Had the same problem with my P105-K. I asked Jake of Canadian Cutting Edge and he told me to put it in boiling water. I did not boil the knife. I boiled water first and then turned off the flame and dunked the knife. I also removed the blade, pivot and bearings first. It worked.
You are your biggest critic. Seriously you almost had me feeling like I had to defend you from yourself hahaha. Being able to go back and watch yourself grow must be nice though.
I KNEW IT! I stripped the screws of my Ruike p865 because they thread-locked it and the youtubers that reviewed the knife had no problems with thread-lock. It's bad quality control.
I took apart my cold steel code 4 and I think it was blue locktite on the pivot and now I can't get the pivot back together and the loctite won't come off no matter what I try, I'm at the point of contacting cold steel and seeing if I could get a replacement pivot.
How long have you been using it,for it to have blade play and what not..?..cos first introductory video and disassembly both published on the same day..
I would give it a tap then use heat. I don't have steadiest hands either. Most of the time it's a light tap and it releases. Just my humble opinion. Great video as all ways, thanks Nick
I just put the knife in my toaster oven on a low setting for a few minutes when I encounter high strength threadlocker. The soldering iron trick never worked for me. Oven works great; keep the temp low.
BTW, My O. hummelincki Octopus was very smart, she'd even come of her cave to stick on the glass and watch TV when I turned it on in same room as tank.
Nicholas Wilson I’m sorry to hear that other Nicholas. The next step is to send the knife back to the manufacturer, if they have a warranty program that is
it's probably pronounced something like rwu-ooi ke but my Mandarin is really bad. on the "ke" the tone is sharp and descending if that makes any sense at all.
That made me laugh... silent ‘L’ in almond, salmon etc., but spoken in solder.. as a born again, evangelical pedant, I always grimace at American pronunciation (usually the butchery of chassis and chamfer), but it’s great to hear you t least know your wrong! 😉😃
I hate it when the grind isn't symmetrical. You can't center the blade without the point being offcenter. Can't center the point without the blade being offcenter. Drives me nuts.
That is a really nifty way to deal with thread locker. Glad I get to watch this episode. Thank you.
Had to deal with some overly aggressive thread locker a couple days ago and this is the exact solution I decided to try, worked like a charm.
Thanks Nick, I was wondering how to properly use a soldering iron on scale screws...aaaaand now I know.😊

Thanks dude, a few screws on an old Buck folder were giving me trouble and this loosened them right up

Your disassemble videos are the best out there... ty...
Don't thread on me!

It's a 40$ mass produced knife
@@macnitro902 and...? Red thread lock or too much thread lock is a choice. Civivi doesn't do this at the same price.
If civivi or we knives started making flashlight the quality would probably be sub par compared to let's say Fenix
Thanks for showing this. I’ve ruined quite a few screws
I think being an octopus would be like having eight really long sticky fingers. Id rather keep my regular human hands.
BoltFalco47 Also, all of those fingers would have their own brains :)
Oh snap, Nick dropped an HBO word.
Really awesome reviews!!!

Well done, Nick! Those are some good looking scales!!

Thanks for the video.
In all your equipment vids, I can’t remember you saying where exactly your work mats are from. Got any recommendations?
Is it possible to separate the liner from the scale? I need to use up my frog lube. Thx for vid.

Have you had any issues with the ifixit tools? 😊
Hey Nick. What if I've already striped the screw (#notabrilliantman), how do I get it out?
Adam Special pliers called Vampliers do it. But then what do you replace them with lol
BTW, My O. hummelincki Octopus was very smart, she'd even come of her cave to stick on the glass and watch TV when I turned it on in same room as tank.
You should pick up a TS100 soldering iron. You can get them for about $30 and they're absolutely amazing! Even the mythbusters guy swears by them
Nice work !!!
What was the name of that Kizer?
Almost never got the soldering iron trick to work myself. Permanent thread locker is the bane of my knife life. 😕
Nicholas Wilson I’m sorry to hear that other Nicholas. The next step is to send the knife back to the manufacturer, if they have a warranty program that is
Nick Maccioli always an option, thanks but I’d really like to get the hang of doing it myself.
Nicholas Wilson I absolutely agree! The soldering iron I use has a needle tip and it works for me. I hope you find a solution soon! 🙂
Real high strength thread locking compound (Loctite 271 for example) melts around 450º F.
Boy, I'm sure you're used to it, but that mat has gotta smell like alcohol.
Love the scales on that knife BTW.
Would a hair dryer, work?
Yep...
I’ve always used the liquid blue 242 and found it to be about as effective as water unless I apply to the entirety of the thread
hmmmmm. not my experience at all
Do you let it cure for 24 hours? Only time I've had issues with the Blue was my first time when I didn't let it sit and fully cure.

I use my heat gun. Works too.

Why does isopropyl alcohol have an expiration date? Yours is expired by the way lol
Octopus! Snort Ha ha ha.
They should just take the i out of Ruike.
Id have to re-purchase a few knives but phuck it.
Bad quality control, the knifes not usually thread lock shut
Lari Vasara It couldve been that the one who put that knife together, put too much on it!

@spyderco 🙄🙄
Spyderco stopped using permanent threadlocker a LONG time ago
@@xDarkPrototypex I thought taking apart a Spyderco voided warranty ?
No, Spyderco fixed their warranty and stopped using Loctite around a year ago.
