@@mcw-lg2dm I was the same way with Assassin Creed 1, they used actual maps at the time. So you can explore Jerusalem as it was back in the day. And I am a history junkie, it is what got me into it... My favorite game is AC1, but I love all the others too. I even got a tattoo on my chest. Just love the history recreations.
@@Renotrigger right same here, I've been a ubisoft apologist for ages just because of the ac franchise. The bottom line is they're the only developer that is willing to focus on historic settings throughout human history when all other games rely on crazy fantasy stuff.
@@Cali49er yeah it was ptolemaic egypt, the time of ceaser, pompey, cleopatra. It's the most notorious time period, and what everyone thinks of when they hear ancient Egypt but you're right.
Assassin's Creed 2 is my favorite (next to Black Flag) not only because of the amazing story and gameplay, but because of how Ubisoft recreated Florence. When I studied abroad there, I could navigate my way around that city without getting lost because of this game
Im sorry but I literally cannot agree with you on ac 2 just because of the crappy combat and stealth the only good thing that it had going for it was parkour and that’s it story was ok at best im just pissed off they had me get 30 codex pages kill every other Templar in relation to ezios vengeance arc WHICH ENDS 2 HOURS IN THE GAME and all of this to not kill the main guy behind it all idgaf about the message it sends ezio was literally gonna kill him until he woke up. I’m sorry but I just don’t see the hype and love to this game other than the fact that I think it’s carried by nostalgia alone
Odyssey was one of the most beautiful games I’ve ever played Ancient Greece was like heaven the beaches, the blue water, the flowers. I would sometimes climb up somewhere high and watch the sunrise that is something you gotta consider odyssey is the most underrated assassin’s creed game
@@Boatangaif you get it on sale it's worth the money, unless you're really bored though it's not really worth the time, the characters are pretty bland, the game is too grindy, they basically got rid of stealth, it looks pretty, but then so does every AC since unity, and the only impact you have on the (too large for the amount of actual content) open world is does this zone have soldiers that want to kill you dressed in red, or soldiers that want to kill you dressed in blue. There's fun to be had, but honestly the game is kinda mid and unimpactful, if you want to try one of the new ones I'd go for origins, it's a bit shorter, and bayek is probably the best protagonist in the series
@@eduardaleksanyan4124 The main quest I'd good and has choices that actually affect how things end. The grind was pretty easy tbh and you don't need to do all the side quest for it.
@@eduardaleksanyan4124I mean, the world is definitely fucking amazing, a lot of the game is meh, with some awful and some awesome experiences mixed in, but… Greece, man Greece looked sexy. Origins is by far the best RPG AC title though.
Dude, the fact that you keep releasing high quality vids one after the other after the other in less than a month is INSANE! Keep up the work, brother!
I just gotta say this: Your way of argumenting why or why not you like a game, while also understanding how other people may feel different is amazing. Other youtubers I have seen were just bashing the new ACs out of bitter nostalgia without even considering that they might appeal to others. Very well done and I fully respect your ranking and reasoning on it! :D
The placement of Black Flag earned my like 😂. Shoutout to the sea shanties being 10 years ahead of when they randomly became a fad during the beginning of the pandemic
Like the ending where they sang “the parting glass” As someone that is second generation from Ireland, I loved they chose that song. A vast world to explore to, with some very interesting characters as well The game was by far the most rememberable for me.
I agree with almost all of these except for Odyssey... something about that game just did it for me. Exploring Ancient Greece was just incredible the first time through. And the Crete/Messara section of the game is some of the most fun I've ever had in an AC game.
people dont like it because your not an assassin. i think thats valid when judging it as an assassins creed game but just game wise its one of the best ones they have done. The story, world building, combat, and emersion are some of the best in the series. It was great at making you feel like a greek myth.
With Odyssey I absolutely loved the cult investigations and your freedom of who to hunt. I love the concept of having the Templars/whatever as an actual organization with different facets and each facet has a different captain, who has different lieutenants and each supports/provides different things to the organization so taking one out destabilizes it in a certain way.
I agree with almost every point you made. But to this day Syndicate is my favorite Assassin's Creed and I will die on the hill that the grappling hook was amazing. As we get closer and closer to modern day it becomes more justified. Cities are just too big to not need it. I do think it should have been nerfed though. Maybe only take you halfway up a building or be restricted to creating a zipline.
@@dipolargaming5117Don't die yet. Wait for me on that hill. But tbh I loved the dynamic between the frye twins. It had the best stealth this franchise has to offer IMO. It's criminal that many people rank it soo low and unity so high nowadays
@@dipolargaming5117 Yeah, everything he said must be why people dont talk about it and unity ruining the bed...but syndicate i liked for all the reasons he hated it. Characters who smile again, two characters, a gang you control, turning invisible when still was fun, grapple didnt make climping useless...just made it so you get to missions in a less done before fashion...felt so good too...fights were frenetic and different after you got used to it than other games...story was simple and to the point unlike the others...just good all around. plus you got a train...A TRAIN.
