I think the biggest thing with GTA IV's Liberty City is that it wasn't actually supposed to feel like New York as Americans see it. It's supposed to come from the eyes of someone who comes from Eastern Europe, almost blending the bleakness of that environment with the colorfulness of "The American Dream"
It may be because of the color filter, The Lost And Damned has an even more screwed up grainy filter that disappears and reverts back to the GTA IV default one after the completion of the storyline, and The Ballad of Gay Tony completely lacks it
GTA IV is my favourite. I’ve played Chinatown, San Andreas, IV and V. I couldn’t disagree more about the atmosphere of this game. This city feels more alive than any other setting in this franchise. It feels bleak, grimy, deprived. It’s probably the only GTA with a mature perspective of criminal life, you feel this constantly in the environment. The understated saturation, in the correct lighting, makes the concrete streets look so real. Every other game by comparison is too colourful and detracts from their realism. And dude, the soundtrack??? Turning the jazz radio on and cruising through this dense city as this disturbed military veteran makes you feel like you’re playing Taxi Driver. I loved the car physics in this game. It’s the only entry in which the driving mechanics are an actual skill that you develop the more you play. You will probably suck at high speed chases when you start, it requires focus and dedication to successfully manoeuvre your car. But this means that every successful moment you have is completely earned, it’s up to you 100% to not fuck things up and wipe yourself out in a high intensity moment. And the same principles apply to combat. I couldn’t stand the hard lock on aim, so I played the entire game with free aim, and this made it so much better. Once again you develop your aiming skills so that you can proficiently complete your jobs. If you don’t use cover wisely you will also be shredded by gunfire. These more independent mechanics add so much more stakes to the gameplay and totally plays into the criminal experience, it’s grounded. I think that’s what GTA IV does best. It’s more of a crime drama than an action film like 5 is. Also, Roman is probably the most likeable and well written side character in any GTA game. Seriously, who would compete, Lamar? He’s funny but not nearly as well written. Your description of Roman as the “oh no i fucked up again haha” character is a huge over simplification. Maybe at the start of the game, but for the majority of the game it’s Roman who suffers at the hands of Niko’s actions. Both his reaction to having his business and apartment burned to the ground and his conversation with Niko about revenge after he kills Darko Brevic is some of the best dialogue in the entire series hands down. Dude goes through some horrible shit in this game fr. GTA 5 dumbs down everything 4 did so well.
damn bruh I thought gta 4 was pretty good my main issue tho was with the world it felt kinda dead to me not as cool of a dark aspect like Gotham in the Arkham series I also thought the villain was lackluster
I enjoyed the side activities and dating stuff in GTA 4. I feel like it made it feel a little more real. I also think for the story alone I would rank GTA 4 up in S tier.
I agree the gta games with the best storylines are GTA IV,San Andreas and Vice City.I just like GTA V for the heists, animals being in the game, the setting,Michaels wife and kids and having 3 playable protagonists
the hangout in this game would've been great if you're not forced to do so (if you refuse to hangout with your friends they'd get butthurt or something)
it lacked side activities SA had, it brought dating ,with Densie she would even drive by on Ballas, also you had pool on barss, four different arcade games like go go space monkey, sky diving from mountains, burglary (you could rob and enter gang houses they fight back) and so much more. feature wise SA, story wise 4, SA and 4 are tied as top best GTAs
GTA IV was perfect for the 9 yr old that I was, story was sooo deep and niko was easy to root for. Driving and physics were enjoyable to me and it was different from san andreas which was my first GTA. SA might be the best overall (yes better than 5 imo as a game overall) but IV was my childhood and by far my favorite.
Happy to see someone say "Every Grand Theft Auto Game" and ACTUALLY PLAY every GTA game, the PSP Stories games are always missed which is a shame because Vice City Stories is my favourite GTA game.
if only rockstar fucking ported it to mobile. it the only gta i have left to beat and i cant because i dont have a controller for pc and my phone sucks too much to emulate it
I personally think IV is the best with the atmosphere. I can see how you may not feel like you're in control with the car because of the learning curve but it takes the atmosphere and amps it up to 11. The game was definitely the GTA 3 of the HD universe. By that I mean the side stuff is minimal compared to GTA 5 (because the story in 4 is way more focused and stronger)
GTA V was a pivot point in so many people's lives who played video games. The fact that it has been relevant for the last 10 years says a lot, and San Andreas still is getting love over 2 decades later. But there was something special about V because it was a long wait from GTA IV. It was the first game I picked up at a midnight release, waiting in line to get my copy, talking with everyone about it.
