    I think Honda needs to do a TSB and cover the repair for it. I don't believe a full on recall is necessary. It seems some of them at random didn't get enough sealant as mine has not had this issue. But seeing as you, Gus and now Burch? It needs to be covered.

    • @QuasiMotard

    I like the 180 degree rear view mirror, are there any problems in the sun with reflections?

    • @QuasiMotard

      Not at all... the convex shape minimizes reflections from bright lights (makes them smaller). It's an indispensible tool, in my opinion! Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    Who makes your mirror on your windshield and how did you put it on? Thanhs Hank Knapp.

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Howdy, Hank! That's the RiderScan Blindspot Mirror: amzn.to/3nJjXLp . If that one is out of stock, then there are several knock-offs that are cheaper and seem to work almost as well. You can search Amazon or Ebay for "parabolic blindspot mirror" to find alternatives.
      Installation is simple with the included 3M VHB tape. You need about 3-4" of empty vertical windscreen space to install it, so this Daytona Blast Barrier screen on the Rebel allows just enough room for the RiderScan to fit.
      This mirror really helps situational awareness in traffic. There is a learning curve to use it properly because the image is distorted by the mirror's convex shape, but it becomes second nature after a few hours of riding. It's very rare for me to be caught off-guard with a cager hiding in my blind spot while I'm riding with one of these mirrors. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    Is that the “rider” style seat or the “forward” and how do you like it? I am 5’10 220 and seriously debating a Rebel DCT. Thanks for the quality content 🤘Currently ride a Vespa 300

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is the Honda "custom forward" seat that's available from their online accessory catalog. It has a more pronounced seat cup that holds the rider in position better than the original flat seat. I don't notice much "forward" push, but it's supposed to move the rider 1.0-1.5" closer to the handlebars.
      I'm 5'7", 170 lbs riding weight, and it fits me well. For your 5'10" height, the "forward" seat might not be as comfortable, but the Honda "custom" seat has the same stitching. At only $99/each, these Honda seats are cheap enough to experiment with. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    I haven't heard of the bike burping gas before so there could be a problem somewhere?

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unknown. I've always noticed that my Rebel tends to sweat out the overflow hoses when parked in the hot summer sun, so it leaves small oily-fuel spots under it after a few hours. Colder temperatures and when it's parked in the shade doesn't seem to make it sweat like that. 🤷‍♂️ --QM

  • @photoenduro

    I am disappointed that oil leaks on a modern Honda machine, it is unacceptable for this price compared to say a RoyalEnfield which is twice the price.

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agreed. Unfortunately, Honda hasn't worked out those minor kinks for this motor. It's used in the Africa Twin, the Rebel 1100, and the NT1100 (in the EU/UK markets), so they've had plenty of time to improve their assembly processes.
      Luckily, the leak is a minor issue to resolve with more silicone sealer. Unluckily, for those owners who aren't covered by warranty, the fix requires removal of the stator cover to re-seal the cable grommet from the inside. My bike was covered under extended warranty, but other owners haven't been so lucky. 😉👍 --QM

    • @photoenduro
      @photoenduro 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@QuasiMotard thank you for your reply. I agree with you, but it doesn't matter to me whether it's covered by a warranty or not, it's a matter of quality and trust in a company. I have a cb500x, first service in Honda, I did everything myself for 3 years without problems, but soon I want to switch to dct and I'm disappointed how many videos there are about oil leaks and for some it even blocks in a certain gear, that's not nice to know if you want a motor which you can trust for a journey of several thousand kilometers.

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @photoenduro Note that the oil leak issue isn't specific to the DCT model... it has also been reported on the manual versions of the Rebel 1100. The DCT has a few shifting quirks, but I've had an excellent experience with it over the first12K miles.
      I also own a 2014 Honda CB500X. That's a superb machine with easy maintenance. Oddly, the CB500X is a Thai-built Honda, and the Rebel is Japanese-built. I guess the old reputation of Japanese machines being "better" doesn't hold true in the Rebel's case. 🤷‍♂️ --QM

  • @whammo11224
    @whammo11224 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hello! Could you tell me what kind/type of gas the 1100 DCT uses?

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  ปีที่แล้ว

      Honda recommends a minimum of 86 PON (pump octane number) for the Rebel 1100 on page 164 of the owner's manual ( cdn.powersports.honda.com/documentum/MWOM/ml.remawmom.2021_31mla600_cmx1100a_rebel_1100.pdf ). I typically run mid-grade (89) or premium (91) in my Rebel, depending on the weather and riding conditions at the time.
      Generally speaking, higher octane fuels can perform better under some circumstances in hot weather by resisting pre-detonation so the engine's ECU doesn't need to retard ignition timing to combat knocking or pinging. I have noticed a slight difference in efficiency between mid- and premium-grade fuels in the Rebel 1100 during long highway trips. However, the difference is very slight... only 1-2 MPG... so it doesn't offset the higher fuel cost of ~$0.20-0.50/gallon in most cases. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    This is so true. I took my bike to the honda dealer and I asked them to check my chain for slack, my fluids and my tire pressure. I explained to the rep that I just cleaned and lubed the chain, all I need to is to check the slack. They said it would be $45.00. Then they told me it was going to be $75.00 because they wanted to check to make sure the codes were working good because he said it was taking too long to shift. Then he said I put a little too much oil and they have to take some out. I left that place paying $200.00 plus dollars. I was there for two hours. I asked him why it was so high. And they told me because they had to check the slack of the chain they have to clean and lube the chain. He said they always do that when they check the slack. Okay, so why tell me it's going to be 45.00. He said because they charge by the time it takes to do this job. I have an extended warranty till May 2024. So if something goes wrong with my oil, it better happen before then!

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Congrats on your upcoming Trail 125! The only upgrade that I would strongly recommend as a "must-have" is the Gold Plug MP-01 magnetic drain bolt: amzn.to/3wUITnw .
      You can see it in action on my CT125 in this video: th-cam.com/video/IKlTrIRJPAs/w-d-xo.html . That was after my 720-mile, wide-open-throttle highway marathon. The magnet on the plug had a surprising amount of ferrous sludge on it, so I know these Gold Plugs really work!
      Your riding habits and expected use case might require other upgrades for comfort or utility. I have a ton of bolt-on accessories on my CT125 for long-distance touring. Here is my walkthrough video of most of my accessories: th-cam.com/video/lCY8dh7uSC4/w-d-xo.html , and a follow-up here: th-cam.com/video/VlGZHvnBHQ0/w-d-xo.html .