I just started Unity for the first time on Steamdeck, not expecting much and I'm truly amazed; the fluid parkour on Paris rooftops, the crowd density when you blend in, the badass animations, the stealth approach and executions. Flawless! Totally agree with your S tier!
I finished the syndicate for the third time recently, and i still dont get it why people hate this game so much, i mean the stealth system, outfit design, charactar dynamics, parkour system and missions are all top notch, the only weakness is its combat system, and thats it. I played all assassins games since childhood and syndicate is the last game that i felt like a real assassin for the last time
I finished syndicate for the first time the other day and I really enjoyed it especially the grapple but my main problem with it, it's very Jacob centric I would of like to play evie more in the story, she got like one mission a sequence
You have been literally saying EVERYTHING I’ve been saying about AC for the past 10 years! Especially with rogue and unity intersecting, and you’re experiences about getting next gen late, I relate to so hard so I love this tier list such a fantastic video thank you so much
I definitely enjoyed it and recently started playing it again. The rpg elements and NG+ make it endlessly playable. I understand that it’s not a traditional AC game but I don’t think it deserves the hate I see it get sometimes
everything is accurate except for Odyssey... how is Valhalla an S tier while Odyssey is a D tier? Anyone who is a big fan of Spartans and Ancient Greek history will adore this game. Odyssey depicted Ancient Greece perfectly imo
I totally relate to you about Unity, I played Rogue because I was 12 and couldn't get a next gen consol. And by the time I came around to Unity, it was fixed. And it was magnificent. The city, movement, and customization are so good, I have to place AC Brotherhood and Unity as the best in the series. The story isn't great, and sometimes the bugs are totally annoying, and the multiplayer is STILL broken. But damn, if the rest isn't better than anything else we've gotten.
Funny was the same way for me and had opposite experience still disliked unity didn’t love story and felt stealth was still broken(enemies could sometimes see you through walls and roofs). Personally would prob rate it as my least fav between that and ac3 But to each their own
The best tierlist video format i've ever seen, the nakeyjakey style pacing and editing is fantastic and still unique to your comedy. I would say the only thing i wanted was more YOU. I completley agree with your takes on the games and their placement in the list but with your strong, researched takes, i would have loved even more stories, bits or even just jokes. I would be proud to make a video like this so hats off! - Earned my sub easily.
When i played this game i was living with a homie, so everytime i was playing it and he was going from his room to kitchen and sees me playing it he said: Man, do you do another thing on this game besides riding wagons? So, we laught about it and we called the game Wagon Simulator.
I personally really enjoyed A.C Odyssey, It’s one of my favorite games of the series which shocked me because I was so sure I’d hate it. A.C Valhalla after the 30 hour mark just became a absolute drag. Rare case where less content would benefit the game immensely.
I disliked both Origins and Odyssey in the beginning. Imo they're bad AC games story, world and gameplay wise. But if you dont expect an AC game, just another open world game they are pretty decent.
@@Loik948its just a different game and the title is probably the biggest issue with odyssey. I absolutely loved the game and ancient greece and egypt were amazing but i can understand people saying it's hardly an ac game. But at this point some hardcore fans are way too extreme on it just because it changed things up
Completely agree. Odyssey was one of the best games in story, character and gameplay imo. I feel like some people only dislike it bc Kassandra is the canon character and she’s a woman which makes the ezio fanboys pissed
AC botherhood was my very first AC game I’ve ever played. My favorite part of the game was building your own custom assassins team. Giving them their own roles and play styles. I never fully completed the game but it was an amazing game to hook me on the whole series.
I gotta say, I was a bit older for AC1, maybe 13, and it hit right at the height of my interest in conspiracy theories. So I was stoked about the story and the modern day stuff, and that game is one of the most memorable for me, even though it really doesn't hold up today.
same (I was younger but the modern day stuff was always so interesting to me).. which is why it all went downhill after ac3 in my opinion (tho I did enjoy the 4th too). It actually personally offends me that people don’t like the modern story lmaooo, to me it’s like, the entire point of the game. without it there’s no greater purpose for any of it and it just feels hollow
Unity's critical re-evaluation in recent years has made me so happy, that game meant a lot to me in a bad time in my life and is one of my favourite games of all time
i CANNOT disagree more, i recently platinumed Unity and its a SLOG also... such a bad story, Arno simply makes no sense "OH MY DADS WATCH" and that revenge and plot goes nowhere, we dont even fight Shay, who killed his father, it's so so bad. He goes after his love interests dads killer, who was a templar himself. the brotherhood sucks in that game. It has SO MANY FLAWS
@@ShaunCarn the story is not the best, but the gameplay is the best imo. The parkour was just insanely good and I'm sad they've give up on the coop in next AC games.
@@AxelRT07 The Parkour is VISUALLY the best, but mechanically, it blows. You had to get good at the jank. Me and my wife hate Unity because of how frustrating some buildings are to go up. @bizlychannelYT AC valhalla is one of my favourite AC games (never finished it because its too long) so I am genuinely happy that you rated it so high
I feel like your favorite Assassin's Creed is an excellent personality gauge. Like for me: Brotherhood. Namely because I just love Roman History enough (I know, eye roll) that the setting overrides any problems I might have with the story or gameplay. I'm here for the history and setting, other people are there for a very specific game play or the story. Good way to see what someone prioritizes in their gaming experience.