GTA III will always hold a special place in my heart. While I never actually played the game the way I was supposed to, driving around the map and crashing cars as a kid was so much fun. I even did the glitch that allowed you to skip to the second island back in the day
I did the same. Not even sure I knew about missions. On VC I tried doing missions but I sucked. SA was the first I finished. Still haven't done III or VC, probably won't
@@WideOldDan I feel like you might be facing an issue completing the helicopter mission in vice city but I can now do that mission in one try Just use a controller and that mission becomes a cake walk once you know what ur doing Other than that gta vice city is a pretty sweet game and is easy but some missions can be challenging
GTA IV is what introduced me to the series and is currently the only GTA game I've played. I was three years old when the game came out, but I remember my dad bought it while we were taking a day trip to best buy maybe a few years after. Growing up I would watch my dad play video games on our PS3, most of which were Call of Duty and other war games, so of course I watched my dad play GTA IV. In fact, I think it's only second to TLOU when it comes to games I care about because it was a bonding experience between me and my dad. And yes my dad let his six year old daughter watch him play GTA IV, but the only conditions my parents gave me if I were to watch was to "not repeat anything you hear in the game."
I have a similar relationship with my dad. He is the one who got me into games in the first place with shit like oblivion and unreal tournament. This comment is making me feel like I should go visit him and bring my ps5 hahaha.
The whole GTA IV is honestly so upsetting to hear. It's still to this day above and beyond my favorite. The numerous highlights of the game were never mentioned & glossed over in your quick mention of the game. You focused so much on the driving & radio that you never mentioned the dozens of other unique or fun mechanics the game allows you to do or the missions that they get Niko into. The characters from Little Jacob to Packie are amazing. The mobster/mafia themes were on point for a Godfather/ Sopranos / GoodFellas generation. And the graphics at the time for the consoles they came out on had me jaw dropped about Times Square; definitely not disappointed or depressed. Niko's progression felt the most genuine out of all the titles so when you finally got hold of Playboys' penthouse or the Middle Park East place, you felt like you earned it & achieved something. Compare that to when Lester calls Franklin saying for "tax purposes" he was being gifted a mansion in the hills, just doesn't hit or feel nearly the same. Its those little decisions and moments that make GTA IV so damn unique, memorable & favorited by many.
It's just preference. I dislike the game because of the bleak atmosphere that I cannot have fun in. You like that sort of thing so you like the game. That's it
GTA IV is my favorite one. I have the most play time on that game. It was just so fun and for the time it was crazy because there wasn’t a single game like it. Plus it had the best mission ever being the HEAT bank heist
The revisionist history on GTA V is crazy. 10 years ago when the game came out it was universally regarded as one of the best games ever. But because of Take Two and Rockstar's poor handling of the game in the past couple of years, people now all of the sudden want to say BS like GTA V wasn't a good game and that its not even a top 2 GTA game. When I know that when the game first game out litteraly everybody said it was the best game Rockstar ever created.
You're right. GTA V is the best one, easily. San Andreas with modern improvements is the only other S tier. I get bored with all the others now, knowing I could be playing those two instead.
GTA V does have its problem, but at the end of the day GTA V was still very impressive for what it is. I remember when it came out back in the 360 and PS3, and just how mind blowing the game was
I love GTA IV, but it is sort of refreshing to see this perspective. It’s been a decade of people pretending as if everyone loved that game immediately and didn’t act like V was an improvement. I love V as well for very different reasons, but it’s just nice to see someone actually articulate criticism that used to be more common. Everyone turned on V after that Crowbcat comparison video and all the bad business practices with GTA Online, but really 5 at its best is a great encapsulation of the series as a whole. Even a character like Trevor (who’s now more criticized) represents that rampage player mindset and distills them into a person. Every main character in the game kinda serves a different archetype or play style. 4 is like a gritty 70’s crime drama and that’s awesome, but 5 is like a 90’s Jerry Bruckheiner produced action movie mixed with a prestige HBO series….and that’s awesome too.
in retrospective, GTA V feels souless and hollow generally. also, most people who praise on V never even tried the storymode wich is the main point of a GTA game. just like the ones who hate IV never even tried and / or finished the story mode.
@@TheRastafarianStuff one of the dumbest ways of looking at things. 4 good, 5 bad. We get it, gta 5 fans are just dumb 12 year olds with no critical thinking while gta 4 fans are smart, mature intellectuals like you.
@@TheRastafarianStuffthat’s just not true. I’ve played through GTA 5 like 10 times at this point and I still love the game. The story just has a lot of charm. It has drama between characters, but it also has completely insane action. I’ve tried playing through GTA 4 four times, but I could only finish it once. The story is interesting, but the game itself isn’t entertaining. The missions are very repetitive and not unique at all. 4 kind of forgot the point of the GTA games, which is to have fun and become successful by committing crimes. It’s not fun and by the end you’ve lost more than you’ve gained. GTA 5 is not soulless, maybe you should go through the story again and really pay attention.
