I’m 5’11 without boots, basically 6ft with my riding boots on but it’s doesn’t matter - taller than average and that matters for seat heights on motorcycles and explaining why I basically never have ergonomic problems or suspension issues at 170lbs
The DCT is amazing for people who have issues with foot feel or a disabled vet like my riding buddy. He has a Rebel 1100 and the smile on this dudes face to ride again.. that’s priceless Bravo Honda! Also all the people complaining about the DCT it’s not for you, calm your manhood you’ll be ok.
@@ElijahNMitchell same, it’s on my left side and throbs almost every time I ride. However the rebel is smooth as bitter and doesn’t rattle me like a Harley does. I’d say talk to your doctor and a local dealer and see what they can do! You can’t go wrong with this bike
I have MS and have lost most of the flexion strength in my left foot. So it’s very difficult for me to shift on a traditional motorcycle. I thought my riding days were about done. The DCT Rebel was a Godsend. So I know that smile on your buddy’s face! Nice to hear these stories.

excellent video! I picked up my manual 1100 about a month ago and damn that thing is nice. even after the new wears off its still a hell of a machine that will no doubt make you think twice about what a cruiser can do. this is the new era of cruisers, and Honda is making sure they make a statement.
Some folks love predictability and that is synonymous with Honda. They know what they are doing, especially when it comes to fit, finish and in particular, RELIABILITY
Honda is probably the only company that could make a claim to perfecting the combustion engine. The amazing thing about Honda is they make engines for every machine on earth. Cars, trucks, rigs, bikes, lawn mowers, construction equipment, and even airplanes. They simply make great engines for every possible use.
Picked up my Rebel 1100 DCT in March and really happy with it. The Two Bros exhaust sounds great on this bike. I've also put a Puig windscreen on (the one for the Rebel 500 fits), and it makes it much easier to ride on highway.

To turn traction control all the way OFF: hold down mode button select T (by pressing the mode button to cycle between power, torque, engine braking) use select button to get it down to one bar hold down on the select button until it goes to zero bars It will then reset when you turn the bike off
Stupid question here: what happens if you do those same steps for torque and power settings to turn it off? Does it allow you? If yes, would the bike even run?

So far Honda was always good, Just fanboys of other bike brands specifically hating. I like mostly all brands, I love motorcycles. I'm not loyal to one brand, all have their own faults.
I've been riding a Vulcan 500, the predecessor to the 650 for quite a while now and as I watch these 1100 rebel videos, i'm more and more considering it as my second bike
I have a Vulcan 500 2007 that I bought new and have 43000 miles on it and it still look and Runs great. I think this Honda looks great. I like the 500 rebel to.
@@philnorman5912 Yeah here in Europe the second gen Vulcan 500 is the perfect starter cruiser, just 2HP shy of the max power the A2 license allows, which is plenty for a beginner and enough for a intermediate rider, I love the bike and couldn't think of a better one i could have started on, but now that I have the full license with no restrictions i'm itching for something with a bit more grunt
I think this bike will sell a ton initially because I think they're filling a void in the market really well with this. I think they'll then have slow period. After that I think you'll see the numbers climb a bit again though as more "classic cruiser" riders see how good of a machine it actually is and styling becomes more accepted.
I seriously doubt there is much community monkey see monkey do type thing in the Japanese "cruiser" market (as opposed to biker club type pressure to buy only this or that model Harley along with the civilian weekend wanna be bikers) ....but rather just tons of disconnected individuals that walk into Japanese line dealerships that will probably fall for the image hype of one particular model that they finally sit on and go all "vroom vroom" in their fantasy imaginations... I have heard quite a few testamonies from guys that were torn between a cruiser or a sportbike lol...in other words they have no idea but they just want to buy into a fantasy seeking to become whatever their imagination is working on....THAT I believe is the typical "cruiser" buyer...the ones buying hype rather thanconsidering perhaps the more practical aspects of what riding motorcycles might be for them
I have seen a good number of reviews of this Rebel 1100, yours may be the best. This bike is on my radar. Some others have complained of the harshness of the rear suspension. Apparently theirs was not a dialed in for weight as yours. Honda did a lot right with this bike, especially pricing and tech. They made a huge mistake by not taking a cue from the Vulcan S ergo fit system, which customizes the bike to your fit desires. Mid and forward controls. Floorboard option. Actual windshield for those not wanting the fairing. Reduced reach handle bars. Extended and possible reduced reach seat. The new Indian Chief which will be a competitor of this bike, some what, also has all these options and will sell very well. Right now these bikes are moving quite well, my nearest dealer in Troy, Ohio only had one when I visited 2 weeks ago. Most likely I will wait until next year to see if the aftermarket addresses my needs for this bike. I personally do not see why this bike could not be a first bike. My gosh less than 500 pounds and narrow is light. Learn in the rain mode and when you progress and become confident you have all that more instant power to unleash in standard and then sport mode.
I bought the DCT model about 6 weeks ago and I'm in love with it. First thing I did - Two brothers Racing exhaust and some 5" risers on the handlebars. Maybe a Puig windscreen (because Honda wants $725.00 for theirs- they can keep it) and a nice big saddle bag on the left side.
Just got the 23' 1100 DCT, as my Very 1st bike, this thing is ridiculously easy to ride, I love how I can come to a stop and don't feel like I have to think about how I am going to balance the bike while stopped, and these bikes Love twisty back roads, have already tossed the new Vans & Hines Hi-output exhaust on it and heat wrapped the manifold up to the exhaust, sounds amazing and looks great. They are still hard to get though, me and my brother got the last 2 our dealer is getting all year.
Good review, Yam - lots of facts plus informed personal impressions, and none of those infernal cameo clips. I'd also be interested in how many miles there are in a tank of gas when doing long-distance highway traveling.
Basically, everything that is tied to the character of the bike needs to stay oldschool. Everything that ties to the riding and ownership experience needs to be modernized. Honda did just that, and it's turned into a great bike. Good job by them to realize the need for a bike like this, and not be stuck in the past like Harley and Indian

