for the detailed video though. I watch these types of videos like some folks watch their favorite TV shows.😂
Darwin W thank you Darwin, I don't like doing it too. But I had to do it. I did a Range Rover a month ago. I didn't have to drop the tank. The pump was under the rear passenger seat. Only thing hard was pulling it off and installing it. I will put up a video. Hopefully soon. Thank for watching
Fix It Angel my 01 Nissan Xterra broke down like 3montsh ago on the highway it said it was my fuel sending unit I swapped it out replaced it an my Xterra still doesn't start any advice?
I had to do a fuel pump job on a 2010 camaro. dropping the entire rear and suspension wasn't an option; I'm not taking 8 hrs to do a stinking fuel pump job. I used an air nibbler to cut a panel under rear seat. (No Sparks). 2 hr job total. customer was happy with the price and was ok with the repair method. most cars have access panel, just some dickhead engineers or manufacturers don't add some.
Well made video man, you have my thumbs up. Now if you have an older model like mine (2002) that has plenty of rust i wouldn't recommend you to try it yourself because the first stripped bolt will be just the beginning of your major headache.
Awesome. I'm certain my 2006 Frontier has just had the same problem. While I'm certain it's the fuel pump, now I know where to find the relay and fuse thanks to you. Only thing I disagree with is NOT opening the butterfly to spray in starting fluid. It needs alittle opening to get the starting fluid in there.
Great video or footage of those hard-to-reach areas, specifically those pesky, difficult-to-release clips. Question: Can the tank be lowered and removed without having to remove the drive shaft? Thanks.
Good video. Only wished to note : - a) There is sometimes a much easier access to the in-tank pump provided on some cars, usually via a small removable panel cut into the floor under the rear seat - may need to look first to avoid so much work! - b) On several cars the fuel pump is NOT in-tank, but located up on the engine (actually sometimes iNSIDE the engine - requiring partial engine disassembly to access). Also some cars may also have two pumps (one at each point in-tank (lifter) and engine (high pressure) ) like on some Diesel Nissans. If these latter is the case, this job becomes a whole lot harder and far more costly (due to labour/time needed) !!!
hello joss, thank you for the comment. a while back, a mechanic had comment here before telling me i am an idiot and said there is an access panel to the fuel pump from the passenger back seat. Little did he know that it was the older model Xterra's that had the access panel and not the newer models. i told him to check his online repair manual. he knew i was right because he deleted his comment immediately. he knew now he was the idiot.
why can't Nissan just pop a hole under their back seat like any other manufacturer could've made this fix 2 hours cheaper :D galing idol! I'll binge watch your playlist, could learn a thing or two
Great video, no bs, done right. Not my year car but was still worth watching. I gotta get me some long wrenches like that, instead of constantly using the double wrench cheater bar method.
I didnt take out the driveshaft when i replaced the fuel pump sender on my x, but that fuel pump connector took me 30min to take off. Literally no room and u can barely see it. All done by feel.
@@lolouro2266 Yeah. I gotta do this fuel pump job too. Im gonna take the drive shaft out cause itll make it easier and plus it is in the factory repair manual after all.

Thanks for shooting this video. I was able to swap out my fuel pump on a '06 Pathfinder after seeing this. Problem I have now is it is difficult to fill the gas tank. The fuel is backing up the tube and shutting off the nozzle even with a very low setting. Ever had this problem? Thinking a vent line is plugged or kinked maybe??
I just cut an acess hole under rear seat behind driver side , right over the pump , sealed and screwed down cover plate, good to go. Much easier than dropping tank, so if it goes when on the road its a quick fix, also carry spare new pump all the time.
Thanks to this video I was able to feel confident enough to remove my own gas tank and replace my fuel pump. Thanks a lot. Can't get over the farting 🤣

I made a hatch door on my xterra over the tank . Under rear seat easy to change fuel pump now.
You show how the clips are removed, most valuable. Thank you! I wonder if new clips can be bought from Nissan? Plastic here gets brittle.
