As a Chinese, I'm astonished by the ignorance but I appreciate his creativity in "history making". This man is fabricating stories out of nowhere, to understand China, you need to understand its geography and then its history, and its people. This man understands nothing of them. He just pulling all pieces of limited knowledge he could find on Google together and regurgitate them to the elderly nationalistic audiences, and telling them things like "one child policy is to control the population of peasants so they cannot rebel", that is the funniest thing I've ever heard from a China bashing story.

The CCP is not militarizing the South China sea out of any fear of Taiwan. China needs to control the South China sea because virtually it's entire economy is based on sea trade lanes which are dominated by their rival - the US. This is also why China is pursuing it's silk road initiatives - to open alternative trade routes that don't go through the naval bottleneck.

OMG this guy knows nothing about China & Russia. He is just expressing his biased opinions and there is little to no factual understanding of anything. He's knowledge base is based on 30 years old "novels" and a very Anglo-centric view of the world. The problem is the world is changing very quickly and is moving into a more Asia-centric period.
Keep thinking like this guy, the USA will definitely get left behind. it's not China or Russia that the USA need to worry about. Right now it's the lack of long term thinking and leadership in the USA that is the main problem (e.g. education, future planning (IR 4.0) & ...). He is probably playing to the audiences as well. Looks like they are mostly retired people and many of them still have the old cold war thinking.
The reality is, right now most average Americans see most things as threats and the average Chinese see most things as opportunities. America, China & Russia at this point in time are like the British, America & Germany in the 1930s. I'll let you work out what this comparison means.

China is in many respects in the same boat as the Soviets. No accountability, terrible corruption, and a fantastically bloated state industry that responds to no market corrections.

It’s not just the US, the EU needs to have an internal R&D budget in terms of new technologies such as but not limited to Artificial Intelligence, develop new technologies to create new sources of energy and to move away from the petrol industry. Atm the EU imports 55% of its energy needs.

It very easy to turn a comunist into a fascist as voting records in Germany in 1932, 1933 shows, comunist and nazis were fighting for the same electoral clientele. Despite the egalitarian goals of comunism that are not shares by fascists, they are both authoritarians that price the state over the individual. So once the left wing egalitarism of comunist dies, you end up with a fascist.

Infrastructure can be built. Back to the 80s in the beginning of the opening up, China was like India now, by becoming a manufacturing base to the world and practised not fair trade deal as a developing country has earned huge foreign currency for China, that’s how they have money to build infrastructures. This formula India can do the same with its huge population bonus!

Some things agree, but many things I do not. I don't think this guy even reads Chinese. If he can read all the historical text in the thousands of books of the Kangxi encyclopedia, then come back and lecture. Most of this stuff is anecdotal coming from secondary or tertiary sources. I think Joseph Needham has more authority to lecture about Chinese history than this guy does. At least Needham spent most of his life living in China, reading the old historical documents. This guy was an ex-banker living in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is only a small portion of China. His experience may differ from the rest and other parts of China of the interior. It's like me having hearing a few stories from my Jewish friends and give a lecture about the entirety of Jewish history and civilization. He can fool the old senile elderly folks in that room, but not the literati gentry.

The tone of his voice said a lot, seldom have I heard such disdain from someone when talking about other countries. And very little of academic level, the choice of words was sloppy, to say the least. Beijing fears the Uygurs, sure, FEAR of a tiny minority in a sea of Chinese Han. They might be concerned but fear no. They have no real reason to, its not that the whole of that minority is up in arms. This level of presentation, too bad, I came to listen to something informative.

If one were to trust his approach to save the US, one would rather go along with Navarro. This dude doesn't know what he was talking about. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

David Goldman. having this sort of man acting as an China expert, talking absolute rubbish about China, this led to the Americans or a generation of Americans that will never understand China and Chinese people. Do you need 7 years of education to read Chinese books ? Absolutely not. I was able to read 120 chapter of Romance of Three Kingdom as an 8 years old barely 2nd year into my primary school education.

David Goodman frequently in trying to put his points across to a largely white and old audience simplified things too much. To the point he loses credibility.

Very disappointed to hear his ignorance about China and Hong Kong and the people there. He just pretends to be an expert but he actually knows just something about them and expands them to his own truths which are pathetic.

There's a different set of curses and hate if you have a Jewish name or are known to be Jewish. Notice they call him "global" this that etc. on the hate comments, if he wern't Jewish there would be different comments if any hate at all.

This is just a historical reminder and has no pejorative religious value! There was a slogan during Nixon years and in relation to Vietnam War. I believe it was attributed to Henry Kissinger. "Peace through Strength." After the Gulf war George H.W. Bush said: "What we say goes!"
The new occupant of the White House threatened a Sovereign Member of the United Nation, while addressing the General Assembly of the UN, with "Fire and Fury" and total annihilation in 2017. And now the rhetoric of the neocons is nothing less than "Submission through Subservience." Now, forgive me for reminding you that Mr. Henry Kissinger has come to the White House several times to discuss matters of geopolitical importance with the President and was videoed with President by the media. Mr. Kissinger and Wolfowitz and Bolton are proponents of the new view of the world as expressed by the Neoconservative ideology .
I am sure the religious affiliation of the first two consultants to the President is coincidental but you must admit that it is highly unlikely that it is a simple coincidence with only pure ideological view of the world. I'd like to think well of people but I am reminded routinely that "Bears relieve the.selves in the woods!"

The US racial divisions are far greater than the Han Chinese provincial divisions. Han Chinese provincial divisions take about a week to resolve when put in the same room. Han Chinese look exactly the same, they are genetically the same, their Confucian values are exactly the same and the goal, intelligence and social values are the same. US Racial divisions haven’t been solvable in 400 years. Because none of the things I listed are the same. China has been around for 4,000 years. It will outlast the US for sure. Bet on it.