This doesn’t surprise me. I had a Honda VTX 1300 and it was great in the city. With 80+ horsepower this Rebel is packing even more heat, its lighter and it’s easier to handle. They’ll sell tons of them.
WOW. The Rebel 1100 sounds like a V-Twin Ducati. It sounds absolutely amazing. I love it!!! I definitely want one now. I'm adding that to the list of cool bikes to own, along with the Yamaha R3, Kawasaki Z400, FJR1300, and Triump Tiger 850.
As for exhaust sound, I have a BMW F900r, which has a 270 degree parallel twin. I just installed an SC Project exhaust on it and it sounds spectacular. These engines really sing
@@rolsson4365 I test rode at least twenty different bikes before deciding on this one. It was the bike I liked the most for what I want in a bike. One benefit of the parallel twin is they don't have a cylinder pointing between your legs. I live in a really hot climate and that's a really important thing to take into account. But also, there are few things more personal than a motorcycle. This was just the one in my budget range that just spoke to me the most.

@@bamesjond2069 I'm looking into getting my first bike, I'm torn on between getting a manual or a DCT. I'd be doing all my licensing on a manual so I'd learn how to do both, but living in a big city I feel like the ease of DCT for the constant stopping at lights and stop signs may be the way to go.
@@alexnguyen9472 Like I mentioned, I'm a new rider and a lot of my riding has been in town and the DCT has been a major factor in how comfortable I've been able to grow as a rider these last few weeks. Really being able to just focus on riding, balance, throttle control, and braking, especially while in town and in traffic, has been excellent. It shifts wonderfully and can be switched between manual and automatic mode and the shift switches on the left hand controls are very easy to reach and intuitive to use. Honestly, if you've got that little extra scratch, I can't recommend the DCT enough

13:33 What they might be doing with the tires is to harken back to 70's and 80's UJM's. I used to own an '83 Honda CB550 which had 19 front and 16 rear tires.
Beginner riders tend to ride this bike in rain mode until they get more hours on it. It provides less torque in that mode. I plan on getting this bike because I don't want to buy 2 motorcycles within 3 years as apposed to 1 that I can grow into.
When Honda stops production of this in 5-7 years and replacement parts dry up you are dead in the water with low re-sale value. Harley is forever and truly American Made.