@@lascrannon The settings in origins was the sole reason I played and 100% that game. its may not be the strongest AC game but gat damn does Egypt look good

If blackflag was released with improved graphics, improved combat and honestly separated from the story of the assassins it could be the perfect pirate game. So damn ahead of its time
Origins was a huge surprise for me and I think while it may not be as loved as Black Flag, this game is the most compelling one of the entire series to revisit. I can see myself going back to it every few years unless they somehow start releasing good games again and give me an alternative. It’s on that 2/Black Flag/Unity level for me
@@undertall when it came out I played through most of the story and then was away from home for almost a year. I mostly agree with this list! I started as Alexios in Odyssey and felt what you felt. After two hours, I started the game over with Kassandra and she is one of my favorite assassin's now. Kinda feels like you're playing a wonder woman game in a way. I lowered the level scaling in Valhalla and that has made it a much more enjoyable experience. I'm also glad you're giving love to the best AC game, Unity!
Odyssey really showed me how important the voice actor is. Because wow Kassandra should have just been the main character. And they should have had the guts to just have a female lead without needing to also have a man version.
Haven't played Valhalla yet, but I'm interested by what you mean about lowering the level scaling, or any other tips on how to make the game more enjoyable if you may.
@@vasile-vladivanovici9430 Thankfully Ubisoft updated the game and now there is a toggle to turn level scaling down or completely off. I turned it off and with it off, the enemies don't level up with you like in Odyssey. It was annoying going back to your home island to clean up and everybody was your level. For Valhalla, I progressed through the districts by level, making it a much more organic experience.
started playing valhalla after binge watching The Last Kingdom and it made me love the new style of AC games. I maybe tried the other 2 for two hours total prior but now am watching this to find my next play lol. I will say the ending is beyond lukewarm you work so hard and gather all these allies thru the whole game to take over England and the final mission boils down to "the king ran away so we win!"
@@BigBob-bd1wf yeah and i know that ending is a little more fulfilling but as far as the main story’s ending it sucked so bad for all that build up lol
You're very right about Odyssey. I played as Kassandra and her voice actor characterized her much better and made her feel more fitting, I recommend you do the dlc with her. I also noticed that the game gets more enjoyable as you play it. It's a massive pitfall that I can't enjoy this games systems until im tens of hours in but once I started kitting out an assassin build and a warrior build it felt much better.
This! Played the first time as kassandra and the beginning was rough but then I loved it. Tried playing it again as alexios and suddenly it didn’t do it for me

Ac3 just kind of made you feel like a badass. I remember I’d always make up a story in my head that the soldiers were terrified of Connor like he was an urban legend and someone who struck fear in the hearts of those who where on the wrong side of his tomahawk.
AC3 in the best game in the franchise imo. The gameplay the combat the story the characters and CONNOR made this game an absolute gem that I can replay over and over again with getting bored
AC Revelations will always be one of my favorites, seeing Ezio grow to this aged man who's trying to leave the life of death and bloodshed behind him while also trying to fulfil the last wishes of Altair, when the entire time he's essentially a pawn in the grand scheme of things but ACCEPTS that just makes his whole character that much cooler than he already was.
completely resparked my excitement for mirage, you touched on so many feelings i had as a kid regarding these games and i hope i can recreate some of this in the upcoming entry
Loved sharing where I was in my life when each game came out and my experiences with them on a more personal level. Glad I could bring those memories back up for you and I hope you can go into mirage with that same excitement you had as a kid. (even if it turns out to be ass)
You have absolutely no clue how hyped I was when the Revelations trailer dropped with Iron by Woodkid. I legit bought the song after seeing that trailer as a kid
Just like Black Flag was a pirate simulator, Assassin's Creed Odyssey is essentially a Greek hero simulator. And that's what you are: a classic Greek hero in the Assassin's Creed world. You are more or less in the mythological era of the AC world.
It doesn’t bring you along the “assassin story” in the same way that BF does. BF isn’t a “pirate simulator”. Yes, Edward is a pirate, but along the way he develops into a master assassin. Kassandra is a much less developed main character who lives in a time where the assassins didn’t even exist. Odyssey is a great game, but it is much more of an era simulator in comparison to BF.
@@trashwifiyt2825 it dors however set up the origins ofbthe main big bad ofbthe series in a way...not in a great way but it eoes show where they came from....the balkans
Not giving Odyssey the S it deserves in the year of our lord 2023 is unforgivable for me. Loved your video regardless, for some reason the full standing up guy in front of a green screen is hilarious to me
The game was clearly made to be played as Kassandra (she acts and talks like a real person), whereas Alexios acts and talks like an over-the-top villain.