Yeah, that’s what drives me insane still that people hold GTA IV as this timeless masterpiece like it wasn’t absolutely shat on and criticised at launch for being a toned down, boring and sloppy execution of a GTA game, and the reception for it started to turn more positive after the release of TBOGT and GTA V. Hell, even Rockstar themselves knew that they had done so much wrong with IV. It sort of solidified IV as the ‘black sheep’ of the series in a lot of people’s eyes, eapecially when they came away unsatisfied from V and replayed IV. I’m personally not the biggest fan of IV for many reasons and find literally any other GTA game infinitely more fun and replayable. It is refreshing to have a content creator not dickride a demonstrably flawed game for nostalgia reasons.
it’s the type of thing where the algorithm doesn’t care about those who deserve attention the most, so most of the attention is filtered from other channels
The unbridled excitement I feel when I see a new bizlychannel video is unmatched. I love the video game “documentary” style that this man, summoning salt, and nakeyjakey have perfected
The npcs in GTA IV could take more damage before dying as well. You could light someone up with like 4 bullets and they just fall on the ground writhing. Love the detail in that one.
@@1LIFEtoWINAs someone that lives near NYC, you got to look at the specific neighborhood because there ain't no way you're telling me Greenwich Village ain't got nothing but a bunch of stoners
Gta 4 mission design was just so inexcussibly bland for it's time. "Drive 15 minutes across the map, shoot x number of guys, drive 15 minutes back" NEXT MISSION "Drive 15 minutes across the map, shoot x+1 number of guys, drive 15 minutes back" Did a GTA marathon myself recently, and was shocked how much less I enjoyed 4 than even Chinatown Wars.
Even GTA 3 had more interesting design. In most GTA games the story is there to justify the missions, but in GTA 4 the missions are there to justify the missions. It feels like they just wrote the story and only realized that they also needed to add missions after completing the story. Every mission starts with Niko complaining to some guy, than killing some other guy and then complaining again. And this game is supposedly underrated.
@@greenwizard7592 look l don't care what you say I'm not hype for gta 6 gta 6 is gonna be trash l don't care you say gta 4 is overrated gta 4 is better than gta 5
I personally love GTA 2 and its arcadey campiness. It's strategy at breakneck speed. Progressing through the game by simply getting a high enough score/cash, getting score multipliers by completing several missions in a row without dying, getting more lives by completing rampages (Yes GTA 2 works on limited lives like Mario.) And getting/losing respect from gang factions by simply massacring them or their enemies in the street, to which they attack you on sight in their turf with more powerful weapons depending on how much they hate you, causing you to balance and strategize who hates you to what level in order to be able to complete missions on their turf easier. Its all ridiculous, but its ridiculously fun and charmingly to the point for me. Its also noticeably more challenging which is good because a lot of the later games become too easy once you've been familiar with the formula for decades.

I personally love the atmosphere in GTA IV. I know people shit on the "brown games" but this one does something with the light and colors that makes it feels so warm and cozy. It's the perfect autumn game for me, just driving around and going out with Niko's friends.
GTA San Andreas is still the GOAT among the GTA Games with one of the best Protagonists, Antagonists, Side characters, music, etc. And NB is still the Best GTA Protagonist OFA. He's not like other GTA characters who just take up a job given to him and blindly listens to him. He has values, is Sarcastic and is even willing to throw hands with his employers
Anticipated congratulations for 100k subs man. Your videos have been a mainstay of my daily youtube fix, by how fresh and likeable your personality is, I'm sure 100k will just be the beginning of greater things
Respect for giving your honest opinions on GTA 4. GTA 4 has a very passionate fanbase on the internet, so it would be very easy to pander to them, but you instead just said it how you really felt. I definitely agree with most of your points about the game. I don’t think GTA 4 is a bad game, but it just doesn’t really work for me. It lacks fun. I personally thought the DLC was way better than the main game itself.
The love of the empire building in Vice City Stories makes me want to recommend the Godfather games. Their main focus was on you building up your own crime family/empire and taking over crime rackets. They've got that early 2000'a jank but are pretty damn solid IMO.
I live in New York City, and for the time of year that GTA-IV takes place (mid-September to late November), the tone makes so much sense. You get that mid-to-late fall haze-the days are getting shorter, the weather is getting colder, there is less to do for fun, and soon you're going to be trapped in your studio apartment because it is going to be snowing out. I get it; you either came to New York in mid-spring to late summer when it's not so bad out.
GTA 5 is genuinely the most fun game be ever played and everytime it revisit it and go through the story again it just feels like a new experience each time. Genuinely my favorite rockstar game.
and most of them are absolutely useless. after you do the first heist you can get the best weapons available and the guns before that are useless. i rarely used the ak-47 or half the shotguns. what was the point of having 9 pistols. EFLC did add some new weapons tho. Theres a mod that puts the stuff from the dlcs into 4
the gta 4 missions are insanely repetitive, thats my only complain (other than the terrible side activities), go to a place, drive to another place, shoot some guys, go back home, and do it 90 times over
Didn't feel like the video was over 40 minutes long , thanks to YT algorithm for recomending me this masterpiece of a person and Congrats on 100k brother 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Considering you were so critical of GTA IV's dull colouring, I'm rather disappointed that you mentioned TBOGT without giving it credit for presenting H.D. Liberty City with a more vibrant aesthetic.