Yammie! Can't wait to see your review of the DCT. I've had my Honda CTX for a long time with the DCT. Great to throw it into automatic when you get in the city and then bump it over to manual for the twisties. You'll love it. It's instantaneous and precise control in manual mode.
My dad has that bike. I'm not sure why they turned that into the fury. This 1100 looks so locked tight that I don't see it being able to have many mods.
This bike really interests me but I I'm in love with my 06 shadow sabre. Fits me better than any bike I've ever been on. Getting to know a bike really really well helps me to get the most out of it AND myself. In the straights my cruiser is just fun and comfy but knowing it as well as I do, hanging off it in the twisties allows me to get pretty gnarly, way more than I should. Ima stay with my sabre for now but be on the look out for a test ride on this. Great vid brother.

I am awaiting delivery of a '25 1100T DCT. I have nerve damage in my left hanf that makes smooth clutch operation difficult, at best. I am coming off of a Ninja 650. Forgive me Poppa Yans. I bought it before I started watching you channel. It's been alot of fun. Even did a 2500 mile tour on it. But age and ability are relegating me to something more comfortable and easy to ride. I agree with just about everything you said except about 75+ acceleration. I have found that if you're cruising at 80 and you hit the throttle, this thing will pull away. Although I don't know firsthand I've heard that speed is limited to 100mph.
Yammie at 4:46 & 4:59 i am not 100% sure on this but all the vloggers are calling it traction control. But its (HSTC) Torque Control for wheelie. Below is what i found on honda website. "WHEELIE CONTROL Like our high-tech CBR1000RR-R Fireblade, the Rebel 1100 features front and rear wheel-speed sensors working with the Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). The system lets you dial in three levels of wheelie control. Some other cruisers may be low-tech, but not the Rebel 1100."

11:18 The DCT was introduced in the NC700 platform bikes, So it does come in a "beginner" friendly bike. I do wish they sold the NC700/750 "S" model in the US. The DCT was then offered in the AfricaTwin and didn't come in the GoldWing until the the latest generation.
Agreed with you completely on the ergos, Yammie. Had an order set to go. Loved the bike - but the ergonomics killed the purchase. We're same height and I need the bar at least 2 inches further back to be comfortable. Maybe on the next year's model or some proper risers? Fingers crossed.
I bought a used 2019 rebel 300 for my first bike and I'm loving it. Feels like quality, I think it could last forever if I take care of it. Id love to get a more powerful bike one day, but for now I'm enjoying every mile on my 300. Paid $3200 for it, and paying $75 a year on insurance, 78mpg, and 6k mile oil changes. Super cheap fun.
Been riding without a license. Friends at work recommended a rider course. I took it. Great course. I picked a honda rebel 500. I have a triumph but that honda rebel was so much fun. As the course progresses they want you to push the bike and course harder and the rebel and i loved it.
They need to make a Sabre sport touring version of this platform. Modify the frame so the riding position is straight up standard with a higher seat. Offer a windshield and hard luggage touring option. Keep everything else the same.
Low end torque low center of gravity flicks into the twisties throw a vance & hines exhaust different mirrors maybe & there ya go a cruiser that acts almost like a naked bike
It would have been nice to understand why the 270 degree crankshaft is different than the conventional 180 degree crankshaft. I have studied twins extensively and I still can't remember what the benefits to are to a 270 degree crank. Other than a cooler sound, I can't recall if it's actually better?
A270 degree crank meams the kinetic energy in the two pistons summed up is a constant. This means the crank rotates at a constant speed. A single for instance, as the piston speeds up and slows down going through a stroke, the crank also changes speed. This can give a buzzy feel. But in a 90 degree Vtwin, same for the 270 degree crank, crank speed is constant which gives an extremely smooth feel.
When mine arrived I thought someone had forgotten to pump up the tyres it is so small which for me at 5'.5" is absolutely brilliant, easy to move around when seated and switched off is a bonus. I bought mine blind as I could not get out to try one but I have a 700S DCT and always wanted a cruiser but it has to be automatic due to arthritis issues and when I made up my mind I got lucky with a cancelled order sitting in a dealer so 8 days later it is sitting outside waiting for me to get the chance to get out and ride.
Do you think this would be on a similar plane of "suitability as a beginner bike" as say a Vulcan 900 or a Bolt, or is this still even a step above those? I know it's obviously a lot faster, but for an older beginner who has the discipline and maturity to handle that responsibility, do you think the lighter weight would make it more appropriate, or does the extra weight of the Vulcan and Bolt not outweigh (no pun intended lol) the increase in power of the Rebel?