Yes, as someone who's played through both MC choices in Odyssey, Kassandra is SO MUCH BETTER, this is coming from someone who's beaten all the DLC's, and where that game is a runner up for best game of all time, even 6 years and several chapters of my life later.
I’ve had a really rough couple of days, and not many things could bring me out of my funk. But seeing a new vid from you pop up is definitely a blessing. Thank you for being you.
Currently playing Assassin’s Creed II for the first time. Just been initiated into the Assassins near the end of the game, and it’s been a great time. Very much looking forwards to playing the rest of the series as my partner is a huge fan!
Something I find really interesting about the original AC is that it was meant to be played without a HUD. I tried it once and found it actually becomes a much more interesting game. It forces you to pay more attention to the information you're gathering and to the city layouts. I found playing without a HUD meant I ended up meticulously planning out the assassinations including exactly how I'd get away and vanish again. It makes for a much more assassin-y game. AC2 has a cooler setting and better characters, but AC1 might be my favourite in terms of games design
@@Dorraj it was though, they deliberately designed the game without a HUD. it's unlike a lot of other games where they just slap on the no-HUD filters that'll negatively affect your games' experience because they didn't accommodate it with such details. so yeah, assassin's creed 1 was "meant" to be HUDless lol
I personally like Odyssey a lot because of the possibility to make really op builds and just overall being able to create your own special builds with your gear. Plus the setting being just one that I was really interested in and also the dlc's were both really fun and interesting. There's just one flaw... Leyla. But anyways I still left 264h in this game (yes i really like it for some reason).
I can imagine how strenuous and tedious making this series can prolly be so I just wanted to let you know I really appreciate you making this series I find it very informative and entertaining 🔥 keep it up man!!!
Part 2: the syndicate grapple gun wasn't for main traversal, it was added in so you could create your own paths for air assassinations, and quick traverse up a building when you need a quick escape the grappling hook was a defense and opportunity creation tool, not a traversal tool
Ok buy does it really matter what it was made for? If people end up using it in a different way than it was intended (as a traversal tool) and it makes an important aspect of the game redundant then it wasn't designed well.
@@xavieranderson3691 The issue I had with it was that, while it does make some sense considering the spacing between buildings in London during that era, it's implementation wasn't done right. Perhaps this isn't the right phrasing, but it made the game feel too 'easy' and not fun at times. It definitely took away from the fun of AC parkour when, instead of planning a route/climbing up a building, I could just skip all of that and got straight to the top. You could try and not do it in a playthrough, but a lot of the navigation up a building is designed specifically do be done primarily with the grapple which, at best, makes actually climbing feel somewhat tedious as the scaling isn't mapped for vertical parkour as much. I think, like suggested in this video, it would have been better if it was only able to used horizontally or as a way to get down quicker, not up. In a weird way, by making it's use available in every situation, it actually made the gameplay feel more limited than freeing.
@@xavieranderson3691 I bet if they didn't plan on having a grappling hook they would have designed the map differently. They probably wouldn't have made it as spaced out and more like a traditional AC game
Origins was my favorite because it was so beautiful and a breath of fresh air. Odyssey then took it too far in my opinion (good game tho but not AC at all). Now we are hoping for just a normal AC game so Origins failed in my book but i am so happy to have experienced the best main character for me, a great story and two very fun DLCs.
The older Assassin's Creed games were sort of a tradition for me, as I used to get the new one from my family every Christmas and basically spend boxing day playing it. The nostalgia from this video is crazy
Rogue and Unity are FIRE and I’m glad you’re not going with the usual commentary on how the good games are good and the bad ones are irredeemable. Great video, Assassins Creed is my favorite franchise so it’s cool to hear someone be realistic on what was bad and what was good. Unity was a sad story on release and I played it years after release as I couldn’t get an Xbox One at launch, the game is one of the most gorgeous games I’ve ever seen. I genuinely don’t know why they didn’t do more of the way this game plays
So happy i found this video.. Great video by the way, subscribed. Fellow Odyssey player here (157hrs in) Just wanted to say, Odyssey is the storyline behind all Assassins creed game, spoiler alert, if you play through all the DLCs and even some lore friendly side quests. I've consistently come back to it over the years and would place it as the best. Sure Alexios doesn't have the best behavior or speech, the combat is different then other AC games etc. On its own it is a great game, but when you look at it as a whole with all it has to offer, taking the good and bad with it. It's a fucking incredible game. Will play time and time again.
There's no way you just said the world in Odyssey is boring... There are hundreds of cities each with their own story, with different Gods, temples, and there are so many cool and unique secondary missions. It is a little too big, but it's absolutely one of those games where you try to do the main story but your attention gets pulled away from it. It's not a dense world like maybe in Unity, but it's definitely not boring.