Same here...my first GTA was SanAndreas then I got GTA5 afterwards back then...nowadays I'd bought all the other GTAs to play chronologically...and tbf. they're all great...
You seriously are becoming my favorite TH-camr. Keep up the great work and I love ya man. Not sure if you need ideas for ranking videos but I would def recommend mud in video games. Jokes aside I would recommend rank/playing all halo, gears, and call of duty would be dope.
GTA IV is like Uncut Gems to me. I recognize it as a very well made piece of art that I should love, and I do acknowledge, but I just wish someone would turn it the fuck off. Every character is constantly screaming and I don’t care to hear it. It’s not intense or dramatic, it’s just exhausting
I want to tell you a story that i hope you'll read. Back in the day when me and my sister were younger, around the time GTA 5 just came out. Me and my sister still played the 3D games on the PS2. She would play GTA 3 and Vice City, while I played Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories because my sister didn't like them. I spent so much time of my childhood playing Liberty City Stories, driving around and listening to Lips 106 and Head Radio. I never did much than the first few missions and used cheat codes to drive around Staunton Island. Recently I went back to actually beat the game and I found and old save, saved on the year 2012, before I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes that same year. I was 8 at the time. I hope you read this Bebop, if you do, thank you!
i’ve never played most of the games bizly talks about so to me everything he says is true always. i love his editing and the way he delivers information and videos like these have quickly become my favorite. keep making content you love dude it’s fun to watch
I feel that being purposeful in art direction is invaluable regardless of whether people like it, especially in the case of GTA 4 and other games that strive for realism.
I actually never did the Vice City golf court mission without the missions. You can park a car next to the ramp thing by the side of the security entrance, jump over and done. Snipe the guy and drive off.
Took me the entire video to realize I don't know who you are, this video is only 2 hours old, and that this channel is as small as it is. I just happened to search for a GTA ranking and this was already the top search. Just such a comfortable, familiar vibe to your work. Glad I'm here before 100k!
Thank you for actually keeping it real on gta 4, it’s not bad by any means but rockstar made some really strange decisions with that game and most of them didn’t pay off too well.
I love Gta 4 and I personally think it has the best gameplay, physics, characters and story of any Gta but once you complete the story there's literally nothing to do, Dont get me started on the lack of properties, car customisation and weapon variety. Gta 4 is the defnition of a flawed masterpiece
The problem with people i see when they say they don’t like gta v, is that they want the story to be shoved in their faces, the want the story to be directly told to them(is what i am understanding from everyone who says don’t like the story and that the characters don’t seem to be understandable). But in gta v, to fully understand the game and it’s story, you actually have pay attention and piece things together with all the other things that are happening. You also have to find out some of the lore. When i first played i was very confused about what the story was, it didn’t seem straight forward. Then I found videos on gta v(I am a newer player)and actually started to understand the story. The way Rockstar weaves the characters is amazing. On the top, Trevor is shown to be a crazy psychopath, but on the inside he can be soft sometimes, he also the most loyal of the three. Speaking of three, all the three endings actually show the character arc’s ends. For example in ending A we see trevor is betrayed once again by michael, as he helps franklin, and if franklin doesn’t shoot trevor, then michael does. From this we see that in this ending michael didn’t change and franklin did what michael would’ve done. In ending B, we see franklin killing michael. In this ending we see michael had started to change, he got his life back together and his daughter was about to go to college. But then franklin came to kill michael as he followed in his footsteps and betrayed him, as michael did in prologue mission. In this ending we see michael bettering himself but ultimately dying to his friend who he treated like his son. A differencewe see in this ending is that in A michael helps franklin but in B trevor doesn’t, and lastly C. Ending C (which is canon) is the ending where they put aside their differences and past mistakes and know that it was all done in good intent. This ending shows michael growing as a person and trevor forgiving michael for betraying him. Franklin in this saves his friends and becomes his own personality I would say.(i need to replay ending C as i forgot what happens to franklin)
Watching your videos is like talking to your friend about video games. I feel like every gaming channel now days is "why this game sucks" or "why this games is amazing". You just seem to genuinely enjoy games and you're not afraid to give your opinions.
exactly the vibe im going for bro really just care about making something fun and easy to watch rather than "making a statement". Glad it comes across that way
I think, it's bit unfair put GTA 4 in B rank and GTA 5 as S rank, but it's based on nostalgia you have rank gta games which is not wrong we all grown up with gta games, but story and experience I think GTA 4 should be S rank, where GTA 5 after I finished gta 5 story i don't remember any single thing about gta 5 except when Trevor came back to Michael and rescue his daughter. That's only part I remember.