I own a Honda Rebel 500 and one thing that always sticks out anywhere even in the reviews is that the seat is just horrible. How does it feel on the Rebel 1100?
This made me buy one of the bikes. The only thing not mentioned is the completely adjustable (and really easy too) front and rear suspension that comes from the factory so soft its almost ridiculous. Like bottom out and yeet yourself to infinity soft. A couple of clicks on each side and boom, smooth.
I started riding with a rebel 500 about four years ago. Now, I have a bmw r nine t. I kind of wish that I had bought one of these instead. My r nine t is great, but it is pretty rough on my back.
@@swaggyghosty9222 I might just get different bars. After about an hour of riding, my shoulders and back are screaming. It makes me not want to ride as much. Edit: I should note that this is probably a problem with me more than the bike. I got in a bad accident a year ago and my body was never really the same after. I'm fine... just get aches a lot easier

Great that it has mid-controls instead of the all too common toes pointed at the sky mode. Honda also has a touring model for this year. Very nice fairing and hard bags for about another $1200 (in Canada). I'm thinking that I'd like one to replace the old Gold Wing.
Don't do that. I have a non touring DCT and I have taken out a touring model. I love it, but it is absolutely no replacement for a gold wing or for touring in general. It's fun for an around town or daily bike, but I hate being on it for more than 30-60 min. Add that to the insanely small fuel tank, it just shouldn't exist in a touring model for any reason other than having room for groceries lol.
You can turn traction control completely off. Just have to hold down the select button for two seconds while your adjusting the tc. It will go to zero bars. But it will reset when you turn machine off and on.
I have a 1978 Honda CB400A which has the Hondamatic 2 speed torque converter transmission. Lift and shift. Makes the morning commute much less tiring on the way home.
Currently had the 500 for a year and looking at trying this out this summer and seeing if it’s worth the upgrade! Love the 500 so far, perfect beginner bike.

I heard people at work saying riding a motorcycle with an automatic is like riding a scooter and I asked the guy if his car is manual and he said no.
I agree I have arthritis and the DCT has enabled me to ride a motorbike first my NC700S and now my Rebel 1100 DCT.

First thing I did - Two brothers Racing exhaust and some 5" risers on the handlebars.
Maybe a Puig windscreen (because Honda wants $725.00 for theirs- they can keep it) and a nice big saddle bag on the left side.

Just got the 23' 1100 DCT, as my Very 1st bike, this thing is ridiculously easy to ride, I love how I can come to a stop and don't feel like I have to think about how I am going to balance the bike while stopped, and these bikes Love twisty back roads, have already tossed the new Vans & Hines Hi-output exhaust on it and heat wrapped the manifold up to the exhaust, sounds amazing and looks great. They are still hard to get though, me and my brother got the last 2 our dealer is getting all year.
Just got mine 2 days ago, also my first bike. I waited 3 months to get a call from the closest dealer to me!

Basically, everything that is tied to the character of the bike needs to stay oldschool. Everything that ties to the riding and ownership experience needs to be modernized. Honda did just that, and it's turned into a great bike. Good job by them to realize the need for a bike like this, and not be stuck in the past like Harley and Indian

This doesn’t surprise me. I had a Honda VTX 1300 and it was great in the city. With 80+ horsepower this Rebel is packing even more heat, its lighter and it’s easier to handle. They’ll sell tons of them.
WOW. The Rebel 1100 sounds like a V-Twin Ducati. It sounds absolutely amazing. I love it!!! I definitely want one now. I'm adding that to the list of cool bikes to own, along with the Yamaha R3, Kawasaki Z400, FJR1300, and Triump Tiger 850.

As for exhaust sound, I have a BMW F900r, which has a 270 degree parallel twin. I just installed an SC Project exhaust on it and it sounds spectacular. These engines really sing

@@rolsson4365 I test rode at least twenty different bikes before deciding on this one. It was the bike I liked the most for what I want in a bike. One benefit of the parallel twin is they don't have a cylinder pointing between your legs. I live in a really hot climate and that's a really important thing to take into account.
But also, there are few things more personal than a motorcycle. This was just the one in my budget range that just spoke to me the most.