Glad to know I’m not alone with the whole “Smosh rap is permanently stuck in my head” thing. I remember listening to it a few times to hype myself up for some of the missions in III, and now it’ll just echo in the recesses of my brain in the dead of night
Everything up to Unity is pure gold. Ezio saga is legendary. We witnessed whole life of a game character from birth to death. We lived what he lived. From rebellious teenager to a master of the order in Rome to a wise man dying peacefully. For AC3, I don't get why it gets hate. It was so good. The revolution story was amazing. More importantly the depth of assassins and templars, anarchists and tyrants. This game and Haytham made me understand neither side is right one. Achilles' and Desmond's death made me shed a tear. The story of Desmond, past and future, was amazing and Ubisoft made a wrong choice ridding the old animus and Desmond too. I have no words for AC4 but sea shanties. A masterpiece. Ac Unity was the smoothest game I have ever played. The parkour, the hidden blade kills, Arno's story. It was most fun ac game next to ac4.
2 is my favorite, admittedly mostly for nostalgia. Especially for the time it was so good, I pity anyone who missed out on that. It’s the one that brought the series to the masses, and that’s because it’s just a damn great game. 4 is also great. I also did think that 3 was underappreciated. Unity is when I kinda fell off for a bit. Origins/Odyssey/Valhalla are good games but they are different beasts. I prefer the way the older games did things with the smaller broken up maps, and the focus on story and stealth, catacombs/caves and upgrades/collectibles. I’ve heard Mirage is a return to that style of play so I’ll probably be checking that out at some point.
3's problem was that it couldn't possibly stand up to ezio trilogy. And for a long time after Revelation, that was the problem. I remember being hyped, and hoping for a character as interesting as Ezio, interestingly historical characters and a setting as glamorous as renaissance italy. Instead, we got AC3, which was just fine. Unity's problem was optimization. It also came out around watch dogs which had a serious downgrade. People started to hate Ubisoft for all the lies and such.
@wngmv The only reason it couldn't stand up is because of racism Ratonhnhaké:ton Is such a beautiful and compelling Character and such a heartfelt Representation of being a mixed indigenous And the The story is Such a beautiful and deep tragedy Because it doesn't matter how hard and well you fight against the colonialism it doesn't matter what you do Your people still die and your culture is still lost , And a lot of people to avoid coming to terms with , like what it means to be an american with this being the history , they kind of divorce themselves from it And don't engage with the story
This is an interesting video showing the lines between generations. I was in college when assassins creed 3 came out and the only part my friends and I remember are the beginning because we felt it got so slow after that and the twist was awesome with Kenway. It wasn't really Connor that was the issue...it was the pacing overall, particularly the beginning of Connor's journey. I'm sure you researched this a bit and know that, but the hype for the game was real after assassins creed 2 because brotherhood and revelations just didn't have the same buzz about them despite good ratings. Also, it is crazy that the first assassins creed didn't hold up as well because at the time that's all we could talk about. It was up there with halo, bioshock, fable, oblivion, and fallout in terms of games everyone had.
I had the same experience with AC III. I tried so many times to get into it, but it is so phenomenally boring, especially relative to what came before it.
Odyssey was a lesson to me on how much I'm willing to value thematic appeal. I was on board from day one with the Ancient Greece bit just because I grew up reading Percy Jackson. But the more I tried to experience the gameplay, the more it felt like it was asking me to have already put 30 or 40 hours in. Halfway through the story when I want to start finding secrets, it wanted me to be around level 50 in the areas I wanted to explore--which won't be achievable until new game plus. It sometimes led to a very memorable moment where I stood atop a large column crafting arrows to fire endlessly at a boss-level lion guarding a chest with the trident spear skin that I wanted, but the more I thought about this experience the more I feel like my time was wasted exploring a pretty sparce world just so I could get the xp to engage with what I actually wanted to engage with. The mercenaries mechanic that they copied from Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor was amazing though, and I have no notes.
my expeirence was, ive only progressed in the story so i can unlock the necessary cool abilities, then got sidetracked. i remember my 1st game was being level 50 due to uncovering the greek history the world offers and never met Stentor yet 😅.
Those max level areas are literally just like 2-3 specific points on the whole worldmap, the END-GAME mythical bosses. Why make it sound like you encountered that all over the place? Those bosses are also very killable even if you're not max level you just have to get good I guess
You are the insane one. Odyssey is the worst thing in the franchise. It has no respect for the lore. The protagonist is atrocious and the writing is horrible. It has zero redeeming factors.
Assassin's Creed 2, Brotherhood, and 3 soundtracks are just so nostalgic, makes you want to shred a tear remembering good times playing these games...🥺
IMO syndicate is underrated. The historical accuracy and the general Victorian vibe is amazing. The AC storyline doesnt have to make the most sense, but i keep doing back to that game
For whatever it's worth, Odyssey is the only Assassin's Creed game I've ever played, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I think since I didn't have much investment in the overarching story of the games I was able to just enjoy messing around a lot. I loved taking down forts and recovering territories for Sparta and hunting down cultists. That said, I can totally see how it would he a bit of a let down to fans of the series because the story didn't feel very impactful or unique. Also, I completely agree with you about the bad voice acting and spongey enemies. Your videos rock, by the way, I always know I'll have a good laugh when I see you've posted!