Yeah, as part of the kinda resurgence of gta 4, like people going back and going, "it's way better than you remember which led me to play it for the first time, i appreciate how you stood your ground without going "you're all wrong" as there are big problems like the driving and checkpoints which I wanted to pull my hair out at some missions. On the other hand I enjoyed how RPG-like it felt building relationships with the characters and getting upgrades from them and the acting is really good and loved the combat. But to go on to Niko I think what people liked about him beyond his "nuanced archetype" is how in control he felt? Like in San Andrea's or gta v it's always you getting ordered around by an asshole till you eventually do something in retaliation. With Niko he is never bullied or pushed around and always stands up to or mocks his quest giver as they aren't using him he's using them to get his goal and lets them know this to their face. Plus he is just genuinely kinda charming (in a weird way) and has all these subtle quirks like he always refuses alcohol and cracks jokes to show he sees through the phonies he talks to. So yeah as a guy who played the game like 3 months ago all the way through for the first time that's what I got from playing Niko. (Though if you just don't like the archetype then there's no problem and it's just your opinion)
the driving was great imo but thats personal. i have i love hate relationship with the bike handling though. gta 4 did have a feature where you could instantly restart a mission from your phone though. better than driving across half the map or reloading a save like in the older games. gta 5 made it a bit too easy.
13:30 you CAN get in without losing your weapons lol theres a waist high ledge at the front left of the entrance to the golf course. Just park a car in front of it, jump on top, and hop on over. EZ PZ.
GTA V is a game I play for a bit every few months, specifically online, even with no one to play with. Almost every time I do I have a good time tho. However GTA IV is by far my favorite. For 2 main reasons, the physics and the talk radio. The physics of bodies in gunfights and people that got hit by cars or objects that cars hit into them was crazy. Also the crash physics were fun and being launched out of the car was more common and survivable actually, which I enjoy. I think the radio shows made the atmosphere of driving around feel fun. The atmosphere was dark and crude and I think that actually does fit with New York in my experience visiting family there. That darkness mixed with the crazy stuff they'd say making me laugh just always got me. Liberty city stories on the psp was one of my favorite childhood games. I got the game from my uncle and I played it so much, over the course of like 5 or more years, that the disc stopped working. I had cheat codes memorized for over a dozen different things and the codes were like 7+ buttons each lol
GTA IV is my personal favorite but you've moved my opinion a bit when you pointed out the dreariness of the games. I actually somewhat like the driving physics -- though they were jarring at first, moving from GTA III to this -- but the city felt enormous, I loved the sense of progression you gained through doing the story, and I thought the story was far better than anything V or other games had to offer. That being said, I don't think they encapsulate the potential of a game based in NYC, which is, as you said, a grey concrete blob. I do really enjoy the use of interiors though, something I feel went by the wayside afterward as well as prior. Interiors, I will add, that were largely accessible without a loading screen and were actually part of the outside world, including in multiplayer. The missions are really repetitive is my main gripe, other than the dreariness.
I was literally waiting with anticipation for a new video to drop, and I'm so glad one did. I can't overstate it enough that this dude is SERIOUSLY underrated 🙌💯
I personally love the GTA 4 driving physics so I hope in GTA 6 they will have some kind of option like if you change your tires to a certain kind or something it would go to GTA 4 driving physics and you would have some other options for it too and they would also have one for the regular GTA driving physics and they would also have drift tires off-road tires and all of that too
I don't know, I kinda love Roman. He's so goofy and funny... and the ending where he dies is really emotional. Along with Lester Crest and Yusuf Amir, he is one my favourite characters in the HD universe.
5:50 The story is essentially Bubba works for the Vercotti Family, kills their rival mobboss, flees to San Andreas, works for a chinese guy, gets chased by a bounty hunter named Bryson, works for El Burro, kills Bryson, goes with El Burro to Vice City, gets blackmailed by a crooked cop, kills El Burro, works with the cop, Jamacan guy bails you out and you kill the cop
He’s not even hating it bruh he gave it a B tier. Y’all act like people who call the game anything but a 10/10 S tier masterpiece thinks the game is trash
I love how in every GTA ranking video you'll bump into IV fanboys not accepting the fact that it's not put into S tier. A solid game, yes. The story is amazing, yes. The atmosphere is amazing, yes...but the beauty of GTA lies in it's multidimensionality and in every single other aspect, IV is lackluster when compared to V or San Andreas. Period.
