A magnificent choir. The art of song lifts spirits to unthinkable heights. This choir, which i have seen and listened to for decades, is one of few perfect choirs which I have ever heartd and facilitates the transport of the soul. Christ is risen(?) Christ is risen, indeed!
Easter is the Great Victory our Lord Jesus won over death. What glorious music is this! May we live in Christ's light and life every day for all eternity. Soli Deo Gloria!
So wonderful to hear the Passion of our Lord, in word and most glorious music, to His Resurrection. The readings were so well spoken. The music and choral selections were the most beautiful and beloved that I have ever heard.God continue to bless this renowned and world class choir from Kings..
In 1977, on a visit to Britain, l spent Easter in Cambridge, attending Good Friday service (black drapes, altarpiece closed, no organ), and again on Easter Day. The chapel was bright with morning sun, altarpiece open, flowers. There was no organ prelude. The Dean announced the hymn Jesus Christ Is Risen Today, and full organ led us, uplifted, into the resurrection.
And all this wonderful music with Rubens' magnificent Adoration of the Magi looking on from over the main altar -- what an aural and visual treat. Hail our Risen King!
I wishes the Men and Boys of King,s College well, as they struggle to recover from the passing of their Choir Director mr.Stephen Cleobury. Continue to sing beautiful to the Glory of GOD.
I'm always in tears and moved anytime I watched choir in white robes. I give all thanks and adorations to God for being a Christian. Thanks for uploading.
Although I no longer believe in traditional Christian soteriology, these great hymns touch a profound je ne sais quoi in the deepest part of my "soul." JESUS CHRIST IS RISEN TODAY is splendid and brings me to tears.
Thank you so very much for uploading this gem so swiftly. Christmas and Easter are never the same without Dr Cleobury and his superb choir. Happy Easter !
spiritdei Yes ! Douglas Tang is doing so well. He was in Hereford as organ scholar under Geraint Bowen who is my former organ teacher in Dublin when he was sub of St Patrick's Cathedral in the 80's. I confess I miss Ben-San Lau. A superb player.
Brian McKay Yep Ben-San Lau was a little special. But notice the expression on Douglas Tang as he finished playing the Vaughan-Williams. You could see he was having fun. Thanks for the background on him.
"O dearly, dearly has he loved, and we should love him too." I haven't heard "There is a Green Hill Far Away" since I sang it in a children's choir in the Lutheran church of my upbringing. What a treat!
What a performance by Eng;ands very best under the direction of conductor Stephen Cleobury. Not forgetting the sincere words by the priest at the end of the service
The sacred mysteries of Holy Week are enhanced by this para-liturgical service so richly celebrated by Kings College. "He is risen" assumes such meaning. Each of us is lifted.
Miserere is still full of wonder isn't it? You've probably seen this version Miserere Mei Deus - Kings College Chapel Choir which was uploaded in the days when TH-cam limited videos to 10 minutes each. Lets hope Kings record another full version soon.
Great stuff. I think I read they do this kind of "Lessons and Carols for Holy Week" at King's (and St. John's) because normally the University is on holiday during Holy Week so they don't sing the full round of services for the days in Holy Week as they do at the cathedrals.
spiritdei thanks, spiritdel. But the above description, i.e. '1:11:57 Christ Lad in Todesbanden BWV 625 Tom Etheridge J.S. Bach', seems to suggest it was played by Tom Etheridge. Or was there another version that showed it was played by Tom?
Dear spiritdei, I appreciate that you post the Easter and Christmas services at King's. Do you ever plan to upload the individual songs from the Easter service the way that you do for the Christmas service? I cannot load this large file on my phone, and I truly enjoy watching and listening to the choir! Thank you again! Blessings.
I agree. I love the preaching and sermons in those churches, but I believe they lack any acknowledgement of whose house it is. There is no grandeur, majesty or reverence. It is too casual for me. I can no longer even get my son to go because it is either a worship band playing along with a PowerPoint presentation, or a bad female cabaret singer with a mic and a rickety out of tune piano. So I attend Catholic Church and listen to Evangelical preaching on TH-cam.
I make another inquiry. Despite my memorable visits to Kings College, UK I never entered the chancel and still wonder who painted that beautiful painting over high altar. Might the "creator" be Rembrandt?
After E-saw, the one we named him, “Jesus” people called him “son of god”, Or “Lord”. Then we named the scripture given to him, “Enjeal” as Bible!... and we said, he died on a cross, and … Then 570 years after, God sent another prophet in order to repeat Hid covenant again and get people out of darkness in to the light, because satan made them so confused. But, somehow people love to be in darkness. Esaw never was crucified they never killed him. Esaw is Not son of god. These are all whisperers of satan. That is how he came up with 4200 fake and false religions instead of following “The Nation of Ebrahim”. Search all those scriptures, you would find them all having this commandment. Now we have the scientifically proven scripture supported by mathematics, mother of all sciences, discovered by 2 American scientists ever since 1974. You might check those 1500 pages of scientific repots. Look for “The Ultimate Mathematics Generator of the Quran”. “Religion whistleblower”, “The Secret code of the Arabic Quran based on number 19”, “The untouched message of God”. Let us make this world a better place to live. Happiness is “Submission to God Alone”. Here is what scientifically proven, untouched message of God, Quran says, chapter Maryam: While a barrier separated her from them, we sent to her our Spirit. He went to Maryam in the form of a human being. He said, "I am the messenger of your Lord, to grant you a pure son." She said, "How can I have a son, when no man has touched me; I have never been unchaste." He said, "Thus said your Lord, `It is easy for Me. We will render him a sign for the people and mercy from us. This is a predestined matter.' “When she bore him, she isolated herself to a faraway place. The birth process came to her by the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "(I am so ashamed;) I wish I were dead before this happened, and completely forgotten." (The infant Esaw) called her from beneath her, saying, "Do not grieve. Your Lord has provided you with a stream. "If you shake the trunk of this palm tree, it will drop ripe dates for you.
The Quran is the Devil's Bible! Islam denies Jesus as the Son of God; the Christian faith believes that Jesus is the Son of God. He died and rose to free us from sin.
Quran Math The Quran states something about Jesus far different from what He said of Himself. If you seek someone who can save, you are following the wrong path. Only Jesus Christ can save--not your works, not the words of a prophet, but only the precious blood of Jesus. Whatever the Quran or others may say, it is historically verifiable that He was crucified, buried, and rose on the third day from the dead, conquering sin and death. You need only look outside of the framework of your religion to the sources provided by history and in the Bible. You are trapped by your worldview. Jesus will set you free.