As someone who IS an AC fan, I agree with you totally. That game gets a lot of hate, but it was one of the more fun games for combat. Unfortunately it suffers the same fate that many many many recent AC games suffer from - the story has almost nothing to do with AC. And actually from what I can remember, with that one, they took a really weird direction with the story that they DID bother to throw in there.
I have played every AC game on release date and odyssey is still one of my favourites. People gloss over a lot of flaws of the previous games, especially lack of innovation and depth in combat and stealth. They made ac2,brotherhood,revelations and then every sequel had missing features in parkour or combat and very few new mechanics. Odyssey was finally when I felt like I was playing a new game
The thing about Connor is that he may not be Ezio, but he had some pretty cool charm that we saw in the homestead missions and when talking to recruits
Most video gamers are way too lazy to do research into the communication styles of Native Americans. I did. What I found is that Connor may be the most thoroughly researched and well portrayed protagonist in the AC Universe. Here's an excerpt of what I discovered: Rules for Communication in many Native American cultures - 1. You should know someone well before speaking to them for long periods of time or confiding in them. 2. Children should not display themselves verbally in front of adults. 3. It is inappropriate to express emotions in public or around people you don't know very well, verbally or non-verbally. 4. You shouldn't ask direct questions or expect an immediate response from people you don't know very well. 5. It is inappropriate to verbally discipline or praise a child in public. It should be dealt with in private/quietly. 6. It is inappropriate to speak FOR someone else, no matter who that person is. Everyone is titled to their own opinion, even a child. 7. "In Indian conversations, it is not the person who speaks first who necessarily controls the topic. This is because an immediate response to what someone has said is NOT always expected, but may be delayed. The respondent therefore has control over the topic by choosing WHEN to speak and what to say." @@MrVvulf dude, that's absolutely awesome, I have always been interested in Native American culture, and have done some studying, but never this much, Kudos to you my friend.
@@MrVvulf 1. Not all Native American cultures were the same, but I'm guessing these relate to those in that part of America. 2. Whilst he may reflect an accurate depiction of how the culture works, that doesn't actually make a particularly compelling main character. Especially when it isn't explained and he never has proper interactions with many other native Americans. He's not a particularly memorable protagonist in the series for most people. 3. When AC3 was released, Smartphones and personal computers/laptops were a lot less commonplace. People outside of America are very unlikely to have any books on the subject in any libraries where they live as it is a very niche subject. The world of AC3 has many eccentric characters and famous figures and Connor feels rather bland by comparison. This isn't inherently a bad thing, but people just came from 3 back to back Ezio games. It's certainly a lot better than having an annoying protagonist, like Fallout 4. Rule of thumb, don't rely on people having prior knowledge to appreciate something. Show/explain it naturally and people aren't going to want to research something further if they aren't gripped by it. Compare this to Origins where there are plenty of things throughout the game to inspire further research into the subject.

Odyssey's main character isn't Alexios. The canon character is Kassandra. And in ancient Greece women were barely seen as people. Ancient Greek philosophers literally considered slaves and women to have weaker brains and less "logos" than free Greek men. So Kassandra being an outlaw mercenary constantly running from other mercenaries and just killing whomever she wants, makes a lot more sense than having her be an "important" person politically or in status. She's a roaming badass, who doesn't fit into society, not only because of ancient aliens magic DNA.
My favorite ACs are Freedom Cry and Rogue, I love these smaller side stories so more than the big padded out games. Also, on a side note, I recently had to study for an American history exam and really got the urge to replay AC3, even though it wasn't my favorite by a long shot. Still stuck with me, I guess.
I noticed that I enjoy the RPG games more the more I play them. With some time inbetween ofcourse, proving to me that nostalgia is a big part in this kind of ranking. I really like Odyssey because Greece is so mesmerizing to me, the first time I played it I couln't bear the demigod build and the overall indestructible aura around Alexios/Kassandra. In terms of gameplay it's up there with Black Flag, Unity and Origins, at least for me.
Same. I didn't really understand where the abilities came from or why the weren't really explained until I played through all the DLC. It answered so many questions that I had. I love Greek Mythology so It's been my favorite open world Assassins Creed next to Black Flag. Not to mention getting to fight the Cyclops, Medusa and the Minotaur. Some of the best DLC I've played in a while was in Odyssey.
Same, Odyssey is full of historical tidbits with points of interest that pique players' interest (discovery tour ) making open-world exploration rewarding for me as an open-world and an arpg fan, notably, it's an improvement of Origin gameplay. I empathize with Bizly seeing it could be the openworld fatigue of playing all the AC games, and based on the scale of Odyssey, I haven't even finished the game yet or am willing to try Valhalla. edit: i appreciate Odyssey more now that Mirage multi-assassinations doesn't had unique animations.
It’s been banger after banger with Bizly’s uploads and I enjoy every second of it, me personally? Odyssey was S-Tier, I played it after meeting Kassandra in Valhalla because I was interested in her story and MAN, was it just so fun to play and I loved her energy, and I think Alexios being Deimos made so much more sense narratively. I also loved giving a female protag the big spot light, and seeing her overcome obstacles and fight to keep her family together? That was beautiful to me, and the relationships she made along the way, overall, the game really hit me and is S-Tier in my opinion. I never really clicked with Valhalla like I did with Odyssey.