Totally agree. I love GTA IV and find it to be a great game, but to me it feels like the least Grand Theft Auto game in the series, meaning that it feels like an outlier in the series, for both good and bad reasons. While the other GTA games are known for their fast-paced action, mayhem and exaggeration of reality, GTA IV feels much more like a dark, serious, Soprano and Scarface-esque crime movie. While that theme is great in it’s own ways, I personally much prefer the fast action and expansive customisation of San Andreas and V. They just feel much more like GTA games to me
I agree but I still think gta 4 is objectively the best game of the franchise. I like that it actually takes itself atleast a little seriously while still having time for some comedic relief, it feels like all the other gta games are a satire of american culture while gta 4 is more of a criticism of american culture. My personal favorite will always be san andreas, though.
1st I wanna say I love ur videos and yes ofc I’d love to see a San Andres video. 2nd tho, a good hearted criticism: while the vast majority of ur editing is really impressive, I do have to say I’d like to see more of the examples you talk about in ur script in the final edit. It’s totally ur baby tho, keep makin videos, ur a cool guy!
Would you ever play or rate puzzle games? Something like the legacy escape games or witch’s pranks frogs fortune, 5bin games is an amazing developer and I think it could be a hell of a video, but it might be a lot to get through the puzzles lol
I always love your videos and your editing style! (I may have used your Batman tier list as an example in a essay about the differences between TH-cam creators and I got 100% so thanks bebo)
Gta 4 objectively has the best shooting, I dunno about the auto aim on controller but the shooting with mouse felt fluid. The impact of bullets hitting the enemy is just so much more satisfying than Gta 5 and it introduced the cover system in the gta series. This is the segment which you completely ignored which is the meat of this game
GTA 4 is objectively the best GTA game of all time, period. This video just popped into my recommended and I skipped to the end to see his tier list- needless to say it's completely wrong, and I won't be watching any more videos from this dolt.
@@kingconcerto5860 gta 4 “objectively” has clunky gameplay with poor repetitive mission design and an empty open world. The only good about it is the story which even then isn’t as strong as people say it is

@@dud324 you shoot people in every gta but you’re not always just shooting. In gta sa there’s missions where you’re turning red necks into red mist with a combine or blowing up a crack factory. I like that you mentioned how the games get progressively less gamey and more narrative-driven and restrictive. It really stands out when you examine them in chronological order. I also think that San Andreas struck the best balance between the two approaches.
You have to aknowledge that niko bellic is european and the cars in europe are way smaller than in the US. I love that you can see how niko struggles with cars that big with in the controls of the driving. Its extremly immersive if you ask me.
My first GTA story: i was probly 12, downloaded a PC demo of 1 or 2, not even sure. Played countless hours while jamming to Sublime self titled album and the Weezer blue album (burned on CD). Absolutely some core memories, such a good time in my life
GTAIII was the first one I ever played so it will always be an S tier in my mind. I taught my dad and his buddies how to steal a cop car and that made me feel like a genius 😂
Last video I saw this channel , the AC ranking video there were like less than 50k subscribers, but I thought the channel was good and this guy is kinda fun & knows his games. Now im seeing more than 150k subscribers, good going my friend.
Im replaying through gta V right now and i dont understand the argument for trevor being so 1 dimensional. Yeah hes insane but the back story and little bits and pieces of his character that comes from say opening the door for lester because he’s crippled, or driving back patricia to medrano saying that everyone he loves leaves him connecting to what he tells micheal when he goes to north yankton. Hes really an in depth character when you start looking through the fine line. Hes all the worst parts of micheal and franklin but is the glue that sticks everything together. Thank you for coming to my ted talk
Absolutely. This is a good observation. People give the V story and characters way too much shit now, but there’s a lot more going on then it’s given credit.
he's the character with most depth and better played out of all main and secondary characters in V. the rest are empty, might be the voice actors might be the art style.
