  • Although it sounds like science fiction, the technology already exists to create weapons that can attack targets without human input. Paul Scharre, a leading expert in emerging weapons technologies, draws on deep research and firsthand experience to explore how these next-generation weapons are changing warfare.
What are the ethical implications of autonomous weapons? Can artificial intelligence adequately mirror human judgement?
Paul Scharre is a former U.S. Army Ranger who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is the director of the Technology and National Security Program at the Center for a New American Security.

I look at these so called modern weapons as slightly more sophisticated bear traps; if you see them this way, then you will realize it is absurd to shift the moral responsibility from the humans that deploy such weapons to the weapon itself. The drone itself has no desire to kill; it has no conscience and no enemies. The people developing and deploying these weapon systems bear the full moral responsibility for any human casualties.

Is American People's choice to escape from responsibility, definitely they think that can lead responsibility for war to robots.

@ Dmitry Ofitserov: The 'American People' do not now know what's really happening with extensions of power and force and will not ever know. This show is meant to direct the conversation, to ask the questions that matter little, so as to deflect from asking what matters.