I feel like people give Odyssey too much "It's a bad game", in my opinion it's quite a good RPG open-world game. But it isn't or at least shouldn't be an Assassin's Creed game. There isn't even a hidden blade. As an open-world RPG, A-S tier. As an Assasin's Creed game? F tier in my opinion.
Odyssey is getting so much hate ATM (herding mentality) but it's a great time. Yes, it's bloated and there's probably too much stuff in terms of weapons and armour but you can skip as much of that as you want really. It's as good as any other AC game and as bad too. The way they've recreated ancient Greece is incredible. And it's definitely and unmistakably an AC game. The format just evolved is all - whether for good or bad.
@@fasteddyuk While I agree with much that you said and you have good points, I disagree that Odyssey is "as much of an AC game as any". It's more of a Witcher III copy. It focuses more a demigod's murder spree than assassination, the whole point of the franchise.
The world was beautiful, but the leveling process sucked IMO. It takes wayyyyyy too much time to gather and buy resources to upgrade weapons and armor.
This game was awesome to me. I have 100+ hours in this game, I completed like everything. I always loved the Ancient Greece and Sparta so the story line just hooked me but DUDE the Atlantis DLC was AMAZING!!
Valhalla is the only AC game I’ve ever played, but you have to finish the main story. I thought this game was really fun, I thought the time period was super cool, the idea of Vikings vs knights, and I thought the visuals were amazing
With Odyssey I had a love-hate relationship and you're probably at that point of the game where you just hate it and i feel you. At first, I loved it... The intro was awesome, the tutorial missions on Kephalonia were a nice way to introduce you to the game and the world. And also made you really curious about the rest of the unexplored Greece. Then at around middle of the game I was hating it. Felt like just doing chores and get things done from point A to point B on the map. I am a completionist so that didn't make my life any easier with this game. Then I ended up loving it again. Spending so much time with Alexios, I started growing fond of him. And the more I got deeper into the story, his interactions with the other characters like Phoibe, his mother, Brasidas, Barnabas, Herodotus, even Sokrates, his interactions with the random NPCs in side quests, made me really sympathize with Alexios. And the fact your sister(or brother, depends who you play with) being the antagonist made the story even more interesting because you always had the choices to either save your sister from the dark path or just kill her. I was set from the start to save her from the dark path and for me it felt like a really emotional adventure. Also, both DLCs (The Legacy of the Hidden Blade and Antlatis) were great addition and it really completed the canon story of the AC world. In LotHB we get to see the how Alexios/Kassandra and Aya are related and in the Atlantis DLC we get to see how Juno and Aita turned evil and how important the Staff of Hermes is. Now I really like to look at Odyssey with different eyes than I am looking at pre-Origins games. It is a different AC game but it is a good AC game in the end
We really do need an assassins creed in India! Not only is it the perfect parkour environment, but also there is SO MUCH going on there, they could place the game during the British raj (which would be greatly in line with the Pieces of Eden storyline because we have evidence from AC2) or during one of the great wars and conquests of the kingdoms...it would be just amazing
I love odyssey, probably cos it’s the first assassins creed I’ve played, since I wasn’t interested in it as a kid, it’s a type of game I like and I also love the setting and am really interested in Ancient Greece, but can understand if you don’t like it
Man I will never forget how I started my AC journey. I owned and played the first one and it was aight, then one day I was in the movie rental shop and saw the sequel. Rented it for one weekend and it blew my 10 year old mind at the time. I have played every main line entry since lol.
I'm so happy with the rating of Unity. For me it's the best one of the series so far. Peak mechanics, good story. Really wanted the series to follow up with the same mechanics and world-buiilding. The map was amazing too.
Unity still holds up today in my personal opinion. Especially with the mods ACU fixes to make the game better. The graphics, animations, and fluidity is just beyond its time. It’s hard to believe it’s already been 9 years (2014) since it released. Even playing it back then, I felt weird doing so because it blew me away as a kid 😂. Nowadays it’s RDR2 and TLOU2. Even then, Unity STILL blows me away. Every point he makes I agree! I couldn’t have said it better myself! Unity feels like such a strong potential point, but got lost like some ancient artifact. And we may never see such things again…until Ubisoft recovers it 😂
I disagree wholeheartedly with the story part for that game. It’s probably the worst in the entire series. The whole reason for reliving arno’s memories is completely null at the end of the story and that sucks. It makes the whole game feel like a waste of time.

@@undertall when it came out I played through most of the story and then was away from home for almost a year. The last thing I had done was the Apophis/Apep fight so it really stuck with me 😂 finished the game as soon as I was back. Bayek is my second favorite after Ezio, I’ve gotta replay it again
This game is just as loved if not more loved than Black Flag by many
Black flag was good but it aged awfully
Ezio, Edward and Bayek are the holy trinity of AC protagonists as well
I mostly agree with this list!
