@@GhostOfBuscemi while I like Roguetech, sadly you need a really good PC to play it. 3062 is a good middle ground, between Commanders extended and Roguetech, and most decent PC's can run it.
The Mist Lynx B is goshdarn terrifying. It will outgun most Inner Sphere mediums of the era, and do so while outrunning most Inner Sphere lights of the era to boot.
I've long been a fangirl of the Timberwolf. But yesterday, I decided to give the Mist Lynx MLX-G(T) trial mech in MWO a run. THIS MECH SLAPS!!!!! The enemy entered with 2 King crabs..... And ended up short a base.
I like the Koshi configuration that has the ER Large Laser as it's main armament backed by the ER Medium Laser. A Pulse Laser configuration should have been made for fielding at some point.
As always, your lore bits make the mech more interesting and explain some design factors, which the smarter players will hopefully take away with them. The Koshi earned my respect when I looked up the details after reading about its use by a Republic commander in a Dark Age novel. The basic Koshi packs a wallop equal to a 35-ton light mech (or some 40-ton mediums) on a bug mech sized frame, about as fast as a Locust, with fibro-ferrous armor and narrow quirk helping shave hits down to survivable. The improved sensors are an ambush finder and a great means of keeping track of battlemechs that are not in direct sight. (I don't care what game mode you're using, that is a real edge for anyone not using Zerg Rush tactics.) That more than makes up for the mere 6-hex jump (snicker) or loss of speed in hindering terrain. Cry me a river Clanners, this Koshi smokes all the Inner Sphere bug mechs in their chosen area of expertise! (And how many light mechs can actually force a piloting check with a high missile cluster strike? Without risking their entire beings if the cluster rolls stink?) The Koshi benefits from optional configuration types which actually have a purpose. Many Clan options seem to be random assortments of guns and missiles, with little thought to purpose other than "muh throw weight". The Koshi's need for economy forces some thought put into them, which makes it one of the best optional omnimechs. Config B takes the Javelin's role of short-range slugger and does it with greater confidence. Config E does the same thing with a tech upgrade. Config G was definitely the result of pilot feedback concerning IS tactics of harassing scouting lances with light armor and infantry trained to fight mechs. Clan J is some shrewd marketing by Clan Sea Fox, since their upgrade plays to the Koshi's strengths and makes it less likely to explode, which in the sparse times of the Blackout means much. My favorite alts are Config A and D. The A type is a spotter scout's dream ride, with improved sensors and a TAG allowing for prime target identification, with weapons and defensive systems letting it survive interception by IS light units and attempted counter-battery by annoyed missile boats. Config D has the rare Ultra AC 2, which allows the Koshi pilot to become a "quit poking me" annoyance of the first order.
The Mist Lynx is better armored than many Inner Sphere lights of the same relative size, and has better punch for that size. I've used a Mist Lynx several times and always to great effect. Their Omni configuration allows for Battle Armor transport, which effectively adds armor during transport. Once deployed, many foes worry more about the BA than the Lynx, so this combo maximizes both it's nature, movement and firepower at a bargain price in BV.
I think one of the reasons I like the Inner Sphere videos better is there is always more historical background on testing, manufacturing, fitting roles..etc. That being said, you gotta know your enemy so keep bringing the Clan Mechs to light and keep highlighting their weaknesses. Great video, Red.
While I like the mech, kind of prefer the Kit Fox and Cougar for Clan lights. But, that might just be bias from using them alot in MechCommander and MW4 Mercs.
In MWO this mech is a nightmare to hit if your mech doesn´t have any lasers. But the legs are quite easy taken even with medium lasers, they have only limited armor. Though that´s the case with all light mechs. Personally i like the mech, and the artwork is usually good for it.

It's best benefit is that it's cheap by clan standards, and packs more reliable punch than the Fire Moth. It dies easily, but it will at least be a threat after it drops off it's elementals. ~~900 BV is a steal by clan omni standards.

Players are all up in arms about the Koshi not having a built in jump 7? And none of the loadout packages add a jump jet? You know, jump jets can be installed in omni-pod space. Me personally? I'm miffed that 6 jump jets are permanently bolted to this frame. The Koshi could of had 3 extra tons of pod space and players could choose to add 3.5 tons of jump jets or use that extra tonnage to add horrific amounts of firepower to a 25 ton mech. The Commando doesn't have jump jets, moves slower and yet is still lauded as one of the best 25 ton inner sphere mechs ever created. Add a new configuration. 1 jump jet, 1 ER PPC, 1 additional double heat sink. Heat neutral, all range light mech. 7 jump and no reason not to use it every turn. This is bringing a gun to a knife fight.

I really hate that ATMs have a damage grouping of 5 instead of 6 (which would make much more sense mathematically as all its ammo types can produce hits of 6 damage theoretically), ot working like MMLs and having a grouping of 6/6/3 or something
As much as I love the knife-fighter setups like the MLX-G, they're difficult to brawl with. I have far more success skirmishing with SRMs or ATMs and dunking on enemies over cover. If you're flying at awkward angles the poor laser hit registration on airborne targets makes it so that even the 10% of enemies capable of hitting such a small flying target still won't do much damage while you rack up constant alpha strikes each jump.