@@bamesjond2069 I'm looking into getting my first bike, I'm torn on between getting a manual or a DCT. I'd be doing all my licensing on a manual so I'd learn how to do both, but living in a big city I feel like the ease of DCT for the constant stopping at lights and stop signs may be the way to go.
@@alexnguyen9472 Like I mentioned, I'm a new rider and a lot of my riding has been in town and the DCT has been a major factor in how comfortable I've been able to grow as a rider these last few weeks. Really being able to just focus on riding, balance, throttle control, and braking, especially while in town and in traffic, has been excellent. It shifts wonderfully and can be switched between manual and automatic mode and the shift switches on the left hand controls are very easy to reach and intuitive to use. Honestly, if you've got that little extra scratch, I can't recommend the DCT enough

Beginner riders tend to ride this bike in rain mode until they get more hours on it. It provides less torque in that mode. I plan on getting this bike because I don't want to buy 2 motorcycles within 3 years as apposed to 1 that I can grow into.

Yammie! Can't wait to see your review of the DCT. I've had my Honda CTX for a long time with the DCT. Great to throw it into automatic when you get in the city and then bump it over to manual for the twisties. You'll love it. It's instantaneous and precise control in manual mode.

VFR 1200 was Honda’s first road going dct bike I believe and it’s a 170 hp sport touring bike introduced in 2010!
My dad has that bike. I'm not sure why they turned that into the fury. This 1100 looks so locked tight that I don't see it being able to have many mods.

The new Goldwing has a 18 inch front tire and a 16 in back too the DCT in sport mode is awesome you have to try it.

This bike really interests me but I I'm in love with my 06 shadow sabre. Fits me better than any bike I've ever been on. Getting to know a bike really really well helps me to get the most out of it AND myself. In the straights my cruiser is just fun and comfy but knowing it as well as I do, hanging off it in the twisties allows me to get pretty gnarly, way more than I should. Ima stay with my sabre for now but be on the look out for a test ride on this. Great vid brother.

I am awaiting delivery of a '25 1100T DCT. I have nerve damage in my left hanf that makes smooth clutch operation difficult, at best.
I am coming off of a Ninja 650. Forgive me Poppa Yans. I bought it before I started watching you channel. It's been alot of fun. Even did a 2500 mile tour on it. I agree with just about everything you said except about 75+ acceleration. I have found that if you're cruising at 80 and you hit the throttle, this thing will pull away. Although I don't know firsthand I've heard that speed is limited to 100mph.
It is - apparently it needs to be flashed in order to remove that limitation

I believe it’s 105 mph gov limited that will drop to 100 before it accelerates back to 105. That can be undone with a tune though
Yammie at 4:46 & 4:59 i am not 100% sure on this but all the vloggers are calling it traction control. But its (HSTC) Torque Control for wheelie. Below is what i found on honda website.
"WHEELIE CONTROL
Like our high-tech CBR1000RR-R Fireblade, the Rebel 1100 features front and rear wheel-speed sensors working with the Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). The system lets you dial in three levels of wheelie control. Some other cruisers may be low-tech, but not the Rebel 1100."

11:18 The DCT was introduced in the NC700 platform bikes, So it does come in a "beginner" friendly bike. I do wish they sold the NC700/750 "S" model in the US. The DCT was then offered in the AfricaTwin and didn't come in the GoldWing until the the latest generation.
Agreed with you completely on the ergos, Yammie. Had an order set to go. Loved the bike - but the ergonomics killed the purchase. We're same height and I need the bar at least 2 inches further back to be comfortable. Maybe on the next year's model or some proper risers? Fingers crossed.

I bought a used 2019 rebel 300 for my first bike and I'm loving it. Feels like quality, I think it could last forever if I take care of it. Id love to get a more powerful bike one day, but for now I'm enjoying every mile on my 300. Paid $3200 for it, and paying $75 a year on insurance, 78mpg, and 6k mile oil changes. Super cheap fun.

Been riding without a license. Friends at work recommended a rider course. I took it. Great course. I picked a honda rebel 500. I have a triumph but that honda rebel was so much fun. As the course progresses they want you to push the bike and course harder and the rebel and i loved it.