Same for me. Kassandra is soo good. One of my favourites protagonists.
For Valhalla, I progressed through the districts by level, making it a much more organic experience.
actually relatable for me, idk if its the localizaiton moment or something
started playing valhalla after binge watching The Last Kingdom and it made me love the new style of AC games. I maybe tried the other 2 for two hours total prior but now am watching this to find my next play lol. I will say the ending is beyond lukewarm you work so hard and gather all these allies thru the whole game to take over England and the final mission boils down to "the king ran away so we win!"
Have you killed all the order members cos then u see the king again

So BATMAN 😂

Exactly
It doesn’t bring you along the “assassin story” in the same way that BF does. BF isn’t a “pirate simulator”. Yes, Edward is a pirate, but along the way he develops into a master assassin. Kassandra is a much less developed main character who lives in a time where the assassins didn’t even exist. Odyssey is a great game, but it is much more of an era simulator in comparison to BF.

love ac odyssey, played as kassandra. from the way you were talking about it, i guess playing as her was the right move.
The game was clearly made to be played as Kassandra (she acts and talks like a real person), whereas Alexios acts and talks like an over-the-top villain.
i played as alexios and i saw nothing wrong with his voice acting
@@shrekgoodmeme4419agreed, I actually really liked his voice acting

It absolutely was not "meant" to be played without a hud. There's a ton of games that are fun without the hud, but it in no way was "meant" for it.
I love your tierlist vids. Im too busy to play all the games and you talking about them makes me feel like I did and satisfied with em
@@LabSkaterPussies OK but you can also argue that the grappling hook is very important. Considered that London’s buildings are very space out.
I really appreciate your positive outlook on these games man
Origins was my favorite because it was so beautiful and a breath of fresh air. Odyssey then took it too far in my opinion (good game tho but not AC at all). Now we are hoping for just a normal AC game so Origins failed in my book but i am so happy to have experienced the best main character for me, a great story and two very fun DLCs.
Origins is the best of the rpg trilogy and its not even close
@@bizlychannelYT Totally agree, and for all that didn't get a sequel Bayek was by far the most deserved of one.

Fellow Odyssey player here (157hrs in)
Just wanted to say, Odyssey is the storyline behind all Assassins creed game, spoiler alert, if you play through all the DLCs and even some lore friendly side quests.
This is the only man who had gotten me to watch an ad on a product I already have
Everything up to Unity is pure gold.
@@AndI0td763 Origins was freaking awesome man
This is an interesting video showing the lines between generations.
This is one of the best channels on YT right now. Keep it up bro!
Assassin's Creed Odyseey is not only the best game in the AC franchise, its one of the great games ever made. You sir, are utterly insane!
You are the insane one. Odyssey is the worst thing in the franchise. It has no respect for the lore. The protagonist is atrocious and the writing is horrible. It has zero redeeming factors.
Honest opinion, I played all of them apart from Mirage, and odyssey was the worst of them all, by a mile
Assassin's Creed 2, Brotherhood, and 3 soundtracks are just so nostalgic, makes you want to shred a tear remembering good times playing these games...🥺

It's very rare when I get to see new perspectives and appreciate different opinions. Amazing content.
IMO syndicate is underrated. The historical accuracy and the general Victorian vibe is amazing. The AC storyline doesnt have to make the most sense, but i keep doing back to that game
Odyssey is still my favorite, and set in ancient Greece. The dlcs are amazing.
Super good ass under rated TH-camr your editing skills are crazy
I have never seen anyone else appreciate Unity this much. Thank you, it is my favorite AC and needs more love
Here's an excerpt of what I discovered:
Rules for Communication in many Native American cultures -
The respondent therefore has control over the topic by choosing WHEN to speak and what to say."
Other rules consist of: Do not signal someone out directly, do not compete with answers, no answer can be said it is wrong, and do not gaze directly at someone the entire time they are talking.
These rules and communication aspects of the Native American culture can cause problems between other cultures trying to communicate with the Native American Culture. (Communication Styles of Indian Peoples by Mary Heit -AWASIS Journal)
@@MrVvulf dude, that's absolutely awesome, I have always been interested in Native American culture, and have done some studying, but never this much, Kudos to you my friend.
A protagonist’s personality shouldn’t be relegated to side missions
@@MrVvulf

I think it was very much deserved, from the clunky gameplay, wrong accents to the horrible story, it’s impressively bad

Assassins creed Rouge is so underrated so when I hear you talk so much good about it, it felt good in my soul
See i feel the opposite. as i played the wanna-be RPG games more the less I liked them.
Odyssey's greece was one of the best worlds i've ever been to. What I feel that really kills this game is its story.
When the AC players needed him he came back. Finally a deep diagnosis of what ails the franchise and what makes the franchise great.
I'm not exactly sure if you're joking or not lol But I don't think a tier list in a deep diagnosis are the same thing 😂
Ur content is so good and it weirdly specifically falls into a bizarre category of video essay/mix with other things. I vibe with it.