Niko Bellic is still the Best GTA Protagonist in my honest opinion. I can understand why the story in some perspective like yours may not have perfectly narrated his Revenge Story overall because of his other goal of working for dangerous people for money to create a living for him and for Roman which kinda got in the way of his goal in finding Darko and deciding his fate as revenge for betraying him, but I still think the story was brilliant and just goes to show Niko has other priorities as well, but as long as it leads him to finding Darko which is why I think all the missions despite most missions having simple repetitive formats of *_go here and shoot people_* like the classic missions of the GTA Franchise to begin with since GTA 1, and ones that are entirely unique, has overall contributed to the progressing of the story well, it just takes some time is all. CJ was my childhood that I absolutely idolized, and maybe Tommy a little bit, but I've grown to love Niko as a person whom I wished I could simply be there to comfort him in his dark times and wished I could also be that one dumb cheerful femboy twink friend for him that he needs to cheer him up in his moments of guilt, depression, and trauma, kind of like Roman or Katie. _Speaking of _*_Roman,_* I still like Roman despite him making dumb decisions due to his gambling addiction, I never considered him to be annoying, not even his worst phone call timings which is just funny stuff, but rather just straight up silly as Brucie which I'd argue are by far the funniest side characters in the game next to Little Jacob simply because of his gibberish accent that even Niko used to find trouble trying to understand him, but still, nothing beats Niko's Sarcasm. For a really dark game, GTA IV sure has the best sense of humor in the franchise, probably better than San Andreas but that's just me, because IV's humor isn't satire most of the time if I recall correctly, but simply expresses the characters' personality which are absolutely great and well-written, but then again, that could also be said for the other GTA games. To start with, Niko came to a new land seeking for a new beginning, peace, as well as a redemption to try and escape his sinister past which he had a lot of trauma and guilt for where he wanted to fight in a war back when he was young which he then mentioned in a dialogue that he was stupid now that he has suffered the consequences through experiencing his friends and fellow soldiers' deaths, betrayal, violence, and pain, lots and lots of insufferable pain, and as a result, he became a broken man who had _"killed people, smuggled people, and sold people,"_ dumb things he did where got involved with some idiots after the war. He's basically the GTA Kratos; reaching the shores of a new land now as an old and wiser yet still a very grumpy man, but unlike Kratos who had killed Zeus for betraying him and thus ending his quest for Vengeance, Niko's search for his former childhood friend who betrayed him and his friends by setting him up for $1000 has only just begun. But to think, this all began because of Goran, a friend that Darko and Niko shared, who betrayed Darko first, thus turning him vengeful, thus killing Goran and his allies by betraying the whole gang with Niko included, and thus turning HIM vengeful, thinking all of his friends were innocent. That's GTA IV's backstory for ya. *Betrayal begets Betrayal.* There's more where that came from, like Niko seeing _50 children sitting in a row against the church wall with each of their _*_throats cut and their hands chopped off._* Don't forget this story comes from a Driving Game.

Unpopular opinion- Gta 3 and 4 were bangers when they launched but were quickly made considerably less fun compared to their respective follow ups (vice city and San Andreas then gta5) Though I consider 3 and 4 lower teir, liberty city stories and tales from liberty city DLCs really made me love liberty city again.

That's a good point!
I think it feels like New York as someone who’s lived there
@@meetbythecreek Same. I've lived in brooklyn and the game was spot on
It may be because of the color filter, The Lost And Damned has an even more screwed up grainy filter that disappears and reverts back to the GTA IV default one after the completion of the storyline, and The Ballad of Gay Tony completely lacks it
Has someone who grew up there and is currently visiting the bronx. It feel like ny. It just doesn't feel like ny through an eyes of tourist.
GTA 5 dumbs down everything 4 did so well.
same, i loved V but IV holds so many memories when i was playing it
damn bruh I thought gta 4 was pretty good my main issue tho was with the world it felt kinda dead to me not as cool of a dark aspect like Gotham in the Arkham series I also thought the villain was lackluster

Absolutely, likewise!
Yeah Gta 4 and San Andreas I think are the only games I played to the end
GTA IV was perfect for the 9 yr old that I was, story was sooo deep and niko was easy to root for. Driving and physics were enjoyable to me and it was different from san andreas which was my first GTA. SA might be the best overall (yes better than 5 imo as a game overall) but IV was my childhood and by far my favorite.
The physics in GTA IV was SO alluring to me as someone who only had GTA SA.

The VCPR radio station in VCS is funny as all heck. Moorhead Rides Again and The Time Ranger show Rockstar's writing at its absolute best.
It was the first game I picked up at a midnight release, waiting in line to get my copy, talking with everyone about it.
thats just the online mostly. if it didnt blow up like it did we would have probably another r* game and singleplayer by now
GTA III will always hold a special place in my heart.

San Andreas is PEAK GTA. The amount of content in that game is groundbreaking to this day.
You were 3 when GTA IV came out? Fuck, I feel old😭
The whole GTA IV is honestly so upsetting to hear.
Thank goodness. A sane GTA IV fan that makes logical arguments without discrediting GTA V. Well done sir
It's just preference. I dislike the game because of the bleak atmosphere that I cannot have fun in. You like that sort of thing so you like the game. That's it
The story was great but it lacked diversity which San Andreas had.
GTA IV is my favorite one. I have the most play time on that game. It was just so fun and for the time it was crazy because there wasn’t a single game like it. Plus it had the best mission ever being the HEAT bank heist
Not to knock the guys video cause his work is pretty good, but it was obvious that he played maybe an hour or two and stopped.
31:16 Fun Fact: GTA Chinatown Wars is actually surprisingly* part of of the HD Universe
That doesnt make a lot of sense
ALSO YOU EDITED FOR KWEBBLEKOP WHAT??? I used to be such a huge fan of their trio, and was an og back in the day. Full circle moment

Best comment on the whole gta 4 vs gta 5 argument by far
in retrospective, GTA V feels souless and hollow generally. also, most people who praise on V never even tried the storymode wich is the main point of a GTA game. just like the ones who hate IV never even tried and / or finished the story mode.