And this is just a "Chapel"? The worship and music are equal to the world's greatest cathedrals! Bravo e Bravissimo!!!
Thank you for the elegant and dignified performance of the Passion of our Lord. Happy Easter to you all from rural Thailand.
Thank you SO MUCH for putting this up. There is nothing left like this in the whole world. What Heaven must be like, eh?
And all this wonderful music with Rubens' magnificent Adoration of the Magi looking on from over the main altar -- what an aural and visual treat. Hail our Risen King!
Borxoi86 Praise be to.God; amen.

Happy Easter to *the world's best choir* ! Bonae Pasca!
Many thanks sir, truly. Blessed Eastertide to you. The beginning hymn of There is a Green Hill far away is simply gorgeous.
And the same to you! Have you noticed how the new organists settle so quickly in the role, its a shame they have to move on.

spiritdei ,
Excellent High C from Tom. Thanks...
Adante, I couldn't agree more. Happy Easter each day of the year.
BIG high C from Tom. Wow. He filled the place up. What a great young fellow. He's a choral scholar now.

This was an absolutely beautiful Easter service, and just as beautiful music! (I recognized Tom and Barney, and a few others! :) )

As beautiful as ever
Absolutely magnificent! Happy Easter everyone!
Thanks for uploading! I was waiting for it.

What a treat. Thank you.
Thank you very much, I love it.
Love this. Thank you for posting as always :-)
The Sassoon reading moved me to tears.....
King's is sounding very good at the moment. Would have loved to hear the full Miserere.
Miserere is still full of wonder isn't it? You've probably seen this version Miserere Mei Deus - Kings College Chapel Choir which was uploaded in the days when TH-cam limited videos to 10 minutes each. Lets hope Kings record another full version soon.
thanks so much for uploading this! I tried to find the program on the net but couldn't find it anywhere. God Bless!

Seems like Francois is on an island by himself. If we are lucky it will detach float away
Beautiful!
Superbe, merci de ce partage
Thanks for sharing!
He dies for me and you!
I find Old English so pretty to hear
geenerbob Its actually not Old English but what is called "received English" being sort of a dialect of Kent speakers/singers
I think linguists call it "southern standard English" nowadays. "Received pronunciation" more or less died in the 1960s.
beautiful
Sublime....
✨🎼👌 thanks for posting this :)
Sadly BBC Canada does not broadcast these things ..✨🌿
You're very welcome!
From what I watched from TV yesterday, I think the voluntary was played by Douglas Tang, the Senior Organ Scholar, and not Tom
Happy Easter, Spiritdel!
Carol Lover Same to you Carol, Same to you! Yes Douglas Tang was playing, it was joy to watch him.
spiritdei thanks, spiritdel. But the above description, i.e. '1:11:57 Christ Lad in Todesbanden BWV 625 Tom Etheridge J.S. Bach', seems to suggest it was played by Tom Etheridge. Or was there another version that showed it was played by Tom?
Carol Lover Yes now I see what you mean. I will change it right away, thanks!

Yes sure. I will be uploading the concert the way you have suggested very soon. I'm glad you are enjoying it so far.
spiritdei I am enjoying the service very much, and all you post! Thank you very much for your response! Blessings, Nell
Great faith in modern pentacostal churches but the singing is ghastly. This is real worship.
alex dahn I couldn't agree with you more, Alex.
Why must you disparage one to appreciate the other? Personal preference dies not sanctify a style.
Bah I don't adhere to silly aesthetic relativism. There are clear standards by which artistic creativity may be measured. Beautiful.

Adoration of the Magi by Peter Paul Rubens.

claudia deverell
Where do they get the word "Easter" from?
2:14
Why is the Miserere Mei Allegri muted?