@@pubg_god5939 I love it, the sound, the 0 to 100. I was on a short camping trip with the 1100 Rebel, it is so nice with the cruise control.
They need to make a Sabre sport touring version of this platform. Modify the frame so the riding position is straight up standard with a higher seat. Offer a windshield and hard luggage touring option. Keep everything else the same.
Check out the Honda NT1100, available in Europe.
Low end torque low center of gravity flicks into the twisties throw a vance & hines exhaust different mirrors maybe & there ya go a cruiser that acts almost like a naked bike

It would have been nice to understand why the 270 degree crankshaft is different than the conventional 180 degree crankshaft. I have studied twins extensively and I still can't remember what the benefits to are to a 270 degree crank. Other than a cooler sound, I can't recall if it's actually better?
A270 degree crank meams the kinetic energy in the two pistons summed up is a constant. This means the crank rotates at a constant speed. A single for instance, as the piston speeds up and slows down going through a stroke, the crank also changes speed. This can give a buzzy feel. But in a 90 degree Vtwin, same for the 270 degree crank, crank speed is constant which gives an extremely smooth feel.
When mine arrived I thought someone had forgotten to pump up the tyres it is so small which for me at 5'.5" is absolutely brilliant, easy to move around when seated and switched off is a bonus. I bought mine blind as I could not get out to try one but I have a 700S DCT and always wanted a cruiser but it has to be automatic due to arthritis issues and when I made up my mind I got lucky with a cancelled order sitting in a dealer so 8 days later it is sitting outside waiting for me to get the chance to get out and ride.
Do you think this would be on a similar plane of "suitability as a beginner bike" as say a Vulcan 900 or a Bolt, or is this still even a step above those? I know it's obviously a lot faster, but for an older beginner who has the discipline and maturity to handle that responsibility, do you think the lighter weight would make it more appropriate, or does the extra weight of the Vulcan and Bolt not outweigh (no pun intended lol) the increase in power of the Rebel?

I own a Honda Rebel 500 and one thing that always sticks out anywhere even in the reviews is that the seat is just horrible. How does it feel on the Rebel 1100?

From what your describing the ergo as, it sounds like the ergo from my old 1983 honda magna (muscle cruiser)
Great bike. I’ll never understand why anyone would want a DCT unless your old as hell. Shifting is one of the best things about riding.
This made me buy one of the bikes. The only thing not mentioned is the completely adjustable (and really easy too) front and rear suspension that comes from the factory so soft its almost ridiculous. Like bottom out and yeet yourself to infinity soft. A couple of clicks on each side and boom, smooth.
I'd love for you to get hold of a DCT version to do a comparison video.

I started riding with a rebel 500 about four years ago. Now, I have a bmw r nine t. I kind of wish that I had bought one of these instead. My r nine t is great, but it is pretty rough on my back.

Edit: I should note that this is probably a problem with me more than the bike. I got in a bad accident a year ago and my body was never really the same after. I'm fine... just get aches a lot easier
@@robertstimmel1100 oh.. well I hope things get better for ya.. cuz being well is important than the ride. It even happens to me after like 1 and half hour or more of ride. I ride a YBR 125, even tho it's very comfy, my left shoulder starts to ache and gradually goes down towards my lower back

Great that it has mid-controls instead of the all too common toes pointed at the sky mode. Honda also has a touring model for this year. Very nice fairing and hard bags for about another $1200 (in Canada). I'm thinking that I'd like one to replace the old Gold Wing.
Don't do that. I have a non touring DCT and I have taken out a touring model. I love it, but it is absolutely no replacement for a gold wing or for touring in general. It's fun for an around town or daily bike, but I hate being on it for more than 30-60 min. Add that to the insanely small fuel tank, it just shouldn't exist in a touring model for any reason other than having room for groceries lol.
Honda Rebel looks so hard
You can turn traction control completely off. Just have to hold down the select button for two seconds while your adjusting the tc. It will go to zero bars. But it will reset when you turn machine off and on.

I have a 1978 Honda CB400A which has the Hondamatic 2 speed torque converter transmission. Lift and shift. Makes the morning commute much less tiring on the way home.