Exactly, i play gta 4 every October, perfect "cloudy day" game too. Almost 2 decades later and still mad immersive.

I live in New York City, and for the time of year that GTA-IV takes place (mid-September to late November), the tone makes so much sense.
I just wanted protagonists I didn't hate. I hate Michael and Trevor and am just eh on Franklin.
GTA IV in B is all I need to know about your channel
Gta 4 will always be my favorite out of the bunch. Its just so good and fun with gta 5 coming in close
Niko and Tommy are some of my favorite protagonists. Would be interesting if Rock Star ever has a story line that puts either of them at odds.
On the other hand
I enjoyed how RPG-like it felt building relationships with the characters and getting upgrades from them and the acting is really good and loved the combat.
I think one thing i love about the heist in storymode is that you can choose to either be stealthy or loud and proud
Watched a few videos now and can confirm this is a seriously underrated channel
I was literally waiting with anticipation for a new video to drop, and I'm so glad one did. I can't overstate it enough that this dude is SERIOUSLY underrated 🙌💯
Glazing
33:27 that's an absolutely insane lore drop
I personally love the GTA 4 driving physics so I hope in GTA 6 they will have some kind of option like if you change your tires to a certain kind or something it would go to GTA 4 driving physics and you would have some other options for it too and they would also have one for the regular GTA driving physics and they would also have drift tires off-road tires and all of that too
i think having options for it in the settings similar to how spiderman 2 has swing assist options would be dope
I don't know, I kinda love Roman. He's so goofy and funny... and the ending where he dies is really emotional. Along with Lester Crest and Yusuf Amir, he is one my favourite characters in the HD universe.
Seeing Biz hit 100k is sick. Glad that boy is getting recognition. His style is great 🔥
14:34 I mean, Lance was in the Chopper when the Deal was happening in the Intro of Vice City. His brother got killed and Tommy lost his money 😅
It’s crazy that a game that is still the most recent installment and is still getting updated can give you feelings of nostalgia
My favorite is either GTA 4 or GTA:VCS.
Bebo one of the few youtubers who can make a sponsored segment enjoyable
GTA 4 HATE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
He’s not even hating it bruh he gave it a B tier. Y’all act like people who call the game anything but a 10/10 S tier masterpiece thinks the game is trash
It was ok but I say a. Definitely not better than SA or V
Muscle-fucking the Hummer onto the pier in GTA 4 and wreaking havoc is a canon event in my life.
GTA IV is S tier
Where would you rank 5??
S tier as well my friend
learning beebo edited for kwebbelkop was a linguistic jumpscare
I think Vice City has the best soundtrack ever!!!
i love your editing so much. you on top of the car lmao
@@kingconcerto5860 sorry to ruin it but that's just your shitty opinion. both SA and V are miles ahead of IV.
@@kingconcerto5860 gta 4 “objectively” has clunky gameplay with poor repetitive mission design and an empty open world. The only good about it is the story which even then isn’t as strong as people say it is
@@VerminSupremeFanPagegta has always had a "shoot person return to point" mission design except with the slight exception of 3 and the world's these games have can be interpreted as empty by people who often don't play the series it's really a subjective thing at the end of the day and what you prefer.
@@dud324 you shoot people in every gta but you’re not always just shooting. In gta sa there’s missions where you’re turning red necks into red mist with a combine or blowing up a crack factory. There’s a mission in vice city where you jump across buildings on a bike to promote a p*rno. Pretty much every mission in gta 4 is a hit job or a drug deal that always goes wrong
Vice city story’s is legit my favorite GTA game of all time. I loved slicing throats and owning a prostitution empire
I fucking love Niko. To this day he is my favorite protagonist out of all of them.

@@VerminSupremeFanPage Well, why force yourself to read if it's so hard for you? Don't try to read something if you don't feel like it. Nobody's forcing you. Comments aren't always for everyone to read, just some people who actually just wants to read. You don't have to express yourself against some comments that they're too long, and how _"You ain't reading allat",_ you could just simply ignore and move on. But besides that, I can still say whatever I like and decide how I create my comments. There are other people here below this video who also has monstrous wall of texts with a lot of likes, replies and attention more than me, and that's what the comment section is for. I can't blame you if you feel weak and overwhelmed or simply just lazy to read a whole comment of carefully well-thought out essays in pure detail. I won't even be surprised if you can't write that many essays in your tests or simply annoyed being forced to write down essays in school. Unpopular opinion-
Gta 3 and 4 were bangers when they launched but were quickly made considerably less fun compared to their respective follow ups (vice city and San Andreas then gta5)
Though I consider 3 and 4 lower teir, liberty city stories and tales from liberty city DLCs really made me love liberty city again.
